The first day they were supposed to come out they cancelled late in the afternoon. The 2nd appointment they showed up 3 hours late and half and hour into the appointment their machine broke and they left not having finished the work . I went into the hospital on Aug 8th and I got out last week and called them for a refund as the work was never completed. They said they would send a check last Friday and they keep telling me the check is in the mail. I have yet to get anything from them.

The office and the service technician were very nice, prompt, and efficient. I had forgotten to call the front gate to notify them that the technician was coming in for service. I was in a meeting at work and and didn't remember until partway through the meeting. The Pure Air office called my home and cell phone number and left messages, and the technician left a message on my cell phone. I called back and the technician waited while I called the gate and then called a neighbor to let him in. I really appreciated their flexibility! As part of the service contract, they will check the system again in 6 months. I would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: The technician checked the air conditioning system inside and outside. He performed all of the services listed in the Angie's List offer including changing the filter and cleaning out and adding algaecide to the drain. He made a few recommendations for future service.

All was well until we had issues with our water tank. Come to find out the tech unplugged and replugged our water tank into wrong sock, causing us a charge for water company to identify and plug back in. Right away the decision was made to reimburse us however after many calls of check is in the mail it took 2 months of calling before we finally received reimbursement from them.

Pure Air did not deliver the services verbally agreed upon during the consultation and they were difficult to deal with despite having the best prices. The initial consultation with Mike, the owner, went very well. He was very knowledgeable and had the best price. We discussed several times during the consultation that I wanted to have all of my ducts cleaned in addition to having one of my two AC units replaced because I have bad allergies and I wanted to start off the new unit with a totally clean system. He verbally agreed to clean all of my ducts. I obtained quotes from 3 providers including the duct cleaning and Pure Air had by far the best price so I went with them. However, the crew that showed up to do the install had poor communication skills and did not ask before doing certain things. They sprayed some sort of air "freshener" into my system that made my house smell like a cheap hotel covering up smoke and it inflamed my sinuses. It took over 2 weeks to get the smell out of my house. I had a 2-month old baby at the time which made the fumes extra worrisome. The irony is that I had to open all of my doors for several days to air out my house after getting the new AC unit installed. Then I caught one of the guys about to replace my programmable thermostat with the cheap thermostat that came with the new unit and I had to instruct him not to do that. They also cracked off the corner of the paver that the outside unit sits on and they didn't mention it to me. I had to call them to have someone come fix this and it took two visits and multiple phone calls to make that happen. The worse part is that when they were done with the install, I asked if they had cleaned all of the ducts and they said no, they only cleaned the areas where the air goes in, not where it comes out because this is what it said on the work order. I then called Mike and played phone tag with him for a month to try to get this resolved. He would always call me after business hours which I found strange and it took forever to get in touch with him. He said that he only agreed to clean the "returns" and not the "supplies" in writing, but during our consultation I explicitly asked for a duct cleaning which I assume means cleaning everything that the air flows through. He never explicitly said to me, I will only clean part of your duct system. I had to be very insistent to make him follow through and get this service performed. I almost just paid someone else to do it. He was very condescending on the phone and made me feel like I was trying to pull one over on him or spoke to me as if I were stupid. I have a master's degree from Harvard, so I don't think I deserve his badgering, although being a paying customer should be enough to get some respect. It was a real hassle to deal with them in the end. The guy who finally did the duct cleaning told me the first team had put all the filters in backwards. Be very clear about what you are getting. They seemed great at first, but once an issue arose and they already had my money, their tune changed.

Secondly, we have on the contract that we would do a duct sanitization, this is a deodorizer as well and we will have to look into the different scents they offer (pretty sure cheap hotel wasn't an option). The gentleman that came were very polite and professional. They tuned up my air conditioner and replaced all the filters inside my house. They advised me that one of the parts outside could eventually rust out and cost me a lot of money if the coolent leaked out and that the price to move that part inside would be $675. I deferred that until later. They also told me about their maintenance programs and I did sign up for a year at the cost of $125. They come every six months to tune the air conditioner up and replace the filters inside my house.

There was not the usual cleaning, except the "snot pipe," which I brought up. Two young men came out, the younger appearing to be an apprentice, who changed the filter. The senior member was, it seemed to me, here only to pronounce my outside unit as in need of replacement, not to diagnose or treat any problems that could cause high pressure readings, such as CLEANING THE COILS (I am told coil obstruction could cause high pressure readings). He assessed my coils as "rusted...in poor condition...." If my unit fails, I will probably not seek a quote from this company. Update: The owner of the company called me and the conversation started with his refuting my comments, because it gave his company a bad review. But, the fact remains that they didn't perform any cleaning, and didn't do any further investigation to narrow down the cause of their assessment of needing to replace the whole unit. I stated that I did not like the way the conversation was going, upon which the owner offered to refund my $59 if I would retract the review. I replied that I didn't want to sell my soul for $59. We discussed having another technician come out, but I had lost confidence in this provider and did not schedule another visit. Instead, I called another company with which I am not currently dealing, but whose owner has a good reputation in the community. Their assessment was that the unit has some age on it, and it is not as efficient as new units, but it is generally performing as well as can be expected. It turns out the high reading the technician was continuously pointing to was amperage draw, which doesn't, in and of itself, justify replacing the unit. It's immediate effect is that I may pay a little more on my electric bill. They said their company has received many calls about air conditioners struggling during the past several weeks, but the weather has been hotter than usual, and they even saw this with the unit cooling their own office. My unit does cool and dehumidify satisfactorily to us, and it does cycle on and off as it should. As long as it continues to keep our home cool and dehumidified, immediate replacement isn't necessary. Update 2: They didn't even change the filter I provided! They told me the old one had fallen down and was not filtering, but I assumed they had at least put in the new one I provided!
Description of Work: Very little. The description of the service includes "CLEAN," which they didn't do. They changed the filter, which was supplied by me, hooked up gauges, and, without further investigation of which component of the compressor unit might be at fault, pronounced it in need of replacement.

Coolant valve was not properly tightened and by the weekend all the coolant was gone. We were told the technician was booked up and would call us tomorrow. This is unacceptable. Our system was fine until Pure Air performed maintenance on it and then they refused to promptly address the problem. Very unhappy.

Our experience was probably unique as I am sure the owner has only the best service intentions for his customers on the very first visit. We unfortunately had to deal with a less experience technician first and we understand newbies have to cut their teeth in the field to gain experience, but the first visit and experience fell well short of satisfaction or professionalism. Lucky for us, they heard our concern and sent us Josh, who not only diagnosed the problem but offered us viable solutions. We will use this company in the future and I highly recommend you put your trust in Michael, the owner and his more than qualified technician Josh who restored our trust and earned our respect and business. They will make it right and they stand behind their work. We were really impressed and again, highly recommend you put your trust with this company.

It went great. They offered a really good deal on a brand new one and there was a problem with the roof leaking and everything and it was all taken care of by my condominium and they installed the new air conditioner within a week and it's working great since. They showed up on time when they said they would and they did the job like they said they would. It was a good price. It was a central air. What complicated it was it was on the roof of a condo so they had to coordinate bringing in a crane and everything. Once they took the old air conditioning off, the home association actually had people go up to fix leaks in the roof.

The two technicians showed up on time and were very courteous. I was not at home, but my father-in-law greeted them and stated that they were very professional. They conducted their work thoroughly and did not leave a mess like some other contractors had done. After the service they left a detailed report showing what they had done and any recommendations to make our AC work better. They also informed us of yearly and multi-year plans that included service calls and reductions on parts and labor costs. This company was to come out and clean the air ducts. An appointment was made, but they called and cancelled it. We were able to reschedule, but they never showed up for this appointment. The service was excellent. The service Tech, Josh, called ahead and advised he was on the way and would arrive in 15 minutes. He arrived promptly and immediately went to work. He was very professional and explained what he did including vacuuming out excess water and putting a pound of Feron in the system which was included in the service. He suggested an annual tune up at the beginning of the Summer but did not pressure for a service contract or anything. Josh gave us his number and advised that if we had an issues to give him a call. The service call was great. Good work without high pressure sales. Great coupon from Angie's List the cost was less than the cost of the one pound of the freon.
