We were very pleased with the entire process. The sales staff was courteous, the showroom had plenty of options for cabinets and hardware, the installation was seamless and the results were great. It has been 4+ years and the refaced cabinets still look fantastic.

S&W are not nice people to work with. They are extremely expensive and their is no transparency in their billing. Their bill shows $98 for grout, $72 for a shower head, then a total of $4815. What is the $4645 for? It looks we are going to lose our $2781 down payment, but on the bright side, we will have saved thousands by not contracting S&W for the water damage work. Sometimes lessons learned can be expensive. We recommend you do not give these people your hard earned money without a very detailed contract and maybe legal help. If you can afford S&W you can probably afford a lawyer too.
Description of Work: S&W was contracted to replace shower glass enclosure, re-grout shower floor, and replace exhaust fan for $4815.23. We didn't realize how ridiculously over priced this was. However, before grouting started, water damage was discovered, so we called in our insurance agent, who estimated repair would cost approximately $11,000. S&W gave us a verbal estimate of over $21,000. Our agent gently suggested getting another estimate. We are having the work finished by another contractor inside the $11,000 range, but S&W refuses to return our original $2781 and then bill us for the little amount of work which they did. All S&W did was remove two glass panels on the shower enclosure and replace a very noisy bathroom exhaust fan with another noisy fan. They refuse to negotiate a fair price for work done, and they continue to bill us for the $4815!

We heard of S&W Kitchens on WDBO. We then picked up the S& W Kitchen designer's business cards at the home in Garden show in Orlando. When I spoke to her on the phone she was nice and professional. The day of the appointment she called to see if she could come several hours later than scheduled. We could not do this as we had another scheduled appointment. She showed up 30 minutes late anyway. The contractor showed up on time ,but sat out front in his car for 10 minutes. No one really seemed to care what we wanted. They seemed more interested in up selling us. We only wanted to reface the cabinets and replace the counter tops with granite. The designer kept trying to get us to get all new cabinets and said it was easier and the same price as refacing. Then when she gave us the estimate she said it would be a few thousand more then refacing. The designer did not give us any suggestions whatsoever. In order for this to happen we were told we would have to give them a $1,000.00 retainer fee. The worst part was when the contractor told us we would be charged $650.00 for damage to the house! We questioned this and were told that "when you carry a large slab of granite you are going to hit a few wall". We were given a quote of $17,000.00-$28,000.00. A huge difference! Also, a very high quote. We ended up going with another company that was much more helpful and reasonable. We ended up paying thousands of dollars less. This included having a desk and new cabinets built on a separate wall and a new sink Plus the refacing and granite counter tops. For anyone thinking about using this company don't waste your time.

Their price was the same with the other companies that came out. Regardless of the configuration, they all had the same dollar amount. It was amazing. They have been in business for a long time now. They were very polite, on time and very professional.

They did a gorgeous job. Glenn was our designer and he did a really creative design with unique materials. He also listened to what we were looking for and took into consideration of the rest of the house so everything went together. He was very responsive to our questions and concerns. The workers were wonderful as well. The job took around 1.5-2 months, which lined up with the time estimate they gave. We found some materials online at a better price, and Glenn was able to work with us to get these items for the job. Glenn was very easy to get a hold of throughout the whole project. Glenn did a truly custom and unique design compared to the other estimates we received. He really thinks outside the box. That is what sold us on using S & W.
Description of Work: We had them completely remodel our master bathroom. They took out some walls, put in a new tub, redid the shower, put in a new toilet, cabinets, new lighting, basically everything a bathroom has.

It is not often that you find people who you want to adopt as family. It is even more rare when it is with people you contract for remodeling in your home. That is the experience we had with S & W. Our project manager Glenn Rumer was on top of everything and took excellent care of us durring the entire process. I don't think I had too many changes to the initial plan (mostly item changes rather than construction changes) but even if I did, Glenn was always enthusiastic and helpful in finding the right products to fit our budget and my slow-to-solidify vision. The primary craftspeople Todd and Heather (otherwise known now as "our children" - yes, we've adopted them) are absolutely phenomenal: detail oriented and highly skilled. Such hard workers!! I finally had to tell Todd that the ceiling patch was as good as it was going to get - he was going to go after a 4th effort on it to fix a barely noticeable line between old and new. No one will ever see the ceiling - the kitchen itself is so beautiful. Todd and Heather made everything just lovely and kept the house clean with their meticulous and careful work processes. We would have them do any kind of work for us and know that it will be done righ and beautifully. Glenn also made sure that the project started on time (1/22) and that it was functional again by 2/20 in time for a visit by out of town guests. The total project lasted longer than originally anticipated due to my need to see cabinets installed before choosing granite, and granite installed before choosing back-splash tile (which was backordered for months). It was all worth it in the end, though I think Glenn thought he'd never be done with us. ;) If you want great work, and a great team to make your project a success, hire these people. Heck, you may want to adopt them too!

Their estimate was incredibly high. We ended up doing 90% of the work ourselves and for them, they were going to take the pantry out themselves. And then we ended up buying the cabinets online and then assembling them ourselves, and they were going to do top of the line, incredible cabinets. The tile was going to be one with about 15 different patterns, just incredibly expensive. They had top of the line materials and everything. We just paid the $600 for the design and then we just basically took that idea and used it ourselves. They were great. Actually some things they were really good at, but then there were other things like they were going to put our refrigerator right next to the wall and I thought how are we going to open up the refrigerator door. So with stuff like that you would have thought that she would have known. They were very punctual. Their hours were kind of weird, but it worked out. I probably would not hire them in the future just because I feel like they ripped us off.

All of the employees and trades were excellent to deal with. We had no issues with placing a lock box on the door so they could access the home when we were not present. The design by Brooke is great. Her recommendations on tile, cabinets and fixtures were excellent. We had access to the bathroom and dressing area in about 6 weeks. The work was not final for 6 months. The delay was due to laying tile on the shower floor prior to an inspection and tiling the tub enclosure without allowing access to the plumbing. Brooke worked with us on the redesign of the tub and due to her error did not charge us for the re-tiling. S&W worked with the inspectors and finally received approval on the shower floor after having an engineer sign off on the work.

Response from S & W Kitchens Inc
S&W Kitchens apologizes and accepts responsibility for any delays regardless of fault. First a bit of detail regarding timeline. Contract signed in October 2012. Custom product ordered immed. but not delivered till late December. Pre-construction meeting with client was on January 2, 2013. At that time permit was applied for. Unfortunately it took 5 weeks for county to process the permit. This is unusual that it would take this long. Work did not commence until beginning of February 2013. Project was substantially complete in late April 2013 and a punchlist was developed on May 7, 2013. This is a bit longer than normal. There were some delays as we tried to perfect the install for the client but most of the delays were our responsibility. The initial tile installation did not meet up to our standards and much of it was reworked. .Unfortunately the glass mosaic tiles that were used had a long lead time and the special grout that we used requires 7 days to cure. All of this caused further delays. One of the major delays related to rework of the frameless glass shower enclosure. This was an unusual configuration and very customized. Much of this rework occurred after the substantial completion and we take full responsibility for this. The end product is absolutely beautiful which the client agrees with. We are proud of the end product but certainly not proud of how long it took to complete the punchlist. We agree with the clients rating of ‘F’ on on punctuality.. We reject the clients ratings of ‘F’ on everything else. The company owners did sit down with client after completion and reached an agreement on their request for credit for the amount of time taken to complete the job. It was at this meeting that the client told us how happy they were with the quality of the workmanship and products.

It went okay. We had already started the design process with Google Sketch Up before we contacted S & W. Bill answered many of our questions and was tolerent of our quirky slooow schedule. Joe and Bill came out to the house and confirmed our measurments. The estimate was what got us. If they did everything it could have been $50000. Too much for a bathroom. Bill told us they could do as much or as little as we wanted. Cool. It was around the holidays and we were trading emails. I had many questions and not all of my emails got responses. I was very detailed in asking questions and was disappointed when they never got answered. Because of this I started looking at other contractors. Visited the showroom and found out the type of tile i wanted was not available and cabinets I had seen elsewhere were more expensive through S&W. (Same type). IMHO shower fixture selection left much to be desired. Our last meeting I realized my questions that had been previously sent through email were just being considered right then. Guess i wanted a bit more attention for the $750 I'd spent. i came to the realization that we were very willing to do much of the product selection legwork and could save a bunch of money this way. So, that is what we did.

Still waiting for a new design.
Description of Work: I called S & W for an estimate. They came and created a design. The estimated cost was very high so I wanted to meet with them again and arranged a meeting. Unforunately the designer became ill and had to cancel and said he would contact me. However a week passed and I did not hear from him. I emailed him and he replied that he had been too busy and asked another designer to finish for him. When I met with the new guy I mentioned that I had been on Angies list and there was a coupon listed there. He said they had no specials on Angies list. He said someone else may have posted it. What's the story? Betty Kinner

No work performed, because they never gave me an estimate.
Description of Work: Actually no work was performed. A gentleman came out and looked at the shower remodel that I wanted done and said he would be getting back to me in a day or two with an estimate and I never heard from him again. I went to their showroom as he suggested, to get an idea of what I wanted done, and I got a relatively cold reception there. It was like the job I wanted done was beneath them.

Excellent!!! Couldn't have gone better. Glenn explained expectations to us in the beginning and delivered accordingly.
Description of Work: We called S&W "blind" and spoke with Glenn. He was so helpful and friendly and offered to come out to the house to help us make decisions. We had just purchased our house and needed to update it in a lot of way. Glenn is probably the best we've ever dealt with. He gives you his cell phone and always answers or calls you back promptly. His subcontractors are exemplary and performed all functions in a timely and satisfactory manner. Glenn is also a great decorator and had great ideas to help us make decisions. He actually took us shopping with him to select tile, marble, etc. There were no hidden costs, everything was explained in detail and billed as expected. We had our kitchen totally remodeled, removing a wall and expanding the size of the kitchen and also raised the ceiling. We had our master bathroom totally remodeled as well, replacing all plumbing, installing a new walk in shower and two sink vanities. We also had all of our popcorn ceiling scrapped and painted along with moving a wall in our master bedroom to increase our space in that room. We had new tile put down replacing all tile in the kitchen, laundry room, master bathroom and family room. We also had a stone fireplace hearth and mantle removed and modernized. All of the old dark paneling in the family room was removed and the walls restored and painted.

this was not a good experience. We had gone to the showroom (asctually the one in Winter Park) and had asked for estimates for our bathrooms and kitchen for remodeling. We scheduled and appoinment for someone to come measure and do the estimate and the sales lady did a NO SHOW. When I called the office after waiting 45 minutes , they said she was "on her way", but she arrived over an hour later. She did the measurements, claimed she would get back to me with estimates, and then I didnt hear back from here for weeks. All of the other contractors gave me estimates and ideas promptly. She acted like we were unimportant. She was condescending and acted as if we probably weren't even going to use her estimate. BOY, she was RIGHT!!!! I dont need to enter into a construction contract with a company whose front line representative is that bad... enough said.

I had 3 quotes on the job. Unfortunately, S&W's quote was too high for this job. I'm sure they provide great design and superb quality, but since their quote was $10,000 compared to $3500-$5000 on the other 2 quotes, I can't justify the expense for this secondary shower. If you need a designer and have a bigger project, then you may want to call them for a quote.
Description of Work: I needed a 42" square shower in a secondary bathroom redone. I asked them to take out the existing tile and drywall and put up cement board, a new shower pan, new glass door and a few other small revisions.

There were many serious issues with the job overall and delays and extra costs on my part. The double vanity which was priced at more than $2,000 was ordered incorrectly as five separate pieces, none of which were made for sink basins. This caused quite a problem with the placement of the sinks. I asked and was quoted for a White Carrera marble vanity top. When I told Lauren, the designer and project manager, that I wanted to select the marble myself she said I had to go to their fabricator , Parthenon, since that is who they worked with. I made and appointment and drove to New Port Richey on a Saturday but the person I was to meet was not there in the office. I spoke to one of the owners but he told me there were no White Carrera Marble for me to look at and that it would be ordered special for my job. I told Lauen I wanted to check other granite yards. She told me I could go to Mount Crest but I would be shown the "slabs" I could choose from. None of the slabs were White Carrera. I did choose one . I made a special trip back to Partheon to dicuss the placements of the sinks since I wanted them centered on the mirrors that would be hung over the vanity . We discussed the sink placement at 11 inches from the wall. Also, when I asked about the sinks, I learned that I had to choose the sinks from Partheon which just had 15 inch or 17 inch round white sinks. When I told Lauren I did not like the sinks, she said I could buy my own (an extra cost) if I chose. When the counter top was delivered and installed the sinks were placed incorrectly right up against the wall and the marble looked yellow against my white vanity. I told Lauen the sink placement was unacceptable and the marble was a really bad match to the vanity. She told me I could choose another counter top , at my own cost. I did that, but I cost me an extra $500, plus $200 for new sinks. The job was delayed 3 weeks. Also, the vanity was supposed to be bumped out in the middle but was installed flat against the wall. The drawings the installers had did not show the bumped out section. That had to be done after the installation. The vanity also had to be cut out on the inside to allow for the sink installation and two drawers were lost. The construction workers - plumber, electrician and tile guys were great and realized the mistakes in the design. I would not reccommend using this company and I will not use them for any future work.
Description of Work: Remodel of a Master Bath. Demolition of original bath. New Tile Floor, new tile on shower walls and floor. Installation of new lighting and outlets. Fabrication and installation of double sink vanity and mirrors. Installation of new toilet. Installation of new sinks. Installation of shower hardware and faucets. Fabrication and mounting of tower cabinet and cabinet over toilet. New trim installation. Removal of wallpaper. Painting of room and ceiling.

Working with Larissa was a great experience. She was very patient with our many questions and struggles. She didn't rush us and took the time to answer our questions and help guide us as we tried to make decisions. Work began promptly with the tear out. The first week went along very well until the County showed up and said we needed permits. All work had to come to a halt until the proper permits were pulled. Adam worked very hard to get everything done so work could resume without too much delay. We lost about a week. As soon as the permit situation was resolved it was all hands on deck to get the job done. Eric, the carpenter was absolutely wonderful. He worked so hard and did beautiful work. Even the granite people commented on how level all the cabinets were, which made it easier for them. The kitchen and master bath was done at the same time and then the second bathroom was done a couple of weeks later. Everything turned out better than we could have imagined. We are so glad we chose S & W for our remodeling.
Description of Work: They tore out our kneewall to increase the size of our kitchen and rebuilt it further out. Moved the plumbing, removed the drop ceiling and added recessed lights. They also tore out our pantry walls and we now have a new pantry that matches our new cabinets. Removed the old tile and replaced with new. We have beautiful new cabinets, granite countertops and new tile flooring. Also updated our two bathrooms with new vanities, granite countertops and new tile flooring.

We are about two weeks away from the opening work. Orders for the cabinetry and counter tops have been submitted a couple of weeks ago. We have scheduled another pre-construction meeting, and we expect the electricians to come back out and help us deal with a situation with our hot water heater which is not located in the kitchen, but clearly impacts it. We will keep Angie's List readers posted as the project progresses.
Description of Work: My husband and I are remodeling our kitchen. The remodel is generated by a dangerous wiring problem (our house is old) which has in turn generated a domino effect in the rest of the kitchen. Due to the very solid construction of our home, addressing our problem is very complicated. We have had other electricians examine our kitchen who had also given us basically the same scenario, but could not provide "one-stop shopping" for the rest of the work necessary as S&W Kitchens does. S&W Kitchens has given us the big picture of what's going on (and what's not) in our kitchen, and then provided all the details as well. Everyone we have worked with at S&W Kitchens have been unfailingly professional and helpful. This is an established business in our community with other locations in our state. Example: They understand that we are not "well-heeled" customers and have worked patiently with us.Example: All appointments are kept, or rescheduled well in advance.Example: References from other customers are available.Example: They want to be sure that we understand everything, at the risk of redundancy. As a customer who is nervous about any major changes in any situation, I find redundancy preferable to bewilderment!Example: We have been provided copies of everything - drawings, estimates, contracts, etc., without having to ask for them.Example: We are welcome to the showroom/offices at anytime. Example: We were not pressured or influenced in any way to purchase our replacement appliances through them or their affiliates. They asked only that we provide specifications for the models purchased, which was easy to do.Example: They have no difficulty working with the appliances we are keeping, and are creating cabinetry that will easily accommodate replacements when the time eventually comes.

The designer came to our house. He was nice and very professional. We showed him pictures of ideas we'd been collecting from magazines. We explained that we had spoken with other companies, and showed him how we had used masking tape on the floor to show where they suggested we put our kitchen island. We told the S & W guy that we DID NOT LIKE the shape of the island as it threw off the lines of the room and stuck too far out into the walk area. We have an unusually shaped kitchen and it presents a design "challenge". He took measurements and notes and told us he would have his design ideas to us in 2 weeks (the other 3 companies we spoke with had ideas to us in a week) 4 weeks later... he called to let us know that he had a design for us to see. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. The design was similar to the other companies, including the island that we EXPRESSLY said we DID NOT LIKE! The price was double what everyone else said, and the design was mediocre. The design we were promised in 2 weeks took 4 weeks - which causes concern regarding deadlines. Needless to say we won't be hiring this company.
Description of Work: Had a kitchen designer come over to look at our kitchen and give us remodeling ideas and an estimate.
