Matthew was dispatched to repair the problem. Once he felt sure he found the location of the slab leak, he assisted us in clearing out the bedroom as necessary and pulling up the carpet. The he went to work with the jackhammer on the concrete slab. Once he cleared and exposed the copper pipe underground, the leak was visually verified and evident spewing from a 1/8 inch hole in the copper pipe. I might add we normally use about 140 gallons of water a day, but with the slab leak it rose to over 2000 gallons a day with no concern or notification by JEA until the monthly statement arrived. That is when I noticed a very high statement and nearly half was due to water usage which is not the norm. After that leak was properly repaired, Matthew said it appears there is another leak somewhere in the slab. After investigating, another leak was detected about 40 feet away in the dining area, under a tile floor. Matt dug that area up and made a proper repair and no more leaks were evident. It's been nearly 2 weeks now and, so far, all is well. If any slab leaks are detected in the future we will be making a call to David Gray Plumbing for another professional visit and this time it will be to re-pipe the house.
Description of Work: I had a slab leak that required leak detection first of all. Matthew, was dispatched to repair the problem. The first leak was in a bedroom under a carpeted floor. After the repair it was determined there was a second leak in the dining area under a tile floor. Matt repaired that as well. Both repairs required jackhammering the concrete slab and digging to expose the copper tubing used in many homes up through the early 90s. The holes in the concrete slab were refilled and 'concrete patched' as required.

I'm helping a friend remodel his circa 1960 era condo. I called David Gray around 0800 and they had a guy our at 0930. He spent a little over two hours sorting out where the clog was in the pvc. Snaked the pipes, did repairs etc. I was very pleased. He was employee #617 and his name was Richard. Thanks Richard. He fixed us up so we could get back to work. Well done!
Description of Work: Found a clog in the PVC, did some cut and paste, snaked out the system.

Another plumbing company failed to locate second septic tank and would not clean the septic drain pipe when requested to do so. They insisted a completely new system had to be installed ($3k-8k estimate) and did not try to solve the root of the problem, which was obviously drainage. The washer drained onto the floor during cycle and the kitchen sink failed to drain if left running. Called David Gray on a Saturday at 11 a.m. and Scott L came out by 1:30. He methodically worked on the problem until he solved it. Aided the owner in rectifying an unsafe situation left by the previous company and made an excellent recommendation for a different company to work on the septic tank. Also gave suggestions on signs of failure to look out for. Left the area clean and neat. Will definitely call again if other septic pipe needs to be cleaned out. No trip charge. No overtime charge on a Saturday afternoon. Good call ahead time.
Description of Work: Home had been vacant for six years. Cleared septic drain pipe which was completely clogged by algae and roots in an hour and a half. Snaked washer line and kitchen sink line from roof to septic tank. Thoroughly tested both lines until they drained real time.

I met Janet Myers (a sales rep for them) at the Home & Patio Show back in February, and was eager to have them come out to give us an estimate on a complete remodel of two bathrooms in my home ( Flooring, tubs, showers, vanities, sinks, toilets, etc.). I was informed that they did do everything and I scheduled an appointment. She contacted me a little over a week later ( which was fine, I know they are busy after home shows) and we scheduled an appt. She arrived promptly and was great. Took notes, measurements and we chatted for about 30 minutes or so about what we wanted. I informed her that were ready do this and the sooner the better. The estimate with her was great. I felt she understood what we wanted, and assured me that this was all possible. She also informed me that they were almost ready to open a new showroom where I could come and pick out alot of the things I wanted. My estimate was done on a Thursday, and she told me in the next few days she would have an estimate ready. I waited until the following Tuesday ( 5 days later) and asked her if she had that estimate yet. This was her response: Good afternoon.... I'm working as quickly as possible, however, I have to wait on pricing to come back for me to finalize your estimate. If you have until tomorrow to wait for me that would be great.... If not, I certainly understand. Thank you for your patience. Thank you, Janet Myers To which I never heard from again. No phone call, no email no nothing. I emailed her again asking for the estimate and never received a reply. If they were not able to do this job ( perhaps it was too much?) she should have just told me. I had 3 estimates done for this job and our choices came down to them and one other. This was OVER a $15,000 job that they passed up. I also want to add that this was not something complicated. It was replacing toilets, sinks, vanities, one bath tub and one stand up shower enclosure. No busting down walls, no moving anything. Just simply replacing the old with new. I would never recommend or use David Grey for anything if this is how they conduct their business.

Love these guys! They were willing to come on a Saturday without charging more than a weekday call. They were fast and provided good service and charged a fair price. One fix was very simple and the gentleman made sure to show me what to do myself if it happened again, saving me a plumbing call in the future. Will definitely call again.

I was very impressed with the professionalism and I felt confident that the assessment was correct.
Description of Work: Water was backed up in shower and in toilet. Contacted plumber and they had someone to my house within an hour ( on a Sunday night). He assessed the situation including the septic system and determined that the septic system was at fault not the indoor plumbing. I was told that if I had any plumbing problems within the next 30 days I would be given a free service call.

We had a shower where water had slowed to a trickle and a toilet that took 15 to 20 minutes to fill. He immediately went to the heart of the problems and corrected both. Additionally, he was able to explain why we sometimes get warm water in two of our sinks (our recirculating system is set up that way.)
Description of Work: Orson, David Gray'a plumber, arrived on time, professionally fixed the plumbing problems that we had. He was knowledgeable, polite and professional throughout the time he was working. We will ask for him again when a plumber is needed.

Required a drain repair, after several failing attempts at making the repairs on my own, we contacted David Gray Plumbing through the help of Angie's List. We were contacted the next day, a service representative showed up, on time, made the repair without flaw, and only charged the expected rate. Very satisified. We only recently moved to Florida, and finding the right repair companies can be challenging, thanks for the help.

Response from David Gray Plumbing
Customer contacted us regarding the possibility of replacing the sewer line servicing her house. She wanted a price to perform the work on the same day she contacted us. Unfortunately, we were not able to accommodate that. We were extremely busy that day and were forced to prioritize our work - emergencies went addressed first. She did not want work done; rather, she wanted a price to have elective work done. So, we advised the customer that we would get to it as soon as we could. Unfortunately, she felt the need was more pressing and took her work elsewhere.

Overall I would recommend them.
Description of Work: I had them come twice. On time- year ago to fix a toilet issue. The second time to come around and fix a clogged drain. They have a 30 day guarantee warranty. I had to have them come back over the same clog 31 days later and they honored the 30 day warranty. All times I got a quick response never paid more than 200 dollars( the clog was less than100) . . The clog drain issue had to have a recall for service but that was the plumber not the company. The company was courteous, responsive, reasonable priced, and honored their warranty/guarantee. I will definitely use them again.

Overall the service went well. But it was not a big job; minor leak and checking operations of a garbage disposal. Service guy asked a lot of questions prior to work. My only complaints are: the company didn't reply to my email request for work. And bad advertising on Angie's List.
Description of Work: I purchased the work coupon off of Angie's list for $68 which included the service call fee (regular price of $78) plus one hour of labor. This a bargain considering I only had to pay any extra $8 for parts and gas for the service guy to drive to my house. Angie's did fail to disclose that the free hour starts from the time they travel from there office (15 mins), which you are left with just 45 mins, not an hour as advertised. The job that I had was a minor leak, so it didn't take long to repair. And I had the guy check on the garbage disposal that I installed earlier. It was funny in a sense that the disposal didn't start when I turned it on previously, but when the service guy came it started on like a charm.

Two technicians were here for over an hour to do the work. They worked quickly, were very professional, did an excellent job and cleaned up perfectly. They took the time to tell me how to purge the water heater myself and how often to do it. I thought the price was very fair, I had expected to pay more. Very professional and came the same day I called.
Description of Work: They installed a new kitchen faucet and soap dispenser. In addition, they replaced a coil in the water heater, as we were getting only about 50% of our hot water volume. They also drained and cleaned the water heater.

I called and (unknowingly) left a message with the answering service. A nice woman called me back and I *re-explained* my situation... AGAIN. Then I was told that they don't come out for estimates on minor repairs/work, only for big renovation projects and that kind of thing. "Our technicians arrive ready to work" is what she said. (For the record, she was polite and professional). They lost my business (on this and any future work) because they're unwilling to schedule in a 15 minute detour for someone to estimate how much it will cost to repair a toilet. (Anyone in the Jax area knows they have trucks all over the place, I'm centrally located and am probably on someone's route several times per week.

This worker was neat, clean and polite. I asked him about fixing the toilet which was not on the original work order as I already had a kit, and decided since he was there to ask... He had a lot of trouble fixing the shower leak, but did succeed and it is still working correctly. He seemed to know about fixing faucets as that is also still in good shape and not leaking anymore. The toilet unfortunately runs sporadically and I will need to have another plumber come fix that when I can get time off work or get my brother to look at it. This worker replaced the hose coming from the toilet bottom to the water source which was a good thing and has improved the way it fills. Maybe the toilet repair kit I had purchased was defective or something - don't know, but the toilet just starts running by itself and wastes water which was a new problem that started after he put in the new kit. To be fair it may not have been anything he did - may just be defective parts. He mentioned the toilet tank needed to be cleaned out, but he did not do it, so I did it the following weekend, but that did not fix the problem. I probably should have just done it (toilet repair kit) myself. There was really nothing wrong with this worker - I just find it exasperating to have to fix something that I paid someone else to fix - even if it wasn't his fault. (maybe faulty parts?)
Description of Work: Fixed leak in shower and leaky sink. Also changed out toilet assembly and hose from toilet to water connection.

The men I saw and talked to were all polite and very nice. This made it pleasant and trust worthy. I didn't have to get ugly in tone. I just explained the problems I had and they fixed it.
Description of Work: We had David Gray company come to house to unclog a major drain under the house. We had a 30 day quantee. This took place a few days before Thanksgiving. About three weeks later, the back up came in our bathtub this time. So we called them. The weather was raining and lightening but they did try. It took all week to get a chance to snake again. One technician went the wrong way and poked a hole in our toilet. While setting a time for another visit, I mentioned this to the dispatcher and it was taken care of. Not only did they clear the clog but replaced the toilet with a new one. I am pleased they lived up to their good reputation and would recommend them 100 %.

The guy comes out for an estimate. I explain to him the two options that I needed for the estimate - 1 was for the demo to be completed prior to them performing any work, the second was for the full project. This guy hemmed and hawed like I've never seen. This was the most dramatic preparation for an incredibly pricey bid. I ended up having to cut a block of drywall out above the tub so he could see behind the walls. This guy made it clear they did not want the work. I received an estimate - more than double the lowest priced estimate I received. I had other work completed by David Gray and that was astronomically priced as well. I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you need affordable services.

JEA notified us of our bi-annual requirement to have our backflow prevention inspected. David Grey Plumbing was on their preferred list of vendors, and of them had the best overall rating on Angie's List. They were easy to contact and schedule an appointment with. The gentleman on the phone informed me that the best way to get a punctual appointment was to get the first appointment of the day, and he explained why. I was able to get an appointment 2 business days after my call. The Plumber, Don, was on-time, very polite, and very professional. I'm assuming that the price that I paid is competitive, but decided not to get other quotes since David Grey Plumbing felt very professional and legitimate from start to finish. I'm happy with the service that they provided.

Had a leak in my master bathroom that was leaking down to the condo below mine. I had another plumbing company come out several times and it never got fixed. David Gray Plumbing came out and did lots of troubleshooting and testing to see from where the leak was coming. He figured out it was actually a defect in the wall that required demolition and new tile. The service call was great! I had the David Gray estimator come out to quote me what it would cost to redo the tile in the bath. His tone and attitude towards my budget and design choices made me not want to work with him. I asked for suggestions on how to lay the tile out and grout, etc. He didn't have any answers - it's not his department. And then he kept changing the story on how much waste I should plan in my tile sq ft calculations - it went from 10% (industry standard) up to 20%. I didn't get a good vibe, so I'm going with another company for the tile work.

Dominic was very courteous and professional from start to finish. He quickly diagnosed the multiple plumbing and water heater problems we were having and had all of the materials on-hand that were needed to fix it. He was extremely efficient and accomplished the job in a very reasonable amount of time... more quickly than I had expected. He was detail-oriented and left things clean and looking better than he found them. The kitchen faucet installation looks wonderful. He even removed the hard water build-up that was left after he removed the old faucet. This was our first experience with David Gray Plumbing, and we will definitely call them again!
Description of Work: Installed new kitchen faucet and soap dispenser, removed faulty kitchen sink disposal and replaced with new (he provided it), drained and removed sediment from water heater.
