We first met with Mike (sales rep) and he was very professional and knowledgeable. He gave us several pricing options and really tried to work with our budget. He was also availalble until the very end of the project with any questions we had. There were some small touch ups that needed to be made on the roof after it was replaced and everyone at E. J. was responsibe and extremely helpful. Even Earl himself called us to make sure the final walk through was up to our standards, truly a pleasant experience. If you want a roofing contractor that takse pride in thier work I would recommend Earl Johnston roofing.

Good company and very good to deal with. The work went along well and these guys even showed up on Thanksgiving morning to get some of the work done. But, I'm giving them an A+ for what happened on the last day of the job - that's when this company really took it to the next level. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and this was the first time I'd ever redone a roof. When I expressed some concerns in regards to some of the work and finishes that were done - Earl himself called me back and said I'll be over in the morning with my crew. The next morning Earl showed up, his plaster guys, his roofing crew and even a representative from the tile manufacturer. He walked the property with me and discussed every detail of the roof - my house is old and the roof lines aren't perfect but he addressed and fixed everything we discussed. Attention to detail, follow through and customer service - these guys deliver.

After I signed a contract with the company, it took about three weeks for them to start the job. When they came because of our unstable weather, it took about four days for the job to be completely done. The supervisor of the crew was David, a very courteous young man, who kept me informed of every step they took up in the roof and the wood that needed to be replaced when they took apart the old roof covering. There was a relatively good amount of wood (fascia, soffit and some plywood replaced) and one of the members of the crew named Edgard, did a fantastic and quick job replacing it in a perfect, professional manner. After they left, even though we had some days with a lot of rain, I didn't have a single leak in the house. After that, another crew came to install the shingles and again, did a vary detailed and professional job, completed in half a day. Also, another guy came and fix all the stucco removed when they took out the old roof. He did a very detailed and good job, showing me what he did and asking me if I was satisfied with the results. All of the people I met during this experience seemed to know very, very well what they were doing. They kept me informed all the time and let me go up on the roof to actually see what was being done, and explained me why was being done. And that, in my opinion, is the whole point of their service. Since the job, for its magnitude, was not cheap, at least I had the peace of mind that I was dealing with professionals that did it right and hopefully I will have a roof that will last many years. I am very glad I found the Earl Johnston Roofing company. They are definitely good.

The actual roof work was great. The crew was respectful of the landscaping, did good quality work, friendly, and best of all cleaned up afterwards. The sales representative Mike was great as well. Fully explained the project before hand, made great suggestions regarding materials as well as things that could be done to reduce heat from the roof. They coordinated AND paid for the permits ( no hidden charges with them as with other companies), and even offered a simple and quick financing option for part or all of the roof repairs. (The only company that offered this service). They discovered issues as the tore off the old roof but were quick to communicate them to me and made all the repairs needed. Upon completion it was hard to tell they had been there. Sure there were tiny signs, but they left the property very clean. My only small complaint would be they could give you a little better warning for the start of the project. With roofing it can be hard to accurately create a schedule that can be guaranteed especially during the rainy season, wish the call the evening before starting could have been made a few days in advance. In the end it all worked out and I am in no way saying my experience was bad. All scheduling after the start was fully explained and came through as expected. The roof came with rebates from FLP due to the materials used, and a 25 year transferable warrantee on materials and installation. Overall the company and everyone I dealt with was wonderful, informative, and pleasant to deal with. I would recommend them to anyone for roofing replacement.

We had some significant difficulties at first but were satisfied at conclusion of job. Contracted in February for repair of leaks by removal of shingles, inspection & repair of underlying wood (if / as req'd) and replacement of tar paper and matching shingles. Initial job was not performed per contract as workmen arrived without a confirmed appointment when no one was home and applied sealant rather than removal, repair and replacement of shingles. Areas were missed, sealant was not fully effective and leaks continued. A 2+ month conflict resulted with much aggravation and no relief when dealing with Sales Manager and thus final payment was withheld. In late April, the owner personally intervened and ensured that the work was performed as contracted and to our satisfaction. Quality of workmanship on 2nd repair was good, and the owner (and daughter) were pleasant to work with. Mr. Johnson does seem to care, is clearly competent and was professional in his attitude and his knowledge. I am now pleased with the outcome and would recommend them to others, but some points were deducted for the delays, headaches, and poor professionalism of mid-level management. My advice is to ensure that someone is present when the work is performed and to escalate any concerns or issues. I am now satisfied with the repairs and would be willing to utilize their services in the future.

My home needed to be re-roofed due to many leaks. I contacted several roofers and received multiple estimates. I looked over all the estimates and decided on Earl W Johnston roofing. They provided a very competitive price and the best overall warranty for the roof. The staff was very professional. They have been around for many years and have many good reviews. They did not disappoint. They completed the work very efficiently and did a great job cleaning up. I would definitely recommend them for your roofing needs.

We have done a lot of work on this house since we bought it two years ago. We had zero interest in doing the roof as well...because honestly, there was nothing wrong with it. It was in great shape. Unfortunately, Citizens did not agree with us on that, and mandated that we replace it because of its age. And so we went into the roofing marketplace, worn out from all the work done on the house so far, and unhappy about throwing money away on a new roof. In spite of all that, Earl Johnston Roofing did an incredible job on our roof, and made what could have been a miserable and aggravating process almost enjoyable. I work for a large national general contractor, and if we had subcontractors like this on our work, life would be a snap. They were incredibly timely - took three weeks, start to finish, once we got started. Our neighbors were amazed. They were unfailingly clean - they swept the job site very, very thoroughly at the end of the day - usually sending two or three people around the perimeter, picking up even the smallest scraps. And the quality was outstanding - each piece of flashing was set and re-stuccoed, the tile itself was set very cleanly, and they even built up the area around the chimney (a past problem area) with crickets to prevent future puddling - and they did all of that proactively. And finally, their pricing was superb - they easily beat all of their competitors, and that INCLUDED additional roof venting that no other firm offered. And they did not hammer us after the fact with a huge extra lumber cost (which we lived through on our last roofing project). Now they my always be this good, but I have learned that construction companies often have less to do with the quality of a job than the specific people assigned to it. To that end, I highly, highly recommend you ask for the project manager for our job, Mike Wilde, when you call them up. He was always conscientious, timely in his solutions, pushed the job along, and in general just a very, very pleasant guy to work with. I should say that I also spoke to two other very good firms that I found through Angie's List that seemed terrific as well, but ultimately the cost difference and more importantly the trust we had in Mike - which he ultimately rewarded with a great job - were the reasons we chose Earl Johnston. For all of these reasons, I would unhesitatingly recommend Earl Johnston for any roofing project you might have.

Earl came himself to appraise the damage and was very professional. His crew came to do the work. They have to remove and area of more or less 10x10 (estimate). They managed to save all my roof tiles so that was awesome, I have done that same area in the past with another company and they broke several of the tiles and finding the same color is almost impossible on a 14 year old roof. They finished that area and check the entire roof on that day. The following day another crew came to clean my roof tiles and they did a great job not only cleaning but keeping my pool clean from all the dirt. Thank you.

Service was promptly scheduled and workers arrived early - which was fine with me. Professional presentation of equipment and workers. Spent a good amount of time on my roof which had not been cleaned for 2 years. I have to admit I have never seen it look this good compared to many previous washings. The Roof-A-Cide was applied and has a 2-year warranty. Have great hope that it does the trick. A minor repair was needed after pressure washing but the company was prompt to review and repair. At this time, I would not hesitate to use them again.

Earl Johnston worked with us at every stage of the roof replacement process to be absolutely certain that we were happy with the workmanship and appearance of the new roof. The roof removal crew showed up as scheduled on April 8. They worked throughout the day to remove the old barrel tiles and replace some of the roof decking that was badly deteriorated. They also repaired and replaced some of our soffit and fascia. Before they left in the early evening, the workers had the roof sealed against the elements. A couple of days later a second crew applied the 90-lb asphalt roll roofing with hot mop, and a few days later a third crew attached the new clay barrel tiles to the roof. We had a few minor glitches along the way, which I think would be normal for a job of this size, but Earl himself was always accessible by cell phone, and he was frequently at our home to directly supervise his workers and to see that any aspects of their work that did not meet our expectations or Earl's own standards were redone to everyone's satisfaction. Earl Johnston really does stand behind his work. We would enthusiastically recommend him to anyone in need of a roof repair or a new roof.

10 days after contract was signed, got a call on a Thursday that the job would begin on Monday. I was having an issue reaching my handyman ( since I thought I had more time to schedule), but told the roofer on Monday (they had started) that the handyman would be by sometime on Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon, left work to meet handyman at 1:00 to find that the roofers had removed the railing and the shutter already, telling me time was money. the items were thrown on the lawn. Handyman came and removed sllding glass door and the roofers did their thing, slider was put back in. Was told that the railing could not go up until after the first inspection ( was not told that up front). On Thursday, I was told that the painter could come in and the painter got an email saying the roofers would be off site starting Painters came early on Friday and the roofers appeared on hour later. Painters attempted to power wash around the roofers and finally gave up at noon. Talk to the on-site supervisor and he said he didn't know who said the painters could come but he knew that they were going to be cementing that day. Left messages at the office and they did not return my call until the afternoon saying the office manger screwed up. The teams who worked on my house did not waste time. They had the roof up in 10 working days ( excluding time for the tiles to be delivered or the days the painter was there. They did a fantastic job, clean, respectful, but they need to learn to communicate better with their clients and the other companies that they coordinate projects with. I was disappointed in their communications to me and to my painter and that they never put the railing or shutter back after taking it down.
Description of Work: First I want to say, they did a beautiful job on replacing my 25+ year old roof. They were extremely neat and polite and they never left any messes. Got an estimate in December, signed a contract to do the work in March. Was told it would take 4-5 weeks to start and the schedule was to include time for a painter to paint my house between removing the tiles and putting on the new roof. Was told I need to have my upstairs balcony rail removed and the hurricane shutter for the upstairs slider ( by balcony) and the sliding glass doors when roof was starting. The house is 2 stories and about 3000 square feet.

I had a different brand of mildewcide applied to my roof each year for the last 5 years (by a different company) so the roof didn't need pressure washing. The roof-a-cide product supposedly only needs to be applied every 2 years. It costs more than what I had been using, but if it lasts two years it will be a better deal. The company says they will come out to retreat anything that needs it during the 2 years. My expectation is that the roof won't need it, but only time will tell for sure. The two man crew that showed up for the job worked quickly and efficiently. One man on the roof applying the material and the second man on the ground with a hose to wash down the plants and walls. (The material will cause some plants to lose leaves if it is not washe off). I had put out hoses around the house for them to use and they neatly rolled up each one and stored it when the job was complete. A nice extra touch. The workers presented a bill when they arrived and I had the choice to give the workers a check when the job was done or to mail a check to the company. I gave the check to the workers. The company I had previously been using initiated a new "pay in advance" policy this year. This is one of the reasons I decided to try Earl Johnson this year. I like using contractors that are adequately capitalized and who don't insist on having the money in advance. I debated whether to give an A or a B on responsiveness. I ultimately decided to go with an A. I had called three roof-a-cide applicators for quotes. One never returned my call. One returned my call 7 days after I left a message. Earl Johnson answered my call and I spoke to someone when I called. It took a couple of days and a second call to actually get a quote scheduled. Apparently business is booming. I got my quote, a contract was emailed to me and the job was completed all within 2 weeks of my initial call to the company. Although there was a day or two in there when I wondered what was happening, it all worked out in the end. Considering everything, I feel I got good responsiveness, but compared to the competition it was excellent.

Mr. Johnston came out on time. The appt. was not difficult to set up by calling his office. He inspected the roof for damage as this pertains to buying a home that I plan to move into with my family. I asked him for a Wind Mitigation report before he started his inspection of the roof and attic. He asked me to send him the blank form from my insurance company which I did approx. 2 weeks later. However, it took a few days and a few calls/emails to get the filled out Wind Mitigation form back. The quality of the inspection and recommendations were honest and much appreciated.

The representative looked inside my house where the leak was occurring and then got up on his ladder near this spot. He immediately smiled and took a picture of a small hole/access area where he believed where it was happening. He showed me the exact spot. He got some caulk and closed it up telling me this was likely it but to call back if I had any issues. It has now been almost 1.5 months since his visit and there has been no recurrence despite some very heavy rains. He did not charge me. Other providers gave me quotes of $1300-$1600 to fix this leak. I will keep this provider on my list for any future roofing issues without any reservation.
Description of Work: I had a small leak in my roof. I contacted the provider and they were quite busy at the times that best fit my schedule. Since I had a good interaction with them a few years ago, I decided to wait for them to come out even though I was able to get quotes from other providers rather quickly.

The job went very well. The office manager kept me in the loop every step of the way. Once they start a job they will work diligently until the work is complete. After the permit was obtained the whole job took about two weeks to complete. The roof was torn off and dried-in in 1 day. I was impressed by the quality of the job and the companies willingness keep the customer happy. The county inspector was impressed with the quality of the work as well! Though they did not quote the lowest price, they included many items in their price that other companies would add as an extra cost, such as tile uplift tests, gas vent inspections, and permits.
Description of Work: Reroof - replaced rotten wood, installed new underlayment, vents and roof tiles.
