They arrived one hour late. Unprepared to paint exterior door, though the same door had been shown to person giving estimate The lead painter was courteous and seemed to know his business. The second painter did not seem to know what he was doing and was unprofessional; i.e.: had prolonged potty time as soon as he arrived, asked me for water, talked a lot, used my orchid vase to soak paint brushes and used refrigerator without asking... It took five hours to complete the task! I was in such a hurry to have them out of my house that i cleaned the sink in 1/2 bath, where they had rinsed their paint brush, after they left.. The paint job seems to be OK; however, lesson learned: if i'm paying by the hour, next time i'll know the painting experience before signing on. And, i'll get an estimate of required time in advance I think the lead painter's name is Billy. He was courteous and did me some favors while here. Based on today's experience, i can not recommend this company for painting..

Response from Home Res-Q Inc
We are sorry to hear that you were unsatisfied with your full experience. In response to your review, our crew members were running a bit behind due to traffic from West Pasco to Tampa that morning and we apologize for the delay and inconvenience. The door that you are referring was the door of a neighbor, as we mentioned we may be able to assist as a courtesy to you and your friend - the original estimator was only shown the door at the attended AL member home. Upon arrival to the neighbor's home, Bill noted that yours & the neighbors doors were not the same and the request would require additional prep and time which could not be utilized under this initial agreement. Please also remember, the painting of ceilings and the cut-in on baseboards throughout the home generally are more time consuming that the painting of plain walls. In addition, the 1/2 walls were being painted a lighter color than original, which also requires additional time. The complete job was stated to require 2 Crew Members with at least 7 hours work to complete the job to finish. I am also sorry to hear that the helper seemed to help himself to your home and over-step his welcome. This is very unlike our Crew Members, whom have been with our company for some time now, and completely against our company standards. Next time, please contact our office if there are any concerns or dislikes during the commencement of the job. As we strive to offer the best customer experience, it is difficult to fix what has already been done, yet a quick call to our office while Crew Members are on the job can make a much more satisfying experience.

I recently purchased a one bedroom, one bath condo and wanted it painted before moving in. There was no furniture to be moved or covered, the condo was completely empty. I wanted the walls, baseboards, and inside the closets painted, no doors, ceilings, or other trim. I purchased a deal for 2 painters for one day for $447. I met the estimator at the condo and he told me how much paint to buy and said it would probably take one full day and a few more hours on the second day to finish. It ended up taking almost two and a half days to complete. The extra day and a half was $758, so the final cost was about $1,200. They did do an excellent, professional job and I am very happy with the end result, it just took longer than expected and ended up costing more than expected.

Fantastic job of painting by Chuck wIlls and really liked the owner. He really helped accommodate my needs in allowing me to keep Chuck the painter on the job through out the project until it was done. He was flexible and fair on the pricing and allowed me to keep one person versus the normal crew of one person. Would use them again. Grace

The installation was great. The guys continued to work thru a brief rain shower. Everything was done to expectation. The only problem we had was the initial contact to show what needed to be done. It took multiple phone calls back and forth before the appointment was set, but once this was accomplished everything went great. Plan on using in the future and have recommended them to other people to use.

This is a great company and the employees are excellent. They did a great job on our house with the painting. They painted all interior and it looked as though they weren't even there. They cleaned up after themselves each day. They did my gutters on front of house and that was very well done and timely. We are having them come to do more work on our house. I think everything we do on our house may be done by this company. Highly recommend!!

Outstanding service. Arrived promptly with a professional crew that was courteous and introduced themselves and again reviewed the project. Cleaned and prepared the area and went to work. Fantastic attention to detail ensuring the angles and placement were spot on. Once installed again reviewed all work prior to asking me to check out the work. Then walked through to identify all specifics. Took the time to ensure that I was satisfied with the results - even fixed existing gutter on the pool cage at no charge! A great provider that has uses superior materials (depth, width, weight and attachments) and has first class professionals on their team.

The workers did a good job, and were conscientious. We had a little too much work for them to finish in the allotted time, so I taped, mudded and textured the wall after they were done. It all worked out and our shelves are hung.

Home Res-Q, Inc. is NOT INSURED, NOT BONDED and NOT RECOMMENDED. They are not licensed, they pay an independent contractor to use his license and he is not involved with the company. They will NOT take responsibility for damage to your home. They are NOT capable of painting a front door. They are NOT timely. Their work is NOT professional and Nick, the owner, will argue with you instead of addressing the issues. The company's crew arrived late on Monday at around 10:00. The first day it appeared that the 2-man crew worked relatively well. They took an hour lunch and left before 4:00pm. The crew chief Larry was professional and polite and explained that he was going to add a third to his crew. Our contract was a lump-sum so we weren?t concerned with man-hours or their rather short work day. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the 3-man crew seemed to sit around a LOT. I had to pick up their cigarette butts and trash (see pictures). I was very concerned when one of the employees was washing his paint brushes on my composite decking material. Bad enough he sat around all day, now he was damaging our expensive deck materials. My expressed concern led to Nick?s father coming out on the job and he assured me that this would not continue. He also explained that there was a minor delay with the gutters of which we had to accept. On Thursday, day 4, they applied the final coat of paint to the house. Some of the areas of the house siding was damaged during their preparation and the appearance was unacceptable (see pictures). I provided extra siding to replace the damaged wood. I even offered to repair it between their visits. I was told by Larry that he was instructed by Nick to apply a ?light? coat of paint and finish the job, which completely contradicted our job contract. At the end of the day on Thursday, Larry attempted to primer and paint our front door. The paint blistered, peeled and did not adhere properly. Many different theories were discussed, however nobody seemed to know why this happened. NOT A GOOD ANSWER FROM A ?PROFESSIONAL? PAINTER. Since it was late in the day, Larry asked if he could return on Friday. The door was left unsecured and they returned on Friday. On both Friday and Saturday (days 5 and 6), Home Res-Q?s employees proceeded to disassemble the door. They completely stripped, scrapped and sanded the door and frame. This process DESTROYED our front door. Large scrapes, dents and gouges were made in both the door and its framework (see pictures). The front door was left unsecured during this entire process. On Monday of the following week, a scheduling person called, explaining that the door needed another day to dry and asked if we could wait until Tuesday. On Tuesday (day 9) Larry came out to continue on our door with no success. On Wednesday (day 10), a nice man named Bill came out instead. He agreed that the door was completely destroyed and it required replacing. He also agreed that the areas of siding that were damaged needed repaired, confirming our complaints were valid. He explained that the owner of the company was on vacation and nothing could be done until he returned. I told him that leaving our front door opened for ny longer was not acceptable (7 days was long enough). Bill spent a few hours wrenching the front door closed and locked. The gutter crew installed the gutters as well on this day. Now on the 3rd week, Nick came out to address these issues. His first approach was to argue that he didn?t do the damage. He did a lot of talking, attempting to avoid responsibility. He took lots of pictures & measurements but provided no assurance that he would properly address the damages. Throughout the week he made offers to replace the door but it was going to take 8 (more) weeks and the proposed products were drastically inferior to our original door. At one point Home Res-Q actually asked for final payment. On Friday of week 3, Chuck spent the day repairing the siding material and repainted that area. This specific area was finally ?alright? (certainly not good or great). Chuck also agreed 100% that our front door system requires replacement. We are now on our 5th week. Our door still remains destroyed and unusable. Home Res-Q has not offered a valid solution. They have told us that a Window and Door Permit is not required even though the City of Clearwater & Pinellas County disagree. We requested that this issue be handled by Home Res-Q?s insurance company since they can?t seem to paint a door never mind replace it. Nick informed us that he is NOT INSURED. And now they have threatened legal actions, put a lien on our property and left us with no valid solution to their flagrant destruction of our house. UPDATE: A. We have had numerous professionally licensed contractors (actual individuals who have taken, passed and maintained their contractor?s license) out here to look at this door each of them have assessed the damage to be over $3,000 (quotes have already been provided). B. Each of these professional window and door contractors have clearly stated that a permit is required. The City of Clearwater, Code Enforcement Officer has also stated, ?a permit is required and that simply replacing the door slab is NOT ACCEPTABLE nor would it be able to meet current code?. The permit costs $260. C. Every single contractor that has been consulted has stated that the ENTIRE DOOR SYSTEM IS DAMAGED. This includes the frame, sidelight, jambs, etc. (i.e. the entire door system). There is no such thing as replacing just a door slab and adhering to the building code. D. An exact replica of our 15-Panel Wooden Door would be a custom door and would cost well over $10,000 installed. I have already been willing to compromise on a less appealing design in order to get something produced today. E. We have never received proof of insurance or bonding and therefore it is still our impression that Home Res-Q, Inc. is not covered under insurance or even has a current bond. Based on the advice of Angie?s List, I should have gotten this information in the beginning and certainly should not allow them back on our property without these credentials. Home Res-Q, Inc. claims this information to be public record, yet I can?t seem to find such record. Please provide a link, contact information, or any way that I can view this ?public record?. F. Home Res-Q, Inc. is endorsed by a Mr. Gregory Hickey whom we have never heard from nor has he had any involvement on this job (pretty sure this is frowned upon by the contractor licensing board). I am under the impression that the professional opinion of a licensed contractor would hold more validity than of Ms. Welsh. G. Home Res-Q, Inc. filed a lien at the beginning of August. This is 2 months AFTER they destroyed the main entrance to our home. I feel that this is a flagrant abuse of contractor law and a horrible business practice, never mind an ongoing safety hazard in the event of an emergency egress situation. Ms. Welsh?s statements of replacing just the door slab are unsubstantiated and drastically different from every single professional consulted. In previous discussions with you, they even contradict this statement. After all of this, I think it is obvious that Home Res-Q is unable to offer a reasonable solution. They are drastically off on the value of the damages of which they caused and we still don?t have access through the primary entrance of our home. I am curious to see what company Ms. Welsh proposes (and Angie?s List endorses) that we hire to fix their destruction for 85% less than our lowest bid. What kind of contractor, what kind of workmanship and what kind of materials should we expect for $240??? I have taken great lengths to get multiple professional opinions, verify my information with appropriate governing authorities, and have been 100% reasonable in my request to simply fix the damage they caused. We are in NO WAY trying to upgrade our door we simply want one that works and the work is done correctly. My communications have been factual and verifiable, please insist that Home Res-Q do the same before wasting my time and energy with such preposterous offers as this.
Description of Work: On May 30th, 2014 Home Res-Q, Inc. & Nick Walsh was awarded a contract for painting and installing gutters on our home. The contract included pressure washing, scraping peeling paint, hydraulic cement patching of cracks, caulking windows and doors, applying primer on all walls, painting & back rolling with a finish coat. The contract also included 111' of gutters, downspouts, corners & shields. The total contract was $4,222 and Nick applied an Angie's List discount of 10% (lowering the contract to $3,799.80). The company required that we pay 30% in advance, of which we did ($1,139.94) leaving a balance of $2,659.86 due upon completion. The anticipated job schedule was 3-4 days of prep and painting followed by a partial day for the gutter installation. The job was to be done as a lump-sum contract and we insisted that the job be done correctly, regardless of time. I did not want to get into a discussion about man-hours nor efficiency of the company’s employees.

Response from Home Res-Q Inc
Home Res-Q, Inc. (HRI) is licensed, bonded, and insured as required by the State of Florida and has followed these requirements since 2004. All documents, including those viewable by public record, can be requested at any time. Furthermore, our contractors, owners, employees and/or representatives would never make statements that Home Res-Q, Inc. (HRI) is not insured. Rather than accept the amount to replace the door with one of the same or similar quality and style, it is our understanding you are demanding HRI pay for an entire Pella door system which includes sidelights and other items significantly beyond that quality and style of the door that was damaged. This exceptionally upgraded product would cost in excess of $4000.00. Please note, HRI is willing to compensate you for the door that was damaged but is not interested in upgrading your home beyond what is reasonable as a replacement for the damaged door. This improvement was a referral from a previous customer within the client's neighborhood - the clients who referred them are Angie’s List Member’s. Therefore, we honored a 10% discount on the initial proposal as a thank you for considering the previous client’s referral, not for being an Angie’s List member. The initial estimate was completed on May 30th, and the approval to move forth with the client’s home improvement was done via phone on June 2nd, with a deposit to commence work for installation. Because the improvements consist of two separate service areas offered by our company (seamless gutters and exterior painting), two job numbers and job files were created for accounting purposes; although, the deposit was paid as a lump sum by the client as a courtesy for convenience purposes. Upon arrival to the home for the initial estimate, the client was in progress of personally replacing the rotted, non-repairable wood, which exists as the exterior siding of the home, in preparation for a professional exterior paint improvement. As discussed at the initial consultation, the client was to have all planks of the rotted wood replaced prior to any exterior painting by HRI. Work began with the commencement of the exterior painting by prepping the home as according to the original estimate agreed upon by both clients. It was noted during this process that some of the rotted siding still needed replacing by the client. The client believed all the wood he replaced was sufficient and agreed to continue with the painting of the exterior of the home. However, upon notice of paint flaws by HRI Crew Members, work beyond the initial estimate was completed in efforts to repair the unsightly results due to the previous notion that wood planks still needed to be replaced. The unsightly areas were patched and prepped, with no additional costs to the client, for satisfaction of the exterior paint improvement - these instances caused the improvement to exceed the initial time line. When it came time to prep the exterior door, client wanted their black solid wood door painted “Show Stopper’ Red, so HRI Crew Members prepped and primed the door to accept the new coat of exterior paint. When the first coat of paint was applied, the paint bubbled and peeled off of the primed door during the drying process. The paint supplier was called to discuss the matter and possible effects as well as solutions were discussed – it was determined that the door would need to be stripped in order to accept a new coat of paint. The determined effect was deemed as the result of the high humidity and precipitation causing the primer to hold moisture, creating a void between the door and the primer, resulting in the bubbling and peeling of the exterior paint. HRI Crew Members began to strip the door and apply a new coat of primer. Crew Members worked additional time, even Saturday when the client ordered Crew Members off the property since he was required to leave the residence earlier than our Crew Members anticipated; eventually, due to the residents’ schedule and availability, the door was primed and painted again. The client expressed his dissatisfaction with the door and two additional Crew Leaders (Chuck and Bill), on separate occasions, visited the home to view the door and attempt to rectify the situation. It was determined by all HRI members, owners and the general contractor, that the door should be replaced at no additional costs to the clients. On June 24th, the owner was even in contact with the clients to discuss replacing the door, and sharing photos of equivalent door models for replacement. The response from both parties was that all options shown were ‘inferior’ to the existing damaged door. It was expressed by the clients that they would only accepted the exact-style 15-panel door, which had been offered yet the quoted delivery time was six to eight weeks – the clients claimed this was unacceptable and refused the offer. HRI’s management team attempted to rectify the situation a further time via email to the client, with an extensive selection of available door options in efforts to replace the exterior door. HRI even offered a variety of fiberglass doors to extend the available options in efforts to gain customer satisfaction – no response was received regarding the emailed photos with manufacturer names and model numbers of each available door option (including exact replica 15-panel door options). The only response received after our resolution attempts was a quote for a complete Pella door system from the client, whom owns Total Services & Design Inc. as registered to the State of Florida, demanding the payment for an amount just below $4000.00 to replace the door, door jambs, hinges, side light with windows, as well as door hardware. As mentioned, HRI is willing to compensate the clients for the door that was damaged, but it is not interested in upgrading the clients’ home beyond what is reasonable for the damaged door. Regarding the gutter installation, the improvement was originally scheduled one week prior, yet the client wanted to confirm with his girlfriend (2nd client), causing a delay in installation. The gutters were installed on June 18th, the improvement was deemed satisfactory by the clients. The invoice was sent via email upon completion of the improvement and clients refused to remit payment for the gutter installation due to the dissatisfaction of the exterior door. No matter how we explained the separate services, payment is still refused. *We did receive the complaint from the client regarding one of our Crew Members smoking at the front of the home and washing his paint brushes within range of the client’s composite deck at the rear of the home; a meeting was held with this individual Crew Member and the management team of HRI to discuss the matter as well as the expectations of our company; it was agreed that there would not be any future complaints for the same or similar offense(s) by this Crew Member.

Nick Walsh is who I dealt with from Home Res Q. I had purchased a Big Deal from Angie's list for gutters, but that actual deal did not apply to what I needed. Nick was very understanding and performed the work and agreed to let me pay when I got the refund from the Big Deal I had purchased. They were very punctual and professional. I was very pleased with the work that they did.

It could have been a good deal but he estimated and i told them to bring the paint, they didn't. When they got the paint, the equipment wasn't working right. I told them i wanted the ceiling done and then they said they didn't say that. It took a while, they did a good job but then they wanted to charge me more. So i ended up paying for the paint. He wasn't happy with me either. They had said 4 hours of painting. They do no keep their word.

It went okay. It's a company that does a lot of different things and I think I could have gotten a better downspout installation from a gutter company. They were prompt. They came out in a timely fashion. They took care of me when they said they'd take care of me. I had no problems with the service. I just think the installation could have been a little cleaner. I didn't get competitive pricing from gutter companies. When they came down with the downspout, my siding stressed out a little bit more on the second floor and they didn't put a little bend in the downspout to go into the wall so the downspout is about an inch off the wall there. They needed to put a bend in there.
Description of Work: I used them for gutters and downspouts.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding our company. We do many different things but gutter we do the most of completing 4-5 jobs a day. We strive to have great customer service and we also offer warranties on all of our work so we would be happy to service as long as it falls under our time frame for the warranty.

Excellent job. I bought one of their special deals, and they did not attempt to sell me more services. Came on time, were quick and efficient. Would certainly use them again.

The owner of the company comes out to see and price all the jobs. That's good. He is very professional and personable. I called them to have tile work done. I already had all of the material. So I really just needed the labor. I was looking to have two rooms done and a hallway. I thought that that was a little to pricey. So I did not use them.

The service provider was very gracious, prompt, understanding, and clean, but we decided that this Big Deal wouldn't suite our specific needs. I would use this company for future gutter work though.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for $349 for 50 feet of high capacity, 6-inch gutter or downspout installation.

They did a great job and there was no hassle. They did a good job with the gutters so I definitely recommend them. They did it for half a day; I was not sure because I was at work.

Overall, it was pretty good, they did a pretty good job, we could have expect more but it was pretty efficient, there was just a little clean up issues, they could have focused more. They just set things in stone, just kinda make sure that everything is clarified as far as dates, there'e just small issue, I think there kinda overloaded, were happy that were expecting a little bit more. Price was reasonable, that was good.
Description of Work: They converted a loft into a bedroom, installed closets and they closed some arches and put a door.

I wouldn't recommend them at all. They did a good job but he ended up charging me more. The guy who was working here could have fixed it but he said he needed another guy to come out and he charged me more. I bought the Deal off of Angie's List but he said that removing the gutters and putting them back on does not include it. So I had to pay extra. He said that he would have to have another guy come in to put the gutters back in. I used them because they had a good deal and it was something I needed to be done. The owner of the company wasn't very pleasant.
Description of Work: I used Home Res-Q Inc for gutter replacement and repair. Under the gutters, there was a little wood that was rotting away and he replaced that.

Our gutter deal covers gutter installation only, if you needed wood to be replaced then it would be another charge. We apologize that you encountered another charge but we can not control the wood rotting on your home and it needing to be replaced. Thank you for stating we completed and did a good job in your review. We never leave a job unfinished. Our gutter installers only install gutter, they do not complete wood work which is why you need two different crews to come out and finish this project for you. We apologize you feel the owner was unfriendly. We strive to have the best customer service for all of our customers and to make them happy so they would like to return as customers to Home Res Q. Again we apologize for your unfortunate events on your home, and thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding our company.

It went well. However, Home Res-Q and I could not agree on a final price for the entire job and I just did the painting myself.
