We had used Paradise Pools earlier to replace a failed pool pump with a high end variable speed pump. We later had a flow sensor replaced. We decided to sign up for the monthly "gold" service so we could learn more about our pool and how to take care of it. The pool guy who came out was not very talkative and seemed unable to explain to my wife what he was doing and how to do it. For example stated he could not vacuum out the pool because there was no way to do it (but we have the hoses in the garage). After one time he came out, he did his regular service but shortly after he left we got a low salt alarm. We had torrential rain which continue to lower the salt (as expected) and then we started getting another alarm on our system as the salt dropped below 2100. We called Rick (the owner) and he would usually call back a couple of days later. This (I presume) was because he was covered up with calls from all the rain. He told my wife that it was no big deal that they would shock the pool and get it back on track and that he had told the pool maintenance guy not to put salt in the pools because it would just get washed out by the rain. We went a week with the alarm on our pool and we were beginning to think something else was going on because there was another "High Salt/Amp) alarm as well as the low salt alarm. I traded voice mails with Rick a couple of times and before he finally got a hold of me the following Tuesday. I told him my concerns that about the pool and that the maintenance guy did not seem knowledgeable. He stated that the guy was not the most communicative and was probably confused by the complexity of our pool set up. I also told him about him not vacuuming or cleaning scales as is described in his "gold" service plan and he stated that the pool had been in a state of disrepair for a couple years and that they can't be expected to correct these conditions overnight (even though we had been using them for about six weeks). I told him it was important to set expectations up front. We signed up for a service and part of the service was not getting completed per our expectations. I also told him that I came home Monday and found a tag that my pool had been serviced but my pool still was in an alarm condition. I told him nothing was written on the tag so I didn't know what was actually done for the service but that pool was still in alarm. Rick told me what had been done and stated that they don't write the work that was done on the tag but would be happy to do it for me. I told him that I shouldn't have to call the owner to find out what was done to my pool--especially when it is still in alarm. He stated that the pool maintenance guy said there was not alarms when he left. I started to get a bit annoyed because I felt like I was being treated like some sort of high maintenance customer. I reiterated some of my concerns with him and he stated that he had talked to my wife about these same concerns and stated that I was a bit more on point in understanding the issues and that perhaps he should deal directly with me instead of my wife. At that point, I told him that I would like to discontinue the service. I did not appreciate the insinuation that my wife was somehow clueless about the pool service or unable to properly articulate our concerns. I told him I thought he had more work than he could properly service and that I would look for another pool company. Rick was disappointed and but stated that he wouldn't charge me for the last service. ***UPDATE*** 7/15 I am changing my quality score for the pool maintenance to an F for paradise pools. I had a new pool maintenance company come out and inspect my system. He found that my strainers and cartridge filter had not even been touch by the so called "gold" pool maintenance. The new guy also showed me how to vacuum my pool which demonstrates the other guy was dishonest in saying that our pool system did not have a vacuum or had no clue. Either way, I would never use these folks for pool maintenance because (in my case) I didn't even get the service I was paying for.

Just prior to the July 4th holiday, just after a tropical storm with 11"+ of torrential rain, my pool pump (apprx 4 yrs old) would start but would shut down five seconds later. I surveyed Angie's List and chose Paradise Pool Service to call, hoping to get my problem solved and my system running normal, purging some excess water then filtering the remaining post-storm pool water the weekend before Independence Day. Initial contact brought a return call from Rick Schmitz, the owner of Paradise Pool Service. Rick worked me into their busy schedule and my problem was taken care of quickly and effectively.I was very satisfied with the level of customer interaction as well as the straight forward application of knowledge and skill. Paradise came prepared and had all that was needed to finish the specific job - did not push "extras". I highly reccommend -

Our pump died over the weekend. We called and they had someone out the next day to replace it. Very thorough and the installer spent a lot of time with us telling us about our pool and gave us his cell phone number in case we had any questions. A little bit more expensive than others but they were very professional and accommodating. We will continue to use them and will be using them for monthly service for our pool.

I knew there was something wrong with the Ozonater and there was dirt collecting in one spot on the side of the pool, so there was something wrong with the in-floor cleaning system. I found Paradise Pool Service on Angie?s list and called them on Monday afternoon and left a message. I received a return call late in the afternoon. The owner was very easy to talk with. I explained that my husband had surgery and that he usually handled all the pool equipment. He said he would have his technician call me on Tuesday and set up an appointment. The technician called on Tuesday and we set up the appointment for first thing on Wednesday morning. He was not an expert on troubleshooting Ozonators, but he called the manufacturer while he was here and with the technician on the line they determined the problem and he adjusted the system. Then he explained to me how it worked to me so that I understood what to do if it happens again. He also determined that the filter was not being cleaned properly. (It had been cleaned about four days before he came.) He cleaned the filter and showed me a $6 nozzle you can get at a hardware store that makes a dramatic improvement in how clean the filter comes out. He determined that one of the nozzles in the pool floor was stripped. It was popping up as it should but not rotating. He suggested I contact the manufacturer because this part would have lifetime warranty to the original owner. When I called the manufacturer I found out he was right. If I had bought the part it would have cost me $100. Instead I only had to pay the shipping, which is not much, it is a small part. He also noted that we had some algae on the wall of the pool. I told him this has been a repeat problem. He suggested I get the water tested and to request that the phosphate level be checked. He gave me a lot of information that was really helpful to me. The technician arrived on time. He was here for two hours. He went over everything with me. Before he left I had a diagram so that I understood how the system works. He gave me several other suggestions that were very helpful for maintaining the equipment. In fact, I was able to clean the filter myself several days later. He charged me for a service call which was less than the $100 he saved me on the part. This next time I need pool service, I will call Paradise Pool Service.

I contacted Paradise Pools for an estimate for new pool decking, some concrete work and additional screening around my existing pool. Rick Schmidt came to our house twice to review the project with us and provided us with an estimate. He was very professional and had some good suggestions for maximizing our project. Unfortunately, we went with our other contractor primarily based on the type of restoration he could provide for our pool decking, and partially on cost. Overall though I was very pleased with our contact with Paradise Pools and would highly recommend them for your pool projects. They had many good references and a high rating on Angie's list. I wouldn't hesitate to contact them again.

Diagnosed my pool pump.Fixed the problem without overselling new equipment.Friendly, knowledgeable, recommended sand replacement in filter but pointed out up front that there could be a problem as they no longer make the model i have i.e if they run into a problem requiring replacement parts..In the end system worked better than it ever has !

they clean my pool every thursday, and they are always on time

Pool water was pooring out of the side of the pool heater (Propane) and without knowing what the problem was but understanding we had a weekend pool party comming up, they stated they would at least bypass the heater so we could run the filter until they could get parts in to repair the heater. They came out the next day, the problem turned out to be nominal, and the technician put in a temporary plug which allowed us to maintain the pool condition. The part came in a couple of days later and they promptly repaired the heater. Very professional and positive service experience.

Overall went very well. They came out to the house and gave me an estimate. Then when I phoned them the following week he said one of his employees had quit and he would be delayed a coupe of weeks. No problem as I was not in a rush. He called me back two weeks later, I partially emptied my pool and the work was done professionally and without an issue. I had several questions afterward and they came back out to the house and called me and addressed my concerns, again without an issue. I would recommend them!

Our experience went fine overall. The pool had not been working for a few months. They had to clean out the pool as well because I was going out of town. I would recommend them. They did good work. I was happy with them.

Perfectly. Called Rick because the pool pump would not come on, although I could hear it trying. He came the next morning and showed me the problem. Rick likes for his customers to see and understand the problem. He immediately ordered the necessary parts and replaced them the next day. I had 5 kids over the spring holidays waiting to use the pool and he saved the day!!
