The crew arrived on time and immediately got to work. It started to rain, but the plowed on, carefully removing my ,barrel tiles' and prepared the area for the new flashing. They installed the new flashing from the front of the house which curved towards a portion of the back of the house and expertly replaced my tiles afterwards.

Tile was removed and leak fixed followed by removing rotten wood and replacing soffits and fascia with new wood. Everything was caulked neately. Patio lights also had to be removed from overhang while replacing wood. Tony and Luis did a great job of putting lights back as they were. We are very pleased with their work! Both Tony and Luis were professional explaining what they were doing and a plus which you dont always see with repairs is they cleaned up leaving no mess behind.

We scheduled estimate meetings with three roofing companies. One was nearly 20% more expensive and the other didn't even show up. Our first meeting was with Mike from Johnston. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. And he patiently answered all of our questions. We were confident they were our choice before any of our other meetings. Johnston has a wide selection of tiles to choose from and they were able to work with the specific requirements of our HOA. Mike provided us with samples so we could see the actual tile before any work started. They were able to start the work much sooner than we expected. Every time they were on site, they were respectful of our time and needs in terms of coming and going from the house. They told us exactly what was going to be done that day and what we could expect. All work was completed on time and well within their estimate. We chose to have the work done after the rainy season but it still rained nearly half the entire time from demolition to final inspection. There were no leaks at all - even before the new roof was fully installed. Throughout the installation process, we worked closely with the coordinator in the Johnston office. She was also very friendly and helpful - that was great since this all took place through the holiday season. In talking about Johnston with others, we frequently heard that our friends and acquaintances had heard of Johnston and heard good things. Now, we can say the same!

Mike Wilde was just at our house and we are so pleased with his service we came right in to leave this review. It's a long story but his opinion was truly the only honest opinion we have gotten about our roof. We wanted some things on our roof replaced, we were more than willing to have the work done right away, but Mike told us the truth, that our roof was fine and in very good shape. He told us we didn't need anything done. We asked more than once if he was sure our roof was fine he told us yes, he is the definitely the most honest roofer we have met. We let him know if we ever needed a new roof his company would be the one, he said thanks but that's going to be a long while off. I had previous experience with this company and although it took a while to schedule a visit to provide an estimate - partly due to my work schedule - I knew it was worth the wait. Estimator was punctual and helpful and explained the whole process quite well. He even helped put a tarp over the trouble area so I would be dry for a couple of days until they could schedule the actual work. The work was completed within a week of the estimate. Workman prompt and courteous. No more leak.

Mike, the gentleman who came out to provide the estimate, was extremely professional and friendly, the company responded quickly to our call, and they provided a detailed estimate. However, they were on the high end in terms of the prices we were quoted, so we opted to go with another company for the job.

They did a good job. I've used them before. They're professional and responsive. The pricing is reasonable and they send a foreman out who talks to you before they send the workers out.

The sales manager came out and did an outstanding job of inspecting the roof from top to bottom. He did not charge for the inspection at all and said that the roof was fine. He was very knowledgeable. I had a leaking window that was causing the problem and he informed me that somebody else in windows would be more qualified to fix it.

We had our Hurricane Andrew vintage roof replaced by Earl W. Johnston, Roofing (EWJR), in September of 2014. We got three quotes from three vendors and selected EWJR based on reputation first and price as a secondary consideration. We were not unhappy with our decision. The rip-off and dry-in crew of around eight workers completed the first stage in a single day. We had selected a GAF dimensional roofing system with upgrades that included special starter row strips and extra waterproofing material in the valleys and around vent stacks. We also opted for the GAF Cobra ridge vent system with heavy-duty ridge caps. This latter upgrade allows our under-soffit vents to provide airflow to the high point (ridge) of the roof to lower the roof/attic temperatures and prolong the life of the roof materials. When a minor technical issue arose regarding the procedures (recently modified by Miami-Dade County) for the roof vent system, Earl worked diligently with the GAF engineers for clarification. Earl personally inspected the job (behind the county inspectors) and had corrections made where necessary. I felt that the personal attention and responsiveness shown by the company owner and all contacts with his office staff, sales representative, and workers on the job were illustrative of a dedication and work ethic seldom seen in the construction trades. Another vendor salesman was in our home when Earl came by and, based on our conversation and exchange, that salesman was impressed and asked for Earl?s business card. After the final county inspection the contractor had a person come by to do a final clean up of stray tin caps and nails that may have been missed by the initial crew. That person also went on the roof and painted all of the newly installed stacks and vents to match the roof. This last step isn't always completed by roofers as evidenced by other installations in my neighborhood. I also had a brief conversation with a county roofing inspector who commented on the quality of this installation saying that he too was impressed. In my sixty plus years, I have hired three roofers. My first experience was a horror story, my second was satisfactory, and this one was outstanding.

To save money on my insurance, it was time to reroof. I wanted the best shingles I could afford and a reliable company to do the work. I found them at Earl Johnston. The estimator, Mike Wilde, was friendly, punctual, and accurate. He patiently explained the difference in secondary water barrier rules between our county and the rest of the state. He even cleaned a couple of spots on my carport supports which I could not reach, without my knowing it, as a kindness even before I chose their company to do the job. You can't beat kindness and consideration like that from a person in any business. I took that to be an indicator of how the rest of the work would go and I was right to think that. I had a lower bid but they matched it when I showed it to the estimator. Given their 30 years in the business and top-notch ratings, I decided to use them even though they are way up in Broward and I'm in South Dade. They pulled permits and posted them in a special container in my yard. They have separate crews for different phases of the work, which I understand, but would have preferred some continuity in personnel at my home. They cleaned up all the debris from removing the old roof, which was very important because I have pets who could have been hurt stepping on old nails and staples. They installed the barrier per code. I was delighted to have the new, white Timberline HD shingles put down and the old turbines taken down. Although they helped keep the house and attic cool, it was impossible for me to get up on the roof to replace them with hurricane covers when needed. Now, the new ridge vent does the same job and I never have to worry again about finding some one to help me with the turbines. They were respectful of an endangered species tree next to the roof and didn't cut it even though it would have been easier to do that. The office staff were on top of all of the paperwork and very pleasant to deal with. There is an upcharge percentage of the cost for using a credit card, which was not stiuplated anywhere on the contact, but I understand why they do it to keep their cost down. There was an issue with some of the drip edge being right on the facia, and when I sent pictures of the proble, they were out the next day to make it right with no quibbling. Their work and products resulted in my get a nice refund on my insurance costs. Their work is also guaranteed with a transferable warranty for when I sell the home in the future. I am extremely pleased with their work, their materials, and their people. I'd offer my roof as an example for anyone interested in their company.

They were very responsive and accommodating to my scheduling needs. They did it one day, left the yard completely spotless, and my new roof is perfect!

I contacted the company for repair and or replacement on the fascia board on my 2-story home. They contacted me within 24-hours of me sending them an email, they were courteous an professional and very timely. The rep who came to my home was a true professional and very honest. He explained everything to me and told I really did not need a roofer as my roof is in great shape. The rep's honesty, professionalism, knowledge and courtesy were truly awesome. Most companies these day try to oversell the consumer on everything and this company does not. Highly recommend them.

THE GENTLEMAN RESPONDED AT THE TIME OF THE APPOINTMENT. SURVEYED THE AREA IN DINING ROOM AND THEN WENT TO THE ATTIC TO CHECK FOR WATER DAMAGE. THERE WAS NONE. IN ADDITION TO CHECKING DINING AREA, HE CHECKED THE ENTIRE ATTIC FOR MOISTURE. (THE TEMP. THAT DAY MUST HAVE BEEN ABOVE 120 IN THE ATTIC). THERE WAS NONE. NEXT, HE WENT UP ON THE ROOF AND CHECKED FOR BROKEN TILES AND LEAKS. HE FOUND NOTHING WRONG, WHICH WAS A BIG RELIEF. THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME I'VE USED THIS COMPANY. I FIND THEM QUITE THOROUGH, PROFESIONAL AND HONEST. WILL USE THEM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE, IF NECESSARY

Sometimes something has to go wrong to know how good a provider you have chosen. That is the case with Earl Johnston. Earl was one of three or four quotes that I had when I decided it was time to re-roof. They all came in about the same (+/- about $1,000) with Earl being a little higher than the "middle." But I met him, I liked his direct style, and I trusted him to do the job we agreed to do. During the process of getting home owners association approval and tile selection, I spoke with Meg in the office and she was also great. When the day came to remove and later install the new roof, everything went as planned and explained. Absolutely no damage and the crew who came were first class in every way. After the roof was up, it took me about a week to call Meg and ask if she would have someone come over and see the roof because I was not sure that the color on the roof was what I had ordered. She arranged for a factory rep to come over and, to my surprise, she confirmed that the installed color was NOT as ordered. The most amazing part of this story is that everyone accepted full responsibility, and all that anyone wanted to do was to "make it right." In this day and age that, in and of itself, is truly amazing. Once we decided on the resolution, Earl handled everything as agreed. I would not hesitate to recommend Earl and his team. Based on my experience, his firm is one-of-a-kind. A great experience.

I couldn't say enough good things about this company. We had multiple leaks in our concrete tile roof. We got a number of estimates for the repair and all were similar in cost. However, this was the only company that said they would replace not only the tile and tar paper, but the plywood below if necessary. They came on time the day the repair was scheduled and worked from 8:30 am until 7:30 pm without a break! The job foreman, Matt, was one of the hardest working people I have ever met. He kept me informed on the repair status throughout the day with patience and kindness. It turns out that the plywood was rotted in some places and had to be replaced. The crew also did a splendid job cleaning up. This company was reasonably priced, honest, hardworking and thorough. We plan on replacing the roof in a few years, and this will be the company that does the job.

They quoted a fair price - they came - they put on a new roof - only minor problems which they handled.

The work was done at the agreed upon time. The workman displayed a professional demeanor and were very neat in the repair and clean up. Additionally we had a water spot on our dining roon ceiling that did not appear to be actively leaking and we therefore did not have that investigated or even btought to the roofers attention. When repairs were done on the area that was leaking, that area no longer leaked but the stain on the dining room ceiling did start to leak. When I called Johnston Roofing they came out and inspected the situation. They determined that their repairs in that area of the roof may have contributed to the second leak and they decided that it would be repaired at no cost. I know that a less honest roofer would have accepted no resposibility for the second leak and would have tacked on additional charges but that did not happen. I feel that the work completed and the honesty displayed by this company sets them apart from other roofers. I would certainly recommend them and will be using their services in the future if needed,

They were good. They came and checked everything out. They explained everything and got it done. It was a good experience. They went out there and gave us options on which way we could go, and we chose to repair. We had quite a number of people come in and they were all on the same range, and we just happened to like the fact that they had been around a while. We liked their presentation and how they told us what they were going to do, and the fact that they weren’t trying to sell us anything. It was good quality.

No roofing work was done, only evaluation of a leaking problem.

Mike the Field SalesRep came out, walked the property with me and after looked at everything, then presented me with an impressive quote and information about the company. The price was the best as I got quotes from four companies. The men who came out, Oliver and Eugene arrived on time and did a clean meticulous job, I was very surprised at the really good carpentry. It was completed in one day. Thank you.

My Mother-in-law had used Earl Johnson Roofing for a leak almost 3 years ago when they had to replace the west side valley on her tile roof. This time the other valley on the east side had a leak. Tommy came out and was very honest and polite said she probably did not have to replace the entire valley like last time as this time it appeared the cause of the leak was near the end of the valley. They gave us an estimate for repairing the end of the valley run and also the entire valley if they saw it needed to be replaced once they took up the materials at the end. As it turned out they had to go a little further than the end and repair part of the valley about half way to the pitch in the roof. They did that too and did not charge any extra for the additional work and materials. The workers were Matt and Israel and were prompt, professional, courteous and did a thorough job. They were very honest since if they told us the entire valley needed replacing we would have followed their recommendation.
