It went very well. Just these small changes made a big difference in the kitchen. Work progressed nicely and did not have complete disruption in my life. The bathroom was transformed to a place I really am proud of. Greg Flassig was the Design specialist who made my dream into reality. The contractors were all mindful of the fact that they were in somebodys home and kept work areas clean. They were all very good in their areas of expertise. All relevant decisions are made before work begins so once it begins it goes smoothly. I would make my first call to S&W and ask for Gregg for future projects.
Description of Work: Partial Kitchen work . Changed out lighting , counter, backsplash, sink and faucets. The bathroom was small and the tub was placed in an awkward position. New cabinets, tile ,shower enclosed in glass enclosure. lighting, large medicine cabinets, flooring(tile) and toilet replaced. .The tub was removed and a much larger space was then open for the shower area with a bench at the far end.

Krista, our designer with S & W Kitchens, provided a fabulous plan, consistent with existing space constraints and our special wishes. She provided excellent choices of materials within our price range, such as cabinets, marble, stone flooring, contemporary shower and bath fixtures, and a spectacular glass shower enclosure. She priced every detail of the project so we were informed about the cost of our choices from the beginning. Her artistic style and design with attention to details ultimately conveyed a sense of warmth and beauty. The project supervisor, Tim, coordinated the construction, plumbing, and electrical changes beautifully, including the painting and other finishing touches. The subcontractors utilized were highly skilled, polite, considerate, and cleaned the work space at the end of each day. Each person we met through S & W Kitchens was professional and they worked together toward the goal of a job well-done. They were responsive to our input throughout the project. We are pleased with the final result of our Master Bathroom project. It is what we wanted and expected- a beautifully spacious, relaxing, and a "feel good" space that combines form and function. I highly recommend S & W Kitchens.

We researched and met with a number of different companies and providers before we chose S & W. Absolutely the best decision--unlike so many of our friends and neighbors, we did not have any hassles, untold, delays, major upsets, lack in quality, unresponsiveness or whatever nightmares you can imagine. We had heard all the horror stories and were nervous about even doing the remodel. But S & W Kitchens was great--from day one meeting with our designe,r Lacie Rice, to working with the contractor, and every single subcontractor. Quality, quality, quality. And believe it or not, the kitchen remodel was done ahead of schedule.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel every step of the way. Complete full service, excellent advice and guidance from the designer; great management by the contractor.

My Kitchen was stuck in the 80's. Right down to the lumidome drop ceiling with a fan in the middle. I had called out to another company but they did a no show which is a bad start in my book so I crossed them off my list. S&W was recommended to me by a friend (Specifically Krista) so I called her and she was very responsive. She showed up exactly on time for our first meeting and listen to my thoughts in regards to what I was looking for for an end results. We went to their show room and picked out some cabinet samples, granite samples, back splash samples etc and she said she would have a rough draft for us in a week or two. When finished the rough drawing she called and we met. It was more than I could ever imagined. She is a awesome designer. My wife and I both have difficulty making decisions sometimes but we both loved the first drawing so much that we told her to make it happen. I had already hired a contractor to do some of the opening up and vaulting of the ceiling so as soon as that was complete they pick right up and began the tear out an remodel. Their project manager answered every one of my texts on concerns or question on the same day sent as the process went on. Both Krista and the Project Manager was on site on a regular basis. All the workers were very trustworthy and polite. We did a final walk through when the job was complete and everything promised was delivered. It looks fantastic. I am considering using S&W for our master bathroom remodel as well.

We were very excited to remodel our Master Bathroom. It started out as just adding a jetted tub to the space and grew into our "Dream Bathroom" by completely redoing the walk-in shower, Vanity top, sinks, toilet and water closet, along with reconfiguring walls. We didn't know that our "Dream" would turn into a "Nightmare". Early-on in our planning, we found a supplier/installer for the quartz that we wanted to line the walls, tub deck and Vanity top; and needed a local Bathroom contractor for the remainder of the project. After contacting a few local Kitchen and Bath professionals, we decided to contract with S&W Kitchens, even though their estimate was $4000 higher than any of the others. We made this decision due to our comfort with the Designer and Estimator/Project Coordinator that we dealt with during the detailed planning process, S&W Kitchens' reputation, advertizing and the promise of a structured process with "the Highest Possible Level of Customer Service & Communication". We were assigned a Construction Superintendent, who initially met with us and our Designer to go over the job, all details of the contract and develop a schedule. Our job was estimated to be 5 to 7 weeks from start to completion, which based on our prior knowledge of construction practices, we thought was a little excessive, but we accepted it. Initially the job started out as promised, with daily morning planning calls from the Superintendent, which we had requested. There were minor day-to-day issues which popped up and were dealt with. We understand that this is normal for construction. However, we began to notice a pattern, starting with the quality of sub-contractors on the job. Next the communication started to drop off. It became a real problem after we made the substantial post demo payment. The Construction Superintendent had all sorts of excuses as to why he didn't call us with a daily update, as we had requested. Often, he didn't even return our voicemail requests for a call-back. He didn't seem to understand many of The Contract details or be able to manage the project properly. The Superintendent consistently tried to put the blame on our Designer or others in the Company for his inability to control the job. As our main contact on the job, we were told that it was his responsibility to understand our project and Contract completely in order to execute the job. The "final straw" came when the sub-contractor to install the shower floor showed up and was NOT the original person that came out to pre-plan the installation. They had NO knowledge of the product that we had specified. Our Designer and Estimator/Project Coordinator had researched the product thoroughly and knew that it was "different" from regular epoxy. The sub-contractor refused to follow the very specific instructions that came with the product, stating that "they knew epoxy floors". We tried to contact the Construction Superintendent (who was not on the job site when ANY of the sub-contractors were performing), because the shower floor sub-contractor started to apply the product improperly, but we only got the Superintendent's voicemail. So, we panicked and called our Designer to report we had a major issue on-site! Later we were chastised by the Superintendent, because he said we should only go thru him (S&W Kitchens' literature states "our project managers, construction team members and designers are always available for any questions you may have"). When the Superintendent finally did show up on the job, he didn't stop the shower floor sub-contractor, and he gave us his "personal guarantee" and that of S&W that they "knew what they were doing and we would LOVE the finished product". That wasn't the case. It turned out totally unacceptable with sharp edges, uneven coverage and no slope in some areas. At that point, we knew that there was no way that the Superintendent was credible any longer and our relationship with him had deteriorated to the point that we could no longer rely on him to complete the project. He had taken some shortcuts throughout the project, was NEVER on-site for the mandatory County Inspections (we had to walk the inspector through every detail) and had NOT adhered to the Contract requirements. We contacted our Legal Representative and sought her advice regarding our possible courses of action. We had to request a new Construction Superintendent and threatened legal action. As a direct result, The Director of Field Operations took over our job. A Certified Installer for the shower floor product was retained to chip-out and re-do it. This time it turned out perfectly. We went over ALL the missed details, issues, and Contract concerns with the Field Operations Director. He was very professional, addressed these items, and we were finally able to get the job completed. It's a shame that we didn't have someone like the Field Operations Director to work with our wonderful Designer and Project Coordinator, (who were both very knowledgeable and professional) from the beginning. We might have been spared the painful experiences and anguish. The Total Project Time was 12 1/2 weeks and only then due to getting our legal representative's support and advice, not the original 5 to 7 weeks estimated. We can only hope that if there are any Warranty Issues in the future that S&W Kitchens will stand by their Warranty. Unlike their advertising, we were NOT "100% happy" with the overall process and "The S&W Difference" was NOT "Simply Wonderful!". Wickham Rd, e

We are very sorry you are unhappy with your project. Your Master Bathroom is really beautiful and we're sure the finished project will fit your needs perfectly. Any remodeling project has many, many details and some inevitably slip – we strive to have few problems and to make amends where possible. Often during the process, changes are desired or required, which often cause delays or issues that need to be addressed. While the process of remodeling can often be stressful, the details are what make the final room so wonderful and last so long in your home. We hope you will reconsider your review when you have a moment to truly enjoy your new sanctuary.

The designer assigned to me was Wonderful!!! Her name was Kirsten Phillips. She really listened to my needs and wants. She helped me stay within my budget (as much as you can when doing a complete remodel) I am a "Snowbird", therefore, the construction was done when I was not present. Kirsten handled everything. Only had one change order, it had to do with the ceiling. The original construction (old building) wasn't quite right. They fixed it and now all is up to code. Kirsten sent me pictures and kept me up to date on when each phase of the project was happening; I came back to inspect the project when it was 95% finished; Kirsten seemed to pick out the things that were wrong even before I saw them. Everything was fixed in a very timely manner and to my complete satisfaction. I believe everyone went way above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my new kitchen. I would definetly reccommend this company.
Description of Work: I had my entire kitchen remodeled. Removed a wall, removed the ceiling, new cabinets, counter tops, plumbing and electricity; new appliances
I worked with Greg Flassig on the project. I felt comfortable with Greg. He is very easy going and perceptable. If you are not comfortable at the very start with your designer I think you should start over with somebody else. It takes a lot of back and forth but finally everything is on paper and you can see the future of your space. I was happy when the drawings appeared. When the project came to life I was overjoyed. The work crews were always mindful of the fact that they were in somebody elses home. I trusted them while at home and most importantly when I was away doing errands etc. The crews come in and do their work with as little disruption as possible and joy of joys they clean up after themselves.Everybody knows what they are supposed to do and if questions arise and I cannot provide answers the Dale the project manager steps in. I love my kitchen , it seems roomier and brighter. My bathroom is my treasure. I find myself just peeking in and smiling. I would always caution anybody doing construction work in their home ALWAYS be flexible as far as completion times. Things do happen.Questions Would you use S&W Kitchens again? Would you ask for Greg Flassig again.Answer A resounding Yes to both questions. I am glad that it is over , but I think it could not have been easier on me. I am grateful for that

Excellent! Having a project manager and multiple discussions reviewing plans in advance really helped the whole process move smoothly. The tear our was fast (1-2 days) and they hauled everything away (no pesky dumpster our front). Changing the wall to a half wall was no issue. The crew even moved it a few inches in one direction to give more space where it was needed (it is a tight space overall). The tile guy was AMAZING!!! We had specialty tile + stained glass tile and added niches in the shower area. Everything turned out perfectly! At the end we had an issue with the toilet leaking which was fixed with the urgency you would expect! S&W are top notch and we look forward to working with them again in the future!

Our kitchen was to be gutted and remodeled to pretty much the design it currently was. The experience working with S and W Kitchens was not a pleasant one for the following reasons: There was poor communication between the contractor and its subcontractors due to lack of supervision and attention to detail. Inadequate amount of materials being ordered to finish each phase of the project and lack of supervision and quality control resulted in numerous visits by the contractor and it's subcontractors to finish individual phases of the project. This was all extremely frustrating and resulted in a lack of trust in the work being completed on time and to an acceptable standard, un-necessary daily involvement on our part and un-necessary stress to ourselves. Our Kitchen is now complete, but has taken an excessive amount of time and heartache. I am sad to say that following our experience with S&W Kitchens we would not recommend them to anyone else. We found S &W on Angie's list, where they were listed S & W Kitchens. The reviews appeared OK, but following our experience and digging into the Angie List site further, it now appears that S & W Kitchens also appears as S & W Kitchens, Inc. as well as SandWKitchens. Under this name they have "D" and "F" ratings. This adoption of two names on the same site is extremely misleading! Do not get fooled by the same!!!! I can only grade them as a big 'F'!!! Our service was preformed in South Tampa, FL and we hired the South Tampa, FL office of S & W Kitchens.

Design work was very good. Brooke spend time making sure I knew what my options were and was able to give me great advice on decisions where I did not have an opinion. The kitchen installation went very well. It is a very beautiful kitchen and I have gotten a lot of compliments about it. Brooke also designed two bathrooms for me. The final results are beautiful. There was a problem with the initial size of the first bathtub. We ended up replacing that tub and I am very pleased with the result. Because I was dealing with a general contractor I had them do the installation in the bathrooms, but if I had not had the general contractor I would not have hesitated to use Brooke's folks.

We opted to use another contractor based on price. We have no doubt that S&K is worth what it was quoting. It simply was more than we wanted to spend. Brooke had a wonderful design aesthetic and immediately understood what we wanted to do. She even offered concepts to push us out of our comfort zone in addition to the ones we asked for. I did feel like we were being pushed toward higher quality (i.e., the Mercedes) than we wanted. That was a minor issue though. Overall, a positive experience. We certainly would use them again.

In a word, badly. We signed the contract on 10/24/13. Project was scheduled to be completed no later than 12/21/13. We were having company over the Christmas Holidays and S&W said they would have the job completed no later than 12/21/13. The initial job was not completed until mid January. Then, as noted later in this review, they had to come back and re-do the tub area. From the start we did not feel like a valued customer. We felt like S&W was fitting us in as opposed to us being a priority for them. Very poor communications from the assigned S&W contractor, missed time lines, days without any work being done on the job, sub contractors not knowing what was to be done when they got there... As part of the remodel, S&W was suppose to replace the sub floor as needed. We knew the floor needed replaced. The first time the carpenters came they did not know what they were supposed to do and could not get a hold of the contractor so they left and nothing got done. The second time they came, they did not remove all the old floor but instead tried to cut out and replace only certain parts of it. The bathroom is about and 8X8 area so it should have been easier just to put down a full subfloor. To my surprise, the carpenters did not even have the basic tools to do the job. No saw horses and no power saw. They were cutting the wood on the driveway with a saws all. I showed the contractor and designer that there was still a soft spot in the floor but they said it was no problem and added a brace under the floor for added support. I should have insisted that they pulled out the tub and re-did the floor but I trusted their judgement. That was a mistake. After many days of nothing or very little being done, the job was initially completed around 1/12/14. I wish that was the end of the story but it only gets worse. Almost immediately, grout stated to come out at the tub line. S&W came out and regrouted it but the problem continued. They we noticed that the water was not draining in the tub. I got out a level and confirmed that the tub was not even close to level. It was about 1/4 inch off. On 1/27/14 I contacted S&W about these issues. They recommended to put caulking around the tub. We had been told from the start that the grout they used was the best available and that we would never have any problems. So we told then no to the caulking and asked them to send someone out to re-grout the tub. On 3/27/14 I informed S&W that I had major concerns with the bath tub they installed. Grout continued to fall out, the tub was squeeking when taking a shower leading me to believe it was an issue with the sub floor and the tub was out of level. I requestd that S&W highest level supervisor come out to inspect the job and provide recommendations to make all the needed corrections. I never heard back from anyone to get it scheduled and had to reach back out to S&W on 4/3/14. They finally came and had to pull the tub, re-enforce the floor, retile and paint touch up. To make matters worse, they sent a non S&W person to re-do the tile. Not only did he do a bad job, he made comments about how the enire tile job was not done very well and had a very bad attitude. He made my wife cry. I contacted S&W again to let them know that the tile still needed some work but I did not want that person back in my house. You could tell he did not want to be there and it showed in his attitude and his work. They sent someone else to finish the job. On May 19th the job was finally done but due to all the re-work, especially the tile, the job is not as nice as what we expected.

I called S&W to request someone come to my home to provide a quote for a master bath and kitchen renovation. The receptionist put one of their designers on the line who asked me what I was looking to do. The only thing I was able to get out was the master bath remodel before she cut me off and said "ok well just so you know our master bath remodels average about $50k." Im not sure if for some reason the designer thought because I sounded young (I'm 29) that I wouldnt be able to afford their services or what but I was shocked. She didnt even ask me any questions about the size of the bathroom, home, scope of the project etc. before throwing that number out there which I thought was very unprofessional. I told her that I would not be spending $50k on a bathroom for a $450k home and that I had NEVER heard of $50k as an average for a bath remodel. Then she added that $50k was actually on the low end. I just moved to Winter Park from Indianapolis and can see now that there must be a market for $50k+ bathrooms in this area. S&W must be getting enough of that business that they can afford to treat those with $25k to spend on a bath so poorly. Obviously we never got to the kitchen discussion.

A member of our design staff spoke with [member name removed] for over 21 minutes. I am sorry that we disappointed her. [member name removed] described her primary project in detail and the scope was described to us as gutting and remodeling an entire master bathroom. The home is located in Winter Park Florida. Customer asked for budgeting information. We use nationally recognized industry guides to quote budgeting information. Customer was told that a project like what she described might cost between 42 - 50 K. We do many bathroom remodels for much less than this and some for more. There are many variables to consider when remodeling a bathroom. Tubs can cost as little as $200 or as much as $2000 + . Toilets can cost as little as $150 to as much as $5000. Tile can cost as little as $2 / sqft to as much as $30 / square foot. budgeting for a bathroom really depends upon the customers taste and how much they want to spend. We try to educate customers as much as possible and let them make the decisions.. We can work with any budget. We also spoke with [member name removed] about her kitchen remodel project for about 5 minutes.

Larissa was our consultant. She was very good at helping us with the design & picking out materials. Learned a lot from her about how things are constructed. We felt all items we selected were top quality. Pros- 1) If you ask them, they will demo old cabinets, so you can paint before they start remodel with new items. 2) Solid wood cabinets of high quality which we love with lots of features built in - pull out shelves, soft close, etc 3) Beautiful quartz countertops that were perfect with the blonde wood cabinets. 4) Majority of installation done to satisfaction 5) A few months after remodel was done, I discovered (when cleaning the floor) 2 partially drilled holes just above the trim at the bottom of the back panel of my island. They did send someone out to repair. Cons - 1) Misunderstanding about how I wanted a cabinet built on the end of the island. Ended up being more narrow than I had wanted. It did work out in the end. The good news is the cabinet was a bonus item, so did not cost us any $$. 2) While asked about where I wanted placement, height, etc of things being installed, I was not asked about height to install corner lazy susan shelf in upper cabinet. It was installed too high for me to reach (I am 5'2.5"). Shelf was lowered as part of punch list but them seemed reluctant to do it. Male installers need to consider if the customer is short and ask. 3) Felt rushed in picking a tile for the back splash. S & W wants all materials purchased & on site at start of remodel. Backsplash is one of the last things they did so I don't understand the rush. Selected tile from a local tile store due to it's uniqueness. I have learned that you should never select tile based on using small swatches of countertop & cabinet materials & you should wait until your lighting is installed in the kitchen to give a truer idea of what the tile will look like (we had undercabinet LEDs installed). As a result of selecting back splash tile based on lighting in the store, the tile was not the color I thought it was (cream) but came green, a color I had told them I didn't want. Since tile was a custom order, could not return or swap out for color I wanted. 4) Offered a more expensive induction range which was a budget buster. When I researched stoves, let me get a less expensive range that was more useful for the way I cook. They even took care of purchase & delivery of the range. 5) Found construction mess on top of some of upper cabinets. 6) Tile person to do back splash was a no show one day & then late the second day. 7) Awkward installation/arrangement of main light switch panel to accommodate added lights. Was not asked how I wanted switches. It was installed & now we have 5 switches on one plate, 2 of are positioned sideways. Without turning on switches, visitors would not know which light it operates. Overall, I would recommend S & W if you want a top quality kitchen or bath remodel. You may pay more but it's best not to go cheap on this type of remodel. Know what you want & don't scrimp on quality. We went over budget a little, but I now have a better functioning kitchen I know will last and that looks like one in a magazine.

Absolutely avoid this company. We chose them because of their reviews here and other places and had complete confidence that they could handle our small updates to our baths. Unfortunately this simple job turned from a 3-5 week job into a 12 week ordeal and ended with us calling it quits and finishing the job ourselves. The initial meetings went really well. Jim and the Designer Lindsey were great. The quote took a very long time (first consultation was in August 2013 and construction began December 10th). There were long periods of waiting to hear back from S & W on prices. They were not the cheapest?in fact?they were the priciest quote we received...and yet we trusted that they would give us a finished product in a professional manner. We didn't have time to manage the job and trades ourselves. The bottom line is that they have completely overbooked themselves, have lost good employees, hire underprepared project managers who don't have a clue how to manage time, communications or schedules for even a small job and they utilize sub contractors who are guessing how to do the work. We ended up having to step in to get the counters installed so that the faucets functioned properly?this took the granite company SEVEN trips to the house to get to a point where we could live with the result. It wasn't all bad. The tile subcontractors worked hard and corrected any errors?did a beautiful job. The shower glass surround installers did a beautiful job the first time out. The plumbers were conscientious and professional, but lacked attention to detail when it came to sealing up the fixtures. Our main complaint, and the reason we will never use S & W for any future jobs, was the exceptionally poor management of the job. The Jobsite Manager was consistently making excuses ( both stemming from his personal life, and workload issues) for why things weren't moving along. Two weeks would go by easily without a response or any work being done on our bathrooms. We were probably a little too flexible with it all?thinking we still needed our job done and done well?and paid the price by being at the bottom of his priorities. In all we spent twenty-two thousand for our master bath floor/surround tile, shower surround, countertop/sinks, and fixtures. No walls or plumbing were moved. There was no new tub, toilet or cabinets. This also includes a new tile floor and countertop, sink and lighting fixture in our small hall bath. We did all the demo, caulking and painting for both?and fixed all the errors afterward. It's done. It doesn't look like a professional job in some spots...but it's done and it functions. If you can afford the time, I would hire and manage contractors yourself or hire a larger company like Lowes or Home Depot's services. We will when we do our Kitchen this year.

We were very pleased with the entire process. The sales staff was courteous, the showroom had plenty of options for cabinets and hardware, the installation was seamless and the results were great. It has been 4+ years and the refaced cabinets still look fantastic.

S&W are not nice people to work with. They are extremely expensive and their is no transparency in their billing. Their bill shows $98 for grout, $72 for a shower head, then a total of $4815. What is the $4645 for? It looks we are going to lose our $2781 down payment, but on the bright side, we will have saved thousands by not contracting S&W for the water damage work. Sometimes lessons learned can be expensive. We recommend you do not give these people your hard earned money without a very detailed contract and maybe legal help. If you can afford S&W you can probably afford a lawyer too.
Description of Work: S&W was contracted to replace shower glass enclosure, re-grout shower floor, and replace exhaust fan for $4815.23. We didn't realize how ridiculously over priced this was. However, before grouting started, water damage was discovered, so we called in our insurance agent, who estimated repair would cost approximately $11,000. S&W gave us a verbal estimate of over $21,000. Our agent gently suggested getting another estimate. We are having the work finished by another contractor inside the $11,000 range, but S&W refuses to return our original $2781 and then bill us for the little amount of work which they did. All S&W did was remove two glass panels on the shower enclosure and replace a very noisy bathroom exhaust fan with another noisy fan. They refuse to negotiate a fair price for work done, and they continue to bill us for the $4815!

We heard of S&W Kitchens on WDBO. We then picked up the S& W Kitchen designer's business cards at the home in Garden show in Orlando. When I spoke to her on the phone she was nice and professional. The day of the appointment she called to see if she could come several hours later than scheduled. We could not do this as we had another scheduled appointment. She showed up 30 minutes late anyway. The contractor showed up on time ,but sat out front in his car for 10 minutes. No one really seemed to care what we wanted. They seemed more interested in up selling us. We only wanted to reface the cabinets and replace the counter tops with granite. The designer kept trying to get us to get all new cabinets and said it was easier and the same price as refacing. Then when she gave us the estimate she said it would be a few thousand more then refacing. The designer did not give us any suggestions whatsoever. In order for this to happen we were told we would have to give them a $1,000.00 retainer fee. The worst part was when the contractor told us we would be charged $650.00 for damage to the house! We questioned this and were told that "when you carry a large slab of granite you are going to hit a few wall". We were given a quote of $17,000.00-$28,000.00. A huge difference! Also, a very high quote. We ended up going with another company that was much more helpful and reasonable. We ended up paying thousands of dollars less. This included having a desk and new cabinets built on a separate wall and a new sink Plus the refacing and granite counter tops. For anyone thinking about using this company don't waste your time.
