Repair parts under warranty were shipped to me by Maytag. Contacted Provider on Friday at noon to schedule installation as per their $250 labor quote. I was given an interval between 10am and 1pm the following Monday. They don't work on weekends. I received a call about 12:30 on Monday that they would be at my home in 30 minutes. I went home and was there about 15 minutes before I received another call informing me that the technician's child was ill and he would need to postpone the service until the following day (Tuesday) at about 11:00am. On Tuesday, the technician called at 10:00am to advise that he was on his way to my home. I met him there and he performed the work desired. After disassembly, he showed me the parts that failed and reassembled the washer, tested it and charged me the amount agreed upon, $250.
Description of Work: Provider was at my home three weeks ago to diagnose washing machine breakdown and provide estimate. See separate review. Provider returned to perform the service.

Found that the main shaft bearing had failed, which will require replacement of the drum and shaft, which cost about $950. The washer comes with a one year warranty, but mine was almost three years old. Tech suggested I call Maytag and submit a warranty claim after I told him that from the beginning, the spin cycle was so loud that I closed the door to the laundry room to hear the TV. AAR quoted $250 for labor if I could get Maytag to provide the parts. Otherwise. I could get a new washer for less than the repair cost. His service charge was $68.

It went fantastic. I called and they got me an appointment for the next day. Vance called in the morning and gave me an hours notice before he would be coming over. And I felt awful bc I had a doc appointment and was late! He sat and waited for me in my driveway for 20 min. He wasnt upset or angry and was completely understanding. He fixed the problem easily and explained what as wrong. He also took a look at a few other small annoyances with the washer and the dryer just because he was there and knowledgeable. I asked him about cleaning the dryer vent and he said it wasnt necessary due to the location of the dryer but they do that all the time. I was incredibly pleased with Vances professionalism promptness and helpfulness in my situation. I would HIGHLY recommend them

The experience was a little frustrating because of having to endure 4 visits. However, they continued to try to repair the cooler until they succeeded. It's hard to fault them because I really don't think that any company has experience repairing these coolers. We did have difficulty with the warranty company. However, once Advanced was involved, they worked with them. All the repairmen were very professional, worked diligently...and they continued to work on it until it was fixed. I would recommend them and use them in the future if we have any problems.
Description of Work: Advanced performed warranty work on our Danby wine cooler. It had quit cooling. While it didn't appear that they had much experience with wine coolers (don't think anybody has), they successfully repaired it during the 4th visit.

Maytag Factory Authorized had an answering service and got back to me after half an hour. He had good reviews about him. He came out, take a look at it, called the supplier they knew about and told me there was 2 different parts where I can get one of them cheaper. He ordered it, took a few days, came back, put it in and we were done. I would use him again. He was very professional and he knew his business. He is an honest guy and he came across straight forward.

Noticed that my refrigerator & freezer were getting gradually warmer. Called another appliance repair company that I had used in the past and was told the earliest appointment to come out would be in 6 days. Immediately jumped on Angie's List and called Advanced Appliance Repair. Was given a time range they would be there on the same day, but I asked them to please call me when they were about 30 minutes away. 30 minutes before their arrival, I got a call. They showed up, diagnosed the problem quickly and suggested I buy a new refrigerator. He gave me suggestions for places to purchase and explained everything he found on my broken one. Will definitely call again.

I had a general repair person come out and look at my clothes washer and was told it was too expensive to fix, cheaper to just get a new one. I didn't want to hear that. I called and spoke with Vance and asked for a second opinion. He took the time to explain that it could be a waste of my money, first guy could be right, but his explanation and costs were reasonable and I chose to get the second opinion. He arrived promptly, was very professional, and explained the issue and choices I could make. I will gladly call him again.

When the repair person was working on the problem, they did a great job. However, there were several bumps in the road regarding getting the part and getting the repair person there to install it. Since the part was coming from a warehouse in the same city, I didn't think this would be a problem. He ordered the part on Tuesday, and I expected it would be received on Wednesday. I didn't hear anything on Wednesday, so I called him at the end of the day. At first, he didn't remember me. When I relayed the details of my repair, he remembered me. He told me they ordered it Fed Ex overnight, but it had not be received when they all left the office at 3 PM. There was a business that accepted packages for them after 3 PM, and perhaps they received it. He was going to check in the morning (Thursday morning). I didn't hear from him on Thursday, so I called him. He said the package had not been received, and gave me a variety of excuses. He didn't offer a tracking number so I could also confirm it's status. He said that it might come that afternoon after 3 PM, and if it did, he would come the next morning (Friday) to my house first thing to install it. I stayed home from work Friday morning. I didn't get any calls form him, so I called his cell phone several times and went to voicemail. I called the office and reached the receptionist. I learned that the part STILL had not come in, and even if it did, the repair guy was booked all morning. I was really upset that I had been given bad information, and my time had been wasted. Next, I spoke with the repair guy and voiced my concerns. I told him it was very odd that a Fed Ex overnight package had taken three days to reach him. I asked if someone else could install it, and learned the entire office was going on a camping trip that afternoon. I asked if anyone could come over on Saturday to install the part. They discussed whether someone's dad could do it, and decided that no one could install it on Saturday. At this point, I was more than irate. I haven't had a washer in two weeks, and faced spending a weekend at the laundermat because they couldn't get their act together. I felt like the guy was being dishonest on the Fed Ex overnight delivery business. Also, work was a normal pace the week this occurred. The following week, when he would be installing the part, was a really busy week at work. Since I'd already taken off two partial days for this repair, I would be hard-pressed to take off another partial day, especially during a really busy week. The delay meant that I would have to rely on my 18 year old daughter to be there when he installed the part, and I am very uncomfortable with having work people at the house when my girls are home alone. I explained all this to the repair guy, and he didn't really care. He was going on his camping trip, and that's all there was to it. He did come in on Monday and make the repair. The work done was excellent, but the remainder of the experience left a lot to be desired. I really did not expect this kind of experience from a company that was so highly rated in Angie's List. I don't need the type of frustration I had in this experience, and I won't ever use these folks again.
Description of Work: Our front-loading washer began leaking water. We have never used a repair person since moving to Jacksonville, and turned to Angie's List for recommendations. We called several firms on a Sunday, and this was the first person to call us back on Monday. I made an appointment for Tuesday, and gave them the model number so the techician would have the parts in the truck. The repair person called me the morning of the appointment day and offered to come earlier, but I couldn't leave work any earlier than the appointed time. He did arrive 30 minutes earlier than the 3-hour window promised. Fortunately, traffice was light coming from my office and I happened to pull up right behind him. He diagnosed the problem within 15 minutes - a bra underwire stuck in the sump pump. He told me this was an unusual repair, and he didn't have a sump pump in the truck. He could order one from a warehouse in town, and probably have it on Thursday to install. The new sump pump was installed on the following Monday, and we have had no further problems with the washer.

The serviceman found a burnt connector in the wiring and replaced it, with labor for $89. I was very satisfied withthe price, and he was done in under an hour. He could have charged me a lot more and replaced the circuit board with extra labor, but honesty wins new customers over, every time. I will use them again.

Overall experience was highly satisfactory. Called their offices and found out they had a crew 'in the area' and they stopped by within 1/2 hour from my call. Problem is described above. Technicians were pleasant and work accomplished with minimal disruption.
Description of Work: Refrigerator was not cooling - found it was a 'defrost' issue and wires were shorting out because of build up of ice in the freezer (where the motor is located). Very friendly and responsive company who agreed to come the next day for a problem I was having with my icemaker. Technician said the water had been turned off, speculated that it had most likely been turned off because of a leak. He turned on the water but was unable to locate a leak. He told us refrigerator leaks are difficult to diagnose, that they could occur in any one of 5 or 6 different places and it would be nearly impossible to tell for sure since it wasn't actively leaking. So he "reset" the filter, suggesting maybe that would do the trick, and went on his way. By midnight, I had a huge puddle on my wood floor, had to pull the refrigerator from the wall and turn off the water. The next day, I called a different service. The owner/operator turned on the water valve, listened carefully, and knew immediately it was the filter that was leaking -- which he removed and showed to us (even I could see the cracks in it). He popped in a new filter and I've been happy as a penguin ever since.

My refrigerator was warm. I looked up appliance repair on Angie's list, my boss looked at the list and said he had used Advanced Appliance Repair, and I saw that they had a rating of A so I called. They were very nice when I explained my situation but they said that they only had one guy working today. Barbara called me back 5 minutes later and said they guy agreed to take on another job and would call me when he was 10 minutes out. He did and showed up in under 10 minutes. He was professional and courteous and fixed the problem. I will call them again if I have another problem.

When he told me how much it would cost $179.00 I questioned this as I had the same thing done by another company for $84.00 the cost after they deducted the house call. He was very annoyed that I called him on it and went into a diatribe on why his charge was more realistic than the other. I knew the part only cost $45.00 and told him so. He said he did not know how much the part cost. How silly is that? He agreed to deduct the house call when he came back the next time with the part, except he collected the house call that day from me on my Am Ex card. When he came back to complete the repair he presented the bill minus the house call and because it was around 133 dollars I agreed and paid him but later realized later that I ended up paying $179.00 including the house call which I paid two days earlier. I was mad at myself for not catching it sooner and furious with him. He overcharged me for sure and I would never call him again. He saw a big house and charged whatever he could and got away with it.

Response from Appliance Repair Services of Jacksonville
In responce to this report,I would like to say .I did give a up front price of 179.00. I charge 125.00 labor to pull a dishwasher out and disconect a water line, plus any parts. If any custormer knows there exact problem I will give them,a price over the phone. The only problem this person had was the cost of the repair, not the quality of the workmanship. The person who did the same job a few years earlyer, probbly is no longer in bussiness, there are many that come and go. I have been doing repair work in Jacksonville and the beaches for 24 years. I have been in the same location for 19 years. If any one has any questions about my pricing or knowlege, I welcome your call at 904-645-5600 Vance Carrillo

Craig came when promised, completed his work very quickly and was very professional. I used this company twice several years ago and they are as good today as they were then. I called Advanced and they arranged to send someone that same day within a two-hour time slot, which I thought was very reasonable. Craig, when he was on his way, called first and arrived promptly. He replaced the pump and left the area clean. When I did laundry the next week, I noticed the machine vibrated quite a bit. On subsequent laundry days, it seemed to get worse. I called Advanced about 3 weeks after the repair and reported the problem. Although they said that changing the pump should not cause the problem I was experiencing, they arranged for Craig to return the next day. Craig checked several things on the machine and called a tech who might be more familiar with my model to ask further questions. When he was unable to solve the problem, he returned the next day with the other tech. They checked out the machine and called the factory seeking further help. The tech who accompanied Craig (sorry, I forgot his name) said the machine was fine and it must be the wood floor. The tech explained that moving the machine may have gotten it out of the place where it had settled. I was skeptical since the floor had not changed and I had not had this problem before the service. Craig went to the extra effort to suggest they move/carry the machine to the concrete floor in my garage to test the theory and assure me. The machine worked fine on the solid floor. I appreciate his concern for my satisfaction. Now I need to find someone to correct the floor problem, but, I know I have found a trustworthy appliance repair company in Advanced.

I called this company after checking their rating on Angie's List. My freezer stopped working and the food was spoiling. The customer service rep who answered the phone took the serial and model numbers, brand name and other details about the refrigerator. She arranged for the repairmen to arrive the next day at 11. Two repairmen arrived on time, took one look at the refrigerator and said they don't repair that brand of appliance. When I explained that I provided the brand and other details to the customer service rep, they said it was too bad she didn't do her job and look it up. I expressed my frustration that I had waited a day for nothing and my food was spoiling. They said, "That's too bad. We came all the way over here on a wild goose chase, too." They acted like I had put them out!
