I came home the day before the 4th of July and was alarmed when I smelled something burning. I figured out that the smell was coming from my a/c unit and that our a/c was not operating. Coastal Cooling had been out a month prior to replace a blown transformer, so I immediately called them to ask that they send someone back out. The woman on the phone said that as soon as her tech finished his current job she would have him head to my home. The tech called me about 30 minutes later and said he would be to my house in about 20 minutes. The tech was prompt, just as before, and very polite. He was in my home for close to 3 hours, sometimes venturing out into the rain to look at the part of the a/c unit that is outside. He figured out that the transformer had blown again and installed a new one along with a fuse that, if things went array again, would protect the transformer from being blown. The tech then turned the a/c on and the fuse blew. He did some more investigating and was finally able to get the a/c up and running. I knew that they warrantied their work, but suspected that they would find some way around the warranty so that they could charge me. When the tech was packing up I asked him how much I owed and he told me everything was covered by the warranty and that I did not owe ANYTHING! I thought my hearing was failing me, but he assured me that there was absolutely no charge. To say that this company is prompt and honest, would be a vast understatement. Everyone I have had contact with at this company has been wonderful! I sincerely hope that this website and these ratings provide them with a huge amount of new business!

I called Coastal Cooling on a Sunday when my air conditioning completely quit. They sent a technician within an hour, and the problem was fixed within another hour. The technician even went into into the attic to check the air handler after repairing the condenser, and fixed another potential problem. I was so impressed with this service that I purchased a maintenance plan from them.

Service person (Eric) did a very thorough job of servicing and cleaning my unit. He was informative and polite throughout his stay. I had asked Coastal Cooling to give me a second opinion when Techinical Services A/C (TSI) told me I needed to spend $2500 on air duct cleaning. Frank at Coastal Cleaning stated I did not need duct cleaning and I decided to also go ahead and have them do a maintenance service.

Our a/c quit working on Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend so I called first thing in the morning on the day after Memorial Day. The receptionist was very friendly and said that she could have someone to our house a little after lunch time. She also informed me ahead of time that there would be a fee of $89 for the service call. I was impressed by this because the companies I had used in the past never told me ahead of time what kind of fees to expect. The service man, Eric, showed up at 1:15p.m. - just after lunch as the receptionist had told me. I couldn't believe it. Imagine, a company that shows up to your house when they say they will! Eric was very clean and tidy looking as well as friendly. He also introduced himself which was also something I had never encountered. Eric was very friendly with my dogs which means a lot to me. He listened to me when I explained what had been going on with the a/c and once he had fixed the problem he explained to me what work he had done. He gave me a 10% discount for telling him I found their company on Angie's List as well. He also gave me a 90 day warranty and insisted that if there were any problems that I call the answering service and they would send someone out no matter what time of day or night it is. Eric made it very clear that it is very important to the company to make their customers happy by giving fair prices, doing good work, and showing up on time. I almost passed out from shock. This kind of wonderful, friendly behavior is so hard to find even though it should be the norm. This was the least amount of money we have ever spent on a/c repair and it was definitely money well spent. This company truly cares about the integrity of their work and the satisfaction of their customers.

The tech came to do the work which was on a roof of a commercial building. He used commercial cleaning foam and sprayed it unit twice. He even brought down a rag with water logged mushy gunk to show me what was on the unit. Very professional tech. A couple of hours later when the unit was still not cooling I called the office. The service manager indicated that the tech did not get all the information and that a water hose would be needed to really get into the fins. This was about 4pm. The service manager said he would come back out that day. They arrived at 5:30 and were on the roof for another hour cleaning. Very nice, professional, never looked at the time, even though it was after their working hours. No additional charge.
Description of Work: Evaluated AC problems, recommended cleaning coil and fins. He took pictures of the unit on the roof to show me the huge amount of dirt. Just the day before had another company evaulate my problem (not cooling the store) and he had said everything on the roof was fine.

He completed the work to my satisfaction and offered great advice. I appreciated his honesty in telling me that I didn't need to complete some work I was questioning. He was in my home for several hours and you couldn't even tell he had been there! He even wore booties each time he stepped inside! I would highly recommend them. The problem that I thought was solved was not solved. The company is not holding to their word to come in and do what they said they were going to do. I am so disappointed with this company. They charged me close to $3,000.00 but did not solve the problem at all. I have been recommended to another company who will come in and try to fix the problem.

I have been ill with disability related problems and have not had a chance to file this report until now. However, this experience was outstanding from start to finish. I have been using Coastal Cooling for semiannual maintenance for 2-3 years and the time had come to replace my system for which I was never under any high pressure to replace, From the beginning when the salesman came out to the house and explained every system available and their benefits in detail and with complete pricing information to the day of installation, I was really impressed with this company. On installation day they showed up with a crew of 4 men who were outstanding in every way. Even throughout the day, the owner showed up and was working with the crew. This crew had a goal of doing everything the right way, Including the complex reconfiguration of the air return and duct work around some significant obstacles in the attic. They even drove all the way back to Fort Myers to pick up a new concrete pad which was subsequently hurricane strapped and installed. It was obvious to me that this crew was not going to leave until the system was installed and working at optimum capacity. They also made sure that I was trained and comfortable on the new complex programmable thermostat. They also filed all the necessary building inspection papers with the county and when the inspector came out he said this was a really good installation. The salesman also came by after the install to see if I needed any more training and if I was happy with everything. This kind of service you don't see every day.
Description of Work: Installed New Trane air conditioning and heating system, including the outside and inside systems. Also increased the size of the air return and all the duct work from inside the house back to the air handler and installed a touch screen programmable thermostat/humidifier control device. The system was an upgraded high SEER rated system with a 10-year parts and labor service included. All applicable rebates were accounted for.

First they came out to give an estimate and explain the options we had. We agreed on a system and then a few days later they installed it. They did an excellent job all while working in a very small and very hot attic. They had to make some adjustments to what the estimator had told us and it worked out better for us. The new unit moved more air so one of our outlets was rattling which was very noisy. We called they came out and fix it and fully explained how to operate our new thermostat. They are very professional and we are very pleased with their work

That didn't happen, but after two more days and a number of follow up calls I finally reached a salesman. He suggested that we replace the entire system with a R410A system (current standard), rather than just installing a replacement R22 (old standard) outside unit because they aren't making R22 inside air handlers any more. When that older inside unit eventually failed we would have to upgrade the entire system to R410A anyway. That seemed to make sense, he quoted a price of $3500, we discussed the 10% Angie's list discount and scheduled the work for the next day. A couple hours later he called to inform me that the 10% discount on all repairs doesn't apply when you have to replace the whole system, and the discount would be only $100. I didn't feel good about that, so I decided to cancel the work and get a second opinion from another company. Am I glad I did! The second tech found the compressor to be fine, but the fan motor had an open winding. There were no leaks but all the coolant was gone. This was discovered to be due to a loose valve core. I could have just replaced the fan motor, but the tech suggested he could replace the entire outside unit with a larger R410A system and convert my existing air handler to R410A. Coastal never mentioned this possibility. The complete price matched what Coastal quoted for a new R22 outside unit. I saved $1500 and got an upgraded system! It's always good to get a second opinion on an expensive job.

Rep said he was the service manager and initially called me "young man" and my wife "young lady." Not very professional in my opinion. Rep did a thorough inspection of ductwork in the attic pointing out problems, explaining why they were problems, and recommending solutions. I was surprised that when he discovered a supply duct that hadn't been sealed to the plenum, he didn't, as a courtesy, seal it with a run of tape. It seems to me that if he wanted to earn my business, such a courtesy would be second nature. Rep viewed work on Monday. I called on Friday to ask if/when I would receive the quote. He stated that he had sent it via email to the address I provided. I wonder why there was no followup between Mon-Fri?
Description of Work: No services performed. Appointment was for a second opinion on a repair and to provide an estimate for a new a/c system. The cost estimate for a new system was $1,000 (10%) higher than the next highest of 4 apple/apple bids. The rep stated that his bid would be high, and justified this by stating that HE would be on the job during installation, and HE would ensure quality. I'm confident he is good, but I have only his word that the service he would provide would be THAT much better than a competitor.

I received a phone call on Sunday from my nephew staying at our home in FL telling me the air conditioner wasn't working. I was flying down the next day with my 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren & 2 granddogs, so no air conditioning in the middle of August was a real problem. I got on Angie's list, read reviews, & called Coastal Cooling at 7am when they opened. I was told they should be able to have someone out that day. My fear was that I would need a new air conditioner & it would take several days to replace it. I was assured it that was necessary it would be done the day after the initial visit, & that the initial service call would most likely be deducted from the cost of the new air conditioner. The repairman was out that same day, and since my nephew was there to meet him, the repairs were finished before I arrived that afternoon. I will definitely call them the next time I have a problem, they saved my sanity.

The whole process went very well. He would have replaced the air filters in the house, but we had already done that ourselves.
Description of Work: This was a yearly maintenance checkup. We changed companies because of poor experiences with the prior vendor. We have two air conditioners--one is a split system with air handler within it, the other is free standing and the air handler is in the garage ceiling. The technician, Doug, was professional and very helpful. He explained where there were problems within the system and gave us advice. He replaced the UV bulbs in the air handler with bulbs provided by us. He cleaned and sealed the air handlers. He also cleaned the a/c's and sprayed them with wax to protect from corrosion. He was very thorough.
