+ 1 moreAll of the work was excellent. Jeff was very easy to work with, he kept me informed and he did all the jobs I asked him to. Both the roof and ceiling repair were done very well. You really can't see where the repairs were done. I was extremely pleased with Jeff overall, and I will definitely call him for future jobs.
Description of Work: Jeff repaired a hole in the roof and replaced a 2' x 2' section of ceiling. He also did a number of odd jobs for us inside the property such as adjusting doors and locks and replacing light fixtures.

I called Jeff Lucas who went out immediately to look at the problem and came back and fixed it with no further issues the next Monday.

This work was done by Jeff Lucas, who now works under the company name of Elite Home Services.Won't change the review on this job, but his responsiveness is now very poor. Can't get him to return to finish the work he committed to. 3 months now. Updated: 5/4/12.

+ -1 moreI went around and got three quotes from various licensed/bonded contractors and Jeff's was the lowest of the bunch (and he also had good reviews here) so we decided to go with him. I was bit delayed in getting him a deposit on the work but he put us on his schedule as soon as that was taken care of. Work started on time and Jeff was always on site getting his crew started and managing them throughout the day. We also decided to remove a unsightly, very large, satellite dish from the roof and Jeff and his crew accomplished this to my total satisfaction. Jeff was also available throughout the work process to discuss any options/concerns I had and promptly addressed the few small issues I brought up during/after the work. His crew left the site clean and was thorough when it came to finding nails that may have fallen from the roof. If something comes up that I don't feel like doing myself (or feel like I can't do myself) I will definitely be calling on Lucas Construction again.
Description of Work: Jeff replaced the roof of our townhouse, removed an unsightly satellite dish, and replaced some exterior wood rot. He also installed some additional venting for certain sub-sections of the roof itself where they had been excluded in the original build.

+ -1 moreJust a few days after contacting them they showed up and got to work. It took a day longer than originally estimated, but it wasn't a problem. They were friendly and professional and did great work, and their price was by far the best of the estimates we got. They took care of the paperwork, but made sure we knew what they were doing with scheduling inspections and such with the county. I'd highly recommend them for this type of work and would be happy to hire them again.
Description of Work: The old shingles were removed, some rotten underlayment was repaired, and a new water barrier and energy efficient shingles were installed. They also installed a vent for the bathroom fan.

+ -1 moreLucas came in with the lowest estimate (for the 30 year shingles). We ordered the white shingles because of their better energy efficiency and much higher reflectivity. Although the other two estimates were higher, they were for both for 50 year warranty shingles as I recall. This brings up an important point NOT to compare apples with oranges, even for roofing. Obviously, a 50 year shingle should cost more, so when getting estimates be sure to find out in advance just what type of shingle and underlayment is included in the estimate for comparative purposes. For various reasons, we wanted the 30 year shingles, although Jeff said they could easily do the 50, as well as a steel roof. Once Jeff got started, they completed the job in a single day and we were pleased with the results. His crew also picked up the old shingles and any roofing nails they could find. Another plus for us was the fact that Lucas construction could also do any repair projects that we might need in the future, in addition to the roofing.
Description of Work: Jeff Lucas was the first one we called and he was the first to respond with the lowest estimate . We also received estimates from two other companies, but did not get the discount from Lucas because one of the other two companies was so late in giving us an estimate, before we went with Jeff. Turned out that I should have just gone with Lucas in the first place. Because of weather delays, it still took a couple of weeks to get the job completed. Another plus for us was that Jeff was a Wakulla County guy and since the house was also in Wakulla County, we went with them.

+ 0 moreJeff was at our house the same day I called him. He evaluated what he could from the outside, and then came back for the inside repairs. He is quick to respond, and has a very good work ethic. Jeff seems genuinely concerned about issues, and fixes them thouroughly. He comes well equipped to work, and doesn't have to delay a job to go out and get the appropriate tools or materials. He has done roof repair, and floor repair for us. He is our permanent handyman!
Description of Work: We needed some repairs done to our roof and our floor. We needed them quickly, as we were having new flooring installed. As the flooring company was demo-ing the tile in the kitchen, they found wood root on the floor, and said they couldn't proceed until that was fixed. We also needed roof repairs due to a new leak. We called Jeff, and he quickly responded, fixing both issues, so our floor installation could finish on schedule!

+ 0 moreArranged for several estimates. Mr Lucas responded very promptly and provided an estimate that was around 15% lower than others for the same work. A start time was agreed upon and work comenced as scheduled. Even with some very cold (for our area) weather, work was completed within a week. What few very minor concerns that occured were proptly delt with very satisfactorily. Skylights and roof look great, very pleased. Have already contracted with them to replace roof on a rental townhome and some other work at my home.
Description of Work: 1800 square foot home. Removed existing shingles and underlayment. Nailed roof decking as per code. Installed new FHA eve drip. Installed 30 yr shingles with ice & water shield underlayment and ridge vent. Replaced 7 velux skylights. Installed lead boots with squirrel guards. Installed "cricket" behind chimney.

+ -1 moreJeff Lucas was the first roofing company I called for an estimate, and he was on site for an estimate the same afternoon. (One other company came out the next day with a much higher estimate. A third roofing company finally contacted me almost one week later via email to set up a time for an estimator to visit.) When I called to confirm that Lucas Construction could do the work, he was able to fit me in the very next day. The work was completed very quickly, and they cleaned up the work site thoroughly. I considered grading Professionalism as a B, because Jeff did not submit his estimate on an official looking printout. However, this was totally fine for this size job. (He noted that a larger job would require a much more detailed estimate.) All of this other dealings with me exceeded the professionalism shown by other roofing companies. The repairs feel extremely solid and are hardly noticeable unless you know what you are looking for. Lucas Construction will definitely be at the top of my list for a full roofing job in the future.
Description of Work: Hired to repair punctured sheathing and damaged ridge vent. Repair consisted of removing damaged shingles, tar paper, sheathing (approximately 1 sq yard) and damaged ridge vent (approx. 4 feet). Installed new section of sheathing, improved section of ridge vent, new tar paper and shingles. They also replaced another damaged section of shingles (approximately 3 shingles). On site today they noticed squirrel damage to the lead boot around a plumbing system vent, which was repaired at no extra charge.

+ -1 moreAfter purchasing a new home, we hired Lucas Construction to replace the roof on the house and workshop. Jeff and his crew did an excellent job. I was very pleased with the quality of work and the cleanliness and professional manner of the crew. They completed the job on time and with in budget. There were minor repairs that were needed and Jeff clearly communicated what needed to be done and how much it would cost. When we returned the inspect the final product, the driveway and patios had been swept clean and there was no debris or garbage left behind. We have also hired this company to put a new roof on our old house and look forward to hiring them for all of our home repairs in the future.
Description of Work: We had a full roof replacement on our house and workshop.

They were able to complete the job ahead of schedule and with in budget. He was able to assist us in picking out the right color shingles to match the exterior of the house and his choice really makes the house stand out and ready for sale. This is the second job I have hired Lucus Construction to complete and we have referred them to our friends and we look forward to hiring them for a bathroom renovation in the future. I highly recommend this company.

+ -1 moreThe job went very well. Due to the extent of repairs, it lasted almost a week. The result was excellent, not hurried and completed to our complete satisfaction.
Description of Work: The roof on our house was 22 years old and this made it difficult to obtain insurance. I contacted five different companies and requested bids to repair the roof. Jeff Lucas and his father came out, examined the roof and gave us a bid. Their bid was the lowest received. They started work as soon as the weather (rain) would permit. The roof is unusual in that our house is round and the roof is made up of 14 pie shaped sections. When the old shingles were removed, they found extensive wood rot in the decking. They replaced all of the bad sections, used state of the art underlayment instead of tar paper and covered the roof with 30 year shingles. Since our house is surrounded by trees, it was not possible to have the shingle bundles lifted to the roof by a hoist and all of them had to be carried up the ladder to the roof. This was made more onerous by the house being two story. The crew of 3 came to work each morning promptly at 7 o'clock and worked steadily until about 4 or 5 except one day when they were concerned about rain and did not leave until the had dried-in the roof with underlayment. This required that they work very late, they were working in the dark up there getting it weatherproof till I finally took a floodlight out there and helped them see a little better. The crew was a joy to have here. They were quiet, friendly, hard working and courteous. I never heard a complaint, cuss word or negative attitude. Their boss Jeff provided me with information when a decision was needed and was always courteous and a gentleman. When the work was complete, all debris was picked up and hauled off, a magnet was used to pickup any nails that had fallen, and all four of our decks were cleaned off. There was no evidence that they had been there except for the brand-new roof.

This owner came out on Sunday afternoon and climbed up on my roof, put a tarp up and made sure the area that was leaking was covered. (it had rained h****** several occastions after the tarp was put up) Jeff was able to give me an estimate on the spot and gave me samples of shingles to choose from. They were onsite by the following week. They required half up front and half when the job was completed. There was one evening around 10:00 that it had rained really hard and water had leaked around a pipe that had not yet been sealed, Jeff came out and stopped the leak. Oh and they also recommended a terrific drywall guy that was able to finish the bathroom we had torn apart. The drywall guy did a great job! The paperwork was a little late, but we are very pleased with the results of both repairs and plan on using them again for other projects that he has already estimated for us.

+ -1 moreI got quotes from Jeff, another roofer on Angie's List and one a friend recommended. Jeff beat them both by about $1000. The work took only 3 days even though it rained every afternoon. The last day the crew went back up on the roof after it rained and worked till dark to get finished. The next day they cleaned up and left, without leaving any evidence except a fantastic looking roof. I liked their work so well that I've asked Jeff for an estimate to install vinyl siding.
Description of Work: Jeff and his crew installed lifetime shingles and a ridge vent on my 1500+ ft. house. The price above includes a 14- year (normally 7 years) $1000 extended waranty on labor.

+ -1 moreJeff Lucas responded to an ad I posted and promptly went out on site and gave me a quote. When I was ready for the work to be done he worked it into his schedule very quickly. When the shingles were off it was obvious that the rot was more extensive than we previously hoped but he did not overcharge for the extra work. All the work was completed when he said it would be (allowing for rain delays), and he was professional and obviously competent in what he did. He even blew the roof off when he was done (and completely cleaned up all the work debris). I will certainly call on him in the future.
Description of Work: I have a recently purchased rental house that had a rotten corner where a baffle was allowed to puncture the shingles and was left that way for several years. There was significant rot to the soffits, plywood and framing and all this and the shingles needed to be replaced.

I found Lucas construction. We met once at the house to discuss what needed to be done and he sent me a very fair estimate by email. I didn't get to see the finished product for a couple months after it was completed. I was totally amazed at what an excellent job was done. The house was move in ready. The ceiling in the kitchen looks brand new and the whole house clean, painted and refreshed.

I was looking for him to change his price once the job was completed since that is what I heard alot of contractors do but his price stayed the same. I was very pleased with everything he did & will definetly use him again in the future.
Description of Work: I have a metal roof on a mobile home that was starting to give me trouble. Jeff Lucas of Lucas Construction came out & repaired all of the bad spots on the roof & cleaned the roof of all debris & algae. He then coated my roof with a white energy efficient coating that sealed my roof along with reflecting alot of the sunlight. My roof now looks brand new & I can tell a decrease in my energy useage.
