Description of Work: They gave me an estimate for a list of small repairs. They neglected to get back with me for an estimate that they said they would give me at the same time, on two larger repairs. They sent another company to do one of those repairs...without letting me know. He showed up at my door after about 5-6 weeks of waiting to hear back from Southern Comfort (I had given up on them by then). Apparently this is a very busy time in Gainesville. So, after initially contacting S. Comfort and then the other person/company they sent (I would hire him probably)...I still don't have a quote for the one larger repair of a window replacement. From anyone. The 5-6 week time period before getting back with me and sending someone without informing me, pretty much did it for me. I do believe that it's a busy time right now but...Too busy to email or phone me? Really? The initial (partial) estimate was performed prior to May 6th and further contact to include the remaining requested estimate was never attempted by them. On June 14th I received a very brief email asking if I was still interested (still with no estimate on the remaining 2 items). |

Description of Work: Replaced water damaged decorative wood window trim. |Replaced water damaged exterior wood sheathing and reinstalled exterior finish. |Installed exterior door. |Very minor finishing issues. Typical of any project. Besides that, very professional, complete, and thoughtful effort.

Description of Work: Having seen this contractor rated a (5) on Angie's List I decided to call them to hopefully get an estimate which would lead to a repair of some drywall which was damaged from a shower leak which my home warranty has since repaired. Though they didn't repair the wall damage like most warranties. I then called Southern Comfort at about 3pm on a weekday and there was no answer, and the voice mail recording just said that it was some lady's voice mail and that she'd call you back. At first I thought I had the wrong number, but after looking at their website I realized that she was an employee. My first thought was that this was very unprofessional to have a business phone go to a voice mail that didn't even state the name of the business. But in any event I left a voice mail with my contact information and stated the repair work I was inquiring about. Weeks later I still haven't heard back from this contractor and now am on Angie's List looking for another. My thoughts are that if a company can't be professional, accessible and manage their prospective customers when they are trying to gain my business, how responsive and professional can I expect them to be when I have already given them my business and they can most likely take advantage of the fact that they don't have to try and impress me / gain my business anymore. Usually I have found in life that when a company is trying to gain your business, that is when they are working their hardest, so if a company fails to work good during that period it really shows how they will treat you while your a client down the road.
