Description of Work: My desktop was unable to restart after a download from a MIcrosoft out source. They tried installing, by remote, several substitutes and failed each time. I became disgusted with lack of results and found Tom Hernden, through Angie's List. I now completely unserstand why he is top rated in the Tampa Bay area. Tom made one visit, determined the problem, took my Dell XP back to his shop and returned it today fully operational. There were more upgrades on the machine than I imagined were desireable, but Tom installed them and charged less than he first anticipated. Computer Problem Resolutions (CPR) is a company I will call anytime I have a problem with my desktop or two laptops!!! It is so rare to receive this kind of quick service without speaking for hours, on different occasions, to someone in a foreign country - then hanging up with no solution to the problem for days on end. Description of Work: I was having an issue with my Outlook Express Spell Check. It was only checking in French and I could not get it to English. I also was having an issue with my USB ports not working.

Description of Work: My daughter's laptop had become infected with malware. Due to schedule/distance constraints, she would only be home for 48 hours. Tom scheduled her for Monday morning and stayed at our house to perform the service so she could have her laptop back immediately for her online classes! He thoroughly cleaned her PC, gave her excellent safety tips and a nifty screen saver too! My husband and I were so impressed, we're scheduling service next week to get each of our laptops "tuned up". Tom is GREAT -- goes out of his way to help you and get you to understand your computer and different malicious viruses, malware, etc. so you know what to do.

Description of Work: My computer was very slow in starting up and at times would not start up. Tom Hernden came to the house, fixed the computer and removed a lot of unwanted programs that had somehow gotten onto my computer.

Description of Work: After I spent much a great deal on many different software programs that would "Speed Up" my PC, I was finally seduced into getting a service that would cleaned up my computer and speed it up while correcting hundreds of operating system and SW errors. It was a scam even though they sounded like they were knowledgeable and helpful. I finally wised up and with Angie's recommendation called CPR. Tom, the owner/operator was punctual in arriving at my home. Spent 4 plus hours showing me the errors, conflicts of battling software and explained the where, why and how to fix while completing the fix. Result was I got an excellent education plus a vastly improved PC and some wise council to boot! He even helped me with another problem on the phone with no charge.

Description of Work: Older Dell Laptop was jamming up and could not shut it down. He updated the software and removed items that I didn't use. Removed old anti-virus software and installed new up to date anti virus software. He added memory to my computer as well.

Description of Work: My son was building his first desktop computer. We needed help in choosing the correct motherboard chipset drivers to install. I called Tom Hernden for a home service call due to his Angie's List rating.

Description of Work: I called CPR for my computers which were sick with viruses etc. Tom Hernadon the owner of CPR responded. He made an arrangement to come to my residence and pick up computers. There were two of them this trip. My laptop had bit the dust and was not able to be saved. Instead of trying to fix the laptop only to be spending more money to repair it Tom recommended saving the aggravation I would have by just saving the data and look for another laptop. That was good news to me! My desktop was infected with a very bad virus and he was able to clean it up and recommend some way better and more efficient virus protections. This again was a recommendation of not spending a fortune for the program I had on the computer in the first place. I really thank Tom for his honesty and being sincere not just trying to get more business with additional calls to him. He was very punctual when either picking up or dropping off the computers too. I would highly recommend Tom Hernadon at CPR to anyone. I all Tom repaired or serviced 3 computers for me.

Description of Work: Tom checked both computers for efficiency, speed and virus. He also brought along an additional modem to enhance wireless in my home.

Description of Work: I had Tom set up my new computer at my home. This is about the third time I've used Tom , not counting his responding to my emails to him on various problems. He has never failed to take the time to explain solutions in 'laymans language", so unlike some of the "GEEKS" in the business who expect the customer to have degress in computer tecknology. If you want it done right at the right price , call Tom.

Description of Work: Tom at CPR consulted with us to select the best laptop for our needs, used his knowledge of the market and special purchasing arrangements to get the best deal, configured the laptop, transferred the data from our old (dead) laptop, then came to our house to show us how to use th new one. Complete one stop shopping for the entire purchasing and installation process. We also had him help us buy the software that we needed (some of which turned out to be freeware that performs better than software that you would have to pay for), and a second monitor and the software to drive it. Once the computer was purchased, configured with the software that we wanted and the data transferred, he came to our house to set it up and help us connect it to our wireless printer. Update - October 2013 We were experiencing a bizarre problem that we created by having a wireless mouse and keyboard combo. We used the mouse, but never the keyboard, and failed to remove the batteries from the keyboard. After some books fell over onto the mouse and depressed the control key constantly, any keystroke on the installed keyboard would respond as if the control key was also pressed. A truly dunderhead move on our part, and not one that would be easy to catch (the wireless keyboard wasn't even in sight when Tom came to fix the problem). Tom solved the mystery, and while he was here was able to fix a number of other minor problems and generally make the computer run faster. I learned (again) the importance of taking notes of Tom's advice and keeping them handy, as I vaguely remembered Tom teaching me several of the tips on how to keep the computer humming when bought and installed the laptop for us.

Description of Work: Tom Hernden has been our computer tech of choice for many years. He is so helpful and easy to talk to - I often call him when I have a question or concern, and if he cannot answer the phone at that moment, he is quick to call me back and resolve my issues. This month, my Outlook email program unexplainedly became very sluggish and unresponsive, so I called Tom. He came out and diagnosed the problem - too many emails had been saved on a very old computer an inferior processor. This led him to recommend we buy a refurbished Dell computer, which we decided was a good idea. About 7-10 days later, it arrived and he brought it by and made the conversion. We ran into some problems with my ancient HP Laserjet 4000 printer not communicating with the Windows 7 64-bit configuration. Tom spent extra hours, working overtime from what he had quoted for the price, and did not charge us a penny more than he quoted! We will continue to use CPR whenever our computers need fixing. He is honest and dependable, and he knows his stuff!

Description of Work: Mr. Tom Hernden assisted both my husband and myself in comprehending all the "how tos" in changing from one service to another. He explained the nuances of creating different fonts, colors and artistic touches to email which my wife had long wished to master. No matter how many times he had to repeat a process, he did so very patiently. He dealt with dozens of items in a minimum amount of time.He answered every question posed with expert knowledge. Most important was to "teach" us how to personally handle each problem.He was humorous, down to earth and explained items in language we would understand.We have had four instructors at varying times in the past, but TOM far surpassed all of them. Description of Work: Once again Tom saves our computer/files and provides ways to keep the old computer going. We were having internet access/wireless problems. Tom provided some free advice over the phone - SAME day we called. When that was only part of the solution, Tom came out to the house, looked at the situation and got us back on line. He also advised that indeed we need to upgrade/update a laptop that we have been using about 10 years - that he has kept running, quite often for free.In this computer age, finding the competence, agility and personal attention that Tom provides is unbelievable. Not only does he quickly diagnose the problem, but provides temporary and long term solutions THAT WORK! I have worked with computer techs all over the world and the quality Tom provides is beyond peer. You can take your problem to one of the high tech (expensive) computer stores and wait or CALL TOM and get your problem taken care of. I'll keep calling Tom.
