Description of Work: Technician, Tim Hooks, arrived promptly at the scheduled time. I greeted the technician and reconfirmed that I wanted him to replace my irrigation system controller with a new one and a rain sensor and asked him how much that would cost; he stated $60 for the "service call" as long as the time didn't exceed one hour plus $160. Each additional hour was $60. After 60 minutes he stated that he had the controller replaced but stated that I had other problems. I asked what he suspected and he mentioned that it was probably a valve. He stated that I did not need to wait and I left and asked him to call me before he did any additional work. He never called. He did not leave a bill, I called the next day and they said it would be mailed to me soon. Bill arrived a few days later and totalled $529. Since the technician did not call I was expecting a bill for $220 to $280. The $160 controller and rain sensor became a $160 controller and a $35 rain sensor. I was charged $44.52, I hate pennies, for a zone module that I did not approve. I was charged $225, 3.75 hours, of additional labor, 2 .75 hours that I did not approve. The most ludicrous part of my bill was 95 cents they charged me for a black & white wire nut and the $1.23 for the blue wire nut. I suggest they throw those in for free when they more than double your expected cost without any approval.

Description of Work: I have a multi zone sprinkler system and the mechanism that switches from one zone to another broke. They replaced it, but they made a mistake. They installed the wrong part, which prevented the well pump from pumping. When I called them about it, they said they only do irrigation. The well pump company found that the problem was actually caused by Dobson's. As soon as I told them, they came back out and fixed it at no charge.

+ -1 moreI was happy with the service call. I got a call back on the same day I called and the technician came on time for the appointment. He explained my system to me (new home owner) .
Description of Work: Came and inspected lawn irrigation. Technician showed me how to reset the Rainbird controller, Replaced rotors that were not working properly. The service call is $60 for the first 1/2 hour and then it is $60 an hour to perform the work and inspection. Labor and service call was $210 for a 2 1/2 hour job. The parts were a minimal part of the call.

+ -1 moreDobson's has all the high tech diagnostic equipment to find this sort of problem, and they did so in an amazingly short amount of time, I had been unable to. While they were here, they took the time to locate the four valve boxes, also underground, to avoid future problems. I recommend this company highly.
Description of Work: They found and replaced an underground break in the electrical line in my yard. They also replaced four irrigation heads.

+ -1 moreDobson's has always been a word of mouth contractor, well known in the area as honest and dependable in their work. They do not do unnecessary repairs and if they can repair it, they don't go and replace it to jack up the price. They are friendly and thorough I have recommend them to friends already.
Description of Work: They repaired seven heads on our sprinkler system and installed one new one. They repaired a leak in an underground pipe, replacing it and installed anew meter.

+ -1 moreDobson's did a fine job for me. The work went smoothly and they were able to get the irrigation system running well in a short amount of time. The only problem I had, was that they went ahead and did the work without giving me an estimate first. The price ended up being fair, but based on this I would not use them again. I do not like surprise bills.
Description of Work: They replaced several broken heads in my irrigation system and replaced the control panel for the system.

They were very nice people to deal with. I thought their price was reasonable and I can recommend them as good workers because they try to do their job well.

+ -1 moreNot good. I was expecting something in the neighborhood of $350.00, so I declined and got another estimate. That company performed the work for $204.00. They worked with existing heads to accommodate the new fence. The lawn is greening up nicely. I also noted that Dobson's quoted $75 in "miscellaneous PVC fittings and pipe" over and above the specific cost of the new heads, nozzles and rotors. At Home Depot, 8 foot pipes are about $1.00, and fittings are $0.12. You can buy A LOT of pipes and fittings for $75; I wasn't building a system from scratch! I feel strongly that this estimate was ridiculously overblown.
Description of Work: I asked for an estimate to make necessary alterations and repairs to a seven year old never-serviced irrigation system. A fence had been added after the system was installed, so the watering pattern was incorrect as well. They proposed adding several heads and moving several heads. The total estimate was $713.51. Note: The estimate is not free; cost is $60.00.

+ -1 moreDobson's was a wonderful company to work with. They arrived promptly to install the system on the day that had been scheduled after calling the day before as a reminder. They crew worked for two days. Any questions we had were promply answered and concerns were immediately addressed. After the install the company representative arrived to oversee the inspection by the city, checked the system for any problems, and review the systems operation with my husband and I. I would highly recommend this company for their workmanship and professionalism.

+ -1 moreDon was on time and very professional. He had another guy with him (I didn't get his name), they were both very friendly. They found out that wiring to the valve boxes was bad and needed to be replaced. They fixed all the wiring and also the broken sprinkler head. My valve boxes were difficult to find, so my hourly charge was a little higher. He showed me where they are now and also set my timer to run longer for a couple of weeks to get the grass to grow back. Overall, a great experience, I would hire them again.

+ -1 moreThis was as pleasant a home repair experience as I have ever had. The scheduler was terrific and called back when an earlier appointment was available. The technician was terrific--friendly and knowledgeable. He, too, called me to work me in when an earlier appointment became available and my original appointment was threatened by a coming tropical storm. I will DEFINITELY use them again and recommend them highly.
Description of Work: They diagnosed the problem with the irrigation system, which was starting up and then immediately shutting off, as a broken pump--the windings were shorted and it was not repairable. They came back to install a replacement pump that I purchased (because it was cheaper to do it that way--it is not included in the price I paid to Dobson's) and they also replaced my broken rain sensor and hooked it up. (The company that installed the irrigation system initially had not hooked up my rain sensor, which I did not know.)
