They put in Freon several times to try to fix it. After that didn't do the trick, they finally found the leak and it was right in front at the end of the coil. They ended up replacing the whole coil as well. I feel like I was grossly overcharged for this repair.

I called to report my issue with my 16 year old water heater and the next morning a service man came to my home. He quickly diagnosed the problem and quoted me a very reasonable price. He was able to order and install my new water heater on the same day and we received a few added safety features that were not installed with my old water heater. I highly recommend this company and their service department.

Ok, it took more than an hour to replace the fixture, wit standard ceiling height. $145 is pricy , For a $45 LED light fixture . I expect a professional to take 1/2 hour to replace and install.

We called to protest the estimate. We were told that the charge would then be $79 for coming out and $108-$120 for pressure testing our system. So $200 to give us a very overly-stated estimate. Avoid.
Description of Work: We had them out to check on a problem with our A/C. System under warranty. They came out (one hour later than stated time) and technician stated that it would cost in excess of $1600 to replace the evaporator coil. The coil was covered by our A/C manufacturer. The $1600 was for 3-5 hours of labor and the cost to recover and replace #13 pounds of freon. Perhaps, he said, there would be maybe 1/3 recoverable. So then price includes about 8-9 pounds of freon. We called around. Found that the coil is only $400-500 and that the typical installation is about $500-700, including freon and recovery.

I called the number and described my problem, including the fact that my son was sitting in the bathroom, holding the hose that supplies water to the toilet aimed at the bathtub because it was gushing water at full force. I was told that they would page the technician and he would call me back. I waited half an hour and was told that it took time to put me in the system, since I was a new customer and they had just paged the technician five minutes ago, so he would call back shortly because he had a one hour window to call back in. When it bad been one hour and I was finally giving up and dialing another company, he called and told me he couldn't come until the morning and I should just shut the water to the entire house off while I wait for him. I called another company, and was able to find a technician who was not only willing to come, but was very friendly and helpful.
Description of Work: Toilet line was not shutting off, leaking everywhere.

I called Ferran to come look at my parents AC unit which had quit working. My parents are in their 70's so I headed over to be there with them, when I got to their house the guy had been there about a half hour. He had told my parents that the fan motor needed replacing, and he was heading out to pick one up. My mother told me that it would be $1356.00. This immediately struck me as odd and the guy could tell because he tried to start showing me videos on his phone of what he said was their unit, and said that they could also get a whole new unit for $5800-$6000. I asked what that had to do with the fan motor and got no real response, and then he left. I got on my phone and called two different AC companies. Both told me the same thing: that not only was that price high, it was ridiculously high. At that point I called Ferran and asked to have the guy call us back to tell me what type of motor he was buying and that we thought the price was way too high. The girl said she would contact the dispatcher and have him call us back. Never called us back. He finally shows up about 45 minutes later and gets out of the van and all he says is that he is there to get his stuff. I looked at him and said that we hadn't decided what we were doing yet. Again, "I'm here to get my stuff." At this point he knew he was caught. I asked him if he had even brought the fan motor and once again I received no response close to being a yes. I told him all we had done was get a quote over the phone, and he asked how much it was for? I told him it was over $600 less and he said I would go with them, and then proceeded to grab his bag and go to his truck. I managed to ask him how much we owed him during his retreat and he said $79. So basically in a nutshell...he saw an elderly couple, tried to completely rip them off and then charged them $79 for the opportunity to do so. He did diagnose the problem and for that reason he was paid the $79, even though everyone I have told has said we should have never paid them anything. The scary part is that according to other negative review responses from Ferran here on Angie's List, they claim their guys don't work on commission. This means that this guy was taking advantage of my parents for the sole benefit of the company. This is directly copied from their website and is the first text you can read..."Our Promise: WE'LL NEVER SELL YOU SOMETHING YOU DON'T NEED! Our sales and service people don't make commission." While technically they didn't try to sell them something they didn't need, even though he did offer them the opportunity to buy a new unit, the markup was shameful and the definition of gouging. On their website they have a contact the owner option, which I did over two days ago and heard back nothing.....not that I am the least bit surprised. I did leave the part of him trying to sell my parents a new unit out in the message to the owner...so now they know. I will be curious to see what it would cost my parents to have a new unit put in. Shameful that such a large company treat any customer like this, especially the elderly.

We are offended with this rant from a client's son making assumptions which he then holds up as truths while calling in to question the integrity of Ferran, our owner and a highly valued service technician. He does this with complete disregard or full knowledge of the situation and without even speaking to a supervisor or owner. We are equally saddened that he is speaking for his parents whom we consider valued clients with a long standing history of mutual integrity. Fact: No one at Ferran makes a commission and we will never sell you something you do not need. Fact: As Residentail Maintenance Clients, his parents' were quoted a 15% discount on their services from our independent Flat Rate Pricing book. Fact: Independent Flat Rate Pricing means just that. Our pricing, along with a brief work description of each diagnosable task, is loaded on field tablets and available for clients to view at any point during a service visit. There is no way for any Ferran employee to adjust FRP once it is loaded assuring that it cannot change based on any characteristic of client. Further the pricing is based on industry norms provided by Callahan Roach, an independant provider. Fact: When a unit is 10+ years old and in need of a major repair, it is our practice to provide a ballpark figure for replacment so that our cllients can make informed decisions on repair vs. replace. This is done with zero intention of pushing for replacement and allows us to demonstrate full transparency. Fact: We have provided annual maintenance on this system since 2010. If we were attempting to "take advantage of the elderly", we would have had seven years to suggest or push for replacement sales. It simply is not done here. Fact: I have a fully recorded call same day from this complainant where he makes no attempt to speak with a supervisor or owner. It also affirms that he had no knowledge of the motor type prior to price shopping our diagnosis. Single vs. variable speed motors have significant pricing differentials. Fact: That variable speed motor's base cost to us was nearly the same dollar amount the customer claims to have gotten a full repair quote for. Fact: Given we were unable to perform the repair at the rate the customer procured, our technician followed procedure by pulling off and went a step above in eliminating the motor pick-up trip charge, only billing for the diagnostic. His actions, once again, speaking louder than the words perpetrated here. Ferran received this call and responded same day within four hours (timely and punctual). We provided an honest assessment, upfront pricing prior to performing anything above diagnostic, and were told to proceed with the call. The customer's son shopped the price with partial information while we were told to proceed with work on the residence, never pulling our tech off when he phoned in for the motor information. Our technician went above an beyond in considering our long standing relationship with the customers by "no-charging" his travel time and only billing $79. There was no pressure at any point, no intention to up-sell and no indication we expected anything more financially from his parents as we left the residence. There is no scenario in which any of this can be construed as taking advantage and we resent the implication on every level. Ferran kept our promise by providing the best possible service, presenting all available options, and proceeding in accordance with what our long term valued customers requested.

The guy show up at my house on time. He look at my garbage disposal and told me that I need it to replace. I told him that I bought one . He told me that for him to hook it up, he will charged me $260.00. WOW. Since I need to paid him anyway for the estimate I proceed with the rip off. WOW!!
Description of Work: My garbage disposal was not working properly. I bought a new garbage disposal at Lowes. All I need was somebody to hook it up.

When I received the quote for the work I was pleasantly surprised that it was lower than I had anticipated. When the ordered parts came in Ferran contacted me and the repair was scheduled. Justin came out again and got the job done with some help from Don with an additional section of repair not originally included in the quote but that had become necessary because of all the water leakage. Thank you Don for your contribution to that repair and your fairness in pricing. I really appreciate it. Because of the additional work they did by elevating the unit it was not necessary for them to install the condensate pump after all. I was very pleased with the work they did and the ease of communication with them when necessary. Thank you Justin for your patience, honesty and good work, Paula M.
Description of Work: I was having a problem with the AC unit at my rental house. Justin (Ferran technition) was able to determine that the problem was that the system had previously been over charged with refrigerant by my regular handyman and that he had used the wrong refrigerant. The evaporator coil was plugged and corroded and causing leakage. I chose to try removing the excess refrigerant initially to see if that would correct the cooling problem. It did but only temporarily and the unit froze up. Justin came back out, got the unit working again. We discussed the problem further deciding that the best solution was to replace the coil as he had initially suggested. The drain line for the evaporator coil also did not have the correct pitch in order to drain properly and it was causing additional leakage so he also suggested that a condensate pump be installed to aid the drainage.

It's only a year old, so the price was included in our contract. We have always been please with them. We would use them again. They installed two air conditioners for us and we have also used them for some plumbing and electrical work.

Plumbers were very nice, friend and made a several good suggestions. Work was completed quickly, they got here. They were 3 hour late from the time they told me they would've here. They did not do the ice maker water line which was the main purpose of the visit. A few hours later the kitchen cold water line started leaking. After hours services doesn't warranty work so I have to wait until tomorrow and not sure they will do the work done contract state Mon-Fri only on the warranty. Very frustrated. Will cancel ice maker water line work and try another plumbing company. Note: unless you are the first service call, you have no time window when they show up; no respect for customer time.
Description of Work: Replace garbage disposal and installed a bed kitchen faucet. They were suppose to also install a new ice maker waked line but could not do it.

It didn't. The tech diagnosed the problem but didn't have access to the part needed to fix it. He asked the company to work with me on price for a return visit once I purchased the part and they said no. They were scheduled to come the day before I waited the entire day and got a call at 5:30 that they needed to reschedule for the following day between 8-10. I said fine. The tech arrived about 10:45. No one called to say he'd be late. The tech was very nice and sincerely wanted to help but could do nothing about it. Not his fault at all

They were actually very good. They were professional. They answered all our questions. They addressed any concerns that we had. They came out a second time to re-inspect something. They were wonderful. I think overall in Florida things are a little bit expensive. The cost of living here is more expensive than up north. They were very reputable. Like I said we had a question and they came back no questions asked. They addressed our concerns so they were very good.

We were advised the plumber would be there the next day in the "afternoon" - he finally showed up at 6:04 PM. Once he got there he was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. He identified the break in the pipe as in the slab., He told us he could not do anything until we had all the cabinets removed. He told us to call back once this was completed. He was on site less than 45 minutes and told us he was giving us a break charging us $344. Next day we removed the cabinets and made an appointment with Katherine for 8AM the following morning. When we had still heard nothing at 10AM we called. Got Katherine. She said she did not see anything on the schedule for us today. She said the next tech would be dispatched. I asked how long. She would not say. She woudl not even say it would be more like 1 hours or 5 hours. After many more phone calls and involving managers, etc., the Plumber arrived around noon. Thankfully he was able to fix it without going into the slab. He was with us for about 2.5 hours - another $244 (less than the first guy???). In any case once you get a plumber, they are good, but the dispatch, and office staff are terrible. if you go with them be prepared to wait a long time and pay alot.

It went better than I could have hoped. After the storms, I had called OUC last night to report almost-down power lines and the broken weather head. They came out much sooner than I expected and said the news wasn't good, but that I could wait until the next morning to call an electrician. OUC's first indications were that i might be out of power a day or two. This morning I researched electricians through Angie's List. I typically prefer working with small businesses, but since I needed immediate help, I called Ferran since they are much larger, and since they had an A rating with Angie's List. I'm SO glad I did. Their office staff, particularly Dottie, was very attentive and detailed. They sent Jason to do the job, and he was terrific to work with. The total project took almost four hours, due to some waiting time for OUC electrician who had to disconnect my power from the down weather head. But Jason and the OUC electrician worked exceptionally well together, and I was so grateful for that. What might have been perhaps a couple days without power ended up only being a few hours without power. I am sold on Ferran's client service and electrical expertise. I will definitely call again, and specifically will ask for Jason. Thanks everyone!!
Description of Work: Due to storms the night before, my weather head was pulled down due to a large tree limb, which had pulled the electrical wires which were connected to a power pole, and subsequently pulled down my weather head. The weather head had also torn open the top of my electric meter box, which also had to be replaced. The work required combined the efforts of Ferran and Orlando Utilities Commission.

AC was fixed on the day of service however after all the calls to the sales team about getting a replacement unit it was worth the headache and the many different associates I had to deal with. I'd much rather go back to my smaller AC company that provided me with prompt and courteous service on each call and each visit. Prime example of how the big companies DO NOT always provide the best customer service.
Description of Work: My AC unit went out on the second floor, Feran came out for repair and it was done on that day. I was delighted they fixed the unit quickly. Because the tech indicated the unit would need to be replaced in the very near future I asked him to please make sales aware I would like a price/quote for a new unit. It took three calls to them and having to give my info to a different Feran employee 3-4 times is not my idea of customer service.
