+ 0 moreThis job was recommended the prior Friday when I used this company to snake my clogged kitchen drain and it was discovered that the drain pipe that I currently had was not adequately blocking the waste water from the garbage disposal from coming up into the rinse sink. This company has a specific team of people who just clear clogged or slow moving drains - nothing more, that is why the separate appointment was necessary. The plumber arrived right on time (1st appointment of the day on Monday morning) and was very professional and courteous. It only took him approximately 15 minutes to change out the drain pipe and test his work, then cleanup and replace all the items stored under my sink. I was charged the minimum service call cost and was even offered a $10 coupon which was advertised in the local paper which I was not even aware of - THAT is great customer service! All my plumbing problems seem to be resolved now but if I need a plumber again, I will definitely call this company.

+ 0 moreThe technician and his assistant arrived in short order after an emergency call. The technician immediately went to work removing the sink trap and snaked the line. Turns out that an access pipe had been installed in our downstairs bathroom that we were not aware of (new Florida residents) which provided some evidence that there was a previous problem. Now we know that we can snake from the access panel instead of taking everything out from under the kitchen sink if this happens again. Turns out we had spider roots in the pipes which the technician promptly snaked through. He provided some education on the local water scale issues and showed us how to do some regular maintenance of our own to prevent or at least reduce the number of future visits from a plumber. What a professional! It was refreshing to deal with a company that wasn't just out for the money. I wasn't able to use the $30 online coupon for my work today because my service ticket was not over $100 so the technician offered the $10 coupon that was posted in the newspaper instead....great customer service! The whole job was only $84 and I have a new plumbing company to call for any future jobs.

+ -1 moreThey are punctual. They spent some time on a kitchen faucet that I've had some problems with, but it has been replaced by the company, by the manufacturer. My husband said, ""they were extremely high." They are okay. They are pretty prompt. They are a little pricey.

+ -1 moreHe was very nice and asked if I wanted him to remove the caulking from around the toilet. He didn't seem concerned that it was leaking. He did look under the house to see if he could see water (he did not go under the house) and said if there was a leak water would be seeping through the insulation. I chose not to have him remove the caulking since he seemed sure it wasn't leaking however the floor in my bathroom squeaks and I am still concerned. Feel it's my fault for not having him complete it.
Description of Work: Checked around toilet to see if there was a leak. He put in a new flapper in tank.

We knew in advance there was an additional $60 fee (trip charge) due to the zip code being out of their normal service area. I feel this could be adjusted a little if the customer has the work done. In any case, I was aware of the charge in advance. I will also use them in the future with or without the trip charge. If the rest of the employees are as well received as Richard was; then the company deserves the high rating it has on Angie's List.

They all know what they're doing. They explain things to you and give you ideas maybe how to avoid problems in the future.
Description of Work: David Gray Plumbing replaced a kitchen faucet and they also replaced an outside faucet the last time we used them. We used a commercial faucet. We've used them a lot over the years. They re-plumbed the house. They put in new fixtures in the bathroom. They repaired leaks, that kind of stuff.

+ 0 moreI contacted David Gray plumbing on Thursday May 30, 2013. Renee was helpful and friendly and said that they had an opening on Friday between 10am and 1pm and would call at least 30 minutes prior to arrival. She also said that they would diagnose the problem and have a 50 gallon water heater (my choice) with them in case it needed to be replaced. On Friday at approximately 10:30 am I received a call to say they were on their way. They arrive about 1 hour later and proceeded to diagnose the water heater. They said that the main thermostat was burned out and that it was best to replace both thermostats and both coils. It was not necessary to replace the whole water heater. I agreed and they began their work. I asked if they minded me watching and they said "not at all". They removed the old components and replaced them with new ones. The bottom coil was heavily corroded and they indicated that this was the main source of the problem. Following replacement they cleaned up the area and tested the water heater. After about 15 minutes I ran a hot water faucet and noticed a good supply of hot water.
Description of Work: Replaced thermostats and coils in 60 gallon electric water heater

At 12:30, we got a call from the plumber letting us know he was about 30 minutes away. He arrived promptly, worked to unclog the tub and was done in about 30 minutes. Very quick, efficient, and professional. We will use David Gray Plumbing for all of our plumbing needs and highly recommend them.

Description of Work: The plumber was supposed to check the back flow preventers in individual offices. He could not perform the check up because the preventers were shut off by the city, but he spent time examining the preventers and pointing out damage due to being old.. I had a second contact with this plumber, when the city contacted us after we reported to them that the plumber inspected the back flows in question and could not check them because they were shut. On that visit he wanted us to meet him at the site , gave us a time when he will be there. We arrived at exactly the time, but had to sit in the car and wait for at least an hour before he arrived. these are rental properties , not our home. We were there for another 1 1/2 hours while he was checking, sitting in our car. We were happy to pay the fee he asked for even though nothing was fixed, but we figured he spent his time. I called him after the city checked the back flow valves and opened them, He quoted me $ 1,100.00 to replace the parts saying they were old. He requested $ 169.00 to open each one that was not working, plus another fee for checking each one. When I said, the city has not said anything about the back flow valves being old and needing to be replaced his answer was that I will have to replace them sooner or later. I contacted another plumber, who fixed the three back flows for $140.00, sent a form to the city, did not require us to sit in the car while he finishes the job, but sent us a bill along with copies of what he sent to the City of St. Augustine. This is the last time I would contact David Gray Plumbing for any plumbing work.
