Description of Work: Gave them a 300.00 deposit for work to be done, said they would be back in ten days and never came back. This happened quite awhile ago now, and is very aggravating to think about.

Description of Work: Based on Angie's list I called Ash Away to have my chimney cleaned and caps placed on the chimney. A representative came out promptly and gave me a written estimate of $580.00. He said he would order the cap and come back as soon as it arrived. This was March 8th, 20012. At the end of March I called to see when they thought the cap would come in. They said it was a special order and that the supplier was behind on orders. I continued to call every few weeks to see when the cap was coming in. I also advised them that I was leaving town the first of June for six months. Just before leaving I called - no cap yet - and asked them to go ahead with the order and that I would like to have it installed in Nov. when I returned. In Nov. when I returned I called and they said the cap was in and told me they would be out the following Wed. to install it. Nobody showed up. I called several times and could not get through. I then used someone else phone and got through. The woman who answered said she was in her car and would call when she got back. NO call. I finally got through to her on another phone. She said she did not know anything about missed appointment and that they did not have the cap. I suggested we forget the cap and just clean the Chimney. Her response - we are very busy and won't be able to get to you for several months.

Description of Work: needed a chimney cap. called ash away,they sent a guy out. He said the job would be $800 and I gave him a $400.00 deposit. HE said he had to order the part and it would be delivered and installed in 2 weeks. 2 weeks came and went, I went on vacation the 3rd week, forgot about it on the 4th week. Finally after about 6 weeks of waiting, I contacted the company. They had NO record of anyone ever coming to my home, or my deposit. The woman on the phone said she would look into it. LONG story short, the guy who came to my house was let go. HE never turned in his estimates so I got lost in the shuffle. We had rain for the next 2 weeks, so FINALLY, after about 2 months, the owner found my original paperwork, came out, replaced the cap on my chimney, and didn't charge me for the remainder. Took a LONG time, but would use again. Honest owner.

Description of Work: Mike swept chimney, offered advice and gave me a website where i could order a fire resistant caulk and how I could repair a crack inside my firebox myself rather than replacing the back panel at a cost of $500.00 not including his labor. I took his advice and did it myself for under $20. Over time and usage all brick can crack from heat in the firebox but so far I've had no problems with the caulk and his word holds true. Other great qualities is his response time, punctuality and didn't leave a mess. Great job!
