+ -1 moreI was extremely pleased with his service and quick turnaround. His prices were incredibly reasonable, actually cheaper than my husband had predicted. While Bill was onsite, I commented that I had a plumbing issue that I needed to fix, too, and he volunteered to take a look. He happened to have the exact ring needed for the sink drain and fixed that instantly. He did a bit of trouble-shooting on the disposal, too. Definitely went above and beyond the call of duty. I now have Bill and Action Appliance Service on my speed dial. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Bill answered my distress call at 8:15am and arrived at my home at 9:45am the same day to fix the broken belt on my dryer. Fortunately, he had the correct size in his truck. He was in and out in under 30 minutes.

+ -1 moreI've had some real nightmares but Bill was wonderful. He came last Thursday and had to order a part. He came today and installed the part after it arrived. He was prompt, nice, and clean. He was efficient, reasonably priced, and patient. I can't say enough good things about Bill.

He came at 10:00 am and figured out that I had a switch that had gone bad on my washer. He quoted me a price and he fixed it on the spot as he had the part on his truck. He was very nice and professional. I would use again.

+ -1 moreWhen I called, the owner (Bill Letchworth) answered the phone and told me that he was doing a repair in the area and may be able to stop by today. If not, he would be here tomorrow. He also stated that it might only be a fuse and if so, the repair would be fairly easy. About 1 1/2 hours later he called me to say he was on his way. He and a young man came in a clean white van. They were both clean, neat and polite (they even put up with my 3 yapping dogs without batting an eye) and had a very professional demeanor. Bill stated that it might be a fuse and sure enough, no hugely expensive part and no huge bill. To my surprise he only charged me $88 for the repair!!! Rest assured that I intend to call this company to repair any major appliance that breaks. They are prompt, friendly and competent. I do not hesitate to highly recommend this appliance repair company to anyone.
Description of Work: Eight year old dryer stopped working yesterday and I was sure it was a goner. Started looking at the prices of new appliances and still can't get over the sticker shock. Was reluctant to call an applicance repair company because I was certain that they would tell me it needs to be replaced AND charge me for a trip charge of course. I decided to be brave and see if there was anyone on Angiie's list. Action Appliance Service was first on the list and had an A rating so I called them and now, 2 hours from the time I called them, I am sitting here typing this review with a load of clothes in the dryer. Now when does THAT ever happen!

+ -1 moreWhen they arrived, they were clean, courteous and efficient. They quickly determined the problem and he even had the part on his truck that would fix the refrigerator. I am very impressed and would recommend Action Appliance Service to anyone who has an appliance problem.
Description of Work: My refrigerator was not cooling as the bottom freezer was completely frozen over. When Bill Letchworth returned my phone call, he asked for the model number to determine the age of the refrigerator (if it was worth fixing) and to check out the manuals. I was impressed that he would try to determine the potential to repair the refrigerator without charging me for a service call.

+ -1 moreI left a message with Action Appliance Service to call me about my washing machine. Bill Letchworth, the owner of Action Appliance Service, called me and helped me fix my washing machine right over the phone! After we got it running, he told me to call him if the same thing happened again. He asked me to not do anything to it, if it wouldn't turn on again, because he would like to come out and see exactly why/what was causing the problem . It has been over a week and the machine is running fine. He didn't charge me anything for his time troubleshooting this for me and I really appreciated his help and expertise. I am going to send him $20 because he could have made a service call and could have charged me whatever sum he felt was appropriate (or more likely was not appropriate). He demonstrated that he's a good and honest person and I wouldn't hesitate to contact him again for service.
Description of Work: Fixed my machine by giving me instructions over the phone!

+ -1 moreI had a freezer that wasn't freezing and called Action Appliance based on reviews from here. I called around 8:30am and the owner Bill Letchworth was here by 10:30am. He quickly guessed that the problem was the defrosting mechanism. Apparently it was a common problem. He was finished with the repair before noon. I appreciated his rapid work and professionalism.
Description of Work: The defrosting mechanism for my GE side-by-side freezer was replaced.

Description of Work: Refrigerator fan for cooling coils was making alot of noise. He ordered the part before he came based on the model. When he got here the fan was slightly different and wouldn't fit. He took the old fan motor apart and oiled the pad in it, put it back together and the refrigerator is running fine. He said if the repair didn't last he would come back and replace the motor and just charge for the motor and not another service call.

It did not take them long to detect the problem in our refrigerator at all. They knew their stuff. Their price was pretty reasonable. We would definitely use them again in the future if needed.

Description of Work: Our GE (4 year old) ice maker stopped working. I called Action Appliance and they came out the same day to repair it! The serviceman had to replace the motor in the icemaker. Very professional and it has worked fine ever since. The bill was lower than the one for GE to service our microwave 4 months earlier.

+ -1 moreAs I did not know any dependable appliance repair people in the area, I called Angie's List for recommendations. The service man came out the following day and found that I had not been operating it properly (the dishwasher at my home up north was different). After showing me how I had been skipping the fill cycle, he said that as long as he was there, he would check the pump underneath. He found a slow leak, and said that while it was still usable, I should replace it before leaving.
Description of Work: The service man came out to repair my dishwasher, which would not fill with water. He got it to fill, and explained to me that I had been turning the control too fast, skipping over the fill cycle and getting only a grinding sound. He showed me the three points in the cycle where the water came in. He also found a pump leaking and recommended that I replace the dishwasher sometime soon, although it was OK to use it for now. The leak had already done a little swelling damage to the wall.

+ -1 moreTo the best of my knowledge, he appears to be a one man operation. Therefore, all calls to his company are handled by him personally. He's quick, knowledgeable and efficient.
Description of Work: I have had 2 experiences with this repairman. The 1st was several years ago when I was purchasing my condo. One of the major appliances was malfunctioning and the Realtor sent this repairman to fix the problem at the seller's expense. After making repairs, I asked him to check other major appliances. He did so and found that they were running well but would soon require repair. When I suggested that he might do the repairs before the problems got worse, he informed us that it would be wiser to ultimately buy new appliances. His honestly cost him additional fees. Several years later, when our refrigerator's fan motor stopped working, we immediately called him. He had a generic replacement motor that would work but it made much more noise than the original. In the interest of protecting the food in the fridge, he installed the noisy motor. He than ordered a factory replacement which took several days to arrive. When it did, he returned to our home and installed it at no additional cost.
