CPR - Computer Problem Resolutions

Spoke with me for over 30 minutes with lots of good recommendations that i c poo uld do on my own. Though he diagnosed my problem in 6 minutes. Very good info thank you. Works out of his home so he only makes housecalls.

He arrived witin the hour and started work. He spent about an hour and ahalf on it and got it up and running again.

Tom checked everything and made sure I was satisfied with all of my concerns before he left. He is not only very knowledgeable but has the people skills to communicate and teach. That is rare. I appreciated the analogies he gave me to learn how to approach the internet in this ever changing environment. I likened it to the old story about giving a man a fish and feeding him for one day but teaching him how to fish, etc. He is honest. This is someone you want on your team whether you have a business or you are like me. Thank you, Tom.

Tom is the greatest! I don't know anyone else who could have saved the computer data. The information on the hard drive was critical and I would not have been able to recover it if Tom hadn't been able to retrieve it for me. He also made several excellent suggestions about how to fix the computer so that problems would not happen in the future. The greatest thing Tom did was to recover all my data from the failed drive and restore it to a solid state drive that does not have a disk that can fail. This took a lot of work and effort but Tom did the work quickly and with the highest quality. I would highly recommend him to anyone with a computer problem.

He addressed all problems, installed a better router and made suggestions for future performance issues.

It was a painless experience. I use my computer for work a lot so it was imperative that my down time be minimized and Tom understood that. He also does not try to over sell anything. He provided good advice on how to get a good computer for the best price.

I talked to him on the phone, and he advised us to get a whole new computer. It sure sounded like he knew what he was doing!

Tom Hernden is outstanding! He was responsive when I called and arrived when he said he would. Tom is personable, very knowledgeable, and efficient. IT people I have used in the past have not been communicative. Tom not only fixed my computer, but EXPLAINED what he was doing as he went along in terms I could understand. He stayed as long as necessary to get the job right. I was amazed at all of the things he taught me about my computer and he gave me a number of tips on how to keep it running properly. His price was very good. I am impressed with him and his service and, in fact, I recommended him to a friend the very next day and will continue to recommend him. I will definitely call upon him again when my computer needs a repairs.

The work to straighten out the computer problems took only about 30-45minutes. It could be scheduled at a time before I had to go to work. I now bring my work home in the form of studies to be completed at home on my own time. Having a functional computer so that I can work from home is essential. Mr Hernden is able to work people into his schedule fairly easily and promptly.

My home computer crashed, and after reading Tom's reviews on Angie's List I gave him a call. To my surprise, Tom spent half an hour free of charge discussing the issue with me and recommending solutions I could undertake on my own. Over several calls we continued to discuss the problem, until we were finally able to isolate the culprit - a bad motherboard. Since my PC was 7-8 years old, Tom recommended that I purchase a new computer. It would have been easy to put my old hard drive in the new PC, but my problem was that my data was not simple to recover. My old PC had two drives set up in a RAID-0 configuration - a highly dangerous configuration that is fast but can result in catastrophe if one of the drives fails. The old PC saw the drives as one unit (the C drive), but the data was spread out between both drives. My new PC would have no way to figure out how to read the two drives as one drive, effectively causing me to lose 7-8 years worth of family photos and videos. A disaster. After talking to Tom about the importance of retrieving the data from my old drives, he picked the old unit up and began to research a solution. Working with RAID-0 is troublesome and can easily result in the loss of all data, so Tom wanted to be sure he had the right fix before trying to recover my data. After a couple of weeks, and many internet searches, a working solution was finally found. Tom implemented the fix and sent me an email - "I've got the drives running and all your data is here." He backed up the data to a new drive and dropped it off to me. I hooked up the backup drive to my new PC and copied over all of the data - everything was intact. Tom did a tremendous job, and possibly saved my life from a wife furious over the loss of all of the photos of our young children. He was professional, courteous, honest, reasonable, and an absolute pleasure to talk to. There is a reason he is so highly rated on Angie's List - it is because he deserves it. The computer is running much faster and my wife is happy that she can enjoy her pogo games again

I had purchased a new computer with Windows 8 because my computer's power supply had died and since my computer was 5 years old I would just go ahead and invest in a new computer. Come to find out I hated Windows 8 and I wanted to return the computer I purchased and get my old computer fixed with a new power supply. I called Tom and he was very personable and we set up a time for Saturday. I did get a call from he saying he was tied up with another customer and would not be able to get to me until Monday which was OK with me. He arrived Monday on time and worked on my computer having to go buy a power supply. He got my old computer up and running and the price was very reasonable. Said if I had any problems just give him a call and he would take care of them. All has been good since.

If I had been in a huge hurry, it would have been necessary to mail or drive the laptop to Tom's home, which would be costly; instead, Tom picked up and dropped off the computer when he was in the neighborhood to see other clients. That saved me money and was very convenient. Tom doesn't just fix your problem. He explains everything to you in however much detail you're interested in hearing (and sometimes even more -- sorry, Tom!). When he dropped off the laptop and DVDs at my home, he offered to take the e-mail files from the DVDs and import them into Microsoft Outlook for me, which was very generous of him. I declined, but probably should have let him do it! Tom was generous in other ways. When I initially e-mailed him about the possibility of copying files off the laptop, I asked him about a worm/bug (Snap.do) that had infected my wife's computer as well as my own new one. Tom gave me exhaustive instructions and advice on how to get rid of it. So what did Tom charge for all this? $70. I insisted on paying him $100 instead, not because I'm a great guy, but because he earned it. I'd definitely recommend him for your computer-repair needs.

Tom Hernden is very skilled in dealing with computer viruses and maleware. He takes the time to help the customer review proper operating practices and how to update and deploy software to safeguard against problems. He is a very friendly person to have working in your home. Prices are very reasonable and I would strongly recommend this company to Angie's List members.

He was as good this time as he was the two previous times we used him. He doesn't charge much, his standard fee for a home visit is about $40 something or $60 something. He goes out of his way to make sure that you understand.

He is very pleasant to work with. You get value for your money and he wants and does give you a great job. I will definitely use him again!

My computer became infected with a malware virus over the holiday weekend. I attempted to remove the virus myself - initially using my licensed anti-virus software which I discovered the virus corrupted. After receiving an exceptionally high price ($200 - $400 based on option) from the offshore tech support for my licensed product I started to look for other resources. I tried some free/trial anti-malware utilities but still was not confident that the virus was completely removed so I searched Angie's list and found CPR. I left a message after business hours on Saturday afternoon. Tom called me the next day (Sunday) to try to setup a time. Because this was over the holiday and Tom was already booked, it was going to be a few days before he could get to me. We discussed what I had already done and Tom educated me on how the utilities I had already used worked and how to best use them. Because he was concerned about not getting to me right away he asked me to try something on my own and walked me through directions over the phone to run a utility that would validate if the virus was completely removed. I went through the steps that Tom provided and the virus was gone. In fact, thanks to the utilities and process Tom recommended, my computer is working even better now. CPR is going on my speed dial.

I called Tom late on a Thursday and made an appointment for the coming Tuesday morning...Of course he was on time, pleasant and easy to be around. It was actually fun speaking with him, watching and learning...Overall, this was the best experience dealing with a profesional. It's all about a great person who knows what he is doing! He did an excellent job of saving all the info (my favorites/files/picture/music) from my old HP tower and transfering it to my new computer. He set up my work e-mail, printer and other programs that needed to be re-loaded. Since I'm typing this report using my new system I can verify that everything is working properly.

Tom is amazing. I can't say enough about his expertise, patience, ability to guide, professionalism, etc. We will hire him again every chance we get !

They were excellent! Tom is a genius, and it took him only minutes to fix what a full time IT administrator could not figure out.

Went great! Tom is very knowledgeable and reasonable. He set up my computer but most importantly was able to retrieve and restore data to my new computer. Also was able to restore my email accounts-which contained important information which I thought were lost. On both occasions when he came to my home, he was extremely thorough-made practical suggestions. We had multiple email and phone conversations which helped expedite the process of installing this new computer prior to him coming to the home to work. Computer recommendations were right on-works like a charm. He explained the technicalities on a level where you could understand. Would not hesitate to call Tom again!

CPR has helped me out with computer problems before. Tom is totally professional and knowledgeable, and his answers to questions are understandable to those of us who are not computer saavy.
