The founders of GW Pumps and Purification are in the 4th generation of being in the water business. Plumbing, Water Well Drilling, Water Pumps, and Water Treatment has been in our family for a long time. Growing up around the water business has taught me more than I ever learned in college. It taught me the true importance of customer service. Not from a text book, but from a livelihood which was dependent upon providing world class customer service. It also taught me the science side of water treatment. In science class, the ions and molecules didn't mean much. But in the water business, they become very interesting. Understanding how they react so they can be removed or exchanged became captivating. And even more intriguing is how the numerous factors in water can affect the performance of certain water treatment technologies. We also grew up understanding the importance of having a water system that worked properly. When a pump fails, water stops moving, and no one is happy. After calling GW Pumps and Purification, we strive to repair each system on our first trip so your water will be working soon. Although it is nice to earn a living in this business, it is truly rewarding when a client appreciates getting their system fixed. Many years ago, I remember being a small boy and my grandfather sharing with some values which I hold on to this day. Integrity, Honor, Leadership, and Caring for Other are just a few. These values have been interwoven in the fabric of who GW Pumps and Purification is today. We believe that if we do things right, the first time, our customers will appreciate us and use us time and time again. We also have found that they will refer our company to their friends, neighbors, co-workers and extended family. Although their are other companies that we consider rivals, we believe after doing business with our organization you will realize that the added value of dealing with our company is well worth it. Your water system is very important to your home and there you should have a competent, experienced, and professional expert work on your system. At GW Pumps and Purification, we are well qualified to handle your needs. We look forward to serving your needs. GW Pumps and Purification 321-779-2837 www.gwpumps.com

GW Pumps arrived at my home on time, the tech gave me a price to replace the pump. She had a pump in her van and was able to replace it on the spot. I'm very happy with the price and service and would recommend GW to my family and friends. I did obtain several other prices, they were much higher.

My pool pump was sounding pretty bad and they came out and took the pump back to their store to do the rebuild. I believe it was no more than two days and they had the rebuilt pump back in place and it is still running great today. While they were here, they also took a look at my sprinkler pump and the noise I kept hearing was only the pump vibrating against its cover. They not only made an adjustment, but cleaned up the case and painters it. It looked and still looks like new. Very professional.

Daniel checked the wiring and the pump and determined the motor was shot. He replaced the motor and added a hose connection so that it would drain away from the pump in the future which may have caused the motor failure. He was very nice to work with and arrived promptly. He also works with water pumps and I have well water. He took the time to explain my well water system and drained my water supply tank and cleaned it for free. I don't know about prices on pool pumps so I can't address this. I only know that he came as soon as he could and I appreciated that and will be using him for any well or pool pump needs in the future. I found him very honest and that is important to me. And I appreciated the fact that he educated me on how to care for my equipment and maintain it to prevent future problems.

We appologize for the issiues which were involved with this job. In discussions with both our staff and yourself about this problem, we understood there to be only a single well. This information was the basis for the decisions which was made regarding your system. In review of your account, we heavily discounted much of the work which was completed regarding your well pump work. Had we know that a second well exisited, our decision process would of been different. With the informatioon which was available to us, I believe we were fair and reasonable with how we handled this project. However, in hindsight and with the additional knowledge that a second well exisited on the property, we would of made different decisions and providided different solutions. We desire to keep you as a happy customer and in this endeavor I have added a credit memo in our computer system to credit you for $150 towards future service or parts. It is also my understanding that the water treatment system which you purchased from our company is working well and has reduced or eliminated the iron staining which you once were getting in your home. I am happy that this system is working well. We do care about this matter and once again I appoligize for not investigating further to determine if a second well existed on this property. We look forward to serving your needs in the future.

I would like to start this by saying I am not one that has ever written a negative review on anything. Upon the initial installation the pump was making a strange noise. I immediately called to have the technician come out to look at the pump as it was under warranty. The technician determined there was a fault with the pump and it needed to be replaced. They then installed a new pump which I was very grateful for. After less than a week this pump was making a noise as well. I attempted to call for several weeks and left multiple messages for someone to return my call. This was very frustrating as I didn?t want to ruin my pump by constantly running it and at this point my pool was starting to turn green. I was finally able to reach a manager and they sent someone out. The technician stated they need to redo the piping as the pump kept losing its prime. This was concerning to me as I did not have this issue before the installation but I agreed to have the service done (an additional $250) as I wanted the pump to work. After the service was complete again the noise started and the pump kept losing its prime. I again placed multiple phone calls to have the issue resolved and was ignored. Finally someone returned my call (over 4 weeks later) and stated they would come to see what was going on. They told me that my pump over heated because it apparently was losing its prime which is what I thought I paid to have fixed before. He was very condescending in speaking to me and kept trying to place the blame on me. He then told me he would give me a "discount" for replacing the piping after I explained the entire situation and he agreed that his technician should have noticed this before. Over 3 weeks has gone and I have still yet to receive any communication or written estimate. Needless to say I would not recommend doing business with this company as they do not back their product or follow up as needed.

I understand your frustration. However, I believe once you understand the whole matter, you will find that the fault is with the overall pool system and not with the motor we replaced. We never replaced your pool pump, we simply replaced the motor which operates the pump. In replacing the motor we had to remove the old motor from the pump housing and reattach the new motor. We did not have to disturb any of the piping or plumbing for the pool system. The damage which had existed in your system was from issues relating to things other than the motor we replaced. Although we do our best to help out our customer's we cannot cover under warranty items that were not part of our original work. Although I do not quite understand how you view our liability for items on an existing pool which we did not upgrade, repair, or replace, I am sorry for the delay in responding to you. We do try to promptly respond to our customers. So please accept both my apologies and my company's apologies for not responding to you in a timely manor. Sincerely Yours, Daniel

He is a self employed family man. He wasn't at the office when I contacted him, so he had me meet him at his home with my water samples. I followed his instructions (keeping the water samples on ice) and we got accurate readings the first time. He explained what he would be testing for and why. I was planning on getting pregnant and I wanted to make sure the water quality from my new home's well system was clean. He took that into consideration and tested for coliform. After his thorough report that he emailed me, I felt much more comfortable drinking the water. We discovered that the water is very hard, so we had a water softening tank put in from Culligan Water Products. Now our water smells good and is healthy to drink.

We ordered the work, having discussed getting the system during a maintenance visit for the water softener with the technician. The work was scheduled within three days, the tech showed up on time with all the right tools. He had to drill the granite counter and was able to do the work in a little over an hour. The tech had pre-soaked the system before he brought it to the house so we could use it right away instead of having to soak it ourselves for a couple of days. Couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Installed a reverse osmosis filter system that makes up to 50 gal per day. It works well and we really use it instead of buying bottled water. We use them for periodic maintenance on our water softener system, in which calcium builds up from the well water annually for the past five years.

Well pump overheated and blew out the pvc fittings mid-day Saturday. I called GW Pump about 2:30 and Dan was at my house within two hours and pump was replaced in a little over an hour. Well is water for the house (not irrigation) so immediate response was very important to me. Work was done quickly, all my questions were answered, and he cleaned up afterwards. He also bled the air out of my water treatment system and made a few adjustments for me. Since GW Pumps also works on and installs water treatment systems, I will definitely call GW Pumps for additional work down the road to maintain my system and possibly to install a second well for irrigation.

We were completely frustrated with our underground irrigation system. It seemed to have many problems. We called GW because we saw them doing some great work with our neighbors systems about a year or so earlier. They came and did a thorough check of our system and provided the estimate, which we believed was reasonable, due to the amount of time not spent on the 15 year-old system. During the assessment, they identified a break in the line, and that was their first place to go to work. So as soon as they performed the maintenance on the pump system to ensure it was fully fuctional and didn't need anything replaced, they went to work in the yard. Unfortunately, the broken part of the system was by our oak tree, which was the culprit not only for the break in the line, but was actually grown over the line system. It took them all day on Day 1 to saw out all of the root system and repair the pipes. This was only expected to be a 1 Day job, but this was a lot. We had some events, and asked them to come back a couple days later when it was convenient for us, and it was no problem with them to accommodate us. They came back and worked everything else identified and agreed upon, to include another sprinkler head I stupidly hit with the lawn mower over the weekend. This included re-routing the system around a new slab for our new air conditioner as well as putting in some new heads to accommodate our garden. They were great and will continue to use them to service our system.

Overall, installation went well, however, the end price was a BIG surprise. Original estimate was for under $600, but with the addition of 3 ball valves in a simple manifold, the final price was just under $1000. My lesson from this experience and my warning to anyone else who deals with GW Pumps is to have an itemized estimate in hand. Any variation should be in writing and fully understood. The original estimate did not include any of the extra prices and I was not aware of the exorbitant price increase until the work had been completed. WARNING: get your "COMPLETE" estimate in hand before you have GW pumps do any work for you. If I knew ahead of time how much he would have charged, I would not have let him do the work, or at least, I would not have let him do the additional (simple) PVC manifold which he charged me nearly $300 extra for. On his original estimate to completely hook up the pump, including electrical and 4 standard hose bibs, the only additional option included was: 2) Install T and 1-1/2" Ball valve on discharge of pump for future irrigation lines. ADD $59.00 +tax. Sta-Rite DS3HF, 1-1/2 hp Pro-Storm Series Irrigation Pump 1 *** *** Sta-Rite's 3 year extended pump warranty when installed by Sta-Rite Award Dealer. (no additional charge) *** *** 1-1/2" PVC Ball Valve for connecting to the PVC pipe leading from the well to the pump 1 *** *** Miscellaneous 1-1/2" PVC fitting 1 *** *** Boiler Drain/Hose Bib 4 *** *** Install Pump Total estimate price for above: $552.00 plus tax. But the end result was much higher and I was charged $196 to install (4) 1-1/4 ball valves. This was totally exorbitant and unexpected. I think the unexpected high price was very unprofessional and would not recommend GW Pumps.
Description of Work: Installed irrigation pump: including connection to electric, and existing 2 inch artesian well. Also, installed quick disconnect and 110v receptacle. Installed basic outlets from pump including 2 hose bibs, and two 1-1/4 lines. Installed manifold of 3 ball valves.

Response from GW Pumps and Purification
GW Pumps and Purification is built upon a foundation of four core promises: 1) Have integrity; to be honest and fair in all of our dealings. This applies not only to dealings with clients, but dealings with employees, suppliers, advertisers and the community in which we live and serve. 2) Offer affordable prices. After reading the post from this customer, this is the area in which he feels we did not meet. However, after the explanation which is listed below, I believe you will see we were affordable for the work being done. 3) On-time Service. We endeavor to make each appointment at the time slot given. We understand that your time is valuable, and we do value your time. 4) Quality Products. When I was a young boy, I still remember some advice from my father. He taught me that quality always will pay for itself in the end. Our goal of only selling quality products includes not only the main components, but also accessory items and installation parts. With the understanding of these principals, I would like to address the specific issues addressed by the Angie’s List Member who posted his comments. First, I believe it is critical to understand the work which we originally quoted was for the installation of a pump with the understanding that there were pre-existing electrical connections available. Although there was not a pump currently in place, there was a concrete pad ready for our pump installation. We were also under the impression that the well was located next to the concrete pad. One of the major cost increases from our original quote to the final bill was due to the electrical not being ready to be connected to the pump. Florida Building Code requires compliance to National Electrical Code (NFPA 70). In Sections; 430-101, 430-102(b), 430-107, and 430-109(c) of NFPA 70, it is required that a means for disconnecting power to a motor be provided within close proximity and direct line of sight to the pump. The means for disconnecting power was not pre-existing for installation of the pump. I informed the customer of this requirement and he agreed to have our company provide this additional work. This increased the scope of work to the job required, resulting in additional labor, materials, and a trip to the local supply house. I informed the customer that these costs would increase the overall job cost. Due to the size of this project and timing, we did not go through our “Change Order” procedure. We accept responsibility for not communicating the price increases in more detail before proceeding. I do believe it would have been better if we had clarified the amount. I am sorry we did not do this. Although we did not clarify the cost increase for this additional work, we were very fair in our pricing to this customer based upon the additional work. If he would have hired a separate electrician’s company to come out to install an outdoor disconnect, accessory receptacle, all the related wiring, conduit, parts and labor, the cost would have risen another $400-$500. The amount we charged for this work was substantially less. The other additional cost which the Angie’s List Member addressed was for the addition of several ball valves. The 1-1/2” ball valves were listed on our estimate as an option at $59.00. Because we installed 4 each 1-1/4” ball valves, we reduced the amount charged to $49.00 per ball valve. We do appreciate the business from this client and in his post; he says that we only provided 3 additional valves. If this is correct, we will refund the $49.00 which we charged for the 4th valve. A few key things to note: A) Despite spending at least two additional hours completing the electrical work, we only charged for one hour (Savings of $70-$140). B) We normally mark up the cost paid for additional materials to cover our overhead and for profit. However, in this case, we did a direct pass-through of the cost spent to buy the additional materials required for the additional electrical work (Savings of ~$20). C) The well was located approximately 8-10 feet from the concrete pad and about 2-3 feet below the level of the concrete pad. We did not charge any extra for the materials used to extend the suction piping this distance (Savings $25-$35). We do value this customer and we were very equitable with our prices. Despite the miscommunication of cost increases, I believe there is no disagreement about the quality of products and services which we provided. We stand behind our work and care about our clients. If we made an error in billing for 4 valves when only 3 were provided, we will correct this error. In closing, we wish to thank this gentleman for his business and express to him our apology for not having better communication regarding the cost increases once we both knew the additional parts, labor would be required. That said, we do believe we were fair with our pricing, performed the installation with excellence, provided quality products, and did the job right. (Since the original writing of this response, the customer has called and is experiencing troubles with his pump. Although sand intrusion is not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, we are extending the offer to send him replacement parts at no charge, if he so chooses.)
