I called their office 10/16 to set up an appointment for an estimate on my driveway resurfacing job. I was told Kyle would call me back to set up an appointment. I got a call back from Kyle on 10/19 around lunch time. He asked if I would be home later that evening and we set up an appointment between 5:30-6. Never called or showed up. Really?

*slightly edited version of the email I sent to the company. Edited for proper pronouns and call to action omitted.* Last week I was excited to have a Monday morning appointment to estimate a job I'm considering. I'd like to add to what is existing, and match up the finishes on the back patio. Creating a nice, inviting back yard space. My appointment was at 10am, I moved my work schedule around to accommodate this appointment. The appointment was cancelled 7 minutes prior to our appointment with "truck trouble". Understandable, yet incredibly short notice. I have a busy schedule that isn't always consistent, so rescheduling is tricky. Concrete Designs FL called a couple days later to follow up with the appointment, and in conversation it sounded like they didn't know it didn't happen. The owner called to apologize, and to reschedule. Being I have a full schedule, he offered to come out on Saturday. This surprised me but his "guys don't work Saturdays, but the owner does". Saturday came and went and no one called or showed up. At this point, I am have no interest in working with Concrete Designs FL for my patio addition. After two missed appointments to estimate the work, in my mind leaves me with no confidence that the work will be done on time or at all. I will continue to search for another contractor to do this work who will show up and show up on time.

Based on my research on Angie's List, on Tuesday, 04/14/2015 I contacted Concrete Designs FL. The woman who answered told me she would contact the salesman who would call me back to arrange for a visit to give an estimate of the work to be done. On Thursday 04/16, Gabriel called to say he would be here on Monday, 04/20 at about 11:30. On Monday 04/20 Gabriel arrived at 11:00 and we went over the process and the options available. He said they would have to remove the old cement coating and the Chatahoochie coating below that, as it should have been removed previously before the cement coating had been applied. Then once the concrete slab had been prepared by pressure washing and then sealing, the new cement surface would be applied, then the stone design we choose would be scribed into the surface, and finally the color and shadings would be applied. Gabriel took the measurements, gave me the estimate and left around 12:00. I had an appointment with another company, which we didn't use, and I called Gabriel back on Wednesday 04/29 with some questions about the job and to ask about the schedule of the job.He came around 3:20 that day, rewrote the estimate to my satisfaction, and I gave him a deposit. On Wednesday 05/13, I got a call from Jesus that the crew would be here tomorrow, Thursday 05/14 around 9:30 to start the job. Miguel, his father Miguel, Sr., and Alejandro arrived and began power-chiseling the old surfaces from around the pool, a very tough job, with constant noise and dust. Two air chisels pounding away almost non-stop, and the 3rd man shoveling up the debris and hauling it in buckets to be hauled away in heavy plastic bags. Hot, hard, heavy noisy work, mostly bent over to do the job. They finished up for the day around 5:30, after cleaning up the cords, hoses, tools, etc., which were left in a neat pile on the patio. A comment about the men... they are VERY nice, friendly, competent, hard-working men, with a VERY strong work ethic, and a serious attention to detail that made me proud to have them working here. The company owner obviously demands this of them, and they performed amazingly well throughout the entire process, regardless of the high heat, noise, dust, etc. The job went on each day except Sunday, of course, and on Wednesday 05/20, Miguel came alone to finish the painting process in a few small areas, and to start draining the pool for the acid cleaning. On Thursday, 05/21/2015, Miguel came to acid wash the pool and do a final cleanup of the job. He left at around 12:45, after getting the balance owed. I continued filling the pool (by garden hose, and FYI, Boca Raton doesn't give a discount for pool filling, but I was given a guesstimate that it would cost between $30 and $50). It took until about 11:30 the next morning to fill the pool, shutting the 2 hoses off overnight, as the noise of the water running was loud. I then started adding the chemicals as prescribed by the pool store. I had Miguel change the old original bottom drain cover with a new one that prevents getting stuck to it or pulling long hair into it. The front courtyard, side garage entry and the pool patio look AMAZING!! ...beyond our expectations!! ...and the pool looks like new, too! I will add some pix as soon as I figure out how to do that. I took them throughout the job. Watching the painting process is truly an amazing experience.

The company rep came out and gave us an estimate. My husband and I thought about it for a few days and decided to go ahead with the project. The rep came back out and we signed the contract. CD only requires 10 percent down to start, another 50 percent at the halfway mark and the balance when completed. They showed up when they said they would and we're always friendly and answered any questions we had. They even worked on a Saturday so I didn't have to take off from work to pick the paint color. We are so pleased with Concrete Designed that we are having them do additional work.
Description of Work: The company put stamped concrete over existing cool deck--we also extended the patio so they added new concrete and also covered that. They acid washed our pool and repaired loose tiles and recaulted all the tile. The pool and patio look great! The whole experience with Concrete Designs was very professional.

Update: I am happy to say that the owner's son, Ameliano, is a true pleasure to work with and should be the face of the company. Eddie, the crew manager, is an even greater joy. They agreed to come out and replace the damaged stone, remove all orange paint the owner applied to try and mask the original damaged stone, re-grout affected areas and also make the arms surrounding the spa blend in with the rest of the pool. We are truly happy and are more than pleased with the results. It is now a completed project and one we are proud to show off to family and friends. Thank you, Ameliano and Eddie! I t is with much regret that I am updating my previous review. While the workmanship of the crew was worthy of a high grade, the owner and his follow-up (or lack thereof) have sadly caused us to change our view of the company as a whole. In short, never pay this company until you are completely satisfied or you will never see them again. We requested a repair once our project was finished. The spa stone installed by the owner was not cut to size (short on right side) and was chipped in the very center making it unsightly. In addition, the concrete surrounding the spa itself needed smoothing out and slight re-shading in 1 or 2 areas. The owner came out to repair the spa stone when we were not home, despite our requests to notify us before he arrived so that we could be present. When we saw his "fix," we called him immediately. The stone was not replaced - he simply used some sort of neon orange agent to try and cover what was wrong. That was it. Nothing else was done, and the stone was now worse than ever. The response I received once I contacted the owner about the terrible repair was beyond unprofessional. He became belligerent and condescending with me on the phone to the point where he actually hung up on me. At that point, my husband took control of all communication, and the result has not been much better. The owner said he was going out of town for two weeks and would correct all upon his return. It is now weeks later, and we are still waiting. He has never contacted us to schedule a time. Like I said, once you pay this company, you will never see or hear from them again. While the workmanship of his crew is good, the unprofessionalism of the owner and lack of follow-up and lack of professionalism would cause me to strongly recommend that you never hire them. It's been over a month, and we are still patiently waiting. Everything went according to plan and promise! The crew that was at our home for 3+ days was extremely professional, polite and top notch in their design ability. The owner, Ken, took the time to answer all of our questions, and his son continued with the professionalism whenever I called into the office. Ken was kind enough to point out that resurfacing our pool was unnecessary and that a simple acid wash would bring it back to life once they were finished with our patio. He was 100% correct. Our pool sparkles now and is a crisp, clear blue. Ken also suggested and built in a stone spa ledge giving us the effect of a small waterfall without the expense of remodeling our pool. He saved us a great deal of money. Our patio is gorgeous. One of the things that I admired the most is that the crew did not leave until the color was to our satisfaction, and I cannot tell you how happy this made us. With just a slight adjustment at the very end to the overall color, it was perfect. It actually looks like travertine tile, and our patio now looks brand new and up-to-date. We would highly recommend this company to anyone considering concrete overlay or stamping. It is better than putting tile down and much cheaper!

Very professional company. We were actually referred by a co-worker which just had similiar work done to their pool and patio. I would definitely recommend this company as they did a great job!!!! It took approximately a week to complete, however, would have finished sooner if it would not have rained just about every day.

Work completed in 2 days. they used concrete sanders and pressure washer to remove old materail and prep area. Next trip they applied materiel. Stone look was hand craved with a simple tool, but they made it look great. color match very well to adjoining pool pavers.
Description of Work: The area has been surface painted in the past that required resurfacing every few years due to paint peeling and dulling. We propose to complete resurfacing with a concrete-like material that will permanently embed a design and color to this area and complement the pool pavers.

they promised a lot when the sales came, but did not deliver what they promised. Patio is chipping, draining is not what it was supposed to be. Gets dirty very easy. Drained the pool and took a long time to drain and fill. Could not put down the pattern we wanted since they stated the old patio was in worse shape than they thought. Took a lot longer. Quality was not what I expented and would have done a different procedure if I knew the shortfalls. Also, had to do a lot of cleanup ourselves After reading this review, they called back and made an appointment to fix this. They did come back and repainted the whole pool deck area and it does look nice now. The deck drainage issue is still a problem and they said they cannot change how the drainage works. Also, the coating is not impervious to pool chemicals and will stain, and patio furniture may scape off the paint.

The salesman Neill came out in November to give us an estimate and we debated about the project because the cost was quite a bit, but it was in the ballpark of the other two vendors we also received estimates. The salesman sold us on just doing the acid wash of the pool and that should be enough, which was $800 instead of the $3000 it would be to Diamond Brite it, which was far less than any of the other vendors. To replace the chattahoochie would be quite expensive and this company pours "military grade" concrete on top of the chatt. To cover the cracks, there are lines placed in cement to make it appear artistic and it is. The website shows various examples of the designs they can do and Neill also showed us photos and images on his computer of what they can do. In January, I called Neill and said we are going to do it. He said to mail 10% of the contract to the office. If you want to use a credit card to pay for the job, there is a 3% service fee, which I wasn't too keen about. For such a large job, I would have liked to get the points for the credit card. I asked when can I expect service? He said it depends on the weather, every day it rains, the crew can't work. I called them in February asking for a date and still no answer. On Friday afternoon, Feb., 7, I got a call telling me they were coming out today. I thought short notice and told them that day doesn't work for me. I asked for the following week. Tues, Feb 11 they started. They worked all week. I would stop in at lunch and after work to see the progress. I was told I didn't need to be there while they worked. Once the art of the design was laid out, we chose the colors that we wanted and they painted it perfectly. The new deck was really coming along nicely. The pool was next and they drained the pool and started work on it. They did the acid wash, which really didn't do anything and I would recommend not doing that. It was a complete waste of money. I felt like I got ripped off. I told them to go ahead and Diamond Brite it for $2200, but I wasn't told which color they were doing until after it was done (it actually turned out fine - they picked just the basic blue one). Since this was my first time doing this sort of work, I really didn't know the answers to some of their questions, such as which way the nozzle from the water should shoot out in the pool? Well, you would want it facing down and not up toward the surface (FYI). The men that installed it said that I could adjust it later if need be, but that is not true. Once it is directed, it isn't moving any where. They finished the job in one week's time and the pool and the patio look amazing! In conclusion, the salesman is very nice, but he does not do the work, so, be aware that communication is not efficient. It would have been nice to have an assigned person that really would walk/talk me through the process of each day of what to expect. Once the job was complete, there was no follow-up to make sure I was satisfied. We spent a lot of money on this and I would have liked a bit more communication. My biggest advice would be to ask a lot of questions and be there when they are there so you can see what they are doing. Things are just not the same when they leave, so, walk around and make sure everything is the way you left it. It is a construction area, so, things will get messy. Maybe it was only in my mind, but I thought by adding this military grade cement on top of the patio, weeds would not appear, but apparently super weeds are below by patio and they will still push their way up. Granted, I don't have as many weeds coming up as before, but I guess there is no getting rid of them. After they finished the job, we were told we need to scrub the Diamond Brite to really make it shine every day for two weeks. Instructions about refilling the pool and scrubbing were not really forthcoming. Again, the communication is not very good. I did call them two months later since there were some chlorine stains that were along the edge of the pool and they came back and repainted the entire border. I had to e-mail them pictures, but the follow-up on that was actually pretty good. They also lowered the water to try and change the nozzle of the pool, but that nozzle is not moving. I am not sure of a solution, so, learn from my /their mistake and make sure that nozzle is facing down. Overall, the work is amazing with a couple of bumps in the road.
Description of Work: We wanted to get rid of the chattahoochie on the patio surrounding the pool and the front walkway. We also wanted the pool to be re-done, get rid of the brick that wrapped around the pool and the tiles at the edge. Concrete Design did it all.

Miguel and Jesus always arrived on time and were very professional. they were meticulous in all their work. Both the initial preparation and coloring were done with great care to make sure ;the customer would be pleased. Everything that Emilano, the owner, had written in the proposal was completed as stated. this company has quality work and is worth the cost. Not having to tear up an existing patio, and having the overlay done was great. Work was well worth the cost.

After we agreed on the price and I put down a deposit they estimated that it would be 3 weeks before they could start the job. They were able to start after only 1 week and my only complaint was that they gave me no advance notice, calling at 8:00 am the morning that they wanted to start. Luckily I was in town and had no prior commitments. They showed up on time and I was satisfied that they did a thorough job of prepping the surface. They also did a good job of minimizing the amount of debris that got into the yard. The first day they completed troweling on the concrete and scoring in the grout lines. The 2nd day they completed painting the base coat and painting the individual "tiles" to create the desired look. The crew are talented artists and I couldn't be happier with the finished product. I am confident that the sealed concrete surface will be much less prone to mildewing than the previous cool deck surface and is not at all slippery when wet. It may be a little pricey on a per square foot basis but I am sure that it will require less cleaning and maintenance than other alternative surfaces that I could have chosen.

Both driveway and patio deck were resurfaced in a matching design and colors. Driveway was previously painted and patio had a cool deck finish. Patio cool deck had to be ground down and the driveway just roughed up for the finish to adhere. Finish is a thin layer of 9000 psi concrete skim coat with a random stone look and wavy grout lines. Grout lines were placed to hide cracks in the concrete. I was able to choose three stone colors and the grout color. Stone colors are feathered in and out to further the color contrasts. I am very happy with the finished product. I hope it holds up, so far it seems like it will. This is a three day process. Day 1 is grinding and prep. Day 2 is applying the material. Day 3 is coloring the material. They leave you with a small quantity of paint/stain for touch-ups. Product will not fill badly depressed areas since it is put on very thin. Also product does get stained by plant material (driveway). It will clean up with bleach though. Overall I am very happy with how it turned out.

We signed an agreement, they came out and did the work per the contract. However, in the process there were several household items that were damaged. A hot tub cover lift was damaged, some patio screens had holes and others were splattered with concrete. After finishing up the front concrete and staining it, I had to have them return and re-stain the walkway per the original agreement. They did come back and attempt to re-do it, but never to my satisfaction. However, I was mentally drained by our differences and decided to let that go. I had to hire someone else to finish my front walkway. I will need to have several hundred dollars in repairs due to the damage they caused. They got concrete everywhere, it was all over my patio screens, hardware, porch and support system, and pool tile. They did come back and clean the pool tile that they got concrete on, but they would not clean or repair the screens that were damaged. They also would not come back and clean, repair or reimburse me for the damaged hot tub lift either. He said they would not fix it because they only do "whatever is in the contract." There was a lot of miscommunication, I don?t feel like he lived up to our agreement properly. The owner was extremely rude and unprofessional, he was very condescending and caused me a great deal of distress.

Gave us a date to start and came. It is a multi-part process, completed over a series of visits. Very good craftsmen. Have received many compliments on the improved appearance of our front walk and patio.

I called and received a quote the following day. I had to wait longer for the job to start due to a lot of unusual rain during the "dry season", but once underway the job was completed quickly. Their process is very neat and the workers were very professional and accommodating. They checked the color scheme with me several times as they applied the color to make sure I was happy with the design and intensity of the colors I had selected. Kenny, the owner, is great to work with and I would not hesitate to hire again. The results are stunning and it was well worth waiting for.
Description of Work: repaired cracks, used grinders to remove prior surface, pressure cleaned, apply thincoat and resurfaced.driveway/walkway and patio.
