Overall a good experience. Quality of work was very good. My only issues were discussed with Lawrence (production manager?) regarding communication and scheduling of our remodel. We were told when we booked the job, they were scheduling 5 weeks out. There was no contact from the company until we were past the 5 week mark and it was initiated by us.

Bruce was our primary contact and was very helpful from initial recommendations to decisions on material through installation. The deck, pool tile and cage are beautiful. We enjoy our time in the pool more than ever.

The skimmer replacement required making two piping connections and attachment to the pool structure in a confined space. They performed this work very professionally and with a high quality standard. They also resurfaced our pool deck by patching the cracks and applying a one color textured acrylic surface. This work was also very professionally done to a high quality standard.

Mr Spath was punctual. Spent longest of any of the five we had estimating the job but when he left we had quote (and recommendations / insurance info etc.) in hand (rather than these being emailed a day to several days later).. Know that Sunsation is well regarded but their price was nearly double that of quote we finally went with and higher than the other three quotes as well! (As we are 2/3 of the way through the entire 'makeover' with our first choice pool renovator, we are pleased with what they're providing for far less),

Over a 4 week period ( right on schedule) Steve and his talented crew diagnosed the needs to repair my pool and spa surface and change the seating arrangements. He was also placing pavers over the old cracked concrete surface. The pool was prepped, new skimmer was placed, light and returns were resurfaced, the new steps were formed and gunite was placed over the first two weeks. Then a new tile line was added along with the new paver coping. The new marcite interior was troweled on in week 3 with pavers finishing the job at the end of week 4. After fill and water balance, the pool was turned over to my pool service company for regular maintenance. The staff was excellent, from the office to owner to supervisor to the crew, everyone was neat, courteous, and EXTREMELY professional. Very pleased.

The pool has leaked ever since they did the job. We are losing 1-2" a day of water. They indicated that they sent someone out to find the lead and repaired it. We never saw anyone. The company a refused to fix the problem after many many calls over the years. I had other companies come in the to see if I can put back a vinyl liner and they indicated that they could not. The pool is now unless and has been off for several months. They also did not pick up some of the garbage they left even though they said they would.

My boyfriend and I inherited a house with a pool that had a fiberglass finish from 10 yrs ago (never get fiberglass) and an old cracked deck from 20 yrs ago. Needless to say, it was literally painfully obvious, the pool and surrounding area needed to be refinished. We had a recommendation to Sunsation Pools, Steve came out within the week to give us an estimate. He was a younger guy that you could tell knew pools in and out beyond his deceiving age. He gave us an estimate that was well below our prior estimates so we decided to make an appointment to go in the office to look at more details. Unfortunately, I work late so I wouldn't be able to meet until around 6 and their showroom hours are open to 5. This is where the superior service begins and continues even now, AFTER they finished the job. Without hesitation, Steve agreed to meet us at 6 in the show room. When we arrived we realized this exceptional young knowledgeable guy we've been dealing with was the OWNER. So it wasn't just a worker agreeing to stay way past closing for a POSSIBLE pool makeover it was the owner. So now what did they have to offer? Again we had been to other companies to get quotes and I can assure you they had at least DOUBLE the amount of specialty tiles which were included in the price of a resurfacing. They also had DOUBLE the pavers both color AND style to redo the deck then any other company we had been to. With this and with him staying so late I thought I'd be rushed or pressured to maybe come back at another time during normal hours to pick out what we wanted. NOT at all, he was so patient answering dozens of questions we had along with even telling us when something just simply wasn't worth it instead of just selling it to us for a profit. Needless to say after we left that night we were sold. From there, they were very proactive about keeping us informed of what step was next and when it would be completed. There were a total of about 4 different teams to complete all of the steps of the process, the fiberglass removal, specialty tile placement w/the coping, laying the pavers, and finally the resurfacing. ALL 4 teams were VERY proficient and thorough in what they did. Even now, after the job is finished, Steve has done everything he could in educating us about being pool owners for the first time and insists on us contacting him with any questions or concerns. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them for minor to major pool work.

Never got further than the home show.

I was unhappy because the pool deck was very hot, but Tim assured me that it would cool down. Now it is warm, but it is not hot. He had to use a box cutter to get the top off of the skimmer. As a result, some of the paint cracked and needs to be repaired around the outside of the cover, but will be repaired soon.

Email was sent on 6/10/14. Received a call the next day, 6/11/14. Bruce Spath came out on 6/12/14 to give us a quote. He was on time, knowledgable and professional. We went with another company only because of the pool surface selection.

The project went well and given the weather it was timely. The grout at the captile continues to be an issue and I am currently in communications to have this handled under warranty. This has taken longer than expected even in considering weather delays.

We have a very large old pool (approx. 50 yrs) and it was in need of an update. Sunsation came out and gave us an estimate for the entire project. We were very pleased with the final result and were pleasantly surprised to find out we received even more than they promised. They even removed two screen doors and reconditioned them to fit over the new pavers. All the people involved with this project were very professional and keep to the time schedule. I would definitely refer them to friends and neighbors. In fact, we plan to use them again in a few weeks to seal the new pavers. We would especially like to thank Josephine (office manager) at Sunsation for her great attitude and helpful suggestions.

Bruce came out to my house and gave me a proposal on 2/17/2014. He was very professional, even suggesting what needed to be done without me having to explain what I wanted done. i knew I needed a new skimmer and without asking about it, he told me I needed one. After thinking it over, I did not seek another estimate. I had a good feeling about this company since I read the reviews here on Angie's List. I went ahead and signed the proposal. Sunsation had a backlog of work but they were able to begin in a few weeks. There were rain delays but all was worth the wait. The pool was completed and filling on the 31st of March. Lawrence was the Superintendent and we had great communication by phone and text message. The pool, built in 1958, is now pristine again and I am so happy! Highly recommend.

We liked the finished job so far. The crew that came out to do the job was very professional and did a nice job. The gentleman that came out and did the estimate was a very nice person but because we were new to all this and hadn’t had a pool before had to listen to what he had to say. When we actually signed and gave him the cheque on the job then we called them to check when they would come out and do the job and they said that they would get back. They did call us back and scheduled us for the next Tuesday. Then after that till afternoon no one came so we called them back, she said that they would be coming Wednesday. Then they came on Wednesday and drained the pool. Then we had rain and they couldn’t complete the job. Then they told as it would rain they would come on Friday and when we called on Friday the girl on the phone said that they would be coming out next Tuesday to do the pool. Then again at 1’o clock we called to check whether they would be coming. They never used to call and we always used to call them. Then that afternoon they came out and resurfaced the pool and did a very nice job. The people that did it did a very nice job. Then the next morning the lady called to tell that there would be a gentleman coming to spray chemicals in the pool and to pick up their cheque. So we were not very happy with the communication of this particular company. It took two weeks for them. They should have told us when they would come.

I plan on using them. The guy came out, great guy and very knowledgeable. Afterwards he had some questions; he came back and said he couldn’t do the pool refinished. Just scratch that off your quote and the price of the one box that I gave which you already have, there’s no problem there, just let me know when you are ready. We just couldn’t get a schedule together; we just can’t meet on a scheduled date. We just ended up with nothing, by that time I already gotten what I needed. I don’t think that’s a negative. He came out the day I requested on the first of February and then we had some dialogue to change something up, always responded right back within a day on my emails. He followed up to make sure both of us are on the same page with phone calls and if God willing, if everything goes through, we can pull this off, and the work will start on mid-April or first of May and I will definitely give a review by then. He went through the whole process, explained everything, I had 3 different quotes, and he has the best quote.

We got estimates from several highly rated companies, each of which would have done a good job, I'm sure. We selected Steve and Sunsation because of his good ideas regarding the replumbing of our pool. This was a 30 year old pool with an antiquated pop-up 'floor cleaning system' that didn't work. Steve suggested moving the vacuum line and that has proved to be an excellent idea. Our pool cleaner is now able to keep up with the many leaves that fall (it is not screened) with a shorter hose. Sunsation has a showroom to help pick the type and pattern of pavers as well as a manufacturer's website that was quite helpful. We had lots and lots of questions and Steve came back several times with much patience. Before the pool work was to begin, we had another contractor rework a patio and also the gutters. Steve had good suggestions for that, including changing our French Drain system to a 'deco drain' that looks soooo much better. I also called a few of his references (I wanted to know what they thought a few years down the road) and previous customers were very helpful. Rain delayed the start of the work, but that did not upset us, and Sunsation kept us informed. Once the work started, I we were more than impressed with the work ethic of his crews. The worked hard and fast in the Florida August heat. There was always a lead person who was there to answer questions. When the deck work began, someone suggested connecting the deck with the small slab outside a bathroom door. That really improved the look and was another good idea that I would not have come up with on my own. There was an extra charge, but worth it. Another example - Steve recommended we keep our existing ladder because its quality is better than what is made today. We certainly appreciated that. As the work completed, the crews were good to come back and fix areas of concern - some pavers were damaged and replaced; deco drain needed to be trimmed, additional sand was needed in some areas. My only disappointment was the stairs. I mistakenly thought the stairs would have rounded edges, but they used the flat pavers, including the spacer bumps on the edges. They came back several times to grind edges and change the way they met the railings and we finally agreed to call it done. In my mind we paid top dollar and I expected a more finished look to the stairs. The rest is beautiful, though, and I am very pleased overall.

The pool looks beautiful and we are anxious to use the spa. (it's not quite finished) The pool crews have all been skillful and courteous. We would definitely recommend Sunsation Pools to anyone considering a pool remodel.

Steve, the owner, came out and gave us his suggestions for what should be done and worked with us on price. His team showed up on time and did a great job. Would highly recommend.

I contacted this company to talk about new pool construction. When they called back I was told they do not do new construction in Hillsborough County event though their description lists it in their area.

They need to update their "Service Area", which currently includes Sarasota County. However, when they retuned my call to them, they informed me that they do not go south of Bradenton, Fl.
