Greenstar Landscaping & Irrigation

Peter emailed me a quote that was ridiculously high compared to the other quotes we were given. It included a complete revamp of the system even though he had not even tested the system from what another irrigation company said (i.e., the other irrigation company said it had to set the timer to see if the sprinklers worked and perform other work necessary to evaluating the sprinkler system). I found out later that I could have gotten a quote for free and, in the end, I hired a company that gave me a free quote charged a lot less than what Greenstar quoted.

Spoke with Greenstar about pressure cleaning pool patio and driveway. Peter claimed he'd drop by and send estimate. Never heard back, either by phone or email. Hmmm...must not need work.

I contacted Greenstar through the Angie's List Message Center and received a response within 48 hours. We worked out a day that was convenient for me. Greenstar was very courteous and stayed in touch with me offering me earlier appointments as they opened up until the original day of service. The two technicians William and Clinton were punctual calling to let me know they were on their way and again when they arrived at our home. They were polite, professional, personable, friendly with our pets and very knowledgeable. I explained our concerns since at our former home in the Mid-Atlantic area had a 10 zone system for a similar size property with a much better & user friendly digital system with an annual service contract. They got to work immediately checking and inspecting our system. William explained what was going on with our system and made recommendations. We were very pleased that they had the parts & materials on their service vehicle and could make all of the repairs the same day. While here William informed me about Greenstar's annual and renewable service agreements. I have since signed up for their gold plan. We are now waiting to receive an estimate from Greenstar to convert our Intermatic Controller to a digital controller. We are extremely pleased with our experience and highly recommend Greenstar.

They did a really good job. Whenever we call them they come right out. I would recommend them and I would call them again. I paid extra to have them replace some broken sprinkler heads.

Greenstar Landscaping services were incredible. They trimmed/pruned our garden/trees in a very professional and careful way. What we liked the most was the care they take with the trees/plants. They are very knowledgeable and honest. They were punctual every day and work hard. Great service overall. We are now looking in to redoing our irrigation system with them and having quarterly fertilisation. We highly recommend them.

It went pretty well and they did good work. The only thing was they came back and claimed the work was more difficult than anticipated and requested $500 extra. We settled and I said I would use them again if they kept up the good work. I just hoped the would have stuck within the budget.

He wanted to redo my who sprinkler system. I didn't like that. He wanted to charge me an additional 2000 Dollars, and it was like a gimmick. I wasn't too happy about that.

Very Satisfied with the work done. They did all that they said they were going to do. They did have to increase the estimated cost by a few dollars as the leaking underground pipe was old and made of galvanized metal not PVC. I understood and did not mind as it now required additional parts. They knew what they were doing.

This did not work out as I thought. They came out and said they were going to do the tune up. I asked for him to dig up the sprinkler heads and he did not do so. He looked at the water line and said I had a problem and needed to replace a part for $300. I thought the tune up would include him digging up the sprinkler heads to make sure they were working properly. In the deal description, it would say they would check the individual heads and check the timer. He also did check or explain the timer. I would not use their services again.

In a word. Beautiful! Peter and his team were able to create an amazing front and backyard. I do'nt know much about landscaping but I knew what I wanted my place to look like. Peter was able to help me by first sending me pictures then walking around my neiboorhood checking out what would work and would not work. Then he presented a proposal and a plan of action. Once the work started it was amazing how fast everything went and how easy they made it look! In one day they cleared all the current landscaping and the next day they got going with the new stuff. Another big surprise for me was the type of plants that he brought. For example: we added 4 palm trees and I did not realze but they were big! they looked beautiful. Peter and his team will be my landscape company for good. One final comment, now we get so many complements on front house and I have seen numerous people stopping by to take pictures. In Summary, it was a great experience and I would do it again.

He gave me some advice on how my sprinklers would perform better, but I wasn't ready at this time to fix those problems.

They were great. They were excellent and absolutely professional. Peter showed up on time. His crew was very clean, performed the service, and did follow up work. They came out 2 days after I purchased the deal. I paid an additional amount for the service. They were extremely helpful in resolving my problem. I had water leaks. They were absolutely dependable.

It was ok, there were no complaints

I had originally hired them to do a tune up for my sprinkler system because I knew that one head was broken and several were not turning properly. When he came out, I found out had many more problems than I realized, including a break in one of the lines. He showed me around both zones and pointed out the issues with each sprinkler head. Last summer we re-landscaped our back yard but did not adjust the sprinklers accordingly, so it's muddy in one area and dry in others. He gave me several options, one being to just fix the immediate problem of the broken head and broken line. There was not hard sell, he just gave me the facts. I ended up having them re-do the entire system and am so happy that I did. The two men that installed the system were awesome. They knew what they were doing and I would highly recommend them. Wherever they dug up the sod they put it back down so you hardly even notice where they put in the new lines. In addition to this, they offer a maintenance agreement to avoid issues in the future. Now my sprinkler system will be one less thing that I have to think about. Thanks Greenstar!

I sent a message to GreenStar Landscaping via Angie's List, received an automated reply thanking me for purchasing a sprinkler tune-up (they had a special at $29 at that time) even though i didn't purchase any and sent a message asking for a quote on landscaping project... Anyway it took then about a week to get contacted by phone to set up a meeting. Peter came out on a Saturday (which I had asked since I couldn't see him during the week so that was great), we discussed the needs and he said he would come back on Monday to take all the dimensions and send a detailed proposal. The following week no news, then Peter called back to check if I still needed an estimate, I did , so he finally came , took all the dimension and sent me a very well detailed proposal. Even though responsiveness wasn't the best I appreciated the time Peter took to work on that itemized quote , which I must say looked very professional. In the end I didn't contract Peter because his quotes were much higher than quotes I received for the same scope of work by 2 other providers equally well ranked on Angies List.

Two days later there arrived a group of four of his team, all clearly experts, they worked - all four of them some 6-7 hours, in the meantime I was discussing with them other issues since they also knew a great deal about trees, palms, type of mulch I should buy. Then they shown me all of the essentially new system before they left. All heads were replaced, they were telling me how many gallons each of them was throwing - it was real science, they shown me that they dug in not just to repair some rotten plastic pipes but also remove them to locations from which they could actually work and water. I could see that there are no longer dry places in my garden and that is important. My garden is a major investment and if for example the bushes alongside my fence did not get water they would die. And at the end of it they applied a 10% discount of the Angie's list. It was not cheap but good value, it needed to be done properly, not just one or two heads replaced by something the gardeners bought in the Home Depot. These were all proper heads - and yes - they also made sure that the angle of each of the sprinklers was right and then in the end they set up for me the automatic system so that all of the watering can take place in the middle of the night so that my dogs do not get excited and "attack" (and damage) the sprinklers)

I purchased the irrigation tune-up coupon and, as requested, selected 3 dates for the service to be performed. Two of the 3 dates selected went by and I still hadn't heard from the contractor so, at that point, I decided to call him. We agreed on a date and he arrived at my house on time. He asked me to turn on the sprinkler system and he walked around my yard with my husband. He told my husband that we had a sprinkler head broken (he marked it with a flag) and that we had dry areas in our front yard. From seeing our sprinkler system every day, we could tell that too. Then the service provider said that it would cost around $3000 to redo our sprinkler system. When I asked him at what point he did the tune-up, he said that the coupon was for a diagnosis, and that there wasn't any offering to perform a service. He offered to check the sprinkler's timer, to which my husband said it had already been checked by somebody else. However he insisted in seeing it because that was part of the deal. As said before, this is an elegant way to pay for a quote. The coupon should clarify that the service is a 'diagnosis' and then have people decide if that is something they value----or not. ****I want to clarify that this review is not against the provider because it is very hard to evaluate a company based on this brief interaction. My complaint is against the wording in the coupon. ****

Peter came out a few months ago to look at the system. He noted a few minor problems, but priced the work much higher than the other estimates I received. I saw Greenstar's "tune-up" deal on Angieslist for $32 and bought it since it specifically said he would check for line leaks, which I long suspected I had. He came by and sent me a quote later in the day. One of the items in the work he quoted was checking for line leaks. I sent him an email asking for him to clarify why this work was quoted and not performed as per the details of deal I purchased. He responded promptly asking me to call him. I have a super busy weekend and didn't have time to call, so I politely requested he respond in email - better for me and in writing. He responded reiterating that I call him and has refused to respond to my simple, one-question inquiry by email. Aside from clearly being rude and terrible customer service, it just makes me more suspicious and less trusting. Why can't he answer a simple question by email? In any case, $32 down the drain and I still don't know if I have line leaks.

He didn't tell me when he was coming and I had someone else working on the house at that time. I couldn't really spend time with him. And, when I walked around with him and showed him the problems, he said he would need more money.

I needed some adjustments on my timer and all of the sprinkler heads checked to see if they were hitting the plans and grass properly. William Corbett is very knowledgeable and professional and did a great job. Since I have a mobility problem I wasn't aware that some of the sprinklers were leaking or broken, he took care of everything and tested after making adjustments to make sure eerthing would work properly.
