Description of Work: It was 7pm on a Sunday evening and I had something on my laptop that looked suspicious. I called Tom to get his advice. (He has always said I could call him if I had any questions/concerns/issues with my laptop). He called me back within 10 minutes! On a Sunday evening! I could not believe it! I answered the phone and told him he was fabulous! Which he is! It turned out that it wasn't a big deal after all, but how would I know? Of course,no charge for the call. Amazing! He is just so congenial and helpful. He said he likes to call customers back as soon as he can, so they are not stuck with a computer they can't or are afraid to use. Thanks again Tom! Description of Work: Phenomenal. The best in-home service experience I have ever had. I run a small business from my home office and my computer became almost totally unstable which put me in a state of fear and panic. I was getting all kinds of “errors”, from what appeared to be Microsoft, sending me “hard drive error” messages requiring me to buy a piece of software to repair these so-called errors. If I refused or tried to x-out, it would throw me off the internet repeatedly. Then my computer began to freeze for 5-10 minutes at a time. Finally, the screen went black, only a few icons remained, and all my files appeared to be completely gone. In a panic I called Tom, based on previous reviews I had read on Angie’s List. The other reviews as good as they are, are insufficient. This guy not only is a specialist and expert, he shows and tells you what happened, how you received the virus or malware in the first place and what to do to help prevent getting them again. Then he proceeds to do his magic cleaning up the system, freeing up the files, and making it ultimately run like it did “out of the box”. Actually even better, because he loaded a potent, free anti-malware product and virus program that runs in the background and protects the system from the idiots out there who have nothing better to do then ruin your system and then try to take your money to fix the problem they caused in the first place!. Tom is the best. Do not hesitate for a second to call him. No, I am not his brother or father, just an incredibly satisfied customer who is so grateful to him and also to Angie’s List for connecting us.

He spent a good three hours, not only fixing the problem, but he also gave me directions on how to avoid possible reinfections and cleaned out all unneeded programs and files. Description of Work: Our Toshiba laptop (2.5 yrs. old) was running very slow...Tom came to our home, spent 5 hours, trying to reconfigure programs and getting things to run faster. Finally, he admitted that to get things to run faster and more efficiently, he recommended re-building the computer. He took the computer to his shop and returned with it 4 days later. He re-installed our programs, installed anti-virus and malware software, got us back on the internet and connected to our wireless printer.

Description of Work: I called CPR in a panic, about 8 PM on a Friday evening. The connection to my computer network was gone. I couldn’t get in from my main desktop machine or from my assistant’s computer. I had to access files over the weekend, to finish preparations for a major speaking presentation I was making the following Tuesday. My problem was compounded by the fact that I would be away from my home office all day on Saturday. I expected to get an answering machine, but Tom answered. He walked me through the solution, which I was able to implement on Saturday evening after buying and installing a replacement item.

Description of Work: One of the virus protection services on our laptop failed. We sent Tom an e-mail and he told us what he thought was wrong and provided a link to a web-site to deinstall and reinstall our virus protection. He told us that if this did not work, he would visit and take care of the problem. His recommended web-site worked as he described it would and we have had no further problems since. Tom could have easily made an appointment, come to the house and charged us for this service. The fact that he tutored us into how to handle this ourselves and at no charge is greatly commendable in these fiscal times. This the type of ."old fashioned" business practice that Tom provides and makes him the number one computer service provider that we will use for all of our computer/printer/internet problems - now and in the future.

Description of Work: He replaced a dead hard drive, put in a new operating system, and was able to retrieve my data from my dead hard drive and upload it onto my new one.

Description of Work: Tom is my computer maven. I have used him previously and he has always done a great job. This time I was travelling and at a conference when the hard drive on my laptop failed. FedExed him the computer and he removed the failed hard drive and replaced it with a solid state drive. He also installed a backup hard drive. Then he installed all the programs and put all my files back on my fixed laptop. He did a great job.

He picked up my laptop on Thursday and had to reload and restore everything. He worked over the weekend and delivered the laptop back to me on a Sunday with everything back in running order. I wanted to keep Windows XP so all my software stayed intact. I needed a seamless transition without down-time for my home-based business. Tom was familiar with my set-up because he had fixed several problems for me previously. We talked for less than 5 minutes, and he made several recommendations which I took. Tom ordered an affordable, like-new (refurbished) CPU from Dell Outlet which was delivered to him in a couple days. He e-mailed me Dell's invoice showing the specs and purchase price. He replaced the obligatory Windows 7 operating system with Windows XP at his office, then brought the new CPU to my place. Within a few days of my initial phone call Tom was ready to transfer my data to the new CPU.
