Two techs showed up and explained what they were to do and what the prices for that work would be. The lead tech provided homeowner with alternatives to reinstalling storm panels for fron entry door. We were most satisfied with work and professionalism of the crew sent out to do the work. The employee named Greg as excellent and is commended.
Description of Work: Inspected all hurricane shutters, clean surfaces, clean and provided maintenance to mechanisms and reinstalled storm panels for front door requiring new fastners and holding devices.

The job went great. Everyone showed up on time, sometimes calling to confirm the time. The whole process went smooth and the installers Frank and Joe took their time to show me the product and answer all my questions. We were able to work around my schedule. They also were very professional, prompt and cleaned up any mess. So far, I am very pleased with the shutters and have used them once for a heavy rain.
Description of Work: Sandra came out and provided options for shutters. I have 27 windows or openings and decided to do the shutters in two phases. The company was great to work with me and my budget. Andy did the actual measuring and installation soon followed. I have a two story house, so depending on the window size and location, I used a combination of roll-downs and accordians. I had 10 windows and 2 doors done. This included a large patio door with a motorized roll-up. The work was done over 3 days. An inspection was set up and the job passed without any problems.

Their sales representative (Sandra) showed up on time and was very professional. She also gave us all of our options. We decided on the accordian hurricane shutters to protect our french doors during storms. When Sandra left, we received follow-up calls from her, and from other people in their office, confirming the various steps along the way. Within a day, Andy came by to verify measurements, explain the procedure and approximate time involved to install. Andy also extended an offer to call him at any time for any concern that might arise, saying `we really care about the work that we do'. Thereafter, the company called us within another day or so to ask if we would like to have the sutter installer MUCH sooner than our timetable. We said yes, and before the end of the week, Frand & Greg showed up to install the hurricane shutter. They were professional and wasted no time in getting right to work. Within a short amount of time, the job was completed, the area was policed and the shutter was in place and working great. Once the hurricane s****** was installed, Cassidy (from their office), called to let us know that the inspection had been scheduled for the following day (as we had asked for) - and she even included the phone number and prompt numbers to find out what time of day the inspector would be coming. We had asked that the job be completed before May 1st (including the inspection) - and we ended up with a completed job on April 14th (including the inspection). We are very satisfied with the work performed, the way in which it was performed, and the people who work with this company. Great Job! We would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: We contracted for a very large Accordian-type Hurricane shutter, (about 10 feet long) to protect our four french doors against storms. It required attaching a track to the upper outside wall, and a track to the cement floor. It also required side end-caps and specific alignment, so that it would slide with closed and open with ease. Frank & Greg drilled hardware into both upper and lower tracks, to hold the aluminum accordian shutter in place. When the work was done, they cleaned-up, said good-bye and continued to their next job. When the inspector came the next day, he said `they did a great job'. We can't ask for more than that.

We have purchased shutters from this company for two homes. They did a great job the first time and that is why we rehired them for our new house. The work was scheduled promply and was finished ahead of schedule. The materials are very high quality and the crew was a pleasure. The Pinellas county code inspector told me that although he was not familiar with the company, the installation was first rate. He said "they went beyond what they needed to do to meet code." I would not hesitate to recommend this Company to anyone!

After the initial proposal, they came out to make exact measurement & drawings because ours was a custom design installation. We had an accurate time table and the work was done in an extremely professional manner. The workers were conscience & courteous and cleaned up after the job was done.
Description of Work: I had numerous companies quote the same hurricane shutters & Roll-A-Guard was by far the best quality shutter I found. Although electric shutters are not inexpensive, the quality & professionalism we received from Roll-A-Guard made this project well worth it. I highly recommend this company.

A sales person visited my home and helped me decide which style of shutters would serve my home's four entrance doors best. We set a date for installation. The same day someone came to measure for the shutter construction. The company manufactured the door protection units according to the specs of the measure. Installers showed up as scheduled and the job was completed in one day. I am very pleased with the quality and workmanship of the two styles of shutters that I selected.

He was very professional and capable. Went straight to work and stayed until he was sure everything worked perfectly. He advertises that he can work on all brands of shutters and he proved it. Also gave me a spray can of what he uses to oil the shutters. He was polite and well mannered. I will always use him in the future. I can now start the hurricane season in the secure knowledge that my hurricane shutters are working perfectly.
Description of Work: My Roll-a-way hurricane shutters were installed 10 years ago by another company that has since gone out of business. During bad weather I tried to lower them and they weren't working. Called Andy. He came over quickly with his apprentice Steve. Andy diagnosed the two problems immediately and fixed them. He realigned the shutters so they would close correctly, oiled them, and tightened the bracket that the back-up pole fits into. Excellent work.

They came on time, finished on time, and were professional and courteous. We had asked them to replace the screens for the balcony as well as the shutters, since this can only be done when the shutters are not in place, and they even replaced more screens then we had asked for, without charging extra. All in all it was a very pleasant experience.

A very professional and satisfying experience for us as owners. Two men did the whole job in a letter less than 4 hours. Very impressive since they had to use a scaffold anchored to the outside wall with a safety line to the building roof..Dangerous work, but they were old hands at it! They laid down a protective canvas over our rug, and when finished they cleaned up the work area thoroughly and made certain we were satisfied. Also, they consulted the building custodian to be certain all was satisfactory.
Description of Work: At my request, Andy, the company owner, visited my 10th floor condo and checked out an erratic performing motor on my 16 year old hurricane shutter. He responded to my call for help immediately and recommended that I try using for as long it would work. I agreed. He refused to charge me the service call, saying he had not been able to do any repair work. This was on 1/26/2010. (Since we are seasonal residents Jan to May, the motors are subject to problems from lack of usage for an extended period.) Later, it became obvious to me that I had to replace the motor to insure reliable performance in case of a storm emergency in my absence, So I arranged for Andy the do the work.

They did quite a bit of work and it was top quality. The price was also reasonable for what they did. One of the owners actually gave the original estimate. After the estimate she went along her way and didn't bug me to contract with them. After I decided on this company, they came back out and re-measured everything to make sure it was correct. It was an enjoyable experience and they even called after to make sure I was pleased. I would highly recommend them for hurricane protection projects.
Description of Work: They put accordion shutters across 33 feet of sliding glass doors in the back of my home. They also put accordion shutters across a big window on the other side of the house. They put a fabric cover across my front entranceway and they actually put plastic up on the side entry to the garage even thought this is not something they normally do.

I decided to go with them because they were on Angie's List and rated very highly. We went to their office to finalize things and liked what we saw. We liked their professionalism, timeliness and the fact that they were not pushy at all, although, they really stood by their product. They came on time with the shutters, we did not have to run around and they answered all my questions. They guys who came to do the installation were great. They were friendly, pleasant to be around and cleaned up after themselves. It was just an all around very good company as far as work is concerned and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

My first call was to the original installer who had been servicing these shutters for years. They charged me $205 to come to my house. They took the motor out and put it in the garage. They left the shutters down on my bedroom window! Their estimate to repair was $2000+ and recommended to replace at an even higher cost. Desparate for a repair at a reasonable price, I called Roll A Guard. Andy came out the next day to have a look, at no charge! He came back 2 days later and worked several hours to repalce what the other company took apart, and actually made them work again!

The company was working on big installation job with a deadline, but still took 3 men off to get us fixed even though we were new customers and they had not installed the shutters originally.
Description of Work: Our large storm shutter spun off the spindle holder and jammed. Frank's crew found the problem, observed that set screws had not been properly placed during a repair (another company) in 2004. They fixed the problem without having to replace anything (except a few screws).

I originally contacted Roll-A-Guard in late 2008 to get an estimate. Sandra came to my house, and we had an excellent discussion about my options. She gave me an estimate, but I was unable to go ahead with the project at that time. Almost a full year later, I was finally able to move forward. When I contacted Roll-A-Guard , they had all of my paperwork still on file, and they were happy to honor the price they had given me in 2008. I was very impressed with how smoothly they were able to pick up where we had left off so many months earlier. Even better, they were able to accommodate my need to rush the installation of the shutters. The two gentlemen that installed the shutters and the door were very friendly and did an excellent job with the installation.

All our questions, and we had many, were promptly answered. The workers helped remove some bolts left from old shutters before doing their own work. Everyone was cooperative. We had to wait for approval from our homeowners group. Roll-a-guard kept us in the pipeline while we were waiting, and agreed they would refund if the installation was not approved. We did have to supply photos to our committee, but there was no problem.
Description of Work: We purchased folding aluminum shutters for our all our windows and doors. Ours is a 1640 square ft. home. We got an estimate from them two years ago, but waited because of the cost. However, this was the company we wanted when the time came to act.

Andy and John came over to repair one of the rolldown shutters that became jammed up because of a large mud dauber nest. They also cleaned, lubed and debugged the other 7 shutters - what a difference it made. The shutters were installed 3 years ago by Roll A Guard and I didn't realize the importance of having them serviced on a regular basis...or what kind of damage mud daubers and other critters do once they get into the shutter mechanism (and the shutters are used daily for sun control and privacy).

Andy helped me go through the various shutter options I had before we agreed to do accordians. Overall he did seven windows plus two larger shutters that completely encircle a back patio room with glass going all around two sides - the shutter also covered the back door. I only bought a rolling cloth for the front door. Andy's crew came out on the day they said they would and completed everything in one day. Everything was cleaned up properly when they left. Overall this was an excellent experience.
