Description of Work: Had 16 yr old sliding glass doors including frames (which were 33yrs old) in bedroom and living room replaced. Received an estimate in June from Daniel who was very thorough in giving me the breakdown on costs and varying options for the doors I could purchase. He stated that the doors would take 4-5 wks to custom make from PGT Industries. I was required to put a 50% deposit down at signing of contract estimate. American Windows called us to schedule our installation which we set for July 8, 2011. Installers arrived and proceeded to replace the smaller bedroom doors and frame. Installers were very courteous and professional with my wife who took off work to be at home that day. When the installers went to prepare to install the living room doors and frame they informed my wife that the factory had not sent the correct doors and installation would be delayed until they received the new doors and we scheduled a new appointment. They estimated about 15 days. After two weeks and I had not heard back from American Windows I called and stated I was displeased that I had not gotten a call from them with respect to the problem with receiving the correct doors. I was told to talk to Mike who heads the installation department. When I did contact Mike he explained to me what had happened and that he was waiting on an extrusion from the factory and then we would be called to reschedule door installation. I was satisfied with his explanation, but my expectation as a customer would have been for him to call not soon after the installers left with an explanation of what happened. The installers arrived on Aug 8 and completed the job. Again the installers were very professional and courteous and both door installations look great. My only suggestion in the future would be to have the materials being used for the job inspected before arriving at the customer's house to ensure that what the customer ordered and what the factory shipped are the right products to be installed.

Description of Work: The salesman was professional and so was the installation of windows and glass doors. Consulted three firms, and decided this company had the most experience and the best price. We've enjoyed our windows with no problems for over a year.

Description of Work: Had a salesman come by to give us an estimate. We called two days later and left a message for the salesman to contact us concerning a change in our sliding door. We wanted a price for a different door. Never heard a word from the salesman. We have caller ID on all our phones. He just didn't bother to call us back. We knew the Home and Patio Show was in town so we waited three weeks. Still no phone call. The pricing was in the ballpark of all the other bids. However, if we couldn't get him to even call us back for a change order, we wondered what kind of service we would get if we awarded American Window the job. Apparently, this company just didn't need our business. We went with higher bidder. Customer service counts for a lot these days people.
