Went well. You need to schedule each time and be home to turn on your computer at the time of service. The clean-up, etc. changes some things that have to be checked afterward at times, but not really a big problem. Plus they had recommended malware and virus security that I am using which has worked much better to protect my computer.
Description of Work: I subscribe to the remote quarterly service plan which I pay for once yearly. It equates to about $26.00 per scheduled service every three months. They also came to my home to set up my original wireless set-up and sell and build computers.

The tech was here less than 10 min and wanted to charge $200 to take computer to reload. I would have lost important downloads and could use that money to get a new computer. Told him bait and switch hired u for 2 hrs so fix computer or leave. He was here 2 hrs said computer was fixed it was not. The company did not honor the angies list price. Their collections dept kept calling me and told me they would send me to collections if I didn't pay. Total BS. Never would I recommend this company.

Unfortunately, we were set up to fail from the beginning. The client represented that she was going to pay for the onsite visit but provided false payment information. Upon arriving on-site in uniform and a company lettered vehicle, we found the computer was in terrible condition and the client insisted we perform band-aid fixes instead of doing it right and reinstalling the OS. We expect the client to continue to have problems because she would not allow the computer to be fixed the correct and complete way. The client took over 2 months to pay her invoice for the service which is why she received notices of her past due balance.

This company damaged my laptop screen and refused to have it fixed! Let me first say that South Florida Tech Group lauds their standing on their internet homepage by stating..... “rated #1 4 years in a row for customer satisfaction, winning the 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 Super Service Awards from Angie’s List, and we are currently the #1 recommended IT service provider by Angies List”. WELL NOT SO FAST MY FRIENDS AT SOUTH FLA TECH GROUP! If you on Angies List choose to use these people, you may have serious problems as they have shown me a propensity to not stand behind quality workmanship! I initially was contacted by Jackie Stevens who at the time was their Statewide Director of Operations and whose job was for her to assign and schedule a Consultant (Tony) to work this job on my laptop. I followed Jackies' emails to Tony and me and then I got a call from him stating he was the company consultant who was assigned to me. He asked me for a profile and specifications on my laptop through email. I promptly gave those to him and he gave me an appointment date/time of 09/09/2015 ETA 2:00 - 4:00pm. I got a call from him at around 5:30pm telling me he was just 10 minutes from my house. I thought that this was a bad sign since he did not call around 4:00pm to say he was late but on his way. But he did call later and said he had traffic problems. So I gave him grace since he was coming from somewhere down south near West Palm Beach (45+ minutes away). When he arrived I had the computer running and he checked some things on it while I was watching. The screen was clear just as it had always been before/during his visit with absolutely no visible distortions. We both went over the line items that I had written down & wanting him to address and he then told me that he needed to take the laptop off-site with him. I did not feel comfortable with having my computer leave the premises, but I understood that backing up my directory system and files, loading a new o/s, and reloading the directories/files was a time consuming process. So I reluctantly sent Tony off with my computer. When Tony brought my computer back five days later, I immediately noticed an irritating 2" black mark on the left bottom quadrant of the screen that I first thought might be an installed watermark he put there to identify the new software o/s that was installed and to keep from proliferating the loaded o/s. While there at my house, Tony went through an orientation for me on how to navigate the new o/s but did not mention anything at all about the black mark which was very visible. I initially thought him not addressing the black mark to be curious. I asked him about the black mark and he said that he disavowed knowing anything about it. It was in a place on the screen where a pen or pencil would cradle atop the keyboard and if the laptop lid were to be shut, it would crush in that very location of the black mark on the screen. I later realized that It was a seriously broken screen as scrolling through pictures and text shows a diffusion of image that wabbles in the entire left-bottom quadrant of the screen (much worse than first thought with the black mark). I told Tony that I never had that problem with my laptop (my wife uses it too and had never seen it either) before he took it away with him. Tony just dismissed it and told me not to worry, that he gets better laptops than mine all of the time from others who no longer need them, and when he gets one he would give it to me since I am a Disabled Vietnam Veteran on fixed-income and he frequently does kind things for people like Veterans. Tony told me he would be looking for a laptop & if I don't hear from him by mid-December then just call him. So in mid-December I call his cell phone and Tonya Potter/Asst to the Ops Director answers and says that Tony turned in his company cell phone and is no longer with them. I explain everything that happened and she dismisses it because she said that I did not call the company to address the problem. I explained to Tonya that their company representative/agent was Tony who was appraised of the issue right away concerning the broken screen and that he was in a direct way “the company representative." Tanya told me that they have no way of knowing if the screen was broken by Tony or me as he did not list the problem in his job report, that Tony was no longer working with them, and they have no way to contact him. Well, we know that he would not want his company to know that he damaged my laptop, so it stands to reason that it is more likely than not that he did not want it in his job report. She basically said that they had no way to know who broke the screen even though I told her that I have email proof that I addressed it to Tony. The very implication that I would tell a fabrication was a slap at my credibility. If my computer had been broken, then I would be having that fixed as well as the work I was having done. There is no getting by an obviously damaged screen as the consultant would have had me sign a release of liability form for a "broken computer screen" if there had been one. This of course was not done since the screen was not broken when Tony took the laptop off-site. My encounter with Tanya was extremely resistant and exhausting at which point she hung up the phone on me but not before telling me again that by not calling the company for the 2-3 months (that I so patiently waited for Tony) was far too long to bring this up now. So I call again to South Florida Tech Group on 12/27/2016 to readdress this after a cooldown during the Christmas break to discuss it with Tanyas’ senior officer who was Jackie Stevens. Tanya picks up the call to Jackie and tells me that she is now holds Jackies position as Statewide Director of Operations and that Jackie has moved out of the position. Tanya and I again discuss the issue and she gives me the same push-back as she did previously. I told her that I had already contacted my law firm and that this was an opportunity for them to make right and fix my computer screen or I would have to litigate for small claims. You see folks….for me it’s not about the $200 - $600 to fix the laptop screen, it is the way that they have dealt with me and questioned my integrity and honor! Tanya hung up on me for a second time! Does this sound like a consulting firm you would want to do business with? If so, good luck if something gets broken or goes wrong! p.s. I will only remove this rating and narrative report if South Florida Tech Group remedies the damage their personnel exacted on my computer. At that time, if it comes before I see them in court, I will then give them a report that indicates that work was done to my satisfaction.

We showed up to this customer's home within the 2 hour window provided, in uniform, and in a company lettered vehicle. Services were provided over a one week period. We then never heard from this customer again for over 3+ months. The customer then just contacted us and alleged that we had cracked his computer screen, 3+ months later. There was never any written communications between he and the tech, he never contacted the office until 3+ months later. We do not believe we broke this customer's screen and therefore did not agree to fix it. If the customer had any complaints about the work that was performed, he should have contacted us sooner than more than 3+ months later after we had last spoken to him.

I signed up for the quarterly maintenance service in Sept. 2015 for $99. I spent approximately $300 additional for an upgraded modem, printer and two security packages: Malware Bytes and Hitman Pro. Because of ongoing problems with the wireless printing, I was rarely able to print documents during the following year. The remote techs couldn't walk me through a solution. Possibly because the original on-site tech entered the wireless password incorrectly. A second on-site tech couldn't solve the problem - that was another charge. My solution: As my SFTG contract was nearing expiration I tried out a Chromebook. Works great and Google Docs is more than adequate for my needs. What a godsend! Any Windows computer requires additional costs for anti-virus and malware and (in my case) the tech support to make it work/not work. I also signed up for cable wireless and get rarely-needed documents printed at a convenient Fed Ex. South Florida Tech Group was very good about contacting me when maintenance was due, but several times, they used that as an opportunity for aggressive up-selling. They did address one virus attack and that cost me another couple of hundred dollars. Overall, for around $800 for the year, this was a very poor value. For the cost of renewing the annual contract, plus the cost of renewing the two security packages I will ditch Windows and invest in an upgraded Chromebook. I did have a very congenial and productive conversation with a new Director in SFTG’s South Florida office. She was very honest about their problems with on-site tech support in Central Florida. In fact, she said they no longer offer that service in Central Florida. I believe that, without the complications of the equipment and wireless problems, I would have been very satisfied with the quarterly remote service. I just regret that I had to be a customer who experienced the serious flaw in their business expansion plan. I would recommend SFTG for off-site computer support.

We provided onsite and remote services to this customer many times. Her computer was outdated significantly and she had repeat infections of viruses. It is our duty to stress to customer each time we work with her about her vulnerabilities that are causing her infections. The client's issues with her wireless could have been resolved by replacing the router but the client declined our solution. We can only fix what customers allow us to. We appreciate the client saying they had a great experience and would recommend us, but not sure why the F ratings. At only $40/hr, our price beats all of our competitors for residential work. Thank you.

The initial phone call, and convsation went well with the receptionist, it was informative, and assuring of South Florida Tech's capability. She also explained to me, a $40.00 security deposit that will not be charged to my credit card unless I am not at home when the technician arrives, as some customers are. But I received the E-mail, informing me of my appointment time, and the name of the technician, and it stated that the $40.00 was non-refundable. The technician, Tony, a nice young man, arrived as promised---a little late, but that was alright---and proceeded to asscess the problem on my iMac., After about an hour of assessing, and technical probing, Tony decided he needed to take the iMac home (or office) to further work on it. He wrote up a bill with a list of repairs to be done, I signed it and he left. Two days later Tony returned with my iMac, stating that it was all repaired, but as we went through his demonstration, we discovered it still was not operating right, so he took it back for more repairs. A few days after, Tony returned and demonstrated that he had achived the communication between the software, and the hardware on m iMac. I felt relieved that my iMac had been restored, and now working properly again. About three days later, I booted up the iMac, only to discovered that the machine had been---what could only be described as---"gutted". A huge number of applications were just gone from my iMac: iTunes, Time Machine, Calendar, Contacts, Face Time, Game Center, Google chrome, Ibook, Launch Pad, Maps, Messages, Mission Control, Notes, Photos, Reminder, mail, just to name a few. There were also pop-up messages when I click on certain applications such as: "System extension can not be used. Apple blue Tooth Multi Touch. Kext. was installed improperly and can not be used, try reinstalling". "ITunes can not be launched. The file iTunes library.it. can not be read", "No disk found for Time Machine". The iMac could not remotely print as it did before, etc cetera. I immediately called Tony, who did not answered his cell, and the call transferred to the office, where the receptionest took a tone with me stating I can not expect Tony to answer me when he is with a client. However Tony finally returned my call and I explained that I wanted every thing to be returned to the original OS X operation When Tony returned to my house he explained that in any event he had achieved his objective which was to reestablish communication between the software, and the hardware---may be so but at the expense of my machine! To me, its the same as a mechanic disabling power steering, power breaks, and windshield wipers, just to change the oil. I will not use them again.
Description of Work: I have an iMac with OS X "El Capitan", which for some reason, stopped the communication between my DAW software, "Pro Tools SE", and the hardware, "M-Audio Fast Track" With out Fast Track, Pro Tools SE will not fully deploy. I was informed that in order for comunnication between the software, and the hardware to resume, El Capitan would have to be uninstalled. But by doing so, the hard drive would also be erased, and applications would have to be reinstalled on the hard drive. Faced with this challenge I decided to hire professionals---"South Florida Tech Group, Inc"

He diagnosed the problem and said it could be repaired but was so old that it wasn't worth it. We ordered a new laptop and software. He set up the new laptop when it arrived at the store, transferred over all of her files from the old laptop, brought the new one to the house and set it up on our wireless network, and went through the new software and other items with her. He was very patient, helpful and professional. We also bought the plan that provides quarterly remote tuneups from the store (they call us and access our laptop remotely, using software they installed). This is a VERY good deal as for $100 a year we get a technician to go through the computer, check for viruses, clean up files, ensure everything is working properly and ensure all software updates are performed.

It didn't go well. The men who did the job didn't do it right. I reported the fact that the job wasn't done properly. I didn't hear from them for about 4 days. He called me and told me he'd come by and fix it. He came around and fixed it but he charged me all over again. He charged $40 in addition. He did a couple of things that were helpful. I'm really not happy at all. In fact, he lead me to believe he was going to come back and fix his mistake.

The client had a list of items that he requested for his appointment. All items were completed and signed off on before consultant had left the appointment. The consultant provided a conclusion speech that he could stay as long as client needed in order for client to test the work. The client later realized he needed additional help, he scheduled an additional onsite visit for the additional work in which he was charged only our one hour minimum charge. The client never requested the second appt to be complimentary and we were unaware of that expectation until receiving this "F" rating review.

I think this company is a fraud. The rep there told me I needed a new computer even though my computer is only 4-5 years old. He gave me a list of computers to chose from, I picked an HP however when the rep delivered the computer it was not an HP. The rep also told me if I were to return the computer there would be a restocking fee and I let him know I would not be paying that restocking fee since I didn't even get the computer I wanted in the first place. I want them to pick up this current computer and I want my old computer back!

Our consultant showed up on time, presentable uniform, in a company lettered vehicle. Client decided to purchase new computer and paid a non refundable deposit. Client signed paperwork before we charged her any amount and before we left to order new equipment. Client was dissatisfied with the new computer we sold her. We offered to replace it with a different model without additional charge to client. Client said she changed her mind and because of money situation wanted to cancel the whole sale. We had already spent 6+ hours working with customer and ordered and opened two different brand new computers. We told her that the initial deposit was still non refundable. Client told us to refund the money or she would leave us bad reviews all over the internet.

On Labor Day at the agreed time, Roger Bueno contacted me and worked on the computer remotely. The problem was eliminated fairly quickly. The anti-virus scan picked up nothing. However, later in the day I ran another scan and two more similar viruses were trapped. I called Roger to let him know and he told me he had heard of this happening. He applied some more of his knowledge and the problem was solved. I have been a customer of South Tech for some years and feel comfortable that they are there to help me with knowledgable people like Roger Bueno, working on a public holiday if required. I highly recommend South Tech for your computer problems.
Description of Work: On the Sunday before Labor Day my computer showed a blue popup saying that my Windows 10 licence was about to expire, and that I should contact my administrator for a new Product Code to activate it. This happened every time I signed in. That surprised me since I am the administrator. I emailed South Tech to ask what this was all about and Jackie said she would ask a technician to take a look the next day, Labor Day.

The South Florida tech (Roger) removed the viruses and then installed Windows 10. Everything went GREAT!!! Also, the South Florida tech (Roger) noticed that I was using Microsoft Office 2010 and he recommended that I upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft Office. He made this recommendation because older software package do not have the best protection against new viruses and the new versions. Since Roger installed Windows 10, everything is working GREAT!!! Also, I thinking seriously to upgrading to Microsoft Office 365. Based on my experience, I highly recommend individuals to call The South Florida Tech Group for any issues they are having with their PCs.
Description of Work: At first, I had a problem with my printer. When I called Epson support for help with my printer, they said I had a virus that was blocking the print driver files. Also, they told me that until I remove the virus, I will continue to have problems with my printer. So, I called the South Florida Tech Group for help with this issue. The South Florida Tech (Roger) informed confirmed that I had a virus and recommended that I uninstall Windows 7 and install Windows 10. I informed the tech that I was told by another computer tech that I should not install Windows 10 because my PC was purchased in 2010 and I might have problems with Windows 10. After the South Florida tech remotely accessed my PC and check the hardware specs for my PC he said, this was non-sense. He added, whoever told me that I should not install Windows 10 on my PC don't know what they are talking about. The South Florida tech said that from is review of PC specs, my PC can easily handle Windows 10. I told the South Florida tech (Roger) that I always wanted to upgrade to Window 10 but I was told by at least two different PC techies that I should not upgrade.

Had Same issues after they preformed first hour of work.Called back and Tech guy basically ran same malware. No change. They charged for 2 hours when the second hr was just repeat of what didn't work the first hour. Will not use them (or probably any remote service for that matter) again and will now have to pay to have local company attempt to fix. I requested a refund for the second hour and they said no, and blamed it on Windows 7 and tried to upsell Windows 10 upload for $200...no thank you...Would not recommend them to anyone.

He did his best during the time he was here but the computer was old. It was not much better after he left but that was not his fault. I wound up getting a new computer.

..We had just moved to the Fort Myers area. In the morning when I booted up the old laptop, I got the dreaded black screen. After several retries, I got on Angies List and called South Florida Computer. Although they offerred to come out and fix my old computer that afternoon, I told them that I would rather just get a new Windows 10 machine. In 5 minutes, they explained options and costs, and I selected a machine. 3 hours later, the machine was installed in my home and I was up and running. Gerry, the tech who made the house call, was extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and managed the entire project extremely well. Fabulous company, and I will definately do business with them again.
Description of Work: Installed new computer and migrated all of my old data, programs, etc.

My email was not running correctly and eventually shut down hence I was getting email thru the internet. Eventually my internet also shut down and neither email or internet would open. My cable company was absolutely NO help . I had purchased a computer from South Florida Tech group when my last computer burned out. I had trouble with the emails and internet and have had several adjustments but this time once again both items shut down and could not open . Roger Bueno - South Florida Tech Group - cleaned up my computer , resolved my email / password [problems and got my internet running again. I am NOT good with resolving computer issues and this company has helped me before hence I purchased a yearly maintanance plan to keep my computer free of any future issues. I would recommend this company to any person who is not computer savvy .

Windows 10 insisted on installing itself. When it was done, I was unable to access the Internet. Phone calls to my ISP, Microsoft and the hardware manufacturer provided ZERO help. SFTG responded to my home the same day, fixed it quickly, and even provided some suggestions on safe computing. REALLY GRATEFUL. Use them again? Of course!

From the start, when Matt showed up, I found him to be a consummate professional. He was able to immediately calm me down and began to assess my computer needs. Found him to be one of the very best technicians I've ever worked with! I highly recommend South Florida Tech Group!
