We called Allen's after using a local service guy a month ago who, though he charged us over $100 and said he had fixed our problem, actually failed to repair our freezer. We have a GE Monogram fridge with a bottom drawer freezer. Ice was building up on the left side of the freezer and impeded the door closing so the freezer was not keeping a safe temperature. Jim from Allen's came the same day we called. We explained the problem and he then gave our freezer a thorough examination and found that our gasket was not attached properly and also that the rails that hold the freezer shelves had loosened so everything was slightly off-balance. He double-checked the whole unit to make sure that everything was working. We were very impressed with his work and the way he was absolutely determined to solve our problem and .... he did! We now have a freezer that works perfectly and is no longer accumulating ice in the door. From now on Allen's is the only number we will call when we need help with an appliance, their service is outstanding!

Arrived on time. Professional. Diagnosed problem in a timely manner. Gave options on repair.

We called KitchenAid and they suggested a local service company that took over a week to get out. They said the control board was bad and no longer manufactured. They could send it out for repair - cost $500, 3-4 weeks for the repair and rescheduling of the install, no labor or parts warranty and they highly recommended replacing the 7 year old refrigerator. We paid their $190 service call and said no thank you. We needed a second opinion. A friend recommended Allen's. We checked them out on Angie's List, called, and they came out that same day. They checked everything and confirmed what the first company had told us. However, Allen's could have the board repaired for the same cost as the other company (but their service call was included); they could provide a warranty; and best of all we would be down for about a week. A week later they installed the board ! Pricing was exactly as quoted - no surprises, just great, professional, HONEST service. NOTE: Thanksgiving Day after our big family meal, our range went out. We called Allen's Friday morning, they came that same afternoon. Labor, materials and service $150. Again, no surprises with these people. They do what they promise, from scheduling, to ordering parts, to service, to follow up and all at a fair price.

i noticed 11/19/2014 that my fridge was warm inside and everything in the freezer was thawed. It was late afternoon and I do have a spare fridge in my garage so I spent the evening searching books and computer for Angies List. I was very impressed with Allens App. "Report card". Nothing but good stuff to be read anywhere. 11/20/2014 I contacted them via computer from Angies List site. They responded in 20 - 30 min. They seemed nice enough, but wanted $109.00 just to come here!!! I thought that was a lot, and told them. They wrote back and explained their pricing (that I probably still don't understand). I set up a tentative appt and spent another night looking for cheaper I really didn't find cheaper and got tired of looking, so I let them come and prayed it wouldn't cost a ton of money. The gentleman called when he was on his way, as promised. He knew right away what the problem was and had it fixed in 20 min. or less. He explained everything. I asked a lot of questions and he was very patient. I even mentioned a problem with my ice maker, he looked at it, told me I needed a new one and showed me why Bottom line, for $325.37 my fridge is humming like new and I have a new ice maker. I thought the price was quite reasonable. I thought the tech, Miquel A., was very professional, and really, an all around nice guy! Would I use them again? I wouldn't call anyone else!

I had contacted Allen's Appliance Service Thursday 09.25.14 as soon as my washer stopped draining. The company was able to schedule an appointment for me the next day. Jim W. was the tech who came to assess the situation and was VERY helpful and knowledgable about what was causing the washer not to drain. He didn't have the part in his van, but gave me an estimate of the cost and told me that he would be back on Tuesday 09.30.14 with the replacement part. (He said that they don't like to schedule appointments until they have the part in-hand). Jim W. called Tuesday, said he had the part, and would arrive within 45 minutes. He was right on time, repaired my washer, and told me that I have a 1-yr. guarantee for the part that was replaced. The cost of the part was a little less than $200, service fee $129 (minus $10 savings for being Angie's List member), and the balance was the cost of labor. Jim W. was an excellent tech: he explained everything to me; arrived on-time; his work was clean and thorough, and he took the old part with him. Jim also told me what to do to ensure that I have many more years of use from my washer. He even gave me some maintenance tips for my dishwasher! Allen's Appliance Service is an EXCELLENT company and I would certainly recommend them to anyone in need of competent qualified appliance repairs.

They were not able to fix our problem but they graciously refunded our payments and wrote a nice response. Updated: I purchased a new control panel from Whirlpool online and Allen's Appliance offered to come out and install it for free. They fixed my oven, and I'm extremely happy.

Our technician, Anthony, was completely professional and was able to diagnose our washer and dryer problems within minutes. The quote for repair was completely fair and reasonable, and the parts were ordered and he was back out to complete the job two days later. I can't say enough just how much I recommend these guys, and if you're still reading this review, then stop now and give them a call! You (and your wallet) will be very happy that you did.

...our serviceman, Mike, checked all the fuses and made sure that it would be better to just buy a new one. He was SO informative - showing me how he could tell that the fuses were still good. The problem was a very costly investment that we didn't want to make. He was exceptional in his knowledge - have never had a serviceman explain what he was doing. He said that he regularly goes to classes to stay updated on servicing new appliances , etc....really highly recommend this company!

They have excellent service, they have immediate response and they scheduled and showed up on time. The only issue was that they didn’t call me and tell me that they’re going to do the installation but it’s easily resolved.

allen's was very responsive, they returned my call within 15 mintues, had a tech. out that afternoon within the time frame they gave me and work was finished within 30 min. the tech. was very professional and helpful with information on maintaining the washer. I will use them again and will recommend them highly

The service was excellent! We had called and left message after their work hours and then called once they opened in the morning. Our appointment was scheduled for time between 11:00AM and 2:00PM. We were told we would receive a call prior to the technician arriving. Anthony called when he had completed his earlier appointment and confirmed that someone was home and then arrived as scheduled. He was very polite and came with tools and large towel. He explained what caused the problem and before reinstalling the freezer shelves wiped and cleaned off the frost from inside the bottom of the freezer. We now will be certain that the bottom freezer drawer is tightly closed and that nothing is pressing against the door gasket. I believe the service call was completed within approximately 30 minutes. We would certainly recommend this company and Anthony as the technician.

Called Allen's (based on Angie?s list) late in the day to see if they could repair my dishwasher, which had no power. The Technician, Jim, showed first thing the next day. He thoroughly troubleshot the dishwasher, and found the control board bad. The new part was installed, and the dishwasher works great. He also provided some very helpful hints on using the dishwasher based on our water type in the area. While there, he also looked at my oven. It seemed to take a long time to preheat. Everything checked good, but he did show me how to speed the preheat up using the convection cycle. I will definitely call Allen?s again if I need their services.

Called Allen's Appliance Service on the reviews and implied experience provided on the website.I was pretty sure the washing machine would need replacing, by the condition of the drum alignment. He was prompt, on time as promised, and professional. All he had to do was look at the drum and knew the problem immediately. Parts and labor would of been around $700.00. Along with some pleasant conversation, the entire visit lasted about 15 minutes. Charge for the assessment? $129.00. Take off the $10.00 good deal coupon for a grand total of $119.00. Wow, I find that expensive for a service charge in a area you advertise is covered by your service. Next time I have a problem, I'll be sure to inquire on the service charge first. That's 10 hours I have to work to pay that Service Call.

He was very informative and gave me lots of helpful information on laundry soaps, etc. He worked very efficiently and quickly.

l' .The work and communication was good, but there was a problem -> the work in the rental house was done to completion BUT was not authorized by me, the only authorizing party. They dispatched a service tech on 3/17/2014 to assess the problem and I was given an accurate estimate for repairs. Thank you. I was on the fence about investing that much on an older unit instead of a 'newer model' used dryer for about $150. Tenants can be h****** appliances and sometimes newer models stand a better chance of surviving the residents; I was still looking into a replacement when the service was done on 03/22/2014 . The service call was completed; the parts cost $35.06 with a service call of $89 plus tax brought the bill up to $164.02. I have used this service before and had always found the response to be quick and the repairs complete. This is the first time I have had a issue with the vendor because they have been very reliable in the past.

I had an older Whirlpool refrigerator at one of my rental properties and the tenant informed me that it had stopped cooling. I went to Angieslist and found Allen's Appliance Repair, gave them a call at 10:32 A.M. and told them that I needed to have it looked at ASAP. At 1:20 P.M. their tech Jim called me with the diagnosis (that is what I call quick service) and found that the compressor had gone out and gave me the option to have him fix it but I decided that based on the age of the unit it would be best to replace it. I am very pleased with Allen's Appliance Repair and will definitely use them again in the future.

It began with with phone call to Allens. The person on phone gave us quotes to look at two machines the washer and refrigerator. The cost we were charged for service was exactly the same as quoted, no extras. Mike arrived on time per appointment and listened to our complaints regarding both machines. He suspected the ice maker had problems with the coating in machine not releasing the ice properly. That was the problem and told it was a common problem with this machine, a kenmore. He gave us a price for a new ice machine and made an appointment to return a few days later to install. Again he arrived on time and did the work. The charge was exactly as promied for the part and the visit. Believe price was fair and we were impressed with his general knowledge of the refrigerator and washing mchine. He also noted the glass top of the range was cracked. However he agreed that since all burners still worked, there was no need for repair. In any event the cost of replacement was so high that he'd recommend buying a new one. It would cost apprfoximately half the cost of a new range to replace the top of this 9 year old range. Just advised to be careful as edges were sharp on glass. Regarding the washing machine, he pretty much figured out it was off balance due to heavy load on only one side of machine. He heard it running while visiting. He advised that if center blades or tub were off center, the cost would be rather high to repair. However it did not appear to be damged on visual inspection. He advised to take care to avoid heavy loads and spread the weight out evenly around the tub. We have since did this. Although still occasionally starts banging, we simple rearrange the load and the machine finishes the wash. There was no charge for the advice, just the cost to look at two machines on same visit. I'd advise calling for more than one machine, if applicable, as it is cheaper to look at two machines at same time then make two trips. We were even more impressed that he did not try to sell us an expensive repair that was not needed. We are an elderly couple (70's) that know little of such things and could have been sold an expensive repair that still would not correct the problem, an unbalanced load. In general most pleased with the work , knowledge and fine character of the repair man, mike. I may be wrong with name, poor memory, but not with satisfaction with his service. I hope all of Allen's employes are as good as Mike.

It took a while but they were persistent and repairs were completed. They also kept their original estimate even though it did take longer than anticipated.

We received a $10 discount for finding them through Angie's List. It was excellent. He was on time, very efficient, and he did a good job overall.

Jim arrived on time, assessed problem quickly & determined vent was blocked but dryer was OK. Also switched door to open on opposite time. Will definitely call if any other appliances break down.

The technician (Mike?) was VERY polite, jovial and helpful. My mother's french door refrigerator quit working although the freezer on the bottom was still operational. A sensor had become defective and caused the internal coils to completely freeze over. He thawed everything out and cleaned up after himself. He was able to make the refrigerator work for her until he could come back a couple of days later with the part he'd needed to order.

Our Whirlpool washer began making some really loud banging noises and the plastic internal tub was beginning to disintegrate. I called the provider and they said they would send someone out the next day (Saturday). The gentleman that came out called before arriving and was on time. He walked in, took one look at the washer, looked inside of it and said it would cost $1,500 to repair and he recommended purchasing a new one. He was there literally for less than 2 minutes. It took longer for him to run my credit card than it did for him to diagnose my issue yet there was a charge of $80. I fully understand that there should be a charge, but there was absolutely no work done warranting an $80 charge. Total time for him in the house was less than 3 minutes.
