About us

Discount Garage Doors has been serving 18 counties in Central Florida since 1998. We have 14 office employees and 29 technicians and installers. Our company was founded upon the principle of repairing garage doors properly for a fair price. Our reputation is well known in the areas we service, and more than 70% of our jobs are from referrals or repeat customers. We are family owned and operated, not a franchise or national company, which allows us to monitor closely the quality of our work. We use the absolute highest quality doors, operators, and repair parts, each one undergoing a strict quality assurance program. Our standard residential service call charge is $35.00, but we waive this for Angie's List members. In addition, we offer a 10% discount for jobs over $100.00 to members. We do not charge extra for after hours calls. Award winning service.

Description of Work: Our garage door assist spring had failed and we could not open the door. We called Discount Garage Doors and they were out the same day, replaced the spring with a better unit(the previous spring had been replaced less than 2 years ago by another company),and charged us a reasonable price. Description of Work: This is a family owned Florida company, which I endorse(small businesses.) The office staff were very pleasant when I called to let them know I would not need their services. Their location is distant from my address, but that was not a factor...I had to replace a faulty garage door on an emergency basis(broken, could not leave the home unsecured)...the office staff stated they understood the rationale, without argument or voice intonation. I would like to add that ANGIES LIST PERSONNEL were all super professional, very much your customers' advocates, and took extra time (Luke, 8-18-2014) to coach me on how to better utilize Angies website, even to the point of adding new clients to your search list that provide excellent local service. thanks so much for processing this refund. Description of Work: Parts of the garage door were bent so badly that they had to be replaced. Garage door would not open. Fortunately, my car was on the outside when this happened. The technician was kind enough to tell me the cause of the problem, which I very much appreciated. The fault was with the builder.

Description of Work: The service provider was supposed to call before going to the house to service the door. They did not call and claim they went and no one was home, however, from an external examination of the door they could tell the door needed to be completely replaced and that would cost hundreds more. I'm a contractor and know that you can't tell anything by looking at a garage door from the outside only. This service provider's service offer was just a scam to get a chance to sell me a new door. Angie's List should have nothing to do with them!

I'm a Certified State Building Contractor CBC1254791. I've been working in the garage door industry for almost 20 years. If a door is damaged you can certainly tell from the exterior that it needs to be replaced. If we told the homeowner the door needed to be replaced, you can bet that it certainly does, as we make more money on repairing the door rather than replace it. Why would we tell someone to go with a job that nets us less profit unless it was necessary? I'm sure the customer is an excellent "contractor".
