Services we offer
Plumbing, water heaters, leak detection with sewer camera, toilet and faucet installation, garbage disposals & home inspections.
I bought a house in June and there were several issues that were not included in the inspection, two of them requiring immediate attention (leaky shower and toilet that would not flush properly). I'm usually unavailable during the day due to work, so my girlfriend had to handle the bulk of the correspondence with Ryan plumbing. Before covering anything else, let me say that Ryan cares about punctuality. His technician, Ted, injured his knee that morning and needed some time to ice his knee, so Ryan called first to make sure that this was okay. Once Ted arrived, he quickly fixed the leaky shower. He then spent close to two hours (including several breaks to stretch and scratch his head) working on the toilet. He replaced every part inside it and called it fixed. We had a replacement set of innards for it, but he told us that it was poor quality when he (personally) had installed the same exact brand in a toilet in my girlfriend's condo last fall. I let that one go. Ted then turned on the water to the ice maker - he indicated that this might leak, since it went through an old RO unit. A few hours later, it did spring a pretty good leak, but a friend of mine gave me a hand bypassing it completely, so it was no big deal. Ted then installed a PVC pipe for the hot water heater's vent. All told, the cost was $403, before the coupon for Angie's List customers, and $378 afterwards. About $60 in parts, plus 45 minutes of labor, went towards the shower, ice maker, and hot water heater. The rest of the bill was for the toilet. Which still has exactly the same problem as before. You might need to flush it 5 or 6 times to clear the bowl and, at other times, it might go the first time. Afterwards, it took Ted more than 15 minutes to put away a 5 gallon bucket of tools and to fill out my invoice. When I pointed out that he was charging me for this, he said it would be the same thing as if he had to carry tools down from a condo and so on. Part of his "tool carrying" was sitting in his van for 5 minutes after he backed it up my 30 foot driveway to get it closer to his bucket of tools. I understand, the guy had a bum knee and he gets paid by the hour. Just be aware that if you get Ted, he will pad the time he "works" for you. And, again, no biggie on the ice maker. And, again, the shower andhot water heater work was perfect. When my girlfriend called back about the toilet, Ryan said some curious things. First, he asked her to have the invoice on hand so he could go over it with her. I guess Ted didn't turn in the original for him to look at? Also, he said the toilet might need to be snaked. Or, it could have stalactites. Okay, he's right. Maybe it has stalactites. Maybe I should have called a spelunker instead of a plumber. Today, my girlfriend called him back, with the invoice and covered it line by line. We were given a number of options. None of them involved having somebody come out and take care of the problem we spent a lot of money on. Instead, we3had an offer of spending another $140, to have somebody take it down and look at it, or to spend far more and have a new toilet put in. She pointed out that we could have bought a new toilet for the amount we had already paid. He said something about how nice it would be to have foresight. Maybe I should have called a psychic instead of a plumber. I expected to have the toilet fixed for the amount of money I spent, not just to have shiny parts added. My primary complaint with Ryan's plumbing is that I dropped around $250 bucks on the toilet part of this job and I have the same exact problem that I had before.

Response from Ryan Plumbing
The customer hired us to install all new toilet insides and a few other items. Member told me that he had the toilet parts already. We did the job. Days later they called to say the toilet does not flush good. I explained that the toilet has new insides and if its not flushing solids down consistently then their must be either something lodged inside the toilet or possibly the toilet could have stalactites (which is rare) It is standard practice for us to flush the toilet many times including with toilet paper to insure the toilet is flushing. We do guarantee the work we do, but of course cannot guarantee other items in which we did not do. I explained this to the customer and gave options on how to save money to resolve the toilet issue. In speaking to the customer twice, not once did they tell me about any disappointment about any other items or services we provided. If the parts that we installed did not work properly, we would gladly repair, but this is not the case. I do understand that the customer is disappointed that they spent money on a toilet and it has issues again. But the issues are not related to the work or parts that were installed by us. I guess I could of avoided this poor review by going to the house and pulling the toilet to clear debris for free and if the toilet had stalactites then I guess I could have gave the customer a new toilet also. Where would it end? The homeowner did say that if I (Ryan) were there, I would have suggested to replace the toilet prior to installing new parts and that is not true. We repair toilets ever day, even old ones. To respond to the accusations, as for the toilet part that we said that is not as good as ours, we use a Pro Series of Fluid Master. The brand is the same but the quality is different then the one Home Depot carries. And we did not install the other version in the girlfriends house. Also the toilet rebuild took approximately 1 hour. (We could not shut down the water system to a house, remove a shower handle and plate, then remove and install a new internal cartridge, then turn back water to house, check for leaks, re install shower plate and handle, then energize ice line and check for leaks, then in garage, run a 3/4" relief drain from the heater to the slab and over to side in 45 minutes.) As for moving the truck up the driveway, when my employee got to job there was another truck in driveway. Once the truck left , we moved closer to house. The job is not complete until the tools and supplies the plumber uses are put away. I guess one of the negatives of working by the hour is we cant scratch our head or stretch our legs while on the clock.

I had a back up in my shower on Sunday. I called Ryan's Plumbing and left a message and received a call back shortly after. Ryan gave me an approximate price and said he'd have some one out first thing the next morning. The plumber was prompt, courteous, efficient and solved our problem. I was extremely happy with the service and the price was right. I would not hesitate to recommend this company and I've already told friends about the experience.

Very quick response time. Did a great job. Gave good advice. Will use again.
Description of Work: Ryan responded quickly. Replaced the main on/off valve to the mobile home. This valve was intentionally broken by an evicted tenant. Ryan gave me advice about how to go about my checking sewer and other plumbing system myself to save me money. That advice, I am really glad for, from a professional person.

WE HAVE LIVED IN OUR CONDO FOR 12 YEARS AND NEVER NEEDED A PLUMPER. USUALLY MY HUSBAND CAN FIX MOST THINGS. HE THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO HAVE TO SOTTER THE ON AND OFF WATER VALVE TO THE TOILET. SOMETHING HE DID'NT WANT TO DO AND FELT WE SHOULD CALL A PLUMBER. NOT KNOWING ANY, WE WENT TO ANGIE'S LIST, AND BECAME A MEMBER AND READ THE REVIEWS. THANKFULLY THERE WAS A LOCAL (RYAN PLUMBING). MY HUSBAND CALLED YESTERDAY AND TED CAME OUT THIS AFTERNOON. WOW, EVERYTHING WENT WELL, HE WAS DONE IN AN HOUR!
Description of Work: REPLACED ON AND OFF WATER VALVE AND HOSE ON BOTH OF OUR TOILETS. REPLACED FLAPPER AND TIGHTENED ALL.

Was very happy with Ryan and the work he did! We had a leak in our water heater and he was one of the plumbers I contacted. He was very professional and friendly. While on the phone, he made sure to ask questions so that he, and I, understood what the problems could be. He wasn't rushing to get off the phone and was very helpful. He arrived around the time he stated and again was very professional. He encountered some difficulties while working on the heater (our model isn't so great, which made it a bit more difficult), yet he continued trying to fix the problem and accomplish it flawlessly! We thought that we might have to replace the entire water heater but he was able to fix the individual problem so that we could still use the one we currently have. He is not out to take you for everything and just wants to make sure that the job is done properly. Would definitely call him again and recommend him to friends and family! One of the easiest experiences I have had working with someone!

It went fabulously well. Problem solved.
Description of Work: Ryan answered my call and we used text messaging to send a photo of the problem. He was able to figure out that it was rather tricky. He was VERY responsive and was able to come over within 2 hours which was great as we had to turn off the water to the house. He diagnosed the situation and gave us options! (amazing!) He also realized the urgency of getting the water turned back on again and was able to figure out a workaround so we did not have to deal with a crazy costly repair and just get back to our normal lives. (this was for a pool filler so now we will fill it with a hose.) Great service.Knows his stuff.Responsible and reliable and will definitely hire again. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

I was very happy with them. The labor cost wise wasn't too bad and the material he charged me for was reasonable. The material and labor and everything was very satisfactory. They were very great. They had to cut a piece of cast iron with a saw and I don't have one. A plumber is never cheap, but he is about as reasonable as they come. He showed up on time, did a good job and the pricing and everything was very satisfactory. He got in and got out and everything works. He hooked up the plumbing and ran the water and no leaks. You can't do any better than that. I have neighbors who had another plumbing guy show up. I am pretty satisfied with what I saw and his work. In fact, I gave the women across the street his card.

We were quoted $250 for a standard installation. The plumber showed up promptly the next morning. After a few hours of work, the plumber informed me that because of the complexity of the work, the job would be converted to a straight parts-&-labor job: $150 + $90/hr + parts. This was agreeable to me and came out to just over $400, minus the $25 first-time Angie's List coupon came to $393. For the amount and quality of the work done, I consider this reasonable and we are really happy with the result.
Description of Work: We had an existing electric hot-water heater removed and a GE GeoSpring (hybrid) heater we had bought installed. The work involved cutting out the old heater and much of the old plumbing, installing new cut-off valves and plumbing, and installing the new heater according to the manufacturer's specs. The quote and work did not include removal of the old heater but luckily our local solid-waste authority collected it at no additional cost to us the next day.

We are extremely pleased with the professionalism of Ryan and Mike, too. We had not been thrilled with our regular plumber, but we called that company anyway, and left a message that was returned 45 minutes later. In the meantime, we called 3 other plumbers in order of placement listing on Angie's List. We waited half an hour, and no one called us back, so we called Ryan. He answered the phone right away, and came over right away. As of 2 hours later, only one of the 3 returned the call. Thank you, Ryan and Mike. We were beginning to panic, but you set everything right. PS We hope that other people in a situation like ours do not judge a company by placement on the page... sometimes the best company is further down!
Description of Work: We needed immediate emergency service on a Saturday to fix a bathtub faucet that would not shut off. Ryan came right away and explained in detail what was wrong with the previous installation, something we had suspected. Not only was the faucet not turning off, but water was leaking into the wall behind the tub. Ryan repaired the faucet, and examined the room behind the bathroom, where we saw water that had leaked through. Ryan recommended that we get an evaluation from Mike from Sunshine State water removal to check the walls further. Mike arrived and inspected the area and found no moisture that could become a problem, mostly because our walls are plaster, and they would dry easily. Mike charged us nothing.

He never replaced the new part, he forgot to order the part so never came and replaced it. He charged me for coming out and for the hour that he was here. I paid him for coming out to see the problem, I called him to do follow up regarding the replacement and he never returned my call. When I finally got ahold of him, he didn't remember doing the job and said he had forgotten to order the parts needed. He didn't do the job that he stated in his invoice. UPDATE: In response to the company, I have been a school teacher for 28 years and I have a masters degree so I speak excellent English. I might have an accent but I speak excellent English.

Response from Ryan Plumbing
unfortunately member does not speak good english. I told her that she needs to call the manufacturer or where she bought the faucet and once she got the part I could fix it. I even send a picture of the . to where she bought it from so they could help her. she then called me 3 months later asking about it and I didn't remember her at first. then tried to explain to her what I originally told her. at this point is when she said you said she said you said. like I told her then, I don't know who the manufacturer is. she will need to contact the company that she bought it from the figure out what brand it is so we can order the part. I will be happy to fix it once you have the parts.

As always, Ryan Plumbing was professional, on time, fastidious, and it was fixed right the first time. I have white ceramic tile, and it was a messy job, but before he left he cleaned everything up perfectly, you wouldn't know there was a big messy job that took place in there. 4 months later, it's still perfectly stable. We're repeat customers, my parents have had great experiences, and so have my neighbors. I highly recommend Ryan Plumbing.

Ryan Plumbing provided excellent service, advice, installation, and price. We definitely recommend this company.
Description of Work: We wanted to replace two very old, but still functioning, hot water heaters. I initially called asking if Ryan Plumbing sold Rheem products, since that was what we currently had and was still working after 23 years! Ryan explained that he did, but would recommend to replace with a different brand, Bradford White, because of their excellent consumer rating. After doing my own research, I agreed with his recommendation, and called to schedule the installation. Ryan ordered the new water heaters and they were delivered in the morning- he arrived around 12:30 to remove the old and install the new ones. Although one appeared to be tricky because of the position in a utility closet, Ryan was able to single-handedly remove and replace both units without incident. It is a good thing he is a big, strong guy! We now have two new hot water heaters with the peace of mind that we won't come home to a leaky mess one day AND the peace of mind that we have found a qualified, honest plumber that we can call when we need one. It was a pleasure doing business with Ryan Plumbing.
