Capital Air Conditioning

We returned to a very warm condo (after a long stay out of the country). After resetting the thermostat (no effect) and researching the AC unit on the 'net (nothing seemed to address our problem), we looked for an AC specialist on Angie's List. We found Capital Air Conditioning. Dave said that he was able to come that day (a Sunday). He arrived exactly when he said he would and, like a magician, had our AC working within 10 minutes. Not only did he fix it, but he shared his secret solution, patiently explaining what had gone wrong, how to nip it in the bud in the future, how to trouble shoot other problems and how to maintain a healthier unit in general. Impressive! We are very happy with this experience and eager to share it with others.

They came out to do the services and decided that when I was gone they would go ahead and add 4 liters of Freon without my approval. I am now getting a bill for an additional $300 for this Freon and a half hour of over time they said they worked. I did not approve of any of this except for the initial inspection, cleaning, and tune up.

It appears to be fixed and running fine as far as I know at this point.

Everything went okay. Additional charges were charged for tablets and freon.

I wanted to take this angie's list special deal as an opportunity to meet and see how a potentially new air conditioner repairman would go and have that card in my pocket when I really need an AC guy. Lets face it, you call AC guys when there is an emergency. So I'm glad I had this opportunity and I will say, Captail Air will definitely get my future business. Robert was prompt (my time was between 3 and 5), he showed up at 3. He was polite, i was inquisitive and he took the time to answer all my questions. My unit is 12 years old and he took the time to answer my quesitons about my future replacement options. He really helped me reset my preset thermostat. Connie who handled setting up the appointment was very nice as well. Big kudos to this company. I was very pleased.

During the cleaning the technician pointed out a part that regulates the voltage. The part was broken and wasn't doing anything. He said this was causing the air contitioning unit to use more energy than necessary, and drawing too much of a load. The part was about $105 (in addition to the cost of the annual cleaning deal). When it was installed he showed the voltage being used, which dropped quite a bit. I've noticed on my FPL account since that the energy usage is better. This is a small investment that will pay for itself very quickly on my electric bill!

The check up went smoothly. Casey was professional and answered all my questions. No high pressure to buy additional services.

I bought an AC Tune up but come to find out the AC unit ended up needing freon. So the tech serviced it. I felt he was straight forward. Good guy.

I chose Capital because of good reviews. They weren't the lowest price or the highest. I was impressed with the checklist of things they would do. I signed up, paid and got an appointment for the next day between 2 -4. The serviceman called to say that he could make it around 12 and arrived a short while later. He went through the whole checklist inside and out as well as calibrating the thermostat all the while telling me what he was doing. He was very pleasant, good attitude, and knowledgeable. .Best of all there were no extra charges.

Capital air was on tome and did the work as promised.

From my initial phone call for an estimate to completion of job , this company was top notch. I bought a condo in aventura that had the original 1990 A/C that needed to be replaced. Pete the owner was very professional and his office staff and techs the best I have used in a long time. I live on the other coast of Florida and my Son lives in condo so good communication was a must for this job. Pete was easily available to answer my many questions and follow up emails. They were there on time and worked very hard all day to remove and dispose of existing unit and to install new system. This was no easy task since the A/C is above the water heater in a closet outside the unit. You needed a lot of muscle and knowledge and thinking outside the box to Get this job done. They did all this to perfection! Other companies I got estimates from wanted me to pay extra for a plumber to remove the water heater and then reinstall it, to make the job easier for them and they were more expensive for identical unit. Capital Air came in under budget and the new system blows out strong clean air and we are very happy. We will recommend them to the condo management office too. What a pleasure it was to use this company and to receive a FPL rebate off new unit.

The technician arrived on time and quickly went to work. He was very efficient and informative, taking the time to explain how the unit worked. He also took additional time to review how Central Air works since I haven't used it before. I would highly recommend this company and plan to use them again, as well as purchasing a maintenance contract.

The service worked out fine and he was very informative. He came in and did an inspection and said everything was working well. He made a minor repair and everything has been working great since.

First, I had an electrical problem with one of the units. The technician found the problem right away and showed me what I needed to do to maintain it in the future. Since it was a very simple problem he did not charge extra. :-) The actual unit inspection and tuning went well. One of my thermostats was running out of batteries. The technician replaced them for me at no extra charge. I was very pleased with the work and timeliness. I will definitely used Capital Air again.

It was a basic tuneup and minor cleaning, nothing elaborate. I wanted to know about this ac unit and the tech was informative and educated me on how to clean and maintain the machines myself. He was a little clumsy, but nice. There was no up sell or games played.

Technician arrived at the time announced. It was evident he didn't know what his visit was about and asked what was wrong . I let him know that this call was for a tune-up of the AC. He did a quick job: his filter washing took less than 5 seconds and he put it back in the unit right away. I asked him if putting back a wet filter was OK and he said it was. Then he opened the unit and threw two tablets inside. examined the unit and went out and came back saying he had added 8 (Eight) pounds of gas. Since the unit is only 3 years old the 8 pounds of gas sounded too big, and I expected to know in advance about this unexpected expense, He mentioned a possible leak which would need to be located and would take one or two hours of work. He presented a bill for $179.00. That, added to the prior payment of $49.00 amounted to a total of $228.00. Again, he didn't know the reason for his visit on that day because he included in the bill $3.00 for 2 pan tabs. When I pointed out that the tabs were included in the price paid in advance for the tune-up he said that I would be given a credit at the next visit. I do not know weather I want to call this gentleman again

We called Capital Air for a quote to replace our AC system since we had it break 3 times last summer and we were looking for a more efficient and quieter system. Eric came out and was very patient in answering our questions. There are a lot of brands and features to consider and other companies that gave us estimates had differing opinions on what is best. Eric gave us his recommendations and politely explained why. We still weren't sure so he gave us a quote with 6 different systems and brands so we could compare for ourselves which we really appreciated. After getting all our quotes we called Capital Air several more times and spoke with James and Peter, the owner, and they were very patient. We know we asked a lot of questions but we were about to spend a lot of money and we wanted to make sure we picked a reliable system and that it was installed correctly. We decided to hire Capital Air because they were so helpful and were able to give us an AC system with the features we wanted at a price we could afford. We scheduled the install for the next week when we were home. Two installers arrived and as they worked they were really loud to the point of yelling to each other about their personal stories. It's okay to have personal conversations while working but you don't need to be so loud and obnoxious that the whole neighborhood knows your business. We considered asking them to quiet down but were afraid they would give us a bad install since one of the installers had an attitude. We had some problems with the installation of the last air handler and we wanted to make sure that didn't happen again so a few times we asked questions. If we spoke to him he would either ignore us or reply with a smart-alecky response. At the end of the day when they were ready to leave we asked to be sure the system was set up to run as a 2-stage so it would run at a quieter setting at times. Well, Mr. Attitude said he had been doing this for 16 years and he left. The AC ran on high all night, sometimes cycling on and off every 10 minutes. We called Peter the next morning and complained about his installer's attitude and also that the system wasn't working right. Peter was very apologetic and sent a technician named Glen out that morning to look at the system. Glen found out that something on the air handler wasn't set to run as a 2-stage so he fixed it. He also checked the thermostat and went over all the settings with us to make sure it was set to run as a 2-stage. He waited for us to see that the system was now running correctly and even tested the heat to make sure that part of the system was working. Glen made sure all our questions were answered and that we were happy with the system. Glen is truly an asset to Capital Air. Everyone we dealt with at Capital Air was extremely professional, knowledgeable, patient and polite... except one of the installers. We even spoke with Dave the service manager after the installation to ask for his recommendations on which air filter to use. We have heard that an air filter that is too restrictive can strain the system. He showed us several options and showed us what he recommended and let us take one home to see how we liked it. He was also excellent. Overall we are very happy with our air conditioning system and the service from Capital Air. We would have gladly given them an A rating if their installers had been more professional.

The price was excellent and the quality of work was great. They were really responsive to any problems or questions I had.

I purchased this Big Deal for our rental property. Everything turned out great. They went over to the property and took care of the deal. Our tenants said they were very happy with everything that happened.

Sorry to say I didnt get the tecks name... he was there on time, very nice, and went above and beyond ....Ive use this company several times and would highly reccomend them.

i used an Angie's list "special "just to have pre-summer maintenance done. In addition to a maintenance check, I asked t he tech to replace a noisy and weathered contact , along with an old thermostat and filter replacement. Tech was there on time, professional and honest.

Every this was acceptable. He was very professional. Went smoothly.

Great service. Jeff showed up and did a very thorough job of explaining routine maintenance on the system and showing me how to prolong the life of my old air conditioner. This was the Angie's List cleaning and inspection deal and it was well worth the money. This was a new to me house so I really wanted some expert insight into the condition of the system. Excellent service. Highly recommend Capital Air.

From the first contact I found them to be professional and completely knowledgeable. The crew showed up on time, performed the work quickly and efficiently and cleaned up the work area before they left. This is by far one of the best contractor experiences I have had in many years. I will use these folks for any future air conditioning needs and I certainly recommend them!
