He came out and used lubricants on the garage doors. He gave me an estimate on what it would take to fix my door for $550.00. I thought that was a little bit steep so I got a second opinion and the second opinion stated that I only needed new rollers.

I was pretty happy. They sold me a couple of things but that was what I needed. I got a deal from Angie’s List for $39. I brought a remote control and couple of other things from them. Their price was reasonable. They did what I needed to have done but there was couple of other things that he had to do and he came back and did it but he didn’t charge me extra either. The quality was great.

Technician was very punctual, professional and most of all knowledgeable about their service and the difference between Precision's parts and the use of other companies parts. The technician addressed my problem and gave recommendations, which made it easier as to what options I had. Robert C.
Description of Work: Precision came out and replaced the broken spring on my door. I went with their "Special Package" that upgraded the working part to high grade commercial grade parts. I now have a lifetime warranty and won't have to pay for a broken part again, as long as I own my house. Since my door is over 10 years old and has nickel and dime me for years, I felt this was a great deal. My garage door works better now then it did when it was new. Thanks to Precision for giving me some peace of mind on my heavily use garage door.

True pro! Delivered what he promised. Tech completed the job in less than 2 hours. My door is now perfectly balanced, and it is practically silent.
Description of Work: Took advantage of door safety check package, because I knew something was wrong with my door, just really had no idea what it was. Service tech showed up on time and did a thorough inspection of my door. He showed me the wear and tear on my parts and told me how a smooth, balanced door should work. I decided to go with the door rebuild package, as most of my parts were shot, and I like the peace of mind of the lifetime warranty.

It was great. Last month the garage door came unhooked from the arm but I called and they came right out to reattach it. There was no charge because they stand behind their work. They were here on a timely basis, they were very professional, and they didn’t pressure me about which garage door opener to get.

Precision Garage Door was on time, personable, and took the time to teach me how my garage door works and how to take care of the door properly with annual maitenance. I had no idea the opener doesn't lift the door, the springs do! Ryan, my tech, did a great job and I feel I got more value for his service then he charged. I would highly recomend anyone to try this company. Being a woman I am usually skeptical about service people taking advantage of me. They did not try to over sell me, but taught me what was wrong first, and made recommendations on what I could have done to fix the door. I loved the same day service, and the fact that he was able to do the work at the same time for me.

Had no complaints about the promptness of the service. The reasoning behind my call was because my door was getting stuck going up more times than not. Serviceman got there, did about a 5 min. inspection and told me I needed a new door. After calculating, the estimate was over $2100. Nice guy, explained each serice I needed and treated me well. I was naturally a little upset to know that I needed this done now. I asked if there was any way to fix for the time being and her told me they would only be "taking my money" if they did this. Ok, that's their policy. I still went in search of a second opinion.

Response from Precision Garage Door Service
Customer, Thank you for calling our service. Many times when my techs come out they find doors that are so old there is not much life left in the door. They do not last forever...especially in Florida. With a door that has to have most of the working parts replace, or the panels are rusted or bent, it is a better deal to replace the door and get a whole new manufacturers warranty. There was so much work to do on your door as well as it was deleteing from the attractiveness of your home. Some companies would have grabbed your money and put a band-aide job on it so it work for a short undetermined time. Eventually you would have had to replace it and would have spent a ton of money repairing it and a heftey sum replacing it later. My technicians tell ther truth and give their best recomendation even if the customer does not want to take advantage of it. We don't like to take your money on something we know is not going to do the job.

We purchased a new garage door opener from them several months ago. No problem with that installation and in fact, the service technician was very good and professional. But as the old saying goes, it's how they treat you after the sale. When both of our remote openers and the remote access panel by the garage stopped working at the same time, I called them. Must be your batteries they said. That seemed unlikely since they quit working at the same time and it was only a few months after installation of the system, but OK, I got new batteries. They still didn't work, so I called back and they sent a technician the next day. When the tech arrived, the remotes had started working again. His immediate response: "That'll be $24.95." No interest in trying to find out why they hadn't worked at all the day before, no interest in checking out the system, no interest in determining whether we had done something that caused the remotes to stop working. Just a shrug of the shoulders and a hand out for the check. I finally made him look at the remote access panel; that's when he wanted to know my passcode for it! He was here less than 5 minutes. I don't mind paying for a service call, but I expect actual service for it. And guess what? A few days have passed and the remotes have stopped working again.
Description of Work: I requested a service technician come out to find out why our garage door remotes and remote access panel didn't work and to fix them.

Response from Precision Garage Door Service
Dear Customer. Remotes and Keypads usually stop working for a reason. The first thing we ask the customer to check is the batteries. The remotes and keypads come with a battery already in them that were inserted into the units when they were manufactured. There is no way to know how long the units sat in a warehouse before they were sold and shipped. It can save you a service call if first try putting in new batteries which are not very expensive and you save on paying a service call for us to come out and change a simple battery. The second reason remotes and outside keypads stop working is that one of the safety lights installed on the door has been accidentally knocked out of alignment. It is very simple for the customer to just jiggle them back in to place...saving having to pay a service call. Also dirt and debris or even leaves can get on the eyes which will also cause the remote and or keypad to stop working. All you have to do is simply wipe the eyes clean and everything should work. Also remotes will stop working if someone sets a garbarge can, a rake, or even a stick to close the safety eyes will also stop them from working. We get tons of calls from customers every month with these simple ailments. We try to walk the customer through these home fixes over the phone so they don't have to pay for a service call. After you try these things and it doesn;'t help we then have to come out to check if it a more serious problem At this time we charge a service all of $25 to come out and try and identify the problem. When the tech drove to your house and both units were working, he is required to charge the minimum service call but no charge for parts or labor. I would suggest you try the fixes I suggested in this letter the next time they don't work. Almost 100% of the time if they intermittently don't work it is one of these simple fixes.

My husband called up precision garage doors and they showed him the parts before they could fix it. We showed them the springs that the previous provider had put in the garage doors and they put in new springs for the garage doors. They showed me what was wrong and what the previous provider had did. The previous provider had put in springs of two different sizes instead of the same size. They wanted to charge me $400 to replace the springs but I wanted a different package which was $600 and something. They actually replaced all the old parts with new parts. They were okay and I don't think there is anything wrong with them. They are a little pricey but I'm sick of these garage door problems. I told them I want it to be fixed right and I want somebody to take responsibility for the whole thing. These people pointed out that the garage doors were not properly installed in the first place. A lot of screws in the garage door were not finger tight. They were probably over priced but I was frustrated and wanted someone to get the whole job done right, so I hired them. The grade I'm giving them on price without a comparison is really not a valuable piece of information. I want to give information based on some knowledge and not on guess. I want to give this situation time to fail, before I can actually give them a grade on quality. Their responsiveness was good. When he got out there he did the whole job while I was here in the first visit and I think that's a good grade. They were professional. Time will tell me how better the job they did was but now it's too soon to tell whether I will use them in future or not.

I called at 8:30 am and was told someone could be out between 11 and 1. Received a call at 9 saying the repairman was running a little behind and would be here between 12 and 2...he showed up right at 12. After an inspection of the door, he quoted me the price of $280 for the springs and suggested that the rollers also be replaced for an extra $100. I'm not sure that the rollers really needed to be replaced now, but since he was here and a broken roller would most likely require another service call, he said told him to replace them. The whole job took about an hour and a half. He thoroughly explained how the door operated and was very courteous and professional. Labor and parts backed by warrantee. Good job!

It went well except I was concerned about them quoting a repair for the garage door opener that was missing major parts. The original quote of $100 was only for the gearing when the chain and cable portion was missing and would require replacement for additional dollars after the original $100 repair would not fix the problem. A new garage door opener is no more than $200 for a premium unit. Replacement should have been the recommendation vs. repair of existing. I had to call and cancel the opener repair. Otherwise, the overhaul was satisfactory.

Response from Precision Garage Door Service
Dear Member, Yes you can probably come close to purchasing a garage door for $200 to $250, However you have to also purchase a 7 or 8 ft rail to go with it. Extra angle iron to make sure it is attached securely. then you have to pay someone to install it. It is about the same money as if you would have bought the opener from a reliable garage door company who would have given you a year's warranty on installation. He would have also make sure the springs and balance on the door were correct. If you install a garage door opener yourself and you cannot safely check or wind the springs to balance the door, you can ruin your new opener. Most people do not realize it is the springs that lift the door not the opener. We replace store bought and self installed garage door openers every day because it was improperly installed or the door hardware system needed adjusting for the opener to be safe..

The appointment was set after the evaluation as they said it would take about 5 days to order the door. As promised, five days later they arrived promptly at 8am and told us it would take 4 hours to replace. Three workers went and replaced the door in under the four hours quoted. They checked using the electric opener that the new door fit and was working as planned. They also took the time to show how to raise and lower the door if we lost electricity and use a backup lock in emergencies. We would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Early in January, we started having problems with raising or lowering our garage door using the electric garage door opener. It would open just fine, but not close without needing two people to close and then hold the door in place to make sure it stayed closed. After an evaluation was done, they determined that the garage door had to be replaced as it had gone off the tracks and was in danger of falling. They came out on Feb. 5 to completely replace the garage door with a new one.

I was pleased with the promptness of the service, and thought that the price was reasonable.
Description of Work: The garage door of my condo unit would not open. I specifically flew to Cocoa Beach to get the garage door fixed. The initial handyman I contacted to fix the problem (I thought the opener needed to be reanchored to the concrete) arrived late, at 5 pm - and told me, since we could not get the garage door open at all, that he could not help me. I found Precision in the Yellow Pages, and true to their advertisement -which claimed 24/7 telephone availability, and no charge for evening/weekend calls - someone arrived within 45 minutes. Dusty cleverly got the door open (I was getting a little worried) - and replaced the limiting switch mechanism, swapping it out of one of the newer units he was carrying.

They were courteous and prompt. All business was conducted by phone with me at work and them at my home. When I arrived home they had left unconnected one of my door openers without an explanation. They did not tell me that during the course of their installation they had burned out the automatic light bulb in the unit that comes on when the door opens. The remotes they sold me are of very limited range. I have to depress the switch repeatedly immediately outside the door for it to work. I had to discover for myself that my unconnected door opener (that connects to an outside keypad to open the garage door from the outside) is malfunctioning and has to be replaced.
Description of Work: Replaced circuit board in garage door opener ($95) and a capacitor ($20). Replaced (a repair they claimed was needed) supposedly worn out rollers with new ones (an extra $100 ). Sold me two new remote controls to work with new circuit board-$45 each.
