Orange Movers

I hired Orange Movers to do a relatively short move, from Doral, FL to Fort Lauderdale at the end of September 2020 – about 35 miles all told. What a disaster! If you like your stuff arriving undamaged and fully intact, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Here’s my experience: -The guys showed up smelling of marijuana, with a truck that was already 25% full. -They irreparably damaged my $400 40” 4K HD Smart TV (worth about $6 based on their insurance). -They ripped the leather padding on my $1600 headboard and put a massive scratch into the wood (along with nicks and small scratches on the frame). -They put a MASSIVE gouge in my $650 entertainment unit. -They put my $500 corner desk together wrong – pinched the power cord between the top and shelving, rendering it useless – along with NUMEROUS chips, nicks and scrapes. -They scratched the glass-top of my $400 printer/scanner. On top of all that, because they couldn’t fit all of my stuff into their truck, they charged me $375 to haul the rest of it to my new place the next day … and because I had to turn the apartment over in two days, I had little choice in the matter. I had a manager (Milo) come out and survey the damage and he was very apologetic, saying ‘we’ll obviously take care of this TV and the other things – I have a wood & leather repair person who can fix the headboard and cover up the scrapes and scratches’. I was told to submit an insurance claim form and found out there that they are only insuring things for $0.60/lb – 60-cents per pound. So a $1000 TV that weights 10lbs gets you $6 (the extra FULL insurance is an additional $295 … GET IT!). I filled out the insurance claim, submitted it two weeks ago, contacted the salesperson (Johnnie) who I dealt with and have not heard a single word from them since … and I likely won’t. As a journalist, I have relocated a lot and used discount movers before with absolutely phenomenal service and care for my stuff. This time, I got EXACTLY what I paid – ****** service from a ****** company. Again, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Pay a little more and avoid the issues I had. These guys are terrible.

To start, the move was scheduled between 9am to 10am. The company was very punctual. This was the only positive about my experience. The company sent 3 movers to load and unload a 2-bedroom 2nd floor apartment. All of my items were packed and ready for moving. The only exception were the 2-king beds which required minor disassembling. I removed all items from the dressers and advised them that the sofa fold for ease of move. I found that the move started very strange when one of the movers was not dressed in the moving company's attire. In addition, he was very curt and immediately stated that this move would take several hours. I found that to be odd because I have previously moved, with similar circumstances and it only took 3 hours total (example: I moved from a 4th floor high rise to a 2nd floor apartment with no elevator). I was presented this ridiculously lengthy contract and the mover just wanted me to sign without reading. I definitely read the contract before signing (reading of the contract was including with the time for the move). It took them 2.5 hours to just load my belongings onto the truck. Then another 2 hours just to unload with no set-up (folding of the padding took them 20 minutes and that was included with the time). To make matters worse, during transport the back of the truck was open and my belongings were exposed to the elements. Also, they had someone else's belongings on the truck (this was unacceptable, those belongings could have had bed bugs or worse). Someone else's belongs is why it took so long to load because there wasn't enough space for my items. The head mover stated that the company changed trucks on them at the last minute. Some of my items were broken in transit (many boxes were crushed). Only compensation the head mover mentioned was that he would give me a break and stop the clock. To make matters worse; they were quite disappointed that I didn't provide a larger tip & the head mover reeked of alcohol or really high-alcohol infused cologne. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. I AM TRULY DISAPPOINTED

My husband has used them to move his office and then we decided to use them. We have used a different company in our previous moves. They were fine. They were not punctual. We had some hiccups but it all worked out in the end. I remember them being late the day of the move. They were very careful.

At first I was a bit weary dealing with a moving company because of some negative experiences I have heard about. But, Orange Movers came to my apartment and did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend them. They are reasonably priced and very professional. They wrapped all my furniture and boxed my tv, free of charge. I would definitely use them again in the future.
