The work was done very well. Solid workmanship and the on time service. The price was a little higher than we wanted to pay, but I feel we got what we paid for.

Very satisfied with the quality of the work. Workers cleaned up at the end of each day. There were some weather delays. Apparently they got behind on other jobs and our work had to wait. Would definitely recommend them.

The end result was 150% better than I can imagine. It was a big job of removing and replacing existing pavers, coping around pool and spa, then remove existing tile and install perfectly mosaic tile. The craftsmanship especially with the coping was a real art. The crew took painstaking time to get it right the first time. When we had questions either the owner or crew manager were always helpful. If you want a competitive price and first class results I highly suggest giving Sunsation Pools a call. The owner and crew really care.

I have never seen a company more concerned about a job and they were great to work with especially Josephine and Bruce. Everyone in the company were completely professional and paid great attention to detail. We were going to get other estimates, but after speaking to Bruce we didn't need to speak to anyone else.

I emailed the company and they responded the same day to schedule an appointment. Steve was on-time, actually early and very personable. He was able to answer all of my questions. He gave some insight into the project and seemed very enthusiastic. We are making our final decisions regarding our project and expect to talk to Steve in the future.

We already picked a contractor to do our pool and literally forgot about our quote appointment with Sunsation Pools. They were extremely kind and understanding. VERY professional and deserving of your attention if you are in need of pool work.

Bruce,Lawrence and their crew did a fantastic job transforming our backyard into a resort. We couldn't have asked for a better company in providing the quality and workmanship for our home.

It went great. The pool and pavers were completed in ample time and look great. They are easy to clean and maintain and look beautiful with our landscaping now we have a backyard to entertain ourselves and guests.

Requested an estimate from Sunsation. We set a time, he showed up on time and gave us a detailed estimate. As Steve measured around our pool, he noted that our coping was loose. We had intended to get pavers installed, however to do this, the end of the coping that slopes over and towards the pool water must be cut off; because the coping was loose, Steve told us they could not do the pavers as the copings could become totally loose, necessitating unreasonable repair costs and difficulties. He showed us some other options and gave us an estimate for a two-color acrylic resurfacing and some other minor fixes. We drove to their showroom to judge better on the colors and various patterns available and picked out our favorite. As Steve stated it, to his knowledge there is only one type of resurfacing that Sunsation cannot do and he called that company for us and we ended up going with that company. That involved a concrete-acrylic substance that we preferred. We were very happy with Steve's estimate and fully trust that Sunsation would have completed the work properly if we had chosen them.

Sunsation has a good crew, great work, they know what they are doing and did a great job. Quality of service and quality of work was excellent.

The Representative arrived, for the estimate, on the scheduled date and on time. This was the second highest estimate that we received (even though we did not include a pump replacement). FYI: Interestingly the two lower estimates we received did include replacing the pump; which decided to include as we were progressing through the process. If this had been a more reasonable estimate we would have requested to have the pump included. The Representative was a little more aggressive than I prefer and when I notified the company that we would not be contracting with Sunsations, he called me and continued to be aggressive about why I went with another company and that he had never of them, etc.; I didn't care for the attitude. On another note, the Representative evidently belongs to some "group" where they refer each other. He recommended a house painter (we were also getting estimates for house painting) and gave me his information. I told him that I would check him out on Angie's List and contact him should I decide to get an estimate from his company. The next day, I got a call from the house painter to set up an appointment for the estimate. I was not happy about that and considered it to be unprofessional. I did go ahead and get the estimate from his "buddy", but after reviewing all house painting estimates, we didn't use him either. UPDATE (02/06/2013): The Representative did call to apologize and I appreciate the gesture. Just to be very clear, in reference to the paint contractor. It wasn't the recommendation by the Representative that bothered me. It was the fact that he went ahead and contacted that company after I had said that I would check it out on Angie's List and then I would contact the company. I changed 'Would you use this company/individual again in the future?' to "Yes" and I upgraded 'Professionalism' to an "A" because I consider the fact that I was contacted to apologize an indicator that this company is concerned with their standing in the profession and are interested in securing customer satisfaction.

We recently moved to Florida and had never had a pool before. Our new home had a pool, spa and waterfall, which was 15 years old, with a Marzite finish. When we developed a hole in the pool finish, we talked with many companies about what we should do and what our options were. In addition to the pool finish issue, our deck was concrete with lots of stains and our equipment was like a Rube Goldberg project. We got estimates from six different companies in the area before choosing Sunsation Pools. Steve Buscema made several trips to our home to discuss the project, his knowledge and enthusiasm was one of the main reasons we chose his company. His price was not the highest or the lowest, but was reasonable compared to the other quotes we got. Many of the other companies we talked with did not spend as much time with us or make us feel like they wanted our business. Their representatives were more like sales people, rather than pool people. We felt very comfortable with Steve and his company. In addition, we researched Angie's List and BBB which both showed very favorable ratings. By the time we decided on a company, it was mid-November and we had company coming for Christmas, so we were anxious to get this done before they arrived mid-December. This was a big project, we ended up totally redoing all the equipment, pumps, heater, etc.. We chose Travertine deck, pebble-type finish for the pool and granite for the spillover waterfall. Throughout the process, Steve explained the costs of various options and how the process would go. We were concerned about the timing, but were assured it could be done in time for our company. Everything turned out beautiful and was done on time. (The pool finish needs to cure for one month before salt conversion, so the finish date we show above was when everything was finalized.) They were excellent about insuring we were satisfied. There were some small details that they fixed promptly to our satisfaction. Their craftspeople were great, the tile guys worked closely with us to get the proper grout color and placement of the deco tiles. They also did the Travertine coping, which came out fabulous. Everyone at Sunsation was great, we definitely recommend them to anyone who needs pool work done. Although we expect this to be our last pool remodel for this house, if we ever need a pool redone again we will use Sunsation!

I met the people from Sunsation at the Home show on Sunday in Tampa in early January and filled out a form to request someone come out to my house and give me an estimate on converting my filter to salt and possibly upgrading my pump. I also asked that they give an estimate for a possible leak. They said they would call us for an appointment early the following week. After 10 days and no call I called their office in Largo and spoke with an individual who gave me two (over the phone) quotes for their leak detection services. I explained that we still wished to have an estimate for the conversion to a salt filter and a pump upgrade and she said someone would call to make an appointment. After another week and still no call I called them a second time and was given another (over the phone) quote for the price of converting to a salt filter. When I explained that I wished someone to actually come out and look at the pool because there were several other details I wished to go over with them, they told me that someone would call the following morning to set up an appointment. By this time 2 1/2 weeks had elapsed and it seemed as if it was too much of an inconvenience to have anyone come over and look at the pool, or for that matter even call and tell me when they would come over. The following day, still no call. I called Pat Taylor Pool service that afternoon and he showed up later in that same afternoon to a**** all of the issues with the pool. We set up a schedule to begin work within 2 days and later that night I received a full estimate for all of the work we wished to have done. (Needless to say I was very happy with Pat Taylor pool service...but that is in another review). The following after noon I received a call from Sunsation Pools ( a day after I was told they would call) wishing to set up an appointment to look at the pool....some 2 1/2 weeks after I was told someone would be out and after 2 separate phone quotes for parts of the job. I told them that I had already hired someone and that their service was no longer needed. Very disappointing to say the least.

Steve was fantastic! He responded right away and gave us a detailed estimate within 12 hours of our initial meeting.

With very few exceptions, and those mostly weather - related, the whole project was accomplished within the stipulated time frame. The material and workers showed up timely and the individual projects were done as stated. All of the workers were polite and very respectful of our privacy and our needs.

When the pool screen gave out, we knew it was time to replace the pool deck as well. Finding the right contractor proved to be a daunting task, glazing our eyes over with more questions and more stress as to wondering if we would ever make the right decision. Enter Steve Buscema, owner of Sunsation Pools. From his initial impression, we knew we'd found the right company: he was punctual, professional, local, brought all of the necessary credentials including BBB & Angie's List references, and copies of licenses, not just numbers. He gave us suggestions not mentioned by others and best yet, after visiting his showroom, he took us to the home of one of his happy clients who chose exactly the design/color/pavers that we did, so we were totally confident with our decision. Just one of the ways that Steve goes 'the extra mile'. I'm sure that we exasperated Steve when he first had to schedule around the weather and then we had multiple delays due to additional problems that needed to be fixed by our paint contractor. Once Sunsation Pools started, it was an amazing process to watch the transformation. Steve's team did everything as promised. The final result exceeded out expectations, and now it is a joy to spend time around the pool, or simply enjoy the view from our window. Without reservation, we would recommend Steve Buscema and his company Sunsation Pools and Spas.

We kept running unexpected problems (including weather), so it took longer than expected, but it looks beautiful!

Contract signed / first check ? 6/22/2012 Final check / project completed ? 10/1/2012 We agreed to have Sunsation Pools and Spas resurface and repair our pool and deck and rescreen our cage. The contract was signed and first payment was made on 6/22/2012. This was to be approximately a 2 week project and was supposed to start in approximately 2 weeks. They never did finish until 10/1/2012; more than 3 months later. They used all kinds of excuses as to why they could not work ranging from the Republican Convention to broken down equipment to broken down vehicles and the weather. Once, they had me turn on their pool pump because it was starting to rain. I plugged in the extension cord but the pump did not come on. I went to wiggle the plug near pump and sparks jumped out all over and finally the pump came on. It seemed like all of their equipment was barely in working condition. Once a cement mixing machine broke down and delayed the project about a week. At another time a pickup truck broke down so they could not work on our screens for at least several days. The screens were not put up correctly; they were sagging at the bottom, loose at the top, had defective looking lines running through some panels, and had the Florida screen put in the wrong panels. When we complained, first they stated that one of us would have to take the day off work and make sure they did everything correctly (is that not the Project Manager?s job?). Then they argued with us concerning the placement of the Florida screen. They said that they would have to check the pictures they took. Within a few days, they came out and placed the Florida screen on the correct panels with no apologies. They even complained that they were held up because we did not tell them where the doors for the cage were. We definitely told our salesman that we were going to buy new doors and install them ourselves after they were all done. One day we came home to find a 20? trailer from the screeners parked in the middle of our front yard. We asked them to move it to the side as all of the other sub-contractors did. The guy did move it but was cussing all the way out the door. I am not entirely happy with the deck paint. Looking very closely, you can see a few spots where the paint did not go into some holes. Also there is a bit of a shading difference where they had to paint around some of the pool repair equipment and then came back later to touch up. Also, since the painting was done before some of the other work, there are minor scuffs and scrapes left. The workers left a lot of trash and garbage behind for us to clean up. This included cigarette butts, chewing tobacco tins, Styrofoam cups, clothes hanging on our porch decorations, and construction material dumped and scattered all over. Screening material that fell in the pool was left there and also all around the yard. Cement and plaster was dumped all over our yard and left to dry. We still have cement splatters in the skimmer that I have not had a chance to chip out. Basically, we lost a whole summer of pool fun and still have regrets when we go onto our deck.

I don't give out complaints to companies easily. But, Sunsation Pools & Spas, won me over with their professionalism and job performance. They took a very old and worn out pool/spa/deck and transformed it into a beautiful showcase that I am proud to share with visitors and friends. Four different crews, were needed for the various aspects of the job. Each crew, did a magnificent job. This fact along with the owners Lawrence & Steve's, attitudes of, "we will do everything we can to make you happy", compels me to unhesitatingly recommend them for all your pool/patio needs. This is a rare company that offers a worry free service!

Sunsation was referred to us as a reliable contractor and they did not disappoint. Bruce always promptly returned phone calls if we had questions.

They helped us select the proper motor. After talking with them, I elected to replace the pump, too. They were prompt and the service was fast. The prices were quite reasonable.

We had a few ups and downs but in the end I am very, very happy with my new pool and deck! I signed the contract at the end of March with hopes of having all the work done by Memorial Day weekend. I was told that should not be an issue...however things did not go quite as planned. It well into May before they got started. But once they got started they really worked. First the water had to be pumped out, then the old pool tile had to be removed. This was all done by one individual - Jason (who was wonderful!) He cleanup everyday - knowing that I had a small dog who would be going out, he made sure that there was nothing around for him to try to eat or pickup. He also installed a rail at the steps of the pool so my parents can get in and out easier. Jason re-tiled the pool and did all the cleanup for the next crew - they only do the pool refinishing. I pick a blue speckled color - which looks great! These guys were VERY FUSSY. Then the water was put in... Next they came and took out the old tile that was on part of the pool deck. Here is where the surprise came in... it was laid at a different time and was a different type of cement. It took a little longer to prepare and I added a drain that ran between the two slabs of cement for drainage. When they were finished it looked better than I could have hope for : )

I was quite disappointed in that they received such good reviews here on Angie's list. I will not be using them at this time.

Having trouble keeping our pool crystal clear - called Sunsation. They promptly set up a visit to inspect the pool and review the problems we were having. After a thorough inspection, and a clear explanation of the system, and some pointers, we were back up and running. Friendly, prompt, knowledgeable and personable.
