Our experience was very good. We compared prices between two roofers, and the other company's price was more competitive, so we went with them. But this company was extremely thorough and responsive.

I was in a hurry because the house could not sell until the roof was replaced and the purchase contract time for completion was tight. I could not take a chance on a delay caused by an unorganized company. (we all know how Miami can be) Mike came out immediately and gave me an estimate that was competitive with other companies. I chose them primarily because of the reviews on Angie's list and their reputation in the industry. They diid everything they promised and Meg, the scheduler in the office, kept in constant touch with me because she realized I was anxious about the completion. She always returned my call within a few hours. There were a few hick-ups, but they took care of them and did not let things linger.

I had the roof pressure cleaned and treated with a chemical to prevent mold and mildew from returning again. I am very happy with my experience with Mike the salesman.

They used a chemical in their pressure washing that took the mold off my roof. It took them two or three phone calls to call me back to set up the appointment; I had to get a little agitated with them to get them to come out and do the work. I think they were priced well and they will come back within two years if I have problems with their work. I will use them again in the future.

Earl was prompt and friendly. The work crew was on time, did the job and left the area neat and clean.

1) The initial meeting went very well. The actual owner came out to give the initial estimate. He was prompt, courteous, and very professional. 2) On the night before the appointment, I was told that the crew would arrive between 8 and 8:30 AM. Since it was a work day, I scheduled my day around them arriving not later than 8:30. They did not arrive until 8:45, thus causing me to reschedule a morning meeting. It was an annoyance, but they were very nice and I was able to work around it. 3) Overall, the job went well. Once the workers found the issue, they fully explained the problem and resolved it. After the job, the owner reinforced his committment to warranty the work that was done.

I contacted Earl W. Johnston Roofing on a Friday and the very next day, Saturday, Mike, from the company came out to give me an estimate. Mike was on time and very professional. The repair job was scheduled within about one week. Jimmy and Jean were the repair crew and arrived on time . It was clear to me that they knew what they were doing. I was up on the roof watching them work and was impressed with their skill - very professional and careful. My roof may develop a leak elsewhere, but not in the valley they repaired. They did a nice job resetting the tile too. Great job!

This may be a bit different of a review as I didn't use Earl Johnston Roofing as a friend was able to take care of my needs but i was so impressed by Earl when he came to provide me with an estimate that i felt compelled to send in a note.I was able to schedule an appt very quickly (even after the week of crazy rain!) and spoke with Mary in the office--she was very professional and spent a few minutes with me talking through my issue. I felt that she cared.Earl came out a few days later and i was so impressed to get "Earl" to come out! He was very patient with all of my questions--goofy and not so goofy...talked about what the work would entail, the time, pros and cons and spent quality time at my home..on my roof and just talking with me about the work. He was genuine--no strings--no fancy sales job--just real people..and he knows his stuff! Forgive me for saying this..but that is not an easy or a regular thing to come by here in South Florida.Due to a personal friend being able to take care of my roof problem i didnt hire Earl Johnston Roofing, but they will be the first on my list if i ever do need to hire a Roofer and/or if someone was to ask me for a roofer referral!

So far very satisfied, waiting for first hard rain.

I requested a quote by using the "Request a Quote" form on their website. They called me the next day to arrange a time for someone to come and inspect my roof an provide a quote. The inspector arrived at the scheduled time and provide a quote with a reasonable price. The crew did arrive about 2 hours past the time we had scheduled, but they did phone me several time to keep me updated on the status and when they arrived in the late afternoon they stayed until the job was completed. The crew was very professional and I am very happy with the results.

I contacted this company and 3 others to provide us with an estimate on a roof repair for our home. They were very responsive in scheduling the appointment and very punctual in getting to our house. The person who came for the estimate, Mike, was very professional and thorough in the inspection of the damage, went to see the attic, etc. I was very impressed with his level of professionalism and thoroughness overall. He had an iPad where he was able to show me pictures of the damage. The other companies also showed pictures from their cameras, which was great, but the iPad I thought set them apart from the rest... Though we did not select them to do the repair, we would definitely consider them in the future again for an estimate or the job.

We had a chronic roof leak for months that was not fixed properly by a prior roofing company. I called Earl Johnston for an estimate on a roof leak, and they came out the following day. Mike came out, and was very friendly and professional. He answered all my questions, and quickly got to work to figure out the problem. He climbed into our attic and took some pictures of the problem area. He then climbed onto the roof and took more photos. I got to see what a terrible job the prior roofing company did on my roof! He quoted out the repair (at a reasonable cost, in my opinion) and his crew came out the following day to complete the job. They cleaned up after themselves, and the crew was very nice (even to my annoying 3 year old that followed them around). We waited a month to submit a report just to be sure the leak was truly gone! I'm happy to report that several storms later, we are pleased not to hear the dripping any longer! I will absolutely use this company again in the future for any roof repairs/replacement. Their kind, professional staff deserve 5 stars for their customer care and efficiency. I'd highly recommend them to friends and family.

My elderly mother's home had a persistent roof leak. We selected three of the most highly-rated roofing repair companies in our area from Angie's List. Earl Johnston Roofing's representative, Mike, was the most thorough in investigating the leaks. All three looked at the damage inside and visually inspected the damage on the outside. Mike was the only one of the three to examine inside the attic crawlspace and was the only one to identify upfront the second leak near the valley. This alone made us feel most comfortable selecting Earl Johnston, but an additional benefit was that their estimate was 30% lower than those of the other two companies. The day of the repair, Jimmy and his coworker arrived on time, thoroughly explained what they planned to do, and over the course of the day completed the repairs. They removed tiles bordering the valley and completely replaced the valley with roofing paper under and on top of the valley. They repaired the second leak by replacing wood, roofing paper, sealing it in and replacing the barrel tile around both areas. I asked Jimmy if he could also cement a crack in a wall over an AC unit and caulk two areas around the woodwork under the flashing. These were minor repairs outside of the scope of work which he gladly did, saying it was his pleasure. They thoroughly cleaned up all materials and debris and left the area spotless. Everyone we met from Earl Johnston Roofing was pleasant, professional and courteous. This experience far exceeded our expectations.

Excellent experience from start to finish! Even after completion of my new roof. Everyone in the office has gone out of their way to help with insurance documentation, gutter replacement, etc.

On Tue., Oct. 4, 2011, we contacted Earl Johnston Roofing through a link to their website from their listing on Angie's List and sent a request for an estimate for a new metal roof. On Wed., Oct. 5th, we received an email from Mary at Earl Johnston Roofing stating (in all caps) "WE GOT YOUR INFORMATION FOR THE ROOF ESTIMATE. WE WILL CONTACT YOU BY PHONE AS SOON AS WE ARE ABLE TO SCHEDULE THE ESTIMATE." Additionally, Mary asked if there was a time or day that was better for us in order to assist her with scheduling and we replied that our schedules were flexible and gave her a few dates. One week and two days later, on Friday, October 14th, without ever receiving that promised phone call or even an email, someone from Earl Johnston Roofing showed up unannounced to do the estimate just as we were leaving for an appointment. When we told him we weren't expecting him he said he was diverted to our house unexpectedly. We told him we had to leave and he said he would do the estimate and that someone would be calling us later with the figures. It is now October 19th, and it's been more than two weeks since we first contacted Earl Johnston Roofing. As of th is date we still have not received a single phone call, a follow-up email or, most importantly, an estimate from them. We selected Earl Johnston Roofing because they had some of the best reviews and ratings and their website states that they do business in Miami as well as Ft. Lauderdale. I guess Palmetto Bay is too far south for them. Their loss! At this point we have contracted with another roofer.

Before they actually began work on the roof (during the permitting process) we discovered a leak in our garage & decided to call them out to fix it. They came out and explained what was wrong and what they needed to do to fix it. We agreed to the $1,225 estimate and they came out the next day & did the repairs. They actually corrected a problem our previous roofer only patched. After receiving the permit, the original job was scheduled. They called me at 8:15 the morning of the job to advise they would have to reschedule for the next day because the rain chance was too great. They came out the next day and were able to get the roof waterproofed before the rain started. Since it was only misting they continued & completed the roof that day just before it got dark. They passed both inspections by the city on the first go around. I feel they treated my house as they were re-roofing their own. Mike also told us of a problem they found with our chimney & advised what we should do to have it repaired since it was not something their company does. He also told us of several broken tiles on the main roof that may have been broken by the cleaning person stepping on the tiles incorrectly. I will call them again if I ever need any roofing work done and recommend them to anyone who mentions they are going to have roofing work done. This is what customer service should be!

We were very happy with this company. While they said that our roof looked very good, they don't do the Citizens certifications. We were pleased with them and would hire them in the future if we need roof work.

Came out to evaluate and submit an estimate for a roof leak repair. After being hired they came promptly when scheduled and completed the repairs very quickly and professionally. They were honest, competent, and efficient. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality and cost for their services.

As it turned out, the roof was not really a problem and, without hesitation, he got a ladder and fixed my gutter problem. He refused to take any payment. He was friendly and professional, providing me with useful advice. He even took a photo of the repair he made to the gutter to show me exactly what he had done.

After calling highly rated roofing companies from Angie's list and getting 2 quotes, we decided to hire Earl Johnston roofing. Mike came to our house and spent 2 hours trying to properly diagnose the problem when providing our estimate. He wasn't 100% sure of the exact location of the leak, but offered up all the possible scenarios and how much each would cost. His highest cost scenario was still half the other estimate we received and we trusted he would do right by us after hearing how much trouble we've had. And we were right. His team arrived on time and worked for almost 12 hours in the blazing sun. I went up on the roof multiple times to check their progress (since I had been on the roof many times with the other roofers) and Jimmy answered all my questions and showed me the problem areas when they had removed the tiles and paper and were down to the wood. They were extremely confident that they had gotten to all the problem areas (there were more than one) and I could tell they knew what they were doing. I've been waiting to post my review until I was certain the leak was fixed, but we've had several huge rain storms over the past few weeks and I think our troubles are finally behind us. We highly recommend the professionals at Earl Johnston Roofing and thank them for solving our problem and putting our mind at ease.

AMAZING. The entire experience exceeded my expectations. I had contacted approximately 10 companies before contacting this company for the reroofing of my home. From my first phone call to them they responded professionally - always managed expectations, came to every appointment, were always on time and prepared, answered all questions and made helpful suggestions. Once the project was started the entire team that Earl has put together worked incredibly well. The office staff always let me know the status of the project and what I should expect next and in what period of time. Each of the members of the team did their job beautifully. The entire project was completed in less than two weeks start to finish (permits and all) even with all the rain we've had. I love the finished product! I hope never to have to reroof my home againg but Earl W. Johnston Roofing Inc. will be the only call I make for any roofing needs that I might have. I am very grateful to Earl and his entire team (Steve, Meg, and all the others) for making this project so painless.

Earl came out himself. He looked at the roof and advised me to do nothing now. He gave me an estimate for a new roof should I need it in the future. If or when I need a new roof or repairs I will definitely call him again and I think his price would be competitive. It is difficult to be a new resident of Fort Lauderdale when it comes to contractors, I have already had a very bad experience. Since he didn't do anything I can't comment on his work, but I will say I can recommend callingl him. I have a high degree of gratitude for someone who spends an hour with me and tells me to do nothing for now and why in great detail. I have had several other roofers come out and all telling me something different, with a price. I believe Earl has integrity. Thanks Earl.

Very well. I did have to wait a few days for the appointment, but the appointment was set at Noon, and he called and asked if he could come earlier which was better for me. He took pictures while on the roof to show me exactly to what he was referring. Even though I'm not sure of the exact terminology, I hope I described everything above in an understandable manner. I was very happy with this company. A good friend of mine (after I had made the appointment) was trying to remember a roofer she had had that was great and when she remembered, it was Earl Johnston Roofing. Definitely recommend.

Started repairs the day after my phone call and the initial inspection. Shown photos of the two story flat roof issues. Was given the choice of just the repairs or repairs with an entire roof coating along with a rebate from FP&L. Repairs were done quickly. After FP&L came to inspect and then approve the rebate, the roof was first totally cleaned and washed by one crew, then the coating was applied a few days later by another crew. Very pleased.

Please see above... this is the second time I have called this company. Both times they have been amazing.
