From the time of their arrival to the time the job was finished, they conducted themselves both in a friendly manner and in a professional manner. When Smiley noticed that one of my tiles was chipped, due to a falling tree limb, he offered to nail in a new tile. What makes that so noteworthy is that doing so was not required because it was not part of the agreed-upon job. He just went that proverbial "extra mile." I was very impressed with that. I contacted them to get an estimate to fix my roof. The responded very quickly to my request and we set an appointment. Michael came and did a thourough inspection inside and outside the house. He determined that there were issues with a section of the roof and he provided a quote for the job. He also provided documentation about the company like insurance and license certificate. This made me feel reasured that I was dealing with a reputable business. Michael answered every question I had in a friendly and professional manner. I considered the quoted price as fair and I hired them on the spot. We were not able to set an appointment at that time because they were already working on other jobs and they would call me as soon as they could move on to my repair. Soon after Michael's inspection, I got a call to confirm a time and date for the repair. The 2 men crew that were assigned were on time and wasted no time completing the repair. It took half a day and when they were done, the work was done with no debris in sight. I most complement the older man of the two who came because he was very professional and, very patiently, answered all my questions and requests. I am so pleased with their work that I will soon contact them again to inspect, and repair if needed, the roof of another property I own.

"Big Al' came when scheduled to price the job. I had contacted 5 other roofers and his price was mid range. The men came on the day appointed and ripped off my old roof within two days. ( house is 3600 sq') and minimized the mess. The crew worked continuously and the only time lapse was when we waited two weeks for the tile. The tile went on beautifully and I could not be happier with the finished product or with the company.

I just bought a new house and I hired Earl W. Johnston Roofing to repair/replace 60 tiles and repair a chimney. They also cleaned my roof (7000 sf approximately). The roof looked black and had not been cleaned in several years. 2 men arrived promptly at 8 AM and worked until dark around 6:15 pm. They were polite, efficient and very professional. My roof looks fantastic. I highly recommend them.

I was getting a leak in my kitchen ceiling. I called this company and they did a throrough inspection both inside (attic) and outside on the roof. They immediately identified problem as water coming from around. the fireplace chimney. They took pictures in the attic to show me the damage. They gave me a fare estimate and gave me a 10% Angie's List discount without any hesitation. On the day of the repair two gentlemen showed up exactly on time. They worked very hard almost 7 hours staright and they answered all questions or corncerns I had without becoming irritated as I have experienced with other contractors. They even replaced some of the wet insulation that I bought in the attic even though that was not part of the project scope. I think they did a great job but we haven't had any rain in the past few weeks so it's hard to tell if the repair took care of the problem completely, but based on how meticulous they were with the work I think it's hgoing to be ok.

I have a two story house with a cement S tile roof that had several cracked tiles(previous pressure cleaning contractor responsible for most of the cracked tiles) and needed cleaning. I contacted Earl W Johnston Roofing and they quickly came out to estimate the crack tile repair and cleaning cost. All repairs/services were done quickly and professionally. They also recommended a RAC(Roof-A-Cide) treatment which is basically an antifungal/mold chemical that gets applied after pressure cleaning. It came with a 2 year warranty/guarantee so I purchased the treatment in addition to my pressure cleaning and crack tile repair. It has been a year now since my RAC treatment and my roof still looks like it was cleaned yesterday. I will be contacting Earl W Johnston Roofing to apply a second RAC treatment 2 years after my first treatment as there is a lifetime guarantee of no mold or fungal reoccurrence. I could not be happier with the outcome.

They arrived on time and were very professional. They provided a packet of information describing all types of roofs and provided a written estimate outlining exactly what they intend to offer. The price was also fair. This is a great company, and I would definitely use them for my new roof.

During the initial inspection I was under the impression that once I sign the contract the work would begin by the following week. I submitted the signed contract on 12/14 and was expecting a return call to schedule the service. Needless to say I had to call them twice in the following weeks just to get an understanding when I can expect the work to begin. The first response I received was that someone would contact me after the new year to schedule when the work would begin. After the new year the 2nd response was that they are still reviewing when they can begin. Finally the work was scheduled for 1/7/13. The work was well done. The guys were professional. The responsiveness and follow up could have been better.

Excellent. They were timely in quotes and performance of work. I did not have to replace my gutters which most other roofers insisted on. Showed up when they were suppose to. Earl showed up on the job one day to see how everything was going. Their quote was extremely competitive. I would recommend them to anyone who is having roof work done.

Although I did not use this company, they were very responsive and professional in their communication. Mr. Jamie Selph kept in touch with me during the time that it took for me to get quotes from various companies - I always try to get a mininum of 3 quotes. Mr. Selph provided a written quote specifiying the work to be done and contacted me both via email and phone. The only reason why I used another company is because their price was cheaper. I have taken a salary cut this year and must follow a tight budget as a result.

I called several contractors to give me estimates. Earl Johnston's estimate was much higher, but they had a great reputation so I asked if they would lower the price, and they did! The estimate came in at about $1,300, but Al was able to reduce that to $1,000. The roofers that came out to my house to fix the leak came on time. They were professional, polite and completely cleaned up afterwards. They came to the door to inform me of what they were doing several times which I thought was very nice. I am very happy with the service I received.

He was very polite to speak with, but informed me that he is not able to repair this type of roof so refired to a different type of contract.

The company representative came out and gave us quote. We set up repair date and job was done in a timely and professional manner. The first repair did not completely fix leak so they came back out and fixed problem. Earl Johnston was great in making sure everything went smoothly.

They negotiated the price with me, and gave us a fair price. They were professional and did exactly what they said they would. They were well supervised and left us extra roof tiles in case we needed them. I would use them again in the future.

We had begun seeing evidence of roof problems by the stains on portions of the ceiling in our house. From the moment I found Earl Johnston Roofing on Angie's List, I had a positive experience. First they sent an inspector out to create an estimate. The presentation of the products they use was very professional. Top quality all the way. The first crew came out and removed the old roof. Next, extra wood had to be ordered on top of the wood they had provided due to the damage underneath the visual part of the roof. In a matter of a couple hours the new roof was being put on. Before they left the crew had put the tar paper on to be sure we would have no water issues if it rained that night. Next Inspection went well. Then shingle was delivered and installed up on the roof. Last inspection went well. It was all completed in one week. Every time I had a question, I called the gentleman that had been assigned to my job, (Mike) and if he did not answer right away, I did hear back from him shortly. Communication was outstanding.

Tile roof began leaking over our breakfast area after Hurricane Isaac blew through in August 2012. The area had been repaired just over a year before for similar damage. We called two roofers for estimates. One was recommended by a colleague; they came out, looked at the area (from the ground only) and offered a sliding scale of potential repairs, starting at $2,800 for a small area, and if that didn't fix the problem, then they'd expand to a larger area, at $3,600; and if that didn't do it, they might need to rebuild it to the top roofline, for about $8,000. Never went up to the affected area - just looked from the yard about 35 feet away. Second was Earl Johnson Roofing - which actually had repaired the area the year before. Mike came by, went into the attic to find the actual site of the leak, then went on the roof to confirm and determine the extent of the damage. He took photos, and showed me where a pressure cleaning outfit using high-pressure hoses (just a few weeks earlier) had blown part of the roofing open at a joint where the tiles abutted a vertical wall, and said they'd rebuild that particular area. Since they had done work there before (even though they were not responsible for the leak), he and his owner offered a great price to fix it, and we accepted. The two fellows who came were terrific! They not only repaired the leaking area, they recognized that heavy rains like Isaac (8" in a few hours) would cause the gutters to back up into the affected area, so they rebuilt the gutter/roofing area to eliminate that. Took extra time, but there was no additional charge. They were on time, professional, respectful of the property, and cleaned up completely. Couldn't even have wished for that great a completion! Overall , it went well. The estimate was competitive. The workers were polite and did a nice job fixing the roof .

They set an appointment that was to far out. We decided not to have them come out for an estimate as they called to confirm the appointment and we cancelled it at that time.

I requested an estimate from them and when they came out they were on time, clean, and thorough. They guy that came out was very nice and came two days after I called. They were unable to do the type of roof that I have however.

We tried to get an estimate for a roofing job and they sent a quote back. They came to our home to take a look at the roof. I don't remember any negatives when they came to our home. They were highly rated and we chose to try them and just never got the estimate back.

However, their phone rep was so polite and professional and very efficient and knowledgeable. They had a serviceman come out for an estimate who clearly cared about his work (I am comparing them to about 4 other companies that came out for estimates who stomped around on the roof for a little bit and gave a ridiculous quote for a problem that didn't exist), who climbed into my attic to take a look around (though he wasn't convinced there was a problem in there - but he went out of his way to crawl into the tiny crawl space we had because he was genuinely interested in inspecting the area and doing his job the best he could to actually help us and not disservice us like half these other guys). Their rep examined the roof as well in all of it's entirety and then produced a professional looking folder with the estimate broken down and explained everything to me in a rather educational manner, making sure I understood everything he went over. Their phone rep called back for a follow-up, which none of the other companies did. Overall, I was very impressed with the integrity and personable nature of these representatives. If we ever had a serious issue, I would trust their work over about 90% of workers I met in our "estimate scramble" , even though their pricing wasn't the lowest - but it wasn't the highest, either. I was so impressed by the genuine and personable nature of these reps.

The service was excellent. So far everything has been perfect. We compared them with other companies and they were by far the best in price and customer service.

After hearing horror stories about roofing companies, I was encouraged by the positive reviews and feedback on the company and contacted them to arrange an estimate. The person who answered the phone was polite and accommodating. Al Hernandez met me at my house to give me an estimate and review my roofing needs. He was running late, but called to let me know that he was stuck in traffic (no problem, this is Miami after all). He was able to write-up an estimate on the spot. All good so far, I had several questions that he was unable to answer and needed to check on with the office, again no problem. He didn't to follow-up, so I had to follow-up with him by e-mail in order to get the answers. We traded e-mails, but that only sparked additional questions. I didn't think that my job at more than $10,000 was a small job, but he certainly acted that way. When he was non-responsive to my request for additional information, I called the office. Again, the receptionist was polite and professional. She apologized and said she would have him contact me. No response. I called the office again. Once again, the receptionist was polite and professional. I had wanted him to separate the estimate into two proposals, one for the new roof and one for the repair. The original estimate provided more detail and information on the roof repair than the roof replacement which read, "To redo rear flat roof with TPO roof with TPO roofing. Cost $_____". Not much detail for a new roof! It took 2 1/2 weeks to get a more detailed estimate. Again no follow-up. As the customer, I'm used to having the salesman follow-up with me, not me with the salesman. Given the quality of the reviews, I'm not sure why I experienced an "off" sales experience, however, if they can't sell me right, I figured if there was an issue with the work, I was not going to have the salesman in my corner. So I chose to have the work done by a company that was more responsive.

The work would have been too much money. He suggested to call an handyman to do the work, because it was a handyman's job.
