+ -1 moreThe tech, Miguel Pandich, was far and away one of the best I have met. Patient and clear. Also took time to tell me some other maintenance tips for the primary heat/AC unit in our home. As na result of our conversation, I called this morning and signed up for an annual agreement with McGowan's.
Description of Work: I needed assistance in learning how to program a small heat/air unit that had been installed in my home before we moved in. The tech, Miguel Pandich, was far and away one of the best I have met. Patient and clear. Also took time to tell me some other maintenance tips for the primary heat/AC unit in our home.

+ -1 moreThey were the original installer of my unit and I have used them for all service. I called Wednesday evening when my A/C unit failed. I got a nice person on the phone who said their service personnel were booked up that evening but they would call me the next morning to schedule service. I never received a call, so I called again at around 10 am. I was put on hold, with a receptionist coming back in periodically to say hold on. Finally, the phone started ringing and I thought I was going to make some progress. However, instead, it was a recording saying their service department was busy and to leave a message and they would return my call. I'm still waiting for that call back. I had to find help elsewhere. McGowan has always been exceptional in their service, but they really have fallen down on service this time.

+ -1 moreA/C was broken. It was a busy time of year for A/C companies, and I could not get in touch with the company I usually used. Called these guys, and someone was able to come out within a few hours. They reparied it, and I was so pleased with their service that I purchased a service contract: A/C cleaning every 6 months. Obviously, I would use them again. Very courteous and professional. Willing to go the extra mile.

+ -1 moreCheck to see if the price is cheaper for coming during regular business hours. It was very, very hot and I was not willing to wait. It may be cheaper.
Description of Work: I just got back from Vacation on Sunday and realized that my air conditioning system was not working. The temperature at that time was 98 degrees! I called and immediately got a phone operator who promised me a repairman would call me back within the hour. In less than an hour a repairman called. He was professional and polite. He explained that he had two other customers ahead of me. He gave me a time estimate of when he could arrive at my house. He also let me know up front what the service charge would be for coming over to my house for an evaluation and estimate. The repairman callled ahead of the estimated time and arrived 30 minutes earlier. He quickly looked at my equipment and gave me an estimate. The repair was made within 30 minutes on a hot SUNDAY. He also shared some advice on maintenance and timeframe for new equipment. The price was a bit high, but I was thankful that he was able to provide quick service on a hot Sunday.

+ -1 moreMy parents did business with them in the 80’s. They were very good which is one reason that I went back to them. He was timely; it took a little less time than he said it would. He was professional, he put on little booties so that he wouldn’t track up the carpet, and he always rang the doorbell instead of just coming in and out. I didn't compare their price to anyone, but it was about what I was expecting.

He was extremely knowledgeable and provided valuable hints on monhly maintenance to ensure smooth running of the system. (e.g., dump clorine on the drain pipe to prevent back-up, regular filter replacement, etc.)We have been using McGowan since 1994. For this visit, the technician was a little bit late due to unforeseen issues with previous appointment.
Description of Work: Renewed our HVAC maintenance contract and had maintenance performed. We get two services per year for the $150.

I do not whether it’s my unit’s problem or it’s MC Gowan’s. Always in the past I have been very satisfied with their service and their servicemen were very pleasant and informative. They always come when they say they would come.
Description of Work: I used MC Gowan's Heating & AC for heating and A/c. They had installed the heating and air conditioning unit in my house and they also had come several times to service it. The last time they were out to service was in May this year.

They are dependable. We’ve been with them for probably twenty five years. We will use their services again in the future.

+ -1 moreThey could have improved a little bit with follow up on the unit. Besides that we negotiated the price a little bit so we were able to do that. The gentleman came out was very informative, my husband is an engineer and likes details. We were quite happy with them. We had 3 companies come out and of the 3 they called us back wanting to know if we wanted more information at the beginning. At the end there was a little bit of paper work that needed to be turned in for some things and they were a little bit hesitant on that but not much.

+ -1 moreHe arrived on time and was a real nice man. He was very thorough and neat in his work, leaving no mess behind when he was finished. The air seems much better now. I would refer him to a friend as reliable and a hard worker.
Description of Work: Mc Gowan's cleaned the air ducts in my 1700 square foot house. They brushed them out then vacuumed up the debris.

+ -1 moreI called for service on Friday evening at 7:30 pm and was told to "open my windows" that it was cool outside. It was 83 degrees. They sent someone on Saturday morning after four more phone calls. There was nothing to be done except to push a plug in the socket that was not completely in, and they charged $41 for service and $99 for service call. The service supervisor was very rude and I called and wrote the owner and he returned the $41 since he agreed I shouldn't have been charged for that but did not respond regarding the service call charge. Since they did not help me on Friday night and I was treated rudely, I felt I should have an apology as well as a total refund.
