 + -1 moreWe needed to paint the outside of our home. I had gotten one or two estimates but they were kind of high. I set up an account with Angie's List to get more reputable painters. Jim came out to give us an estimate for the outside of our home. He was very knowledgeable and really knew the ins and outs on everything about painting exterior. The estimate he gave us was $1000 less than the other two we had gotten. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who needs their house painted. He Did an excellent job it looks great and was very fast and got her house done in only a few days. Thank you Jim we really appreciate it :)

 + 0 moreJim walked us through the house, listened to what we wanted and made suggestions. We greatly appreciated his expert advice such as what finish he should use with the paint. There was an issue with our ceiling with the popcorn ceiling and he just threw in fixing it because he wanted the job to look good. He did a great job. The spots where we had once hated the paint we now love and we were really happy with his work.

I live in the Chicagoland area, so Jim took controll of the project since I could not be there do oversee the work being completed. He did a wonderful job and the house looks great. The house looks brand new. He did exactly what we agreed to and put a little extra into the project. Very neat and professional. Goes out of his way to make the customer happy. I would strongly recommenmd Jim's Kustom paiting for all of you paiting needs.

 + 1 moreResponse was prompt and considerate to get an estimate. Painter was open to suggestion, kept me updated on progress. He informed me of some additional problems on the exterior (e.g. some rotting wood.) He then removed the wood and repainted the area at no added cost. Work took several days to complete, due to the volume, and working around my schedule and weather, but was completed in about a week. I absolutely would use this firm again. Have had several comments from neighbors as to how steadily the painter worked, and he has had requests for estimates. overall I am very pleased.
Description of Work: I feel the price was fair considering the amount of work needed. Exterior of home was pressure washed, additional scraping needed due to chalking, sealed and painted. Excellent brand of paint used.

 + 1 moreI put a call into him at about 11:00. He came by within 2 hours to give us a written estimate. We trusted h im immediately based on how he handled himself. We checked a couple others just to compare and he was the lowest in price. The reason we went with him was because we trusted him, not because he was the lowest in price. He asked a current customer if he could postpone her (she was sick and was not in a rush) in order to do our rush job. He was great. We've made a new friend.
Description of Work: Jim painted both interior and exterior of our home. Without asking, he knew we had a water problem and suggested waterproofing the lower edge - which had already been recommended by the mold people. He worked hard, even weekends to help to finish the job so that we could move in on time. He is very professional, knowledgeable, honest and the best person to know. We highly recommend his services.

Description of Work: I contacted Jim to get an estimate for painting the exterior of my house. He returned my call within 30 minutes and an hour later he was at my house to discuss what I wanted done. He gave me a fair price and I hired him. He pressure washed the house and repaired a few things he saw prior to painting at no extra charge. He was great in offering his expertise in helping me narrow down the house color (I had several sample colors on the wall). He applied two coats of sealer and two coats of Behr premium paint. He also pressure washed and sealed pavers and painted the walls in my lanai. Jim did an absolutely fabulous job! I couldn't be happier. My next door neighbor apparently liked what he saw as he hired Jim just as he was completing my house. Others have said that Jim is an "old school worker and a southern gentleman" I couldn't agree more. I would highly recommend Jim's Kustom Painting to anyone that is looking to have their house painted....in fact, I already have. I also will be contacting him again soon to have the interior of my house painted.

He was punctual. He did a great job. His fees were modest and he was the best painter that I ever used. I would recommend his work without any reservation at all. Frederick Ledogar
Description of Work: He painted the interior of my home with the paint I wanted ( Behr ) and gave me insightful tips on how to improve the house and did those changes he suggested for modest fees. He washed the outside of the house. He varnished the front and interior of the front door..He painted everything with two coast of roller applied paint.. In short he did a great job and conducted himself as a true southern gentleman and a great craftsman.. I would definitely recommend hiring him.

 + -1 moreA few problems. They didn't have their ladder on the first day had to use mine. There seemed to be some miscommunication about what was to be painted and what wasn't. The Owner James Maines fixed any areas that I pointed out. For me, I had to be more involved then what I really wanted to be. But Jim made sure I was happy in the end.
Description of Work: Cleaned, prepped and painted front and rear of home. Including front and rear lanai's.

 + 1 moreJim responsed quickly to my message asking for an estimate. He came to my home at the agreed upon day and time. He was very polite and knowledgable. His estimate was fair and we hired him. We spoke about a date for him to start, he showed up as scheduled and my pool deck and cage are absolutely beautiful. He cleaned up after himself and all I now have to do is enjoy my newly painted pool deck and clean cage. Thanks Jim, it's lovely.
Description of Work: Pool deck was power washed and painted with deck paint. Pool cage was power washed with chlorine to remove mold and stains.

 + 1 morePainter has "old world" work ethics, takes his time in preparing and painting exteriors; provides extras that were not requested nor billed; explained all work in progress. He uses premium paint products. The work was started and completed as scheduled with any problems or damage to property. This is the second time I have retained the services of this painter. Would highly recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Inspected exterior, evaluated and provided plan and cost-estimate. Pressure washed exterior, patio and pool decks, front portch and walkway. Sealed bad areas caused by water-damage, provided two coats of undercoat and two coats of premium paint to all exterior walls, doors, summer kitchen cabinets and patio electric fans. Painted pool-deck with special sealent and paint. Provided two coats of sealent to brick pavers in patio deck, front portch and front walkway. Repaired approximately 25 cement barrel roof tiles then provided two coats of sealent on entire tiled roof.

 + -1 moreJim was a very good. He first pressure cleaned and then painted the house from outside. I had no problems with him. He was very thorough and used good paint. The quality of his work was good. He was responsive and he was here when he was supposed to be here. He had to stop the work for a couple of days, as it rained and then he came right back as soon as the weather was fine. He used some kind of acrylic paint for the deck around the swimming pool. I have recommended him to others and if need be, then I would use his services in the future too.
Description of Work: We used the services of Jim's Kustom Painting for exterior painting on August 27th, 2003.

 + 1 moreAs happens many times, we changed our mind mid-job on the trim color. Jim was a gentleman about it & handled it with professionalism. The recommendations he made were very good & well received. We felt he took a personal pride in making sure every aspect of the job was done well, & even his "helpers" were professional & obviously not amateurs. Painting a house to a new color is very stressful, but he was patient, & offered valued advice & experience in making the right decisions. Due to our own changes & additions after the initial quote, the price was higher than we would have liked, but we did feel it was fair.
Description of Work: Pressure wash house, sidewalks, pool deck, & fence. Painted house exterior & utility shed. Repaired any rotted wood. Also installed vinyl ceiling on front porch that had previously been plaster & didn't do well in the weather.

I HAD MANY CONCERNS IN THE BEGINNING OF HIS PAINTING AND I POINTED THESE OUT TO JIM AND HE RUDELY REPLIED HE WASN'T DONE. I STILL HAVE UNCUT PAINTED CORNERS, DRIPS AND MISS PAINTED SPOTS. I ASKED HIM NOT TO PAINT THE RUBBER PIECE ON THE BOTTOM OF OUR NEW GARAGE DOOR AND HE DID, I POINTED THIS OUT TO HIM AND HE SAID HE WOULD REPLACE IT, HE TOLD ME HE REPLACED IT AND I LOOKED AND HE PAINTED IT AGAIN BUT THIS TIME BLACK TO LOOK LIKE RUBBER. HE IS VERY DISHONEST. WE HAD OTHER CONTRACTORS WORKING FOR US AT OUR HOUSE AND HE BAD MOUTHED US TO THEM, THE OTHER CONTRACTORS COULDN'T BELIEVE THE LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM. HE FINISHED PAINTING THE HOUSE AND THERE WERE STILL OVER 40 AREAS THAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED, WE TOLD HIM WE WEREN'T PAYING THE FULL AMOUNT AND WANTED HIM GONE. HE SAID HE WOULD TAKE US TO COURT IF WE DIDN'T PAY THE FULL AMOUNT! USE ANOTHER PAINTER.
