We needed to repair the large sliding glass door in our master bedroom - it's the original - house was built in 1974. Upon searching through reviews on this site, I came across the company and placed a call. My husband and I both work, so we needed a first appointment of the day - so we made a booking for one week later. The agreement was for Mike to stop by and do the diagnosis, and schedule a subsequent appointment to do the repairs. The appointment window was 8:30-9:30 a.m. and Mike showed up at 9. The diagnosis was done in less than 10 minutes with a thorough description of what needed to be done and a cost associated - the $195 plus tax sounded a lot better than the $3,000 replacement cost! Fortunately, my husband was working from home that day, and Mike's schedule allowed him to stay and get the repair done there and then. His son joined him to do the work, and while I headed off to work, my husband said they did their work, were professional and courteous throughout and now we have a functioning sliding glass door again. We couldn't be happier with the entire experience - this one contractor has made the money we paid for a year's of Angie's List worth it!

Wonderful. They are very professional. They arrived promptly as scheduled. I used them at my home to remedy a very sticky sliding glass door. They were quick and cost-competitive. I called them a 2nd time after having had to evict renders from a rental home - they fixed the broken window pane as requested and were also willing and able to help with another repair of the window frame. I will definitely use them again if necessary.

He submitted a summary and work proposal. It seemed a little high, so I got a second opinion, which was considerably lower, so I went with the other repairman.

I felt they were very responsive to answer my calls and getting back to me. But I feel the workmen who actually provided the service could have been more knowledgeable. At this time, I feel I need a new front door lock, or they need to fix the problem that I currently have with the lock that I purchased (new) and they installed.
Description of Work: I had my front door replaced, including framing and new lock installed. The lock has never worked well and they came back a second time and advised there was nothing wrong with it. I need to contact them again because the lock is still not working right. The also corrected some problems (lock) with my patio screen door. This work was performed prior to my becoming an Angie's List customer.

Response from CARBONNEAU'S Impact Windows, Doors and Screening
This installation took place in April of 2010 ( 3 years ago ). This is the first that I am made aware of any issues with her door. The local Building department did their Inspection 3 years ago and found no issues with the installation and thus Signed the Permit Card saying the Installation was done properly and up to the current building Code The customer lives 2 minutes from my office, I would have been glad to check up on her door if I had known there were issues. I tried to contact her this week with no luck ( Both Phone Numers are disconnected) I will make it a point to stop by her house and check the locking of her door and repair any issues for her at no cost to the Customer ( Even after 3 years have passed )

I own a small 1200 sq ft 1959 built home in Pompano Beach and am currently renting it. The tenant complained of the awning type windows hard to operate and/or not closing tightly. Called Carbonneau's for quote. Received the quote in timely manner but seemed high at $1,250.00. I called another vendor, Florida Window Parts, Inc., for quote. Florida Window fixed all problems + repaired a sliding glass door with new rollers, total $424.00. Tenants are very happy with the result, all windows and sliding door are easy to open/close and are tight. Carbonneau's responded to me that what they proposed "was far different than what this other company actually did" which is true. However, what Carbonneau's proposed was apparently more work than what was required.
Description of Work: No services performed, received quote only.

Response from CARBONNEAU'S Impact Windows, Doors and Screening
The quote I had sent was based upon the information I received from the Tenant Kristin. She explained to me that the Awning Type Windows in the Living Room , Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom And Patio ALL needed new Operators and work done to the Harness ( Mechanical Part ) so the windows will close tight. Its hard to say what exactly the other company did for $ 424.00 But I GAURANTEE they were not going to Replace the Operators and work on the harnesses , Install new screens, Lubricate all moving parts on ALL windows which I do any time I work on Awning Type Windows as a service to my customers. I take a lot of pride in my workmanship ( I ACTUALLY DO THE WORK MY SELF ) and my knowledge I have gained in the 20 years of doing this type of work. I don’t take my job for granted and I work very hard in Exceeding my customers expectations when it comes to repairing of Doors and Windows. I have never in the 13 years owning Carbonneau’s have I ever overcharged any one . I think what I had proposed was far different than what this other Company actually did. The customer was Comparing Apples to Oranges which is not a Fair comparison

They were wonderful to work with. The installation went in with no problems or issues. They did their best to keep the dust and noise to a minimum and worked within the confines of the condo rules. They were quick, porfessional and very customer service oriented. I would reccoent them to anyone and I would hire them to do other work.

Overall, it went very well. I initially contacted Sammy's Door repair (see review). Carbonneau's Home repair was excellent from start to finish. Owner, Mike, came out and attempted to fix original door (30 years old) and recommended a replacement. Since he is a general contractor, i was able to utilize them for door install. They were competively priced and very responsive throughout the project. They also handled the permiting process with City.Installation was a one day operation. The installers were on time, polite and worked throughout the day to get the job down by 5P. I have recommended this company to others in my condo building and would use them again.

Based on what the tenant told me, the repairman showed up either at the very end of the 3-hour time range the company secretary had stated he'd be there or perhaps just past that time. I was originally given an estimate of $175 (another local company had quoted me $185) but shortly after the repairman arrived I was called by the company's secretary to say that the job is more complicated than originally thought due to an L-shaped bracket (which was exposed to outside elements and the screws would be difficult to remove as a result) that was holding the door in place and that now the job was going to cost an additional $100. The repairman sent me a couple of photos of it via a text message as I did not recall noticing the bracket. Feeling in a bind, I gave the go-ahead. The employee did a good job since the door is working fine now. However, about 4-6 weeks later, the same tenant called to tell me that now the other set of sliding glass doors was giving him the same problem (that one had an L-shaped bracket, too, which had also been exposed to outside elements and the screws looked like they might be somewhat difficult to remove on that one as well). When I called around for prices again, I was able to find another company based out of Miami that services Broward County as well and they ended up doing the same job in less time (based on the tenant's comments to me right after the workman left)... except that company only charged just under HALF the price of this one. To make matters worse, about two weeks after the second sliding glass door was fixed, the secretary at Carbonneau's left me a voicemail message to say she wanted to speak with me about the invoice and faxed it to me again stating it was still unpaid when, in fact, it had been paid within days of the work being completed (a call to my bank confirmed the check had been deposited weeks before I got the call about a supposed unpaid invoice). We got the issue resolved and Carbonneau's secretary did leave me a nice voicemail apologizing, saying that bookkeeping did not take it off the accounting in the system... but the bottom line is that I didn't appreciate being sent the invoice a second time when it was already paid and the fact that their error wasted my time in having to resolve the matter as a result.
Description of Work: A tenant's sliding glass door needed new rollers because it was not opening more than a few inches. I had checked it in person prior to scheduling an appointment with a repairman.

Response from CARBONNEAU'S Impact Windows, Doors and Screening
The owner of Carbonneaus ( Mike Shea ) was the technician on the job for this review. The customer is the owner of the condo that I was doing service in, She was not present during the repair; I was dealing with the tenant. The original time frame for the repair was 3 - 5 PM. I did show up exactly at 445 PM. When I observed the Sliding Glass Door Sysytem I noticed the building had settled over the door system causing the upper track to lay on top of the door. The door would not move more than 1 foot. I had to completely dissasemble the stationary and mover doors to be able to extract them from the compressed opening. I also had to bring the bottom rails back to my shop and cut them down on my table saw. n( This was the only way to make the mover door slide properly) By the time I was able to do the modifications and put everything back together it was almost 9 PM. I worked on this door system for over 4 hours just to make sure the Tenant would have a PERFECT WORKING DOOR. He was very pleased and surprised that I was able to get a door working so well when the complete building was sitting on top of the door. The Tenants now have full use of the door and can enjoy walking out to their patio with out squeezing through a 1 foot opening. The secretary had quoted the customer our typical Sliding Glass Door Repair price of $ 185.00. When I saw these major issues at hand from the get go I called the customer to explain what the issue were and the EXTRA time it was going to take me to repair the door the CORRECT WAY. I charge her an extra $100.00 for my 3 extra hours that it took me to get the door working PERFECTLY. In all fairness to the customer, She was not there when I was doing the work and is basing her report from pictures she had of the door system. I went beyond what most Technicians would have to make sure her Tenants were 100% happy with the end result. I am very dedicated to all of my customers and will do what ever it takes to have the job come out PERFECT. The report sent to Angies List was based upon pictures and not the actual job I performed, If the customer was present during the repair the Report would read a lot different. I continue to strive for the highest possible level of Customer Satisfaction in all of our work here at CARBONNEAUS HOME REPAIR Thank You, Michael P. Shea President Carbonneaus Home Repair

There was some miscommunication between the call taker and myself, and when I explained what had happened, the service man was very apologetic and promised to "do right" by me, which, I feel he went a long way to keep that promise. I will use this company again for any home repairs that I cannot do myself.
Description of Work: The wheels on my impact resistant sliders were shot and the door would not open or close easily which also affected the locking mechanism. I scheduled an appointment on line and responded in a timely fashion. After checking the door, it was determined it needed new rollers, I was given an estimate which after calling around, I knew to be a fair amount. The job ended up being bigger than diagnosised but he stayed until the job was complete, which included a trip back to the shop for another part. During the repair it was determined the original installer did not do that great of a job, the door was rubbing and the track had a dip in it, which lent to the rapid deterioration of the wheels. He used a grinder to shave the bottom of the door and installed an extra piece on the track to build up the "dip" which in turn would increase the life of the new wheels. This was above and beyond the work he estimated, but did not charge me any extra, other than for the piece for the track.

Had a sliding glass door which would barely move. They arrived right in the middle of the window of time they told me they would be there, after calling me ahead of time to make sure I was home. Arrived on site and promptly went to work, being very neat about everything that they did. Got the door so I could move it with a single finger, and cleaned up after they were done. Highly recommended.

I called Carbonneau's Home Repair to replace the cracked pane of impact glass that had been damaged during an attempted home break in. The impact glass windows kept our home secure. My husband is usually able to handle most of the repairs in our home, but we knew that impact glass requires special care. We had already purchased the replacement glass for the window, so I was looking for someone to install it. My call to Carbonneau's was answered by a very pleasant voice named Jill. She took my information, set an appointment and quoted the price for the labor. I asked about the 10% coupon that was offered for repairs and was told that my job did not qualify, but we were given 5% off our quoted price of $200.00. My appointment was changed due to the rainy weather, but Sean kept in touch with me to make sure my job was done on a day and time frame that was convenient for me. He arrived within our agreed time frame and went right to work. The broken pane of glass was removed from the outside with a minimal amount of mess and replaced within an hour. He came back inside to make sure that any debris from the removal was cleaned up. My husband and I are very pleased with the work and professionalism from this company and will definitely call them again.

We are very happy with the work that Carbonneau's did for us. Very professional and outstanding workmanship!
Description of Work: We contracted Carbonneau's to replace our non- impact french doors with hurricane impact french doors that we had previously purchased at a salvage sale. We had 2 sets of french doors. The doors were not an exact fit, but they made them fit perfectly. Mike Shea was professional and polite when we called for an estimate. He was punctual when he came to our home to take themeasurements he needed to do the job. He gave us a 10% discount for being members of Angie's List. When he was taking measurements for the doors, we asked him if he could replace our sliding kitchen window with a new hurricaneimpact glass window. He said he could and took measurements for that also. He ordered a new horizontal slider hurricane impactwindow with clear 7/16 impact glass with screen. We are very happy with the work that Carbonneau's did for us. Mr. Shea's son was in charge of all the installations and did an excellent job. Everything was cleaned up before they left the jobsite, so all that was left for us to do was enjoy our new doors and window!

We highly recommend Carbonneau's. We have had some terrible experiences with people in the past and as a result we almost always just expect to be disappointed. This was not the case at all with Carbonneaus. They could not have been been more professional or accommodating. Although there were very few issues at all, the few things we noticed that needed their attention were taken care of with a smile, promptly and perfectly. I wish all our experiences had been as positive as our experience with Carbonneaus. They did a great job for us. We are very pleased.

Let me state first that they did replace the pane of glass, for the price estimated, and honored the Angie's List coupon. However, we were disappointed to find out later that the repairman used clear glass and did not notice (or tell us if he did notice) that the rest of the window was smoky glass. He knew that we were going to get the entire window re-tinted (he even recommended a tinting company to us), so he could have peeled back some tint on another pane to check or looked at the glass he had already removed. Someone who does this for a living should have noticed the difference or thought to check. For that reason, we probably wouldn't use this company again.

We got an estimate for impact windows on the whole house. The man who came out was prompt and professional. He gave us an email quote promptly, and also promptly provided several other quotes as we asked about different thickness glass, etc. This is the only service that was performed, and it rates an A. So, we agreed on a contract, and the man (Mike, I think) said that his son (Sean, I think) would be calling about meeting to have us sign the contract and provide the deposit. Days went by, and no one called. After several days, a man named Dan called on a Friday, and arranged to meet us at 5:30 on the following Monday. We rushed home from work to find a message from Dan to the effect that he was backed up and could not come. He asked me to leave a message stating when we would be available. I did this, and again days (2) went by without a phone call. This service rates an F; hence, the C for a final grade. (BTW, Dan called within 10 minutes of my call canceling with Carbonneau's.) I should add that Carbonneau's pricing is good. We are going with a company that is actually pricier, but which inspires confidence about finishing in a timely way. Carbonneau's may well be fine for persons who are not on a tight schedule; but for various reasons we needed to get things arranged without much delay.

Response from CARBONNEAU'S Impact Windows, Doors and Screening
I had met the member and put together a quote for him. He asked me for a variety of different options with quotes for each option. I responded to him in less than 24 hours each time. He finally had the best option for his home and told me that the proposal was acceptable to him and would like to proceed with the work. We had a major break down in communication here at Carbonneaus, thus leading the member to cancel the order and go with someone else. I have since made some changes so the breakdown will NOT happen again. We both worked very well together in coming up with the best solution for him and his home. I completely understand his position and will use this incident to achieve the level of communication needed to be an A rated company. Michael P. Shea Carbonneaus Home Repair
