Our gas dryer quit working on 1/29/14. Finding someone to work on a gas dryer in our area is difficult. I called the company I normally use and was told that it would be a week before they could come out and fix my dryer. I called Allen's and was told that a technician would be here that afternoon. It took three trips to properly repair the unit as the first parts that were replaced did not fix the problem. After the second visit additional parts had to be ordered. I understand having to make extra trips as the dryer was operating sporadically which made it difficult to diagnose the problem. The dryer would heat, stop heating and then start heating again. After the first visit I was not charged a return visit fee. After the initial trip fee this company does not charge if they have to come back a second or third time. The dryer was fixed this morning and operates properly. This company is prompt with courteous and professional technicians. They stand behind their work and want to make sure the customer is satisfied. I will use this company again for any repairs needed to my gas appliances.

They were very punctual and professional. The Dryer they serviced ended up being more broken than initial expected and a re-visit was necessary. No charge for re-visit... and ended up buying a new appliance.

Very nice and showed us exactly what happened and how to prevent it in the future.

Jim was professional, answered all questions, explained why the whole kit was needed instead of the fan. Definitely will use this company again.

The tech was very knowledgeable and gave me a lot of information. They do not charge a trip charge but I did feel the service charge was a little high. I would however recommend them and use them again.

I recently signed up for Angie's list and thought that I had a problem, so I looked up Allen's and called them. Turned out I didn't but they remembered me from last year when I used them and immediately called me by name. Great people and I it verifies Angie is good and I got lucky last year.

I had written a less than satisfactory review earlier concerning costs. They had contacted me and we discussed the concern and agreed at a solution. Though I had a concern from the previous visit, I still knew Allen's Appliance was the best. I contacted them for a service call two days before Thanksgiving. My frig was not maintaining proper cooling temperature. With Thanksgiving just 2 days away I was very concerned. They were prompt and courteous and very professional. They needed to order a part that was required to maintain cooling. It would not be here until the day after Thanksgiving. They were able to adjust the refrigerator so it maintain cooling through Thanksgiving, Suggested with as old as it was and as many times as they had been out, might consider getting a new one. I did. I contacted them and told them I didn't need the part. I cancelled the next appointment - day after Thanksgiving - only charged the service call. My experience was outstanding and would recommend using them to all my friends.

Our 2006 Kenmore dryer stopped heating the air that it was blowing. I found Allen's on Angie's List and gave them a call. The guy who answered was courteous and scheduled a service call for the very next day. Unfortunately, I ended up being called away and missed the tech. When I called them back, they were very understanding and told me that they could have someone out the *next* day. Mike, the service tech, called when he was about 15 mins out and when he arrived, he was very professional and polite. He identified the problem within a few minutes (a broken coil on the heater). He had the new heater installed, the dryer tested, and put back in its place inside of 20 minutes. He explained to me what was wrong and what likely contributed to the problem. I never once felt like I was being talked down to. The total cost was $215 - the cost of the part plus $89 for the service call. He didn't even charge for labor! I have to say, I was SUPER impressed. Even though I have had great results with other types of service providers from Angie's List, it's always a little nerve wracking when dealing with an unknown quantity. Let me tell you, these guys deserve every single one of their A+ ratings.

My GE side by side died. Nothing working. I called at 10:30am for appt. Was told someone would be out from 1 to 4pm that day. Jim arrived a little before 1pm. He new exactly what the problem was (the computer board) and had the part in his truck. He installed it, gave us a lot of tips about our particular model and was out the door. Less than an hour and working perfectly. Bummer...I was really looking for an excuse to buy a new fridge.....lol Thanks Jim.

I called Allen's and within 1 hour the serviceman was at my house. Mike diagnosed the problem right away, a leak from a valve that caused ice to build up on the bottom of the freezer. He gave me worst case cost, I said ok and he proceeded to take the drawer apart, melt the ice and clean the valve. Within 45 minutes everything was back together, the worst case (expensive parts) were not needed and Mike was out the door. This was by far the best repair experience.

I had used them in the past for refrigirator issues. They were professional, responsive and gave me tips to do to keep issues from happening in the future. Outstanding knowledge and service. In the past they would charge a one time service call fee of $79 plus parts. When I last contacted them for repair to my oven I was told the owner decided he could make more money by charging an hourly rate for installation of parts and remove the service charge. My bill at the old charge would have been approximately $150 instead it was $235. Great service but be carefull of the cost.

My call was answered immediately and appointment was setup for next day. Jim called me before arriving. He was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. It was a delightful experience. I wouldn't dream of calling another service provider for my large appliance needs. Great job!

Anthony did a great job and was very informative and pleasant. He was in and out. No muss no fuss. Told us what was wrong and in one and a half hours we were back in business. We will definitely use Allen's again. :)

The technician was punctual (I called same day), and he diagnosed the issue immediately. What I appreciated most was that he had the parts in his van...no waiting for a part to arrive before being replaced. He installed the part within 20 minutes, collected his payment and was gone. Very easy to deal with.

The technician arrived on time. He diagnosed the problem ordered the parts and returned in a few days to complete the repairs. Overall experience was excellent.

Since I have not had need of appliance repairs in many years, I did not know who had the best reputation in DeLand, so I joined Angie's List specifically to benefit from the opinions of others who have experienced local repairs. Allen's Appliance Service seemed to be the go to company, so I gave them a call. My call reached a very cheerful voice mail greeting, so I left a message. Walt returned my call very promptly and we set up a service call for a three hour window on the next day. I was surprised to receive a call an hour or so early from Jim, the technician, who asked if it would be convenient for him to come early, as his day was moving faster than expected. Of course, I was thrilled to get the repair out of the way early, so Jim showed up about fifteen minutes later. He was able to identify the source of my problem within minutes. Jim explained a couple of options to repair the ice maker and I chose to replace the unit, as repairing the existing unit would have involved nearly the same cost. I could not be more pleased Allen's Appliance Service and I heartily recommend them.

Mike explained everything as he worked. He did a great job leaving everything clean and neat. He explained there is a 30 day guarantee on all work and if something were to go wrong with the job, to call immediately. So far, the freezer is working perfectly and I am very pleased with the service.

The gentleman was Professional and Kind

The service man was very professional in skill, speech, and dress. He had some difficulty getting the dishwasher out to find the problem, but didn't give up and figured out how to proceed. He diagnosed the problem with the refrigerator getting too cold and then have water drain into the lower compartment. Both appliances are working well now.

he came out the same day replaced my icemaker. he knew exactly what to do and the job went very fast. he had the icemaker on his truck. walt and jim were very professional,knowlegable and courteous. i highly recommend Allens Appliances.

Everything went great. They were here one day, looked at the problem and told me what the charge would be. They ordered all the parts, put everything together and it has worked ever since.

My appliances were not worth fixing but instead needed to be replaced. Repair person was very knowledgeable . My only issue was when I called to set up service appointment I was Not told that there would be a service charge that was larger than normal because I live in a different town from where they were located. Had I known I would be charged over $100 before any work was done I would have chosen a local repair service. I simply did not realize they weren't local . Theirs was the first repair service listed and with an all A rating on my Angie's list search. As I said I couldn't have been more impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of the service person who came to my home ,even he was very surprised that I was unaware of the trip charge. From his reaction I do feel Lille this was not a normal situation and that normally customers are told of the charge up front. However I was not told and paid $119 Therefore I would not call this company again unless I was sure that I was in their local service Area and informed of any upfront charges

A new resident to a rental house called me on the 4th day there to report that the clothes dryer was not working properly. I called Allen's Appliance Service and the call was answered immediately. I was told that there were alot of calls for the day but that someone would be able to go over that afternoon. I gave them the phone number at the house and the arrangements were made between the two of them. The service technician found that the electrical prongs on the cord had been modified by someone previously; it was a hazard in the current condition. He straightened out the damage, replaced the 'pigtail' and all was fine with the appliance. The resident of the house said the service technician was very knowledgable, polite and efficient. I was grateful for two things; that the tennant had the common sense to call me quickly and that the service provider was prompt and straightforward. The entire experience was a good one and I look forward to doing business with them again.
