 + -1 moreThe serviceman checked to see if there was a stoppage. He informed me that there was no stoppage and that there was a leak and the additional cost was going to be approxiamately 300.00. I told him to proceed and he performed the work.
Description of Work: There was a leak in the kitchen waste arm. They had to break the wall under the sink and in the garage bathroom.

They arrived within the appointed time, assessed the problem, snaked out the stacks for bath and kitchen, and all is well. The plumber was knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and efficient. Coupon was honored without question. I also received another coupon for future services. Overall, a good experience.
Description of Work: Drain line to the septic tank was snaked - it had become blocked, causing a backup in shower and toilet.

 + 0 moreOn a Sunday my hot water heater gave out and leaked all over my garage. Bill came out promptly and shut the water off to the hot water heater. He returned at 8 AM the following morning with his co-worker Brandon. They worked first to replace the hot water heater and then determined that the water conditioner was not working either. Both needed to be replaced and they did that at the same time (hence the high dollar figure for this job). In addition they replaced a gateway valve with a ball valve on my home's plumbing to turn the water on or off. They did not tack on a Sunday service charge even though Bill was out here on Sunday. They worked from 8 AM until 1:30 PM on Monday and cleaned up all of the water in my garage as well. Bill talked with my insurance company to insure that I could properly file a claim for the damage. They were prompt, courteous and professional and even allowed me to use two coupons from Angie's list because of the two units replaced. I would highly recommend this company for any plumbing needs in the Clearwater area.
Description of Work: Replaced hot water heater and water conditioner with new units. Replaced gateway valve on plumbing with ball valve.

 + -1 moreThe service from start to finish was excellent overall. The first guy said the project would take to long for one visit since he was unable to remove the old valve. The guy who came the next day was able to remove the old valve & install a new one. I was charged for 2 visits & I complained on Angies list. Shortly after posting my complaint, management of the company called & removed the charge for the first visit. Matter settled quickly
Description of Work: Replaced the valve to the shower. Two trips were required & initially I was charged for the extra trip. When I complained to management the charge for the 2nd trip was deleted. Service was excellent & my complaint was immediately resolved. I will use this company again

 + -1 moreAfter contacting the office to quote a large job involving fixing my main sewer line, I received a quick call back to schedule ask appointment. They sent a manager out within a few hours. When he arrived, he gave a good look at the situation and seemed very knowledgeable. However, when asking for a quote, he seemed to want a blank check to start digging and cutting. I told him i would like a quote and he said he would get back to me. Never heard back at all. Disappointed.

Description of Work: I had a minor emergency this morning when the water line to my ice maker broke. Since there was no valve, I had to turn off the water to the house, just to stop the water from continuing to spray all over the kitchen while I found a plumber to come. I called McGill around 9:30-9:45am. I had a plumber here a little after 11 and the whole thing was fixed by 11:30, including a shut off valve in case this should ever happen again. I am a very happy customer. I have used McGill before and always been happy but today was especially noteworthy for the excellent customer service they gave me. They charged me a $95 service call fee and $15 for the part. An extremely good value considering they showed up and fixed the problem in under two hours!

 + 0 moreHave used McGill Plumbing for all plumbing needs now for 25 years. Always excellent service. This particular job was especially challenging, and required matching the color values of the reflected light from the new porcelain wash basin with the old porcelain tub and toilet.. Although all fixtures were a white porcelain, the coloring pigments in contemporary porcelain are not necessarily the same as the pigments in twenty-five year old porcelain, which may result in a slightly different shade of white reflected by the different fixtures. McGill insisted on installing different wash basins until customer was satisfied. Old-school customer service, and much appreciated.
Description of Work: McGill Plumbing replaced an old and chipped porcelain wash basin in guest bathroom.Technician proposed a substantial saving by reusing existing faucet and trap.

 + 0 moreI had water running from my front lawn area, by my water meter. The county told me to call a plumber and I called McGill's. They told me they would send someone out the same day, between 1-4 in the afternoon. I was really worried about the water running so long. Shaun found the problem right away and told me to call the county back because it was their problem. There was no way for him to turn the water off and showed me how to turn the sprinkler's off by the valves,turn the main water off and turn the water off by the street. Thank you so much for all that information. He spent awhile explaining all the reasons why it wasn't my problem and what to look for on the water meter if it was my problem.
Description of Work: Found where the water was leaking from in a matter of minutes.

 + -1 moreIt went well - the plumber was a large amn working in a small place with a small jackhammer but he did the job as quickly as he could considering the circumstances. The original mark for the leak was about 30 inches away from where it ultimately was which meant another 2.5 hours of work to find it which brought up the cost quite a bit.
Description of Work: I had to have a leak under the slab in the kitchen repaired. that entailed removing three feet of concrete to get to the leak which was under a cabinet then replacing a 7 inch section of pipe that had been stepped on during constgruction 46 years ago.

Description of Work: Company removed and replaced the water heater with one I bought within a two hour period. I had drained the heater prior to installation. The charge was high because it was done on Saturday. All work was done within a two hour period. It was lower than the recommended Home Depot Contractor. I believe they made a mistake. Home Depot contractor told me over the phone it was at least 525 dollars. Not sure if this was the week end price. I believe it was not. McGill person indicated I could have had the heator and work done for about 500 dollars. A lesson learned. Must be the price of gas causing the pricing to be high. The plumber wanted to make sure I understood the cost was a minimum of 400 dollars. I suppose they wanted to make sure I understood the cost prior to installation. McGill and the installer was cordial, professional and completed the work in a timely manner and removed the heater promptly the next day. The installer took the initiative to make sure the heater was not that visible from the street. His vehicle did not have room for another heater.

 + 0 moreCompany receiving poor grade due to dishonesty in billing. Prior to selecting a plumber, I was told by receptionist at McGill that snaking a line would cost $155.00 unless work exceeded one hour. Ryan, plumber of McGill, was on the property less than 45 minutes, his arrival and departure times recorded by tenant. I was then charged $232.00. Obviously, Ryan thought that since the owner was not on the property, he could overbill. I called McGill after receiving the bill and the receptionist confirmed that I was to be billed only $155.00 but that Ryan had recorded his time on the property as double the time (1.5 hrs) than he was actually on the property. I commend that the receptionist readily corrected the bill after pulling my invoice, but the fact I had to correct intentional overbilling inexusable. Customers should demand that their invoices record time on property.
