Over that previous weekend... I saw one of our two units dripping water, and realized the drain had become clogged, Immediately, I threw some towels down at the first couple of drips, and shut the unit off to avoid any damage, before the automatic shut off feature was tripped. We choose to go without fixing the AC in the bedroom areas for the weekend, rather than pay a higher rate for an after hours visit. I called first thing on Monday morning and they sent two techs out within an hour! I chose to join what Edd Helms calls " the fun club" which includes two routine cleanings and check ups in a calendar year... cost was a total of $ 295 which included our two units. I've signed up for this "fun club" special once in the past, and it worked out well then too. Overall, I was happy with the experience with the exception of one mistake. I turned the unit off right away, before water had pooled or leaked onto the floor. When the tech came to service the unit, rather than use rags or a pan to collect the water that spilled while he performed service... he let the water run right on the floor... leaking out of the closet and under a tiny section of the hardwood floor in our bedroom.. causing the floor to warp. Since the portion of the floor, is behind our bedroom door, (on the opposite side of the wall where the air handler is installed)... and refinishing just a tiny portion would be hard to match with the rest of the floor, and probably be a much bigger deal to repair than it would be worth going through the hassle... I just let it go without reporting it. I'm sure most people would freak out over something like this, but the tech hadn't realized what had happened. I just wish he would have asked me for rags or a towel :-( Otherwise, since I'm happy with the actual work, I plan to use them again.

It was the first time I had used them. It was a nightmare. They were by fare the most expensive, but I didn't care about price, I just wanted the job done right. The unit kept breaking repeatedly. They were supposed to build a new platform for the unit, but they just reused the old one. They seemed to overcharge for out of warranty work and they borrow their HVAC license from another company.

I call them a Sunday morning around 1 in the morning and at three I had every thing repaired. They charged me for the late night service and for a part that had to be verified (it was not on the truck at the time so they use one that was an alternative), a couple a days later I received a complain from the neighbords about the noise the equipment was making and had to call them for a technical sheet for the part, since they could not get it from the manufacturer they came took the part ( that was changed already by another service because of the noise) and refund me completely for the part.

I called Edd Helms for a quote after looking at their reviews on Angie's list. They sent a sales person to my home and he did a thorough job specifying and pricing the job. He also told us about various rebates and tax deductions that would result in our installing a more effecent unit. I signed the contract and was told the installers would be here in two weeks. Two installers came to my house and told me they would stay until the job was finished, no matter how long it took. They finished in about four hours and cleaned up after themselves in a professional manner.

My appointment was for late afternoon on the day I called but I was contacted and asked if the workers could come earlier. The two men who showed up were very polite and very friendly but professional in their dealings. They found the problem quickly and explained to me what needed to be done and what the cost would be. They had to work outside in the rain but completed the job and got my upstairs A/C working again. Dion (sp?) and Jose are a credit to their company.

Even though this company only changed 2 fuses that took 15 minutes at the most to complete all the work, they charged me $265. I was very disappointed with how much this cost. They said that it was that high because it was a "repair" and that is the rate for a repair. They even said they gave me one fuse for free. I was also informed if I hadn't been a value club member it would have been $312 dollars.

My old air conditioning unit (upstairs) broke down on a hot July Saturday, with a house full of guests. I called many companies including the ones recommended by Angie's List. Most did not even return my call but Ed Helms did and from the very beginning I was impressed with their professional tone and eagerness to serve. They tried to solve my problem as soon as it was possible. They did an excellent job and I am very pleased and would gladly recommend them.

I got 9 quotes for this job. This was the only one who wouldn’t provide a phone quote for any part of the job & insisted on sending someone out. I provided them with the model, unit, & tonnage I needed. Everyone else was willing to give a quote on material cost when given this information I provided. They stated to me this was company policy not to quote any price before coming out for a consultation. I found this to be very strange & it stopped the process cold with this company I'm afraid. If I had to visit for an hour with 9 different companies just to get some ballpark of the price, it would have been a tremendous waste of my time & theirs.

Our air conditioner was broken in the FLORIDA SUMMER ON SUNDAY, and we callled Edd Helms because they offered 24 hour emergency service, THANK GOD! We called and within 1 hour a serviceman, Victor, promptly came and explained everything to my husband before he actually proceeded with the work. He was super professional and knowledgeable. He even wrote out a detailed invoice. He did advice us that the compressor is failing and the entire unit will need to be replaced so we will now begin to get estimates for this major change. But in the meantime, we will be cool and not rushed to make a quick and costly decision. We highly recommend this company...and Victor.

I have used them many times. They are a little more expensive than other companies, but they do a really good job. They do everything according to code. They do quality work. They come when they say they will come. I will continue to use Ed Helms Electrical in the future.

Called Helms for electrical repair. Spoke to John Grazia who was at my home within twenty minutes after my call. John recognized the problem immediately and told me an employee would make the repairs the next morning at 8:00 AM. The next day Amauri Diaz showed up five minutes early and repaired the electrical connection. The charge was $100.00. I was in shock considering the promptness of John and Amauri and the excellent work for such a reasonable price. The service rendered by Helms was the finest ever received by me!

We absolutely love them. They were fantastic. We went on Angie's List and we found Edd Helms, called them, and they sent a guy out and he repaired the initial problem. Later on in the day we realized that the air conditioner had not turned off, so we called them back. It was a Friday and by the time we realized that the air conditioner had not gone off since he had made the repair the house was freezing. We called back during after hours and they were able to connect us with the same repair man. We told him what was going on. He fixed the problem until he got it right and we couldn't believe it. It was great. He didn't charge us an after hours fee because he felt that it was something he should have gotten the first time around. He went above and beyond what he needed to do. We were very pleased with that.

I've been using them for 18 years. They are very reliable.

Requested a quote for electrical and A/C unit. Received what I thought was a completely outrageous quote for the electrical work. When I asked them for additional information on how long it would take, they never responded to me!!! I also asked for a quote on an A/C unit and they never responded.I would never even consider using this firm in the future based on what they did and what they did not do!!

Got home from a trip overseas to find hot air blowing through the house and the compressor outside not turning on. Called the company, they said they could have someone out in two hours, but that it would be overtime service and I agreed to that. (It's Florida. We take AC very seriously here.) Repairman showed up on time, diagnosed the problem, had the part to fix it, fixed it, and explained the issue in detail. Also took readings to make sure the compressor was running properly afterward. Could not have asked for better service, The price was a bit of a twinge, but it was more important for me to get the AC fixed that night because i was leaving on travel again the next morning and they got the job done.

We decided not to proceed but had no problem with this company. They showed up on time and did a very professional job of inspecting our central air conditioner and giving us an estimate.

I would like to extoll the outstanding job the employee of Edd Helms Electric And Air Conditioning Company have exhibited. Their dispatcher for the electric department was so compassionate, caring, and understanding for my particular situation. The electrician was extremely professional and courteous and even performed another task without hesitation that was not on his work schedule. When I wanted to say how understanding the dispatcher was, I called him and the supervisor was so kind and understanding. They even gave me a 10% discount for being and Angie's List!

I had mixed feelings about the service. They didn’t diagnose the problem correctly. They told me what they thought the problem was which didn’t turn out to be the problem.

Citizens home owners insurance required us to replace our fuse type box electrical panel with a breakers type electrical panel for insurance purposes. I called Edd Helms and they came out for an estimate. They charge $90 for this service but if you hire them they deduct the $90 from the total cost. I also had a $300 off coupon from Angies list. The cost after deductions was $1076. We hired them and the day was set. They came on time and did the job . The job takes most of the day and we were without electricity for the time. The technician ran a line for us to power our refrigerator and even offered to power our TV to help pass the time. I had to fax the receipt to Citizens to prove the job was done, but they didn't seem to be happy with that. The people at Edd Helms went out of their way to email receipts and provide confirmation to Citizens that the job was complete. I will be keeping them on the top of my list for electrical work and would recommend them to others.

On time, professional, quick! You don't see service like this anymore, awesome company!

The service people were very polite and professional, they were very informative. The office staff was not very good about communicating. No one from the office called for a follow up or even called to say they were on their way. It ended up being over three weeks with no air conditioner. The service men were good with communication but the office people were not. I will not use them again in the future.

Outside AC unit stuck on and inside unit freezing up and a lot of snap, crackle, and pop. Called on a Monday to schedule appointment and had Carl at my door first thing Tuesday morning. He immediately diagnosed the problem and replaced the defective part (contact stuck in "on" position) and checked out the operation of the rest of the system. It's always a crapshoot when you hire a mechanic or repairman to fix something. So often they try to sell you a whole new unit or expensive service you don't need. It's refreshing to have an honest, friendly professional show up on-time and tell you exactly what's wrong and fix it without drama. Thanks Carl and Edd Helms!
