Pool and lanai area are beautiful! It is a wonderful area for relaxing and entertaining now! Tropicana is a family owned, long standing business and they were consistently professional and great people with which to work. They were greatly delayed due to all of the summer rains, and we did have to call them for updates instead of them calling us. We are extremely happy with this project and highly recommend this company!

The sales man responded fairly quickly and was very smooth and knowledgeable. It is a family business. The son sells and the dad installs and I think the grand kids work in the office. I took a month to decide I wanted to go with them as their price was higher. I decided to go ahead with the higher price expecting to get the best service and best quality. I sent my request in. I had to follow up to confirm they received it and ask what was the next step. This was pretty much how the next 6 weeks went. I would ask what the status was and they would reply (always through email) with different reasons why nothing was happening. Then, out of the blue with no advance warning, I get a phone call from the office that the crew was on its way!! I was in Chicago! Fortunately, there were others in the house to interact with the crew when they got there. Since I wasn't there, I couldn't give them a check so there were a few phone calls (calls I had to make/take during breaks in my business meeting) to secure the down payment with a credit card. They installed the cage in a couple of days - it's a small pool. The week after they finished, they called to say they needed to schedule the inspector and that my credit card didn't work. I said I could give them a check now that I was back, but I had issues with the install. So the dad came out. Part of the job included removing a wooden railing that was around the pool. There are spots where the bolts were taken out and chunks of the concrete came out as well. I asked why they didn't repair it and he said they didn't do concrete work but I could go to home depot and get some stucco fill. One of the drain spouts was visibly crooked and had been crammed together at the joint. He moved it to straighten it. I mentioned and showed him the new hairline cracks in the deck area around the pool close to where the braces were screwed in. He insisted they were not caused by their work. The original quote included 2 doors, but they only installed one because they said the permit would not allow the second door because there were too many steps without a landing. There are 2 concrete steps where the original wooden gate was. If they had told me of the permit restriction beforehand, I could have added a landing or otherwise accommodated to meet the requirements. I had a full set of stairs with a landing built for the door they did install. He removed the charge for the door they didn't install. In the end, he gave me a small credit to cover the stucco fill and I paid for the job. The end product looks very nice but the poor communications and lack of attention to detail has tarnished the whole experience.

Great family owned and run business. We love our screen room and would recommend Tropicana to anyone thinking about adding screened in patio. Service provider was very professional from the initial quote through competion of the job. The two piece concrete slab looks great and the screen walls, roof, doors and doggie door are perfect.

** I am updating my initial review because I have made multiple attempts to get a hold of the company to fix a few leaks where the roof meets the house. They keep telling me I'm on the list. I am a patient person but I have been on the list for about 8 months. I was told that the workers don't get paid to do repairs so they do it when they are free which is understandable but I have been on the list for several months. The initial screen room still looks fantastic I just think if I'm going to spend about $14,000 they would stand behind their product which to this point they have not done.

I called them for a quote for a covered patio addition. They were ontime and professional. Very knowledgeable. Seemed like a very good company. I had multiple quotes and they were a little high.

Outstanding - toally professoinal - from estimate to design to completed job. Tropicana was willing to work with us to time the construction in line with other major exterior repairs (roof, lanai, tree removal, electrical). Everything worked out perfectly and the enclosure gets rave reviews from alll who have seen it.

Everything was handled in a professional manner and we were explained the process from start to finish, as well as being kept informed along the way. End result is magnificent and I would highly recommend this company (after having talked to 5 others, getting estimates, etc.)

One phone call from me to them...no answer, no response. I hired someone else.

The work went very well and we are extremely pleased with the results. The cage is magnificent, our pool has never looked better, and the bugs are on the outside looking in. The McAlpin family was very professional, and watching the cage go up was an experience itself. Almost all of the cage was pre-fabricated at their plant, and it was assembled on site in two days. When the county inspector came for the final inspection he was very impressed. The only small issue was the number of support straps on the supergutter. Tropicana came back quickly to fix that issue. While Tropicana's cost estimate was higher than the other two companies we looked at, there were two factors that convinced us to go with Tropicana. Our initial meeting with Patrick showed the professionalism of the company. He was very thorough and you got the sense that they were on top of their business. Secondly, we were more impressed with his concrete contractor, Concrete Results. I don't think I would have gone wrong with the other companies, but I would recommend Tropicana to anyone. We now have an extension of our home where we can enjoy the outside at any time. It makes a huge difference.

The best part was the installer himself. This is a family company with the son as the sales rep., Mom working in the office and the old man doing the actual work. He has been doing this work forever and he's an old school craftsman. They bring the needed materials and build the structure on site. They are fast and thorough and every fit is flawless. The installer and his coworker function like a precision team. No wasted motion and long hours get the job completed very quickly and it looks wonderful. Very nice finish work with every joint caulked while being installed. All stainless steel fasteners and no-see-um screen. I was very pleased and impressed.

They rescreen the top of the bird gage. great job.They also builded my bird gage 10 years ago.Still looks great.

I began calling the company four weeks ago to get someone to come out and tell me what it would take to fix the leaks. Although the office staff was very nice, nobody ever contacted me. On the forth call to the office, Mannie was there and told me a special coating would need to be put on the roof and it was at least $350.00 to do it . I asked that he please come by and give me an actual estimate. Again, no call. I know this is a busy season for them, but a little communication with me would have been nice. I have now had the work done by another Comany that was professional and responsive.

Patrick was very responsive in providing an estimate and won my husband's confidence through his commitment to customer service. We were also pleased to support a family-run business. The workers who demo'ed the previous cage were hardworking and prompt, and carefully cleaned the area before they retired for the night. They have been most respectful and polite to my sister, who is overseeing the work in our absence. The new cage is under construction at this very moment, and almost complete. This company has been a joy to work with and we are glad to give them an excellent rating.

I spent about $8000 on that service. They were superior in every regard. They did a good job, followed up and they were the most economical as well. The people that came and did the work were of high quality and were reliable. They were very conscientious and very easy to interaction with.

They provided the most thorough information at the time of quoting and were the most willing to discuss some design changes we wanted to see. We had told them that we were going to have pavers installed after the old screen was removed, but before the new screen was put up. They were happy to work around that (most of the people we received quotes from were as well). Their price was competitive, but not the absolute lowest (most quotes were within a 5% range). We decided to go with them based on the reviews on Angie's List as well as their ability to speak to the various things we discussed during the quoting process; Patrick certainly seemed more comfortable discussing various aspects of the work than did some of the other companies. Once we decided to go with them, we gave them a deposit and they submitted the drawings to the engineer to get the permit going. There was about a week of delay between the engineering and the permit approval, but I don't think any of that was related to Tropicana. Once the permit was granted, they came out and measured and had the whole thing done in a few days.

They were very good. Even my sister has been using them as well for flotter work in her lanai. They re-screened her whole lanai and charged her $1100 as it was bigger than mine. They came out and showed me products that were recommended. Their products were lot cheaper than what I was looking for. They came out great. They recommended a product that I had not heard of. I would have spent more on another product. They recommended a product that I could save money from. They did the work in one day and I had to take off from my work for just a day. I recommended them to my neighbors who also used their services.

I wasn’t disappointed with anything other than the fact that it was a little more expensive than some of the other quotes, but I felt it was worth it. Other than that, I was very happy. I would use their services in the future too.

They did a great job. I talked to them about doing a glass wall. I really like the guy because he said it really wasn’t practical. He was straightforward and honest; I really appreciated that. They did what they said they would do and did it on time. They charged me $1600 for a big area. It was worth it. I will use them again in the future if required.

had some difficulty with home office in getting an exact start date. however, work was done professionally and timely.

Patrick did an estimate of what we wanted and did plans for us to see. Work was excellent . It was just what we wanted.

The work was excellent, crew nice and polite. Finished product was beautiful. The only complaint I had was that they left a lot of screws and metal shavings all over the pool deck and surrounding area. I called and they came out with a vacuum and cleaned it up.

Patrick's team did a great job! It took some time to obtain the permits, but once the work began it went along very nicely. Great to do business with them and they gave me the best price. I highly recommend Topicana Screen and Glass.

I received three estimates for the work to be performed. Tropicana had the best price (except for their work order minimum which they waived). At the time I signed the contract order they could not give me a specific date when the work would be performed but said it would be within a couple weeks. I signed the order on 6/1 and the work was performed 6/12. Two men did the work and were friendly, efficient and professional. The only problem was they didn't read the work order and forgot to replace the cage bolts. When I pointed it out to them, they brought out their tools again and performed the work with no problem.

Patrick is great. When he came out to give us an estimate he was on time and gave us some great ideas. Their price came in pretty close to others and we went with Tropicana based on their customer service. They had a permit pulled and we were good to go. They came out on time and were the project went quickly. We were very impressed. When questions came up, Patrick always called back and reassured us that things were good. One issue they outsource their cement guy and he is not the most pleasant to deal with. There were a few items that were miscommunicated and somewhat frustrating. My recommendation would be to funnel everything through Patrick. My other recommendation is read your estimate VERY thoroughly and carefully to make sure everything you think should be included will be at the end. Other than that snag, the job (albeit small for them) was handled quickly, professionally and not cost effective. We would recommend Tropicana in the future!!

Not too bad. I had been getting estimates for months from companies here on Angie's list. Patrick came in with his laptop and he showed me some examples of their work that I could point at and say "that's what I want". The quality of the construction was good on their part. The time between signing the deal and start of actual construction was about a month. Took a little under two months to complete. Had them out during construction to work on a couple of leaks - one of which took several calls before they nailed it. One leak had nothing to do with their work. It was from an existing soffit that probably leaked all along. The other two leaks were patched. The electricians wired everything to code and installed two ceiling fans with remote controls. There were additional costs above the estimate for additional electrical work.
