 + -1 moreThe job went fine and it looks great - we've received compliments but most important, we like it and the work was well done. The installers were punctual, adept, and well-mannered. They cleaned up after themselves and showed concern about the finish product and also that we were happy with it. The business owner, Jamie, came by before and after the work and checked to make sure all was good after the inspectors for the permit OK'd installation. The cost was high but I think he was mid-priced compared to other vendors that we checked; plus we did get rainglass in the glass panel part of the door (see photos) instead of the less expensive obscured film so that added to the cost. There was good communication throughout. We would hire this company again.
Description of Work: Replaced the front double entry doors with impact doors.

 + 0 moreThey're all A's. They were excellent. The doors are really big. I had four doors in and each of the doors were like 8 feet by 10 feet. They came in and they took the four doors out. I had visions of glass everywhere, and they just carried them out and that was that. And then they installed the new doors the same day, so everything was closed up by the time they left that night. They came back the next day to do finishing work. But they did an excellent, excellent, excellent job.
Description of Work: This was for the installation of a big, big, big sliding glass door, the whole length of the house.

We had an issue with the manufacturer at one point (not SRW&D), but Jamie made sure the issue was resolved. We get lots of compliments on the door, and it looks great (really improved the look of entry way and is very secure).

 + 1 moreThis was the 2 nd time we hired Jamie and his crew. He had previously replaced all the windows about 2 years ago. We were so happy with the work and product that we saved up until we could get the doors done as well. In both cases, the work was delivered on time and budget as promised.They took care of all the permits and cleanup work as well. I would absolutely recommend them.In fact I already have done so to a friend who admired the results.

HIS INSTALLERS WERE TOTALLY PROFESSIONAL , KNOWLEDGABLE , FRIENDLY, EXTREMELY CURRENT WITH INSTALLING DOORS AND WINDOWS WERE INSTALLED , AND THE INSTALLERS MOVED QUICKLY FROM ONE PORTION OF THE INSALL TO THE NEXT , IN BOTH HOUSES, AT THE SAME TIME .. ..  + 0 moreSatisfied with windows; extremely dissatisfied with doors! This is a pricey investment, which a homeowner should not only be at peace with the safety it provides, but also be satisfied with it cosmetically. Update, 5/31/17: Further to my comment of May 30, 2017, my initial correspondence to Mr. Schaeffer was cordial: ..."we need you to secure the plugs on the two large patio doors.... ...plugs can be easily removed.... ...an extremely serious matter that needs to be handled as soon as possible...." After Schaeffer's response, I posted my dissatisfaction on Angie's List. Schaeffer stated that we could discuss solutions to my issues as soon as I removed my comment of dissatisfaction on this site, and NOT before. In a second text, Schaeffer said to remove the defamatory posting and he will cheerfully look at solutions. Could this be a threat?! I expressed that I would change the rating as soon as the plugs were secure. Mr. Schaeffer disagreed. I feel Mr. Schaeffer did not handle my issue in a professional and adult manner. For this reason, I have changed my "professionalism" rating to an F. I do not want any future dealings with this company and have contacted someone that will be securing the 55 plugs each set of doors contains so that I can have peace of mind.
Description of Work: Contractor was contracted via Ygrene for the replacement of all windows and doors to impact windows and doors. The front doors were already impact windows and NOT installed by this contractor and I am very pleased with them. The contractor completely missed his initial appointment. There were other competitors with more appealing windows-doors-prices. I was hesitant but my husband convinced me to give the work to a smaller outfit. Windows were installed to my satisfaction. Doors are not to my satisfaction, however. There are more than two dozen holes throughout each set of doors covered with plastic caps. When I pointed the holes out to the installer, they said they would be covered after inspection passed. I understood that the final product would look like my front door which doesn't have a trace of any plugs; rather, it is beautifully finished. I brought this to Mr. Schaeffer's attention and he stated those were doors I selected. I was shown a small compact window with a finish that I was satisfied with and Mr. Shaffer had been at our home and seen our front door. We are a large family with children ranging in all ages. Recently, two toddlers were visiting, on two different occasions, and they pulled out one of the plastic plugs; one had the plug in their mouth, a huge choke hazard. All this occurred in a room full of adults. Today I advised Mr. Shaffer of this situation and his response follows: "As for the door fastener plugs, if you feel they are a hazard to toddlers in your house, my advice is to remove them immediately and either discard them or put them hidden away until the toddlers in your house are old enough to know better than to play with potential choking hazards. Neither I not my company will be held responsible for any accidents resulting from unsupervised toddlers playing with things that their adult guardians should not allow them to touch. I have advised you to immediately remove and discard all plastic door fastener plugs within reach of the toddlers in your house for their safety. " Mr. Schaefer, If I remove these plugs, A child can easily put their fingers in the hole(s) and the fingers can get stuck or they can cut themselves with the metal. This is not a solution Mr. Schaeffer!

The original estimate seemed high at first compared to competing quotes, however the competing quotes were all for inferior products - thus Superior's prices were actually very competitive. Also, the price was guaranteed to be final with no additional costs - which remained the case even though some of the installation turned out to be more difficult than anticipated. They were very knowledgeable about the construction of my home, the general area, and consistently provided me with accurate information when other companies failed to. Permitting and inspection were completed without a hitch. The capable crew was present every day from 8AM until 5PM or later, until the job was complete. They were gentlemen, very careful with my belongings, and even more so with my pets - very important to me. Seems like a family oriented business - one of the workmen even noticed I had a shell garden and brought me a gift of shells to add! I could name names but everyone I dealt with answered phone calls, called back promptly, and was thorough and informative.

I've asked Superior to help resolve the issue, and in good faith, I paid them in full prior to resolution. For now, it feels like Superior doesn't intend to address the issue.

 + 0 moreIt went exceptionally well. The windows/doors are very attractive and well-made. They were installed quickly and without creating a lot of mess inside or outside the home. The workers were courteous and did all the furniture moving that was needed to do the work and return the furniture and house to the way it was before they began to work. I am exceptionally well-satisfied -- so much so that we have used this company to subcontract window installations in both residential and commercial construction jobs that we have undertaken (my son and I are licensed general contractors). Their work on these jobs has been first-rate as well -- our customers have had the same extremely positive experience as we have. This is a great company to do business with. They communicate extremely well, are honest, reliable, and do great work. I recommend them as highly as possible! A++++++++.
Description of Work: I had SRW&D, Inc. replace all the windows in my house and my guest house (about 40 large impact-resistant windows) in three separate jobs (each separated by about 1 year). They also replaced an exit door in my guest house and I will use them again (in about a year) to finish my house by replacing 8 metal-clad impact-resistant French doors that lead onto a porch.

 + 2 moreProbably the best contractor I've ever worked with, either for home or business. The installation went flawlessly, despite some "older house" issues with our residence. Work was solid, professional, and passed inspection with flying colors. Alejandro and his team were considerate, reliable, and left the work space neat as a pin. He also made sure to communicate their schedule and work plan to me -- I never once wondered where they were or what was going to be installed next. All in all, a wonderful experience!! I'd rate them A-triple plus if that were possible!

He is honest, dependable and the products he uses are top notch and reasonable priced. My brother is a contractor and he rated the quality of the work outstanding. Jamie went above and beyond to assist us in finding a painter and locksmith for the doors since we live out of town. We recommend SRD&W and Jamie w/o any reservations whatsoever. They really provide outstanding service and workmanship at a modest price. We would use them again in a heartbeat.
