Called them based on reviews on Angie's List to look at a small area on our flat patio roof that was exhibiting a need for repair. They came out for a free estimate that worked around our schedule. They inspected the whole roof even though we only needed one area of the patio roof to be looked at. They were honest and indicated that indeed only the small area that we had noticed was the issue. Overall the price seemed a bit high based on the nature of the repair (approx. 2'x4' of plywood that needed to be replaced, plus mastic, sealer, etc.) and other indications we had as to how much it would cost to repair, but we appreciated their honesty overall and the professionalism so we decided to have them do the job. I also relied on the reviews here to arrive at that decision. A handyman could have done the job for less but we opted to use an established roofer for added peace of mind. They honored the 10% coupon the Angie's List website. They offered to come back the next business day to do the repair, but we opted to wait a few days for scheduling purposes. The job took about 2-3 hours. As far as I can tell it's fine. It hasn't rained yet so time will tell. From a distance I can see that the repaired area of the flat roof is a little "higher" that the adjacent area, but it's in the backyard and you have to be looking at a distance to see it. Likely it's just a cosmetic issue. We'll have to look closer to see, and again, time will tell. The repair team was nice (2 individuals) and they showed up when they said they would (they also called when they were en route) so I have no qualms about their professionalism or punctuality. The office staff is pleasant and competent as well. For larger projects though, I definitely would shop around more, as I imagine most people do anyway when repairing something as expensive as a roof. Overall, they were pleasant to work with, the transaction was smooth and the work was done as planned/scheduled. That's worth a good review.

This was an excellent and seamless process. "Mike" showed up on time and was very professional and helpful. With their 10% discount offered to "Angie's List" customers the price was very fair. I accepted the proposal. Work was started and completed three days later by "Jimmy" and his crew of two. The work was completed in one day. Jimmy, too, was extremely professional and a true pleasure to deal with. Their work was very clean and neat. I will definitely use this company for future roofing needs. It was a good experience from the start with appointment scheduling with Jessie, two meetings with Sales Rep, Al Hernandez, job scheduling with Meg and an on-time finish with roofers, Jimmy and Isreal. The price was competitive and the work was approved by the Village of Palmetto Bay Building Dept. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

Everything went well other than scheduling for an estimate and then the actual job. They were very responsive yet booked in terms of how soon they could do estimate. Scheduling was the one thing that could be better and giving customers more heads up on when they are arriving to repair. Other than that, from the onset, I dealt with four people. First, the estimator who was professional, on time, thorough and very polite. Then the administrative staff, Jen (I think her name was), we spoke on the phone and even though I was not very happy about the scheduling, she was professional, polite and honest on the few times we spoke. Finally, the two employees that did the actual work. They were on time, very professional and thorough. As far as we know, the job was done well though it is difficult to know as it is on the roof. Time will tell. I highly recommend this company and feel confident in the job performed, cost and professionalism shown.

The estimator arrived as scheculed and determined that the roof really did need to be replaced. They handled getting the building permit. The office staff was helpful and kept me posted on when the work would start and what the status was. The work was finished in a timely manner.

If you're a homeowner in S. Florida, you have probably experienced what my neighbors and I have. Until recently. Any roofing company will charge anywhere between $600-$1000 to step on your roof and do ANYTHING in the way of roof repair. You might have even met the guy who drives down the street after a storm (licensed and insured) promising he'll fix your roof for a flat rate of $850-sight unseen. He'll look at it for 5 minutes if you challenge him. He'll even lie and tell you your Homeowners Association referred him. You'll pay over and over for the same repairs, continue to have damage, (worse than before) find out later that they slapped a little asphalt around or replaced a few tiles. Nothing done to standard, temporary fixes just long enough to last while they disappear into the night. Unless you want to pay them to prematurely replace the entire roof. Day after day. Same crap. Different day. No wonder the roofing industry gets such a bad rap. Thank goodness for Angie's list. Reputable roofers who spend 30 minutes to an hour assessing the roof, take digital pictures, put every detail of product use and repair in writing. Consistency in their damage assessment / estimates. One in particular stood out. Earl W. Johnston Roofing. Every interaction professional and customer oriented. From the office answering the phones to the roof repair team-timely, courteous, honest and knowledgeable. Mike Wilde , Sales representative is a Saint! Patient, personable, detail oriented, excellent communicator. competitive pricing. He goes "above and beyond the call of duty" in answering questions, explaining, putting together detailed estimates. He understands navigating the insurance process. He and his office refer sources for other work or advise that is high caliber. The roofers doing the repair worked from 8 am to just about dark, barely taking a break to get the job done. They worked clean, were professional and were a positive reflection for the company. You can't imagine how stupid I felt. They're up on a hot roof all day. I prodded them a couple of times to take a break or cool off. But, completely forgot to give them the water I put in the freezer./fridge for them. Still, nary a complaint and they thanked me profusely as if I were the kindest person in the world. In my opinion, you can't pay enough for this quality of work and level of service. And no words can totally describe the difference until you personally experience it. Earl Johnston, Mike, the office and repair teams set the standard and raise the bar and are an asset to the roofing industry. I will use them again and will proudly refer them.

THE S.E. CEILING OF THE GARAGE HAD WATER STAINS THAT APPEARED DURING THE SUMMER RAINS. SALES MANAGER MIKE INSPECTED THA GARAGE ATTIC AND ROOF AREA AND TOOK PICTURES OF THE LEAK AREA AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE ROOF.A WRITTEN PROPOSAL WAS PRESENTED AND WHILE IT WAS NOT THE LOWEST PROPOSAL IT WAS MORE COMPLETE AND BETTER IDENTIFIED THE WORK TO BE COMPLETED THAN THE OTHER PROPOSALS. THE WORK WAS PERFORMED BY COMPANY EMPLOYEES IN A PROFESSIONAL AND COMPETANT MANNER PER THE SCHEDULED DAY AND TIME.

Outstanding! After finding this company on Angie's List, I'd called for an appointment to get an estimate to repair what seemed like a very small leak over our garage. We'd received an estimate from another company that seemed awfully high, and I'm so glad we checked Angie's List and called Earl W. Johnston. I spoke with Jessie in their office on September 6th to make the appointment for an estimate, and we scheduled for their first available appointment, which was September 20th. She offered to call if they had a cancellation, so we were able to reschedule for this afternoon. Mike, the sales manager, was friendly and professional and was actually able to come a little earlier in the day than planned, which was great. He took his iPad up on the roof and told me he'd be about 20 minutes. He took a look at previous repairs we'd had done and showed me the photos to show that the work had been done properly. But in another area, a repair made a few years ago had been done improperly, and the bent nail left in place ended up piercing the sheathing, leading to the link. Mike showed me the photos on the iPad (both before and after) and told me he thought he'd fix the problem while he was up there. When I asked the price, he said "no charge". I know it didn't take much time or effort, but I was still amazed that he would extend that courtesy to us. Amazing! He gave us a great tip for watching the area (draw a line with a pencil around the leak stain so we'll know if it spreads) and said he was about 90% certain the problem was now fixed. If the area still leaked, he wanted us to call right away and he'd get back out quickly. I'm in real estate, so service means everything to me. I was appreciative of the fact that they did what they said they would do by calling me when they had an earlier appointment become available, and that they fixed a small problem and didn't try to take advantage the way the previous company had. As a result, I've already recommended them to 3 people in the 2 hours since Mike left. While it remains to be seen whether his fix will actually take care of the problem once and for all, I was extremely pleased with the entire experience. I see why they consistently receive such high ratings.

Oh my goodness! Mike at Earl Johnson Roofing is the best! He's so professional and helpful. He explained what the problem was and there was no charge. I've called this company on more than one occasion to repair a roof leak and each time, it wasn't the roof, BUT... they always came out to check it out and told me how to remedy the problem. If and when I do have a roof leak or issue, I will certainly use them for the repair. Mike is so honest. I have no idea what's happening in my attic and he could have made up some story and charged me a fortune for something that wasn't wrong -- as TOO MANY other companies would and have done. BUT he didn't! That's what I appreciate and love about this company.... their integrity... which is becoming a rarity in this world! Thank you Earl Johnson Roofing.... I will continue to sing your praises to anyone who has roofing issues!

It was a great experience. they worked well and quick. At times it would rain in the middle of the job and they would stay till late afternoon to get the job done. When they scheduled something it was done that day. There price was worth the quality of there work. The only changes to the quote I was given was for rotted wood under my tiled roof,which was explained ahead of time. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Very well. Mike as promised the next morning wrote up a letter to my insurance company.

I contacted a few roofing companies for estimates. They showed up when they said they would and the estimate was in line with the others. They were able to do the job within a few days. I was not home when they came and they could not find an outdoor electrical outlet so they called me. Since we had just purchased the house, I didn't know where one was located. They told me not to worry and they would figure it out. At the end of the day they called to say everything was complete. The place looked like they had never been there- except the blue tarp covering the leaky roof was gone and I could see new wood under the porch. I didn't go up on the roof to inspect. I waited to write this review because I wanted to see if the roof would leak again-but it's been nearly a year with no leaks.

After getting 3 bids we decided on Earl Johnston. The salesman, Al was very professional and well informed. He kept us updated during the project and did a great job. The roof looks fantastic and we're very satisfied.

They are excellent, and I would highly recommend them. We used them 20 years ago after a hurricane, and they did a great job. We didn't use them this time simply because we found an alternative solution for the problem. We would of used him if we needed the work done. His quote was competitive as well. The gentlemen is professional, thorough, and took his time explaining all our options. They were also on time for the quote too.

I had a leak around a skylight and called Earl Johnston Roofing to get a quote for the repair. The sales manager came out the next day and looked at the area and determined it was the glazing around the skylight that was leaking. He recommended a company to repair it. All for no charge.They did our roof installation 2 years ago and were very professional at the time. Highly recommend them

Work was done as planned at a great price. Crew came back as promised to paint the roof tiles to match. Would recommend to others.

This company was a pleasure to deal with. This was my most expensive home improvement project and by far the most positive one at that. From the start when I met my sales rep, Mike Wilde I felt very comfortable. Mike took the time to educate me about the process, materials and time line. The team had some tough weather to work around but got the job done and I felt nothing was compromised in the process. EJR's employee's were so clean and efficient each and ervey day, even my neighbors commented how professionally run the operation is. My thanks to the entire group of professionals at Earl Johnston Roofing for all their exceptional service. I had 4 bids out for the job and i am very happy I went with this group.

I will be making a decision to replace my roof this weekend. This company is second choice, only because of the price.

After getting many re-roof estimates, I hired Earl W. Johnston Roofing, Inc. for a re-roof as they offered a competitive price and appeared professional. I met with the sales manager Michael Wilde on 14 September 2011 and again on 17 September 2011 to sign the contract and give him a 10% down payment to start the job. He was a true professional. I met with the roofer Eddie on 30 September and gave him an additional 40% payment, per the contract. He and his crew were also very professional and did a great job getting the roof completed in a timely manner. I paid the final balance payment when the roof was completed on 14 October 2011. I then waited for the promised Release of Lien and FPL rebate which was offered for the Entegra Estate "S" Ultra White on White Slurry roof which, needless to say, never materialized. I contacted Meg Romeo on numerous occasions but continuously got the run around. I last phoned her on 27 March 2012, I was told by Mary that Meg was "away from her desk." A week later I had still not received a return call from Meg. By then five months had elapsed and still nothing. I then retained my lawyer to pursue the matter. She wrote a letter on 10 April 2012 requesting the Release of Lien and FPL rebate. My lawyer received the Release of Lein on 27 April 2012 but, as of Friday 1 June 2012, we have yet to receive the FPL rebate or any further communication from Meg Romeo. I honored my end of the contract, but Earl W. Johnston Roofing, Inc. did not honor theirs. I will not use Earl W. Johnston Roofing, Inc. for future roofing jobs at our other properties nor will I recommend this company to others.

They took care of a roof repair for me. It was a little expensive but they did a good job and they were very nice. They took photos of before and after since I don't live near by. The best thing is that they took care of it right then and there and I didn't have to wait a long time. They asked for a reasonable deposit.

They stayed on the roof until it was water tight during the rain. Then they came back the next day on a Saturday to finish even though it wasn't a regular working day for them. Showed up on time each day and worked until they were sure that the job was complete. They were professional and thorough. Definitely a class act.

The whole experience was top-notch. From Mike, who first cameout to analyze my problem and clearly discuss the process with me,step by step . . . . . and checked back in from time to time while theactual roofing was being done to make sure everything was working out as we discussed ------- to Meg, who kept in contact with me viaphone from the Earl T. Johnston office, and to all the workers involvedin this project, I could not have asked for a better sense of professionalism. Thumbs up to everyone at Earl T. Johnston Roofing. On April 12th, Al Hernandez came out. HE went into the attic crawl space to find the leak. Then went on the roof and measured and took pictures and gave us the estimate. he was excellent! Came a little early but called first.

Excellent. The person who took my initial call (Mary) was really professional and friendly. On the day and time I requested, the sales manager/estimator (Mike) arrived. He examined the roof and we had a very candid discussion of the need for a new roof vs. yet another application of elastomeric coating. At 64, I am too old to get up on the roof and am tired of trying to find someone to take care of it. I decided to go with the new roof(s). Everything was then scheduled and coordinated by Meg, who was wonderful to deal with. When need be, Mike would come by to answer my questions. On day one of the work, even Earl Johnston himself came by to check on things. They took care of everything (permits, inspections, forms etc.). The roof looks great, both tile and flat. They did a great job of cleaning up. After the rains finally came (in Hollywood, FL we had very little rain until late April), there was no sign of any leaks. I am totally pleased. Personally, I think the world could use more people like Earl, Mike, Meg and Mary.
