We learned we had a roof leak from our mold company Biosafe. Biosafe recommended Vic Quillen on Angies list. I never heard of Angies list before but my friend used it and looked him up for me. Let me tell you he is the real deal with great work and a great price. His son came out and evaluated the roof and Vic himself Fixed my roof in a jiffy and now all is good. I liked him so much I joined angies and now I'm hooked.

Determined that the leak was caused by A/C line and dryer vent on the roof. Caulked around window. Applied sealer at the roof/wall joint. Waterproofed around A/C line and vent. Leak was 99% gone after initial work. Final 1% done on second visit. Workers were very professional and neat.

My son is a general contractor and was repairing dead wood that attached on one side to my roof/gutter and the other side to my screen porch. He discovered the original gutter/fascia was attached to the roof incorrectly causing the wood fascia to rot. We needed a roofer to re-sheath and roof a wide section. The work was done in a very professional manner at a very reasonable price. I have had no leaking from the gutter as before and am very pleased with the workmanship. This company also did work for me in the past at a very reasonable price (1/2 the estimate of another roofer) and I was extremely pleased.

Workers showed up promptly at 8:30 AM and all work was done and cleaned up by aprox. 2 PM.

I recently bought a house with some broken tiles and slippage of the roof on one side of the building. I was thinking of replacing all broken tiles, which would have cost me a lot of money, and would have increased the possibility of further leaks. But with his professional advise, we agreed to repair (patch) the broken tiles with hard core material to repel leaks. I was really pleased with the work quality and money saving. Thank you Vic

The owner was very nice on the phone, and acted promptly to fix the leak on the roof. The laborers who fixed the leak were excellent , and answered all the questions I had about the roof leak. The estimate and the job was done all in the same day. The company explained everything, and appeared at my home within minutes of my call. Vic sent me the invoice promptly for the same price that was agreed to, and the invoice was paid immediately. I was very impressed with the professionalism, and how nice they were to deal with. I will refer them to others in need of roof repairs, and plan on using them in the future.

Much to my surprise Vic Quillen called me a couple days later and said they had a guy who contracts for them and who could stop by during his lunch hour and fix the shingle for around $20.00. I made the call and the contractor stopped by that week and fixed the shingle. He was on time, polite, friendly, very professional and did the job for $20.00. I was very impressed that this company took the time and made the effort for a minor repair. They could have just brushed me off and forgot about it since they weren't going to make any money. It was a great experience. Now I know who to call if I ever have a problem with my roof. I will be will recommending V.E. Quillen to my friends, co-workers and neighbors.

Other than the smell of all the sealant that they used between the four layers of roof materials, as well as all of the insulation and build up materials to eliminate the ponding. The other benefit of their work is the reduced temps in my garage and fl room due to the added insulation. I wish someone had done this 30 years ago. I will always recommend them highly!

1st, after my neighbor casually asked if I knew that my roof had raccoon damage, which was only visible from 3 houses down due to trees, I went to Angie;s list and contacted the top 2 recommended roofing repair people. V E Quillen responded to my call promptly and made an appointment for the following day. The other responded but would not make an appointment. They were not sure when they would be there. Maybe today? Maybe tomorrow? They would be around for the estimate when they had someone in the area. They ended up coming the next day, but I did hang around all the previous day in case they could come. The next day, V E Quillen's representative arrived promptly at the arranged time for the estimate. He was friendly, polite, and actually helpful above and beyond what was necessary. He went all over the roof, he talked with me and educated me about raccoons and rats (I never knew rats could climb up the inside of gutters to reach the roof!), and when I asked about using his ladder to reach and remove some branches that the association has not tended to and which looked like good raccoon entry points, he actually took my clippers and removed the offenders for me. As I said, above and beyond. I actually didn't think he would let me use the ladder, but I really didn't expect the kindness of him clipping the branches for me. It reminded me of how I grew up. When you knew your neighbors and helped each other. Over the next 2 days, I received estimates from both companies. V E Quillen's was all inclusive. The other estimate was 2.4 times higher and did not include new grating over the 3 vents. I will say that the other company did take and send pictures of the damage as well as recommend that this be dealt with through my insurance, but I don't think that justified the difference in estimates. I accepted the bid from V E Quillen and that evening received a call from Mr Quillen. My repair could be scheduled for the next day. Since I was not scheduled for work that day I was very pleased. The two men were a little late, and I called because people do get lost finding my house as well as the problem of rush hour traffic, but they arrived just as I hung up. Both men were pleasant, quiet, and professional. They promptly set about repairing my roof and, at my request, took pictures of the completed repairs to show me when they were through. All in all it took about 2 hours, the shingles seem to be a good match for the 14 year old shingles already on the roof, and everything was cleaned up before they left. I would not hesitate to use this company again, though I hope I don't need to. I do recommend asking for photos, since it is difficult to get on your roof to see the actual damage or repairs.

I had a really good experience with them. The job got done on time and on budget. I haven't had any problems since they did it. They didn't damage anything while they were up there. If you're looking for a roofer and you don't want to get screwed, go with them.

The owner's son came out to look at the roof and estimate the work required. He was very helpful and took the time to explain what he believed the problem was, and answer questions. The estimate was sent over just a couple days after they came out, as promised. After reviewing estimates from two other highly rated Angie's list companies, we went with VE based mostly on the (much) better price, but the quote sent also went into a little more detail as far as materials to be used for the job which was reassuring. Not sure if this deals particularly with responsiveness, but one (slight) knock is the fact that they called to schedule the job for the next day. Basically after confirming that I was OK with the quote and work to be done, I got a call about a week and a half later without warning asking if tomorrow was OK. I had no issues with that, and I'm sure if I would have need to reschedule it would have been OK with them, but it was just unexpected. On the day of the job two guys came out to do the work and they were on time, and very helpful around lunch time as our 1 year old takes a nap around noon, and so we were able to coordinate schedules so that there wasn't any banging on the roof that would've woken the baby up. They took pictures of the roof (before and after) and showed me while they were at the house. I got a copy of the pictures after they were sent to the owner. Also, I was able to see the parts of the roof that were being worked on from the second floor and they were helpful in answering just a couple of quick questions as they worked. The clean-up went well, although there was some sand in one spot on my lawn which I diluted and washed away with a hose. I would have preferred they keep the excess material on the driveway or in their truck, but it wasn't a problem. Overall I'm very pleased with the service provided and would definitely consider them again in the future.
