Description of Work: We had a leaky toilet that was left for about a month. There was extensive flooding in the bathroom. He changed out the leaky line and recommended a clean up service.

+ -1 moreRyan's partner arrived on time, calling when he was 15 minutes. I was initially put off that he entered my house wearing dirty work boots. I explained the problem and the history of the two toilets. He performed tests to determine that the problem was not with the main drain. He explained what he was doing and why, which I found very positive. The auger-snake he used looked rusted, so I was not happy when he leaned it against the wallpaper after it had been submerged in the toilet. Perhaps he could have some kind of case to put the snake in. He worked methodically and I was pleased with the result, especially as he tried several times to get a good water fill, asking me all along if I was satisfied. He suggested, as I did putting in a new flapper, which cost $10.00. The $150.00 included a $45.00 charge. I thought this was excessive. The plumber was in my house for approximately one hour, so the $105.00 for the labor and the flapper, seemed reasonable to me.

+ 0 moreCalled Ryan to come by and take a look at a leak in my water heater. He gave me a quote. Called a few days later to ask him to come and do the work. He arrived the very next day and installed a new 50 gal heater. Even though the installation had a few snags ( brand new heater had a leak), Ryan was professional and although he spent double the time he quoted, the job was completed successfully at no addtional charge.

One thing that was a little unusual was that because the plumber had to use a reciprocating saw and his old blade had to be replaced, the job cost $163 instead of $150. The idea that he had to put on a new blade on his saw was enough reason to charge me a little more for the job than what was expected. Since it was a holiday and I didn't mind paying the difference in price. I didn't even say anything about the price. But saying you need to charge me more to use the tools and replace a blade. It would have been better to say the work was a little longer or harder and you have to charge a little more. The work was a little less than one hour and it was a holiday so overall, it worked out ok. I am happy with the service so that is that I will remember most. Overall, I am very happy with my experience. During the visit, I also found out that my main water supply line valve which is supplied by the city needs replacement. I was a appreciative of the tech who came out who was a very nice and professional guy. In the future, I will be calling Ryan Plumbing again as I move into a new home which needs work as well.
Description of Work: I had a valve for a water hose on the side of my house go bad. The water would constantly run from the faucet when the valve turned off. As a do it yourself kind of guy, I went to Home Depot and bought portable torch to be able to remove the valve. After heating the valve so hot (it was glowing red), I still couldn't get the thing off. After a few attempts and three drives to HD, it was time to go to Angie's List. On 1/21 (MLK day, a national holiday), I called Ryan Plumbing for the first time. Ryan the owner, answered me on the call and informed me the price would be $150. It was about 1pm at the time and the water in my house shut off frommy valve repair. Ryan assured me they would be out there by 5pm. AT 3:45 pm I had a call, they were 35 minutes away. At 4pm, the tech arrived, a nice guy, very knowledgeable. I was informed on site that because a slight drip of water was coming out of the drain, that it would not be possible to take the valve off until the water stopped. The plumber cut the valve with a saw to gain access to the copper pipe. This is where the expertise comes in. The plumber had a specialty tool which I had never seen but now I know how important it is. He then inserted a little ball that was a attached to a metal rod that when the handle squeezed, would block the water flow completely in the pipe. Once the water was completely sealed, then he applied the torch and took the fitting off. That single tool which I had not seen before was the difference between getting the valve off and the job done. The plumber explained that without that tool to stop the water from coming out from within the pipe, he couldn't get the valve of either. This was a great experience because I learned about that tool and that my efforts were not lost. I didn't fel so bad knowing the plumber would have been in the same spot as me had he not had that tool.

+ 0 moreContacted Ryan Plumbing based on the over all favorable reviews at 8:30am 20Dec12. After discussing the size,and make I was given a time of 11:30 am and the cost to complete including removal of the old water heater. I received a call at 11:20 from Ted that he would be about 20 minutes late. Ted arrived at 11:50 and completed the work at 1:30. Ted was efficient,responsive to all questions and cleaned up after the job was done. Ted and Ryan plumbing gave me back one of life's luxuries(hot water) before I knew it. All in all from being aggravated at 8:30 am to showering at 2:00 pm I was very thankful to Ted and Ryan Plumbing..

+ -1 moreI called Monday morning and Ryan had someone here the next morning. They said it shouldn't take more than an hour, and it didn't. The plumber did a good job soldering the pipe into the existing wall pipe and making it all look good as new.
Description of Work: Replaced bathroom sink drain pipe that had rotted, something we thought we could do on our own, but it turns out the new pipe parts don't work well with existing 60-year-old parts.

The plumber fixed the leak under my sink in about 15 minutes and was gracious about using the rest of the hour that I'd be paying for by fixing other minor problems I was living with in my second bathroom (the shower knobs leaked as did the shower head - he fixed them all). As far as service goes, I don't think they could be topped. The only negative I have their $45 call fee was not applied to the service cost, as it is with most plumbing companies. I knew this ahead of time and I knew the $80/hour charge and accepted it because of the responsiveness, but I think that's steep.
Description of Work: I had a leak under the sink in my main bathroom. Because the leak came from the joint close to the wall, I didn't want to try to fix it myself. Since the plumber fixed the leak in only 15 minutes or so, he also fixed some minor leaks in my second bathroom's shower. The knobs were leaking as was the shower head. He fixed them all.

The service was excellent, the turn around was excellent and he even took my old hot water heater away for me for no extra charge. Hopefully I won't have any more major plumbing issues for awhile, but if I do, I know I can count on Ryan Plumbing.
Description of Work: I found Ryan Plumbing on Angie's List and based on the reviews decided I would call. He answered right away and I explained my problem. He told me I probably needed a brand new water heater (we were having a leak). He came right over (within 30 minutes) and looked at it. Tried to figure out a way to make it so I didn't need a new one but said the water heater is so old (about 30 years) it will probably be better to replace it now before something worse happens. I appreciated his honesty so I said go for it. Not only did he go out and buy the new water heater and install it all within a few hours, he also re-ran some pipes that were ran wrong to begin with.

+ -1 moreAfter putting in the sink, I had trouble with the plumbing for the faucet. That was on Sunday. On Monday morning I called Ryan Plumbing and left a message. I received a phone call back and an appointment was set for between 12-1pm. Ryan called to tell me he was running late, and I appreciated the call. He said he would be at my house at 3pm, and he was. I explained my issue. He made sure he had all the parts neeed and gave me a price. One hour later he was done. Ryan did a great job. He was punctual, professional and honest, three qualities that are hard to find these days. I would definitely use him again and would refer him without hesitation.
Description of Work: I installed a new kitchen sink and faucet and needed help with the plumbing.

Description of Work: All I can say, is the gentleman I spoke to today, was more than helpful. I dropped my toilet paper holder down the toilet as I was flushing it, (stupid, I know), but when I called Ryan Plumbing, he suggested I purchase a WetVac for about $30.00. (We got a slightly larger one for $49.00) He said that it works about 50% of the time, and low and behold, that thing came out in about 3 seconds!! We are so grateful and will call him for sure if we ever need a plumber in the future. He saved us about $150.00 or moreI. We've told everyone today about how wonderful he was. + 1 moreFast, efficient and he knows what he is doing. He even helped me with the Water department who did not want to fix their own equipment. With his advice I spoke to a Supervisor and they fixed it the next day after telling me 5 times it was my problem. I can't thank him enough for his assistance.
Description of Work: Ryan removed a broken PVC fitting that I had been trying to get out for several days. It took him about 15 minutes to fix it. It was the main line on the meter so I had no water in the house. I used him another time a few months ago to clear a drain. The drain was installed wrong when the house was built so he took some siding off and put in the correct "Y" fitting and cleared the drain in about 20 minutes. He explained in advance the cost, what might happen after he tried a few things and he suspected what the problem was and he was correct. He charged me exactly what he quoted even though I did not get a written quote. He and his staff are very professional, helpful, respectful and left everything clean and you could not even tell they had been there. He is now my lifelong plumber, I would not think about calling another plumber.

Ryan said he was quite busy and that his worker had the day off today but that he (Ryan) would call me back in about an hour if he was able to come and take a look. He asked me a few questions as to what the problem was. He did exactly that and then gave me a 2 hour window in which he would come. He came, he fixed the problem without a hitch. I experienced courteous and professional service and would not hesitate to call him in the future for any plumbing repairs that I may need. I also liked that he took AmericanExpress for payment.
Description of Work: Had a new cartridge installed into the bathtub faucet to stop the leaking.

When I said no, he said he could very likely repair it for under $ 200 - when he could have charged me over $ 600 for a new insallation. + -1 moreWe had no hot water flow and low pressure in a rental apartment. I called Ryan from Ryan Plumbing. Ryan was prompt and knowledgeable and felt that it was a hot water heater issue. I had a feeling it was not that easy. He came and reviewed the issue and felt that it could be the flow coming into the third floor apartment from the supply. He didn't charge for this visit. I contacted the lease company and they came and changed the flow valve coming into the apartment.Unfortunately, this did nothing to fix my issue! In all his 21 years of experience he had never seen an issue like my apartment!! I felt very special!!Ryan and I discussed the next step. We needed to replace the entire piping system! Ouch! The job was done and completed in a couple of days and now we have brilliant flow to both hot and cold taps.Ryan was a pleasure to deal with. He was very patient and explained the steps.I will certainly use Ryan Plumbing again for my other rental and my own home and I would recommend him to any one who needs a great plumber.....
