Description of Work: I received proposals for repair/replacement of a leaking flat roof from three roofing companies, all from Angie's List. The company rep definitely seemed knowledgeable but I ended up choosing a different company. The company that I selected spent substantially more time investigating the leak problem and analyzing it (it was a complicated situation involving the abutment of two flat and one pitched roofs joining together in the area of the leak). They recommended replacing only one of the two flat roofs, whereas Earl Johnston quoted me for both (two) flat roofs. As a consequence, the price (for the single flat roof) was less. So based on a lessor price (for a less extensive repair) and amount of time devoted to the initial consultation, I went with the other company.

Description of Work: They came out to investigate a potential leak in my skylights. They were on time, professional, and courteous. There was no leak, however I have scheduled them to come back and replace my skylights.

Description of Work: Surveyed the problem with the roof from up in the attic area. Found the leaking problem we had and took photos of the area. During his inspection of the attic he found a second problem that was missed by another company and took photos also.gave us a quote and we agreed to have thme do the job.They were prompt and professional. We will use them for any further roofing needs.

Description of Work: We had a very small leak in our barrel tile roof. We called another company just based on their very frequesnt radio commercials on a local AM station here. They gave us an estimate of almost $5000 with all kinds of "not included" and "not responsible" wording in their estimate. It took them several days to give us the estimate in the first place, and then when we questioned the price, they said they would give us a break, and then sent us the very same estimate of $5000. We decided to join Angies list, and were shocked to see this very advertised company rated B-. We checked ou tthe "A" companies that were close to our neighborhood and got three quotes. The roof repair for these "A" rated companies ranged from $600 to $800 . All gave us their quote while they were in the driveway. Mike Wilde from Earl Johnson did the quote, and he impressed us with his professionalism. They were not the cheapest quote, but we felt they would do the best work. They scheduled the repair within just a couple of days, and they did the work perfectly. Mike also gave me a quote to power wash our very large roof, and to apply a solution to prevent future mold growth on the tile, for three years. That's why the final price was over $2200. It was still less than half the cash outlay we would have had with the very advertised company with the catchy jingle on the radio. It pays to use Angies list. I would recommend Earl Johnson and Mike Wilde.

MY POINT IN THIS IS. EVALUATE EACH ESTIMATE FOR THE WORK YOU REALLY NEED,AND DO INVESTIGATION AS TO WHAT YOU WILL GET AND WARRANTEE ETC. THIS IS A COST YOU DON'T WANT TO MISTAKE ON, AND THESE GUYS KNOW HOW TO LET YOU DO THAT.

A great crew of 4 workers came out to the house and expertly finished the job in a couple of hours and then surprised me with the quality and thoroughness of their clean-up. Description of Work: We had a re-roof done that included fascia and soffit board replacements, The job also included two flat roof replacements. We spoke with several roofers on Angie's list and feel we got the biggest bang for our buck from Johnston's. The job also included replacement of gutters. We got lucky because they got the entire job, including the gutters, done just before we had these amazing October rains. It has rained in torrents and it was a good test of the new roof and gutters. Mike came and did the estimate and was our contact person and couldn't have been more polite and professional. The men who came and stripped our roof were also courteous and professional and did a great clean up job. The man who actually installed the roof was pleasant and professional and couldn't have been nicer. All in all it was a great experience.

Description of Work: Earl W Johnston Roofing Inc. came out to repair my roof, didn’t have the tile to repair the roof , had to wait on the tile , had damage to pictures in house. Said they would send crew but I requested Mr. Johnston to come out himself. I wanted him to explain to me why the work had been done like this. A worker named Rick came out instead , and I explained the issues I had to him. The tile looks horrible. They didn’t glue the tiles to the foundation of the house. There are gaps and holes in the roof. If somebody came to look at my roof they would agree it needs to be fixed from the damage they caused. The tile doesn’t start from the begging of the foundation. The wood under the tile is showing and I believe it need to be replaced. I am very dissatisfied with the job they did.

Description of Work: They repaired a leak in my roof. The original estimate was provided on 07/07/09. I accepted the estimate and was advised that they would complete the work within two weeks. I was advised three days in advance of the actual work day and I was called to confirm the time on the work day. The work was completed on time and more importantly the leak was repaired. I joined Angie's list to obtain a quality provider and I was not disappointed.

Mike came over on time and quickly did the inspection, asked some relevant questions, went online in his truck to find required information that was on file with the building permit dept. and filled out the report. He took pictures (also required) and emailed them later to us.

What can I say? These guys and gals were the most professional and polite group of people I have ever dealt with in any service industry. The job was done on time, on budget, and best of all, it was done right. I have nothing but the best to say about these folks and hope they are there when the next bad calamity hits South Florida.
