Description of Work: We were originally looking for someone to remove our bathroom mirror and then we were planing to call a plumer to install our vanity and toilet. Darren was called for an estimate on removing the mirror, he let us know that he can also install the vanity and just about anything else we might need. Well, he came over right when he said he would gave the estimate and actually began the work the same day, By the time it was all said and done he ended up removing and installing the new mirror, vanity, replacing the toilet, changed the valves (sink & toilet), repaired the drywall, and painted the bathroom. All this was done the very next day.

Description of Work: I HAVE USED THIS COMPANY MANY TIMES. THIS REPORT IS FOR THE LAST 3 JOBS THEY COMPLETED IN MY CONDO. FIRST JOB WAS TO COMPLETELY RENOVATE MY BATHROOM. THIS IS A VERY SMALL BATHROOM IN AN OLD BUILDING IN HOLLYWOOD. THEY GUTTED THE ROOM COMPLETELY DOWN TO THE STUDS. THEY REMOVED ALL OF THE FIXTURES AND BY REPLACING MY STANDARD TUB WITH A VINTAGE CLAW FOOT TUB IT MADE MY BATHROOM LOOK WIDER. DARREN CONVINCED ME THAT WITH THE CLAW FOOT TUB I SHOULD NOT HAVE A CABINET SINK BUT A PEDESTAL SINK TO MAKE MY BATHROOM LOOK VINTAGE. HE WAS RIGHT ON THE MONEY. BUT THIS CREATED A STORAGE PROBLEM. WELL DARREN FOUND THE SOLOUTION BECAUSE WHEN HE REMOVED THE OLD WALLS HE DISCOVERED HIDDEN SPACE INSIDE THE WALLS AND MADE A BUILT IN STAND UP CLOSET FOR ME. THIS NOT ONLY MADE UP FOR NOT HAVING THE CABINET UNDER THE SINK, IT GAVE ME MORE SPACE TO STORE STUFF. I ALSO HAD AN OVER THE TOILET CABINET AND WHEN WE WENT TO PUT IT BACK IT DID NOT LOOK GOOD. DARREN, GENIUS THAT HE IS, DECIDED TO HANG THE UPPER PORTION OF THE CABINET WITH THE GLASS DOORS, OVER THE TOILET AND THE BOTTOM PORTION, WHICH LOOKS LIKE A NARROW TABLE HE PUT BEHIND THE TUB TO GIVE ME COUNTER SPACE FOR MY SHAMPOO AND SOAPS. HE PAINTED AND TILED AROUND THE TUB AREA. HE INSTALLED THE VINTAGE FIXTURES I PURCHASED FOR THE TUB. HE TILED THE BATHROOM FLOOR. IT LOOKS LIKE A NEW BATHROOM AND MY NEIGHBORS CAN'T BELEIVE IT IS THE SAME BATHROOM THEY HAVE. SECOND JOB...DARREN PAINTED MY LIVING ROOM TWO TONE BY PUTTING UP A CHAIR RAIL AND AND PAINTING DARK ON THE TOP AND LIGHTER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE WALLS. HE ALSO INSTALLED A BEAUTIFUL LAMENENT FLOOR IN MY LIVING ROOM, WHICH I LOVE. THIRD JOB..DARREN INSTALLED ITALIAN TILE ON MY BALCONY FLOOR THAT MAKES IT LOOK LIKE A TUSCAN GARDEN. FOURTH JOB...I CALLED HIM BACK IMMEDIATELY TO PUT A LAMENT FLOOR IN MY BEDROOM. BOTH THE LIVING ROOM AND BEDROOM NOW LOOK SO MUCH BIGGER THAT I REMOVED THE CARPET AND PUT IN THE LAMEMENT. WE ARE NOW PLANNING ON DOING A NEW FLOOR IN MY KITCHEN AND HE IS GOING TO BUILD A NARROW VERSION OF A DINER BOOTH AS A FEW YEARS AGO HE MADE MY KITCHEN LOOK LIKE A 50S DINER. HE ALSO OPENED UP THE WALL IN MY KITCHEN THAT HAD A PASS THROUGH WINDOW AND NOW IT IS OPEN TO THE DINING ROOM AND BOTH THE DINING AREA AND THE KITCHEN LOOK MUCH BIGGER. I HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THIS MAN. I HAVE IDEAS IN MY HEAD ABOUT WHAT I WANT MY CONDO TO LOOK LIKE BUT I DO NOT HAVE THE VISION ON HOW TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. I HAVE LEFT MANY OF THE DECISIONS UP TO DARREN AND HE HAS SURPRISED ME IN GIVING ME EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED AND BY DESIGNING SO MANY SPECTACULAR RENOVATIONS FOR ME. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AND CAN GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL NTO BE DISAPPOINTED. AS SOON AS I SAVE UP SOME MONEY, HIS PHONE WILL BE RINGING TO WORK ON ANOTHR PROJECT FOR ME. Description of Work: Darren replaced one custom-shaped broken tile at a stair edge. Although removing the broken tile could have easily damaged the other nearby tiles, Darren was able to do so without cracking the other tiles. He replaced the tile with an extra tile that I owned. The new tile looks perfect and the job was well done. Darren was punctual, informative and highly skilled. I would definitely hire him again for any tile installation or repair.

And considering that we wanted the work done ASAP, we were pleasantly surprised that everything got done so quickly and in such a professional manner. Darren was great from start to finish. We already have some more work lined up for the new year.
Description of Work: Darren painted our living room, kitchen, and hallway leading to the bedrooms. As well as all door trims, base boards, pantry door and laundry area doors.

+ -1 moreThe price was right and the service was OK. He had to install a metal drain in the shower. One was loose. I called and he said he would come, and he did not. I had to call a few more time, and he came and put glue on it that he should have put on from the beginning.

+ 3 moreDarren was very punctual, professional and knew exactly what he was doing. We even threw a quick one at him - deciding to install a whirlpool bath tub instead of the standard tub and he handled the situation perfectly. The whirlpool tub required a lot of extra work - building a new wall, creating the electrical connections, etc. - but we couldn't be any happier at the quality of his workmanship. Our vanity was a little smaller than the size we had available and he built out the walls so it could fit perfectly - no gaps. Darren was always available for questions and kept to a schedule. He finished the work 1 day ahead of schedule.
Description of Work: Darren renovated our bathroom. He took care of the demolition of the old one - removing everything in the room and gave us a new bathroom - installing a new whirlpool bath tub, wall tiles, floor tiles, faucet, shower body, new vanity, new toilet, etc. Darren also installed a new light fixture, painted and installed the little extras - like towel bar, paper holder, etc.

+ -1 moreDarren was personable from the first phone conversation on. He arrived on time, was honest about his availability, up front about the price and amount of work to be done. They were pretty neat and careful. I have pets, they were friendly with the pets and took the dog for a walk when they were here. Could you ask for more individualized work than that? The work was completed in less time than they estimated. There was remodeling work done in the closets along with painting. He will be installing a pet door in the near future for us.
Description of Work: Darren painted 2 bedrooms, the kitchen, and the cathedral ceiling and beams of the living room/dining room combination. The walls were in terrible shape and needed much more than paint. He evened out the walls and matched the finish as best as possible. It is an older home that recently had water damage and very poor improvement. After he painted the kitchen, he even put back all my nicknack's on the wall, and was concerned that they were back in the right spots.

+ 7 moreI am totally pleased with the work that Darren did. He was always here when he said he would be. His price was very fair, and all additional work was priced before he did it. He always cleaned up the space when done for the day. He works by himself because he wants to so that he does not have to worry about helpers. He is completely trustworthy, as he had my house key. His only helper is his brother when necessary. He will be coming back soon to install ceramic tile in our bedroom. And last but not least, our Doberman is in love with him which says a lot. I strongly recommend him to anyone who needs any type of renovations done. He has been in the construction business for a long time.
Description of Work: Darren totally renovated a space that I have not used in years. It had been an enclosed carport. He installed ceramic tiles in the space and vinyl tiles in the laundry room, installed a drop ceiling with insulation and lighting. They covered existing old walls with wallboard, painted the walls, and redid the plumbing in the laundry room. He also replaced 3 interior doors and installed a completely new front door, including taking out all of the old framing as well as stained glass panels on either side of the door and installed new locks on all the doors. He also did all of the shopping for the materials and submitted the receipts.

He outlined exactly what he would do and how much it would cost. When I kept adding to my job, he felt badly that he had to charge me more money. It was worth every penny. Darren picked up anything I needed in the way of supplies.
Description of Work: The walls of my condo were a mess. They had to be repaired and smoothed down before painted. I had the living room, dining room, hallway, and kitchen walls repaired and painted. I needed to have a floor to ceiling mirror removed first. Darren also removed all the old floor molding and replaced it with new.

It seems that when I had them installed, a long time ago, by the shutter company, they put the screws in backwards and I could not get them closed. Darren came over and found the problem and reversed the screws and got them closed. He was fast, punctual and as always very respectful. I use him as much as I can whenever I need anything done. I highly recommend him.

He didn't charge much because everything was already drilled and in place and he just had to slip on the panels and put on the wing bits. Very polite and responsive. Returns phone calls.

+ 0 moreWhen Darren said he was going to be at our house at a certain time he was there, every time, on time. All call backs were prompt and polite. His quote for the projects were very good and done with fine craftsmanship. The project was larger than first thought, but Darren stuck to his original quote. In the long run we gave him additional money for a job well done. Our neighbors came by and saw the the craftsmanship and noticed how he was at our house on time everyday. They ended up hiring him for a tiling project they needed to have done. We recommend him highly from our experience.
Description of Work: Darren tiled our screened in patio and all the tile work for our master bathroom. The master bathroom was tiled with 4 different size tiles and decorative borders. There were hundreds of cuts.

+ 5 moreWow...I moved to FL 5 years ago and got ripped off until I met this man. He is honest, reliable, trustworthy, a perfectionist, & has reasonable rates. He does just about anything. I just can't say enough praise about him. I have highly recommended him to everyone I know. He guarantees his work. He did so much for me and I paid him per item that is why I am unable to list a price. Perfect example is that my building called a plumber to change some valves in the bathrooms and the price they quoted was 4 times higher than Darren quoted. Plus the plumber told us it would take 2 hours per apartment to do this and Darren did it in 20 minutes per apartment. What can I say, the man is just that good.
Description of Work: Kitchen renovation, install ceiling fans and light fixtures, plumbing, electrical, building small furniture, patio enclosures, house painting, wall & floor tile work, all-around handyman.
