Description of Work: I have an annual contract. They are maintaining my heating and air system. They come twice a year.

Description of Work: Our A/C unit stopped cooling the house. The unit was running, but no cool air from the vents. My husband found the filter had crumpled and slipped out of place, and the resulting debris in the intake caused the coils to freeze. He spoke to a Snyder service rep, who told him to turn off the A/C and just run the fan to melt the ice, because they could not do anything while the coils were frozen. The fan blowing over the ice helped cool the house a bit. When the technician arrived 3 hours later, he checked the inside and outside units and checked for leaks. He recharged the freon, and charged us $125 for 2 lbs. In about 90 minutes, we had a functional A/C. Then, he told us that the entire system had gotten water into it and would need to be replaced. He showed my husband that the freon had a chartreuse color, which meant it was "full of acid from a reaction with the water." He said we could limp through the weekend with his repair, and get a new A/C on Monday. Really? We bought the house 8 months ago, and the A/C unit was 2 years old at that time. Total charge = $250. So we contacted our Home Warranty company, and they sent someone out from Total Air Care (another $75, ouch). He checked for leaks, checked the whole system, and looked at the freon color. He said the bright green color was the result of a dye someone had used during an old-style leak test, and any acid would make it dark or dinghy green. He said the dirt on the coils from the displaced filter would cause the freezing, etc., but that the system seemed fine. He mentioned that frozen coils aren't a problem for HVAC techs ("just turn the heat on for 15 min"). He also said Total Air Care charges $25/lb for freon, and we confirmed that with their office. Ten days later, the A/C is still working fine.

Description of Work: had them come out for two items- replacement aprilaire &trane air filters and to check why one of my new units (recently installed by them) isn't keeping up with heating or cooling. guy shows up 30 minutes late for first appointment of the day. says he doesn't have any filters. says that they don't have that info on file. goes in attic to check status of filters. I follow behind. I can't keep up he goes ahead around corner. I stop because I don't have flashlight. he says "filter looks great". I race ahead in the dark bc it hasn't been changed in a year and I know he's lying. I round corner and see he's 10 feet from unit. never checked. I make him check and he says "really dirty must be replaced". he says that he's writing down replacement filter model numbers. tells me to order off Internet and they'll come&replace- if I sign up for >$300 service plan. I decline. order filters. they arrived don't fit either unit. he didnt even write down correct numbers. charged me $100 for nothing!
